Chapter 4
Jaune jumps to the right barely managing to doge Runners kick as the boys foot smashes through a boulder "Cherry boy you still plan on running!" Runner yells swinging more kicks at Jaune who brings up his shield blocking.
'Dammit Cupid what do I do!" Jaune yells Cupid was being a bit quiet "Cupid I need you right now!" That seems to get the deity's attention "what... sorry Jaune I'm still trying to figure out why Hermes is doing this..."
Runner kicks Jaune in the gut sending him flying through the Ravine and rolling to the floor his shield falling a bit away from him Jaune stabs his sword into the floor pushing himself up "I get it you're worried about whatever the hell's going on but right now he's our only lead so get your head out of your ass!" Jaune yells pulling the sword from the dirt floor and slashing at the blur that came running on the Ravine wall.
"Looks like your getting angry Cherry boy" Runner says kicking far away from Jaune a gust of wind following knocking Jaune back a few feet stabbing his sword into the ground he manages to stay on his feet.
'Look I don't know what's going on!' Jaune yells inside his head as he charges Runner once again "right...right sorry Jauney boy Hermes...Hermes...he's the messenger god so speed is obvious but for his champion to be so strong he must had given away apart of his body."
Jaune jumps back "like my eyes?" Jaune ask "no this is just a curse for our contract Runner's orange compelling him to do his job as Hermes champion but Hermes isn't really a fighting type of god he does his job and thats it for his champion to attack us like this..."
Jaune blocks another kick grunting "not the time for a morality check on his champion well get our explanation once we kick his ass!" Jaune yells charging forward Runner stops for a moment sighing "to slow~" he mutters as he flips over Jaune kicking him as his foot was coming around for the landing causing Jaune to fall forward.
'Fuck he's strong' Jaune says as he catches himself managing to roll forward and spin around quick enough to see Runner in front of him coming down for an ax kick "not this time!" Jaune growls pulling his arm back and forcing his palm forward managing to stop the blow.
Runner grins "my deity his ability is sending messages we get our fair share of the power in any of our deliveries so why don't I level the playing field!" A light shines and now Cupid is out of his sword form floating in mid air "what happened?...! Jaune your arm!" Jaune looks down seeing the gauntlet he wears in the date world "Cupid must have forgotten about this but I didn't as long as the link between you and your deity is pushed a bit away you'll be able to use that gauntlet."
Jaune looks down seeing the three items appear he smiles throwing them in the air a shinning light as they vanish into thin air ice flowing around Jaune's right arm "but thats not all" Runner says "this is what I'll bring to the playing field!"
Runner yells as two Broken Red's fall from the sky a few smaller date beast behind them Runner standing on top of one of the Broken Red's. "Now even if you kill them you'll just increase my power instead of yours while all that energy you collected fades away."
Jaune wasn't listening he vanish in the rose petals appearing in the air near Runner. "Clench your teeth" Jaune yells punching a giant pillar of ice at Runner two of the date beast get in the way being ripped apart by the pillar of ice.
For only a moment does Jaune feel the energy flow into him before it seems to shoot out of him and towards Runner who glows red "nice...nice!" Runner vanishes appearing next to Jaune Runner foot raised for another ax kick Jaune goes to block again feeling something smack him into the kick.
Looking back he sees one of the date beast had rammed into him willing to take the blow to get rid of him 'you bastard!' Jaune growls in his head as the explosive kicks slams him into the ground.
Runner begins laughing "to think Hermes would ask me to fight a weakling like him." Runner complains cracking his knuckles "doesn't matter when I'm done with him I'll go home and Hermes might allow me come to the meeting with-" a fist collides with Runners gut "my master special technique Nanashi style: Shut the fuck up!" Jaune yells running forward and punching Runner again in the gut.
'Fuck did he get faster?' Runner thinks to himself firing back so Jaune couldn't hit him "ha you still think you can-" Jaune appears in front of him the rose petals flowing behind him as he cocks his fist back punching at Runner who ducks under kicking Jaune back.
Jaune slides back grinning "I figured it out!" Jaune yells with a chuckle Cupid floats over to him "what did you figure out?" He asked 'wait this wasn't their plan?' Runner thought as Jaune goes to charge him again.
The two Broken Reds fire in front of Jaune blocking his path as three wolves jump over pouncing on Jaune Runner begins laughing "ha! What'd you figure out Cherry boy as long as I've got power these creatures will keep coming and sooner or later you'll be dry!"
Jaune manages to jump out of the dog pile he was in panting his smile never leaving his face Runner growls firing forward and punching at Jaune who blocks it sliding a few inches back Runner was panting "...wait...I'm tired?" Runner says confused Jaune charges forward punching at Runner who manages to snap out of his thoughts.
Barley dogging Jaune's blow kneeing Jaune in the gut. "Told you Cherry boy you haven't figure anything out!" Jaune looks up grinning as he cocks his head back and head butts Runner sending him flying back "oh...I haven't?" Jaune says as more of the creatures begin to beat on him.
Runner sighs with relief at the sight "...it...seems...this is my...win" Runner says with a smile "I wouldn't be to sure of that" Jaune says as the date beast begin to shatter even the Broken Red's shattered "wait if they vanished that means."
Jaune grins as he lifts his hand "Cupid " Cupid snaps to attention nodding he turns into a sword Jaune puts him to his side and the gauntlet vanishes "it means you took the penalty for me getting hit!"
Runner freezes at that firing forward and punching at Jaune who pivots to the right bringing his fist back "to slow~" he says mimicking Cupid when he had said it to him Runner's eyes widen as the fist pounds him into the Ravine floor "clench your teeth!" Jaune yells as he pulls his fist back.
Runner lays there the orange in his eyes dimming a bit "no..." He groans crawling a bit away from Jaune who grabs his blade walking over to Runner "please..." Runner beg as Jaune lifts the blade "you'd only come after us if I let you go..." Jaune says firing the sword downwards Runner gasp looking down.
"Next time you come by..." Jaune says smiling "come over as a friend we can talk about this" Jaune says with a smile his blade piercing the floor next to Runner's head "...you're...you're letting me go?" Runner ask "I guess you could say that or you could say you sneaked away while I was recovering my shield over there where'd it go anyways."
Jaune says turning away from Runner and looking around for the shield "Cherry boy...thank you" Runner says Jaune turns around seeing Runner had vanished "seems like he's gone" Jaune says with a small sigh of relief falling to the Ravine floor "I can't believe you let him go why?" Cupid says Jaune looks up seeing the boy floating their
"Would you have killed him?" Jaune ask calmly "..." Jaune chuckles "see besides its not like I hate him...it was just a fight he started it I finished it I don't even know his real name you know?" Cupid sighs "I guess that's true and it seems like you manage to increase your level again." Jaune nods focusing a bit before sighing with relief "done" Jaune says calmly.
"Just rest for a bit Jaune regain your strength" Cupid says as he turns back into a sword landing next to Jaune. "I guess your right." Jaune says as he closes his eyes passing out.
"that was interesting you manage to get over one of your fears congrats." The voice says Jaune eyes snaps open he was in the same dark area as before but things seem a little brighter "so how does it feel for that weight to be lifted off your shoulders?" They ask Jaune goes to pull his blade from its casing only to feel a hand push it back in.
"Already told you Jauney boy I'm in charge here~" They chuckle Jaune lowers his hand from his swords hilt "what do you want?" Jaune ask they smile "your giving it to me so it doesn't matter I think you'll keep at it as long as I don't say anything." Jaune flinches as he feels the familiar hands begin to wrap around him.
"Looks like another one of your fears are surfacing wonder what it could be?" They say turning and walking "doesn't matter as long as thing continue this way I'm happy sweet dreams Cherry boy~" Jaune growls before being pull in he screams out "quit calling me that!" He roars finally being push into the darkness.
Chris sat at the fire Jin sitting next to him a tonfa in his hands "Jaune..." Chris says Jaune was had been staring at the fire for a long time now the hand wrapping around squeezing the light out of him "Jaune!" Chris yells Jaune looks up tiredly "yes?" He ask Chris sighs "I know what happened in there and I know what your father said...I'm sure."
"My father..." Jaune says pushing Chris's voice down with his own "he tried to kill me didn't he?" Jaune ask Chris lowers his head nodding Jin look at the two for a moment before going back to spinning the tonfa in his hand.
"Why?" Jaune ask Chris "why would he do that?" Chris shakes his head "I don't know Jaune he must have had his reasons we can ask him once we get back alright?" Jaune shakes his head "I grab a leaf from one of the trees" Jin said lifting it "this tree doesn't grow around here only on mountains so..." Jin tosses it to Jaune "show him it say you couldn't find the cave."
"Jaune...Jaune" '...my...name?' Jaune eyes open up slowly seeing a group of people standing in front of him "looks like you and that Death Stalker had it out down there Jauney boy!"
The blonde girl says "I can't believe you managed to win" Weiss says 'I'm hopping that was praise' Jaune thinks to himself. "Come on we got to get back before anything else shows up" Ruby voice rings next to Jaune who seems to still be trying to wake up. He stands up rubbing his eyes "alright...lets move" he says looking around.
"How you get me out of the Ravine?" Jaune ask "it was a serious pain don't worry about it Jauney boy" The blonde girl says with a smile Jaune shakes his head "whatever you guy's did thank you I'm just glad to have finished all this..." Jaune stumbled for a moment "don't force yourself you just fought a champion remember?"
Cupid says inside Jaune's head Jaune nods "alright lets go!" Ruby yells moving ahead of everyone else. 'Champions...I thought I was only going to have to deal with Cupids rival's but it seems as though I'll be dealing with more than one.' Jaune thinks as they walk 'it seem fighting Hermes Champion Runner was shocking to him when we get back I might want to talk to him about this later.'
"Jaune" Cupid says calmly 'yeah?' Jaune ask "I'm sorry I didn't know I was in the way of you summoning the gauntlet if I did I would have changed out long before that." Jaune sighs 'if you would have left any time sooner I wouldn't have known how to beat him so thank you...for sticking with me.'
"Looks like were finally here" Cupid says as Jaune stops everyone walking ahead seemingly relived to reach the cliff "yeah it was a bit off from where we were but not to far." Jaune says quietly "thanks for your help back there I know you died once so you might not want to die again but thank you for fighting with everything you had back there."
Jaune feels a shiver run down his spine 'right I died' Jaune thinks quietly 'who was it that I saved back then it was a woman...she had long hair and...dammit the only thing else I remember is that she was stacked and had a small heart on a neckless in those two' Jaune stops his train of thought shaking his head 'come on Jaune were going up next!'
Jaune thinks as he follows the three with him onto the stage."Jaune Arc Phyrra Nikos Lie Ren Nora Valkyrie" 'So your still in the city?' Jaune snaps his head looking around "did you hear something?" Cupid ask Jaune nods 'yeah but I'm not sure what.'
"Lead by Jaune Arc" "...!" Jaune looks up confused "wait what!" Jaune yells feeling someone punch his arm. Jaune looks over seeing Phyrra was still standing their with a smile on her face.
Two hours later
'Dear sis its been a day or two hasn't it I just finish decorating with my team...yeah I got my own team! I got to become the leader but then again you were always saying I'd be a leader I guess I owe you for this don't I?'
' My partner Phyrra she's suppose to be someone amazing and yet I still have no idea about her its confusing Nora and Ren are nice and I've met a few other people I think I can consider friends I'm actually planning on passing out after this so I'll send this letter tomorrow or the next day hope everything is good at home.

Jaune closes the notebook setting in his bag and sighing "I guess I'm turning in early..." Jaune says yawning as he drops on his bed a small light shinning under his covers Jaune lifts them a bit the other three were chatting in the background quiet enough for Jaune not to hear them loud enough for Jaune to notice.
Looking down Jaune pales a bit "Cupid what why are you in that form!" Jaune yells Cupid looks up at him his pink eyes flowing into his "I already told you I can't sleep in my sword form." Cupid says with a sly smile.
"I understand I'll try to be quiet but you'll have to help me with a big k-" Jaune lets go of the covers rolling over "just stick close to me so they won't notice." Jaune says quietly looking at the three of them.
Jaune feels the arms wrap around him and almost flinch until he feels Cupid move closer "none of jokes right now Cupid...I'm tired" Jaune yawns closing his eyes 'hopefully he can get some sleep' Cupid mutters closing his own eyes.
"No it would seem that none of them have located the two yet." They say as they walk down the street their glowing red eyes scanning the area "no I understand they'll be here soon...thank you I'll try my best."
They look up at the sky "I wonder how many will fall before they do..." They stand their for a moment then carry on "it won't matter well win in the end and thats all that matters." They say walking under a bridge multiple pairs of bright eyes shine in the darkness "lets go."
"So Runner" the man says looking at the boy who kneeled on the floor "you wish for me to talk to these two?" Runner nods "yes master" the man sighs "fine I guess I have no choice after what state you came back in I guess I should be glad you came back in one piece come on lets go."
