America loved being a British colony. Everyday he was allowed to play outside. Well, that was when England didn't constantly give him his boring lessons. Apparently, they haven't left America's land. They had just collected necessary supplies to build a British settlement and moved more eastward.
America's past life in the wilderness with his brother was long forgotten. Becoming a colony under England made him forget everything that had happened before he found him. The only life he now knew was being with the funny eyebrowed man.
Everything else was pushed to the back of his mind, but that didn't mean that some random memories wouldn't pop up now and then. The memories confused the boy. Some of the images in his mind didn't make any sense to him. There were maple trees, a fluffy, white cub, and a blur of yellow.
Most of the time he ignored the sudden flashbacks convincing himself they didn't mean anything.
America was chasing a rabbit around wanting to pet it. He took a quick look behind him, to see his caretaker England reading a book and occasionally sipping his tea.
Tired from chasing the bunny all day, America took a break under a large tree. He loved that tree. Somehow it made him happy just being under it. It made him feel warm and safe.
A sudden image had flashed through his mind. There was a tree similar to the one he was under and a bright sunflower field. The scene switched to a lake where a blonde boy was fishing but he couldn't see the blurred out face.
"E-eh?" The boy was confused. Where were these images coming from again.
Another few images came through his mind. A huge forest and fish came to. Then it flashed to the tree again. There was a white cub laying under it napping peacefully.
"A-aagh!" America held onto both sides of his head with his palms. All these images were giving him a headache. They were all rushing through his thoughts too fast.
An image of a golden locket with a maple tree and an eagle pulled through. Then it became the field of sunflowers again. There were two children lying on the field talking. Then it transitioned to a picture of two blonde boys, look alikes, possibly twins smiling together.
"AaaaaAAAaaaAhhH!" America screamed. It was starting to really hurt. There were too many pictures running through everywhere.
England had heard his screams and rushed over to him, concerned. "America! What's wrong?!" His British accent full of worry.
The man's accent triggered a sequence of events to occur before the young colony's eyes. There was an empty field of grass. England was there, except his face was blocked out. He reached his hand down towards America and mouthed unspoken words. Then it changed to the sunflower field again. This time there was a boy standing next to him. He had blonde wavy hair and clutched a white polar bear cub. He was looking at him. Looking at America, with bright violet eyes full of tears. He spoke softly. "Don't leave me."
Then it was to the scene where He was in England's arms. The other boy was there. He reached out for him. The boy did the same. They grasped for each other not wanting to let go. England was in the picture and pried them apart and walked away. Slowly, slowly the boy soon was out of sight. Getting farther and farther. Smaller and smaller till it was nothing but a faded memory of the past.
"Don't leave me." The boy's voice rung through the memory. "Don't leave me...brother." It flashed back to where they were in the sunflower field. The younger boy had his arms reached out trying to hold onto him. "Please?"
"America!"
"..."
"America! Snap out of it!" England shook his colony, snapping him back to the present.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah. I'm fine, Engwand." America assured his caretaker.
The Englishman sighed. "Don't scare me like that."
"I-i'm sorry." America looked down. His stomach grumbled. He blushed. "Uh uh- sorry!"
England laughed. "If you're hungry there's sandwiches and cookies on the kitchen counter."
"O-okay!" The young blonde dashed off to their cottage and went straight into the kitchen. There was an empty void in his stomach, but it wasn't because he was hungry. No, his hunger now couldn't be compared to how HE felt. HE was probably struggling without him. His brother... He left his younger twin brother out there alone. He finally had recognized the boy in the images. He had left to be pampered in a settlement and his brother was still in the wilderness.
How could he have left him?
