THE THUNDER GOD AND HIS MAIDEN

SUMARRY: Iris Potter gave up on her life as a witch. She was no longer the Girl-Who-Lived, now she was Dr. Iris Potter, an accomplished astrophysicist who works independently. One day, Jane Foster asked her to take over her project since she could no longer dedicate her time and efforts in it. Accepting her friend's request, Iris Potter did not expect a Thunder God to fall on her truck.

CHAPTER 4: HAVING A CHAT WITH A GOD

"Alright, we would go out and eat but first we need to know who you are." Iris said "I'm Iris Potter and that guy is Erik Selvig, the two of us are astrophysicists and the girl who tasered you is Darcy Lewis, she's an intern of a friend of mine."

"My name is Thor Odinson, prince of Asgard." the newly named Thor said with a dismissive glance at Iris "Where is your king? Your leader? I wish to speak with him. Tell him that the prince of Asgard, the son of the Allfather wishes to hold audience with him and his court."

"Alright." Iris drawled out "We'll take you to him after we eat. So if you would just follow Darcy then we could go ahead."

"Me? Why me?" Darcy asked from where she was sprawled on the couch

"Just do it." Iris mouthed to her

"Fine but don't blame me for whatever he learns from me!" Darcy said as she gestured for Thor to follow him "Come on prince of mustard, food awaits!"

"Are you sure it's alright to leave him with Darcy?" Erik asked once Darcy and Thor were out of earshot

"Trust me, even Darcy can't make him crazier than he already is." Iris replied

"So what do you think are we going to do with him?" Erik asked Iris

"Frankly, I would like to escort him to the nearest mental institution once we finished feeding him." Iris said

"But? I sense a but coming along." Erik said

"But the astrophysicist in me knows that he is the only way for me to finish this research." Iris said with a defeated sigh

"Are you sure you can even trust whatever that Thor guy says?" Erik asked "You said it yourself that the guy seems a bit loony."

"He does say stuff that makes me think that he's got a few screws loose but have you seen him Erik?" Iris said as he gestured towards where Thor and Darcy went "He's too well groomed, if he is as insane as we think he is then I hope every male in the planet goes mad if it means they turn into one hell of an eye candy."

"Alright, I'll forget you even told me that" Erik said as he pinched the bridge of his nose "But what if he just had a good support system?"

"Erik, good support system?" Iris asked with a raised eyebrow "Erik last time I checked, those who take care of mentally challenged patients do not turn their patients into an underwear model."

"Hey I'm just putting it out there." Erik said with a wave of his hand

"One more thing Erik," Iris said "Didn't you hear the tone of his voice, he is sure of himself, like whatever he is saying is the truth."

"If he is insane then he would naturally believe that whatever he is saying is the truth." Erik countered

"That maybe true but I feel that this time it is different. Maybe he has some psychiatric issues but I don't think he is full blown insane like what we think."

"What do you suppose we do then?" Erik asked Iris

"I guess all we can do is watch and see." Iris said "I just hope that whatever it is we find will not blow up in our faces."

"You and me both, Iris." Erik said "You have everything with you?"

"Yeah, wait!" Iris said as she grabbed a box of pop tarts and her box of treacle tarts "Now I'm ready."

"What's the pop tarts for?" Erik asked as he walked out of their headquarters with Iris

"For his majesty, prince of mustard." Iris said "I sort of feel guilty since I always hit him with the truck. This is my peace offering so he won't send the army of mustard on my ass."

"I heard what he said earlier and I know for a fact that he did not say mustard." Erik said with a small laugh

"Blame Darcy, she started it." Iris retorted "It kind of stuck with me; it has a certain kick to it."

Iris opened the door to the driver's side of the car. She turned to see if Darcy and Thor is ready to go but stopped when she saw the expression on their faces.

Thor shot her a curious and appraising look which for some reason made her want to squirm in her seat. If Thor's expression made her uncomfortable then the look Darcy was giving her terrified her. Darcy was wiggling his eyebrows at her and had a triumphant grin on her face. Basically, Darcy looked like the cat who got the canary.

Iris turned back swiftly and gripped the wheel tightly.

"I so regret leaving him with Darcy." Iris whispered to Erik who was seating beside her

"I told you so, Iris." Erik replied with a small smile

Loki's brisk walk denied the chill he was feeling deep inside of him.

He walked with a purpose, his glance never leaving the key to all the questions plaguing his mind.

Once he reached his destination, he stopped. Doubt and hesitation started to fill his mind.

'Am I right to be here?'

'What if I was wrong?'

'Am I just over-reacting?'

'Am I making problems out of nowhere?'

These questions filled his mind as he gazed into the treasure that the Jotuns hold dear, the Casket of Eternal Winters.

Loki slowly placed his hands on both sides of the casket and slowly lifted it from its place.

"Stop!"

Loki paused as he heard the shout. He knew that voice too well, the voice of his father.

"Am I cursed?" Loki asked and was glad to hear that his voice lacked the hesitation and doubt that he was feeling inside.

"No." Odin immediately answered

Loki would have believed his father. He would have believed any lie that his father would have said if the truth was not facing him entirely.

He watched as his hands that hold the casket slowly turn blue. He gazed as the color of the Jotuns slowly spread to his arms, and he did not need to see it to know that his irises are turning into a bleeding red reminder of the Jotuns.

"What am I?" Loki asked as he removed his gaze from his arms

"You're my son." Odin said with no hesitation

'Lies' Loki thought to himself.

He slowly lowered the casket back into its place before turning to face the Allfather. He turned to show the abomination that he turned into.

"What more than that?" Loki asked once his eyes met that of his father's.

He walked towards his father. His stride was strong, reflecting his strong desire, his strong need to know the truth. He may be known for his ability to spin tales and bend the truth but he above all else despises lies when the truth is undeniable.

"The Casket was not the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day was it?" Loki asked

The silence that his father, no, Odin gave him was answer enough.

"No." Odin answered after a few seconds of silence

"In the aftermath of the battle, I went into the temple and I found a baby" Odin explained "Small for a giant's offspring. Abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufeyson."

Loki felt as if the ground crumbled and swallowed him whole. The cold he felt was now enveloping his entire being.

"Laufeyson?" Loki asked

"Yes." Odin replied

"Why?" Loki asked in confusion and despair "You were knee-deep in Jotun's blood. Why would you take me?"

"You were an innocent child." Odin calmly answered

"No, you took me for a purpose" Loki argued, not accepting the reason the Allfather gave him "What is it?"

Odin gazed sadly at Loki. Loki hated it, that pitying glance; the disappointment that can be seen in Odin's remaining eye.

"Tell me!" Loki demanded

"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day." Odin answered in a tone opposite of Loki's "Bring about an alliance, bring about permanent peace. Through you."

Loki stared at Odin in disbelief. All this time he was nothing more than a bargaining chip. Unwanted by the Jotuns and seen as a tool by the Asgardians.

"What?" Loki shakily asked

"But those plans no longer matter." Odin said to Loki

"So I'm no more than another stolen relic" Loki said as he glared hatefully at Odin "Locked up here until you might have use of me."

"Why do you twist my words?" Odin asked Loki

"You could have told me what I was from the beginning, why didn't you?" Loki asked, ignoring what Odin said

"You're my son" Odin calmly explained "I wanted only to protect you from the truth."

"Why? Because I'm the monster parents tell their children about at night?" Loki asked

"No, no-" Odin said

"You know, it all makes sense now!" Loki interrupted whatever Odin was about to say "Why you favoured Thor all these years! Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on the throne of Asgard!"

While Loki ranted and released all his anger and frustrations, Odin felt his body weaken. He is no longer at his peak and the last few days were tiring for him. The power needed to save his sons and his warriors from Jotunheim, the power he used to banish Thor and the power he released to take away Mjolnir and send it away was taking a toll on him.

His body slowly crumpled and he was slowly losing consciousness as he saw Loki walk towards him with his eyes full of fear and anxiety, a look he never thought would cross his son's face. And it was that look that he saw last before he let the dark embrace of sleep take him.

Loki stared in shock and confusion at his father's unconscious form. He placed his hands on his father's own, sighing in relief when he felt his father was still alive.

"Guards!" Loki shouted "Guards, please! Help!"

The doors of the vault opened and Loki took a step back as the Asgardian Guards hastily entered ad approached Odin's unconscious body once they saw him.

"Don't touch that!" Iris exclaimed as she saw Thor's hands reaching for her box of treacle tarts from the rear view mirror.

"I'm hungry, I need sustenance." Thor said to Iris

"You don't touch Iris' treacle tarts, ever." Darcy said to Thor "Besides you just finished a whole box of pop tarts."

"Hand that box to me." Iris said to Darcy, her hands stretched out to receive the box of treacle tarts.

Darcy grabbed the box and placed it on Iris' hands. Iris nodded in thanks to Darcy before shooting a glare towards Thor. Thor, once seeing the glare directed his way, merely raised an eyebrow and smirked at Iris.

Iris fumed in irritation at her seat and shot a glare towards Darcy instead.

"Whatever it is you said to him." Iris said to Darcy "Know that I hate you for it."

"You'll thank me soon enough Iris." Darcy said with a wiggle of his eyebrow "You'll thank me soon enough."

The rest of the ride was quiet as they drove towards one of the few diners in Puente Antiguo.

"We're here." Iris said as she parked in front of Isabella's Diner

The four of them; Iris, Thor, Darcy, and Erik; got out of the car and entered the small diner.

The place was comfortable and refreshing, the bright rays of sunlight flooding the place and the homey ambiance of the diner quickly enveloping the four of them.

"Hello Izzy!" Iris greeted the old lady at the other side of the diner's counter.

"Good morning Iris!" the old lady greeted Iris "Just sit and I'll have someone with you in a second."

"Sure thing Izzy."

"Look here is the deal," Iris said to Thor once the four of them were seated "We will give you your 'sustenance' and in exchange you will answer our questions got it?"

"Alright, I see no problem with that." Thor replied to Iris

"Good morning! Welcome to Isabella's, what can I get you?" a perky brunette waitress asked the four of them before Iris could ask Thor her questions.

"Hi, we'll have four plates of-"

"The unborn." Darcy interrupted Iris before she could order anything

"What?" the waitress asked in confusion as she stared at Darcy

"We want you to give us the unborn. Four steaming plates of the unborn." Darcy said with a blank emotionless gaze fixed on the waitress.

The waitress took a step back from their table and looked fearfully at Darcy. The people around them stopped talking and looked at their table intently. A mother shielded her child from Darcy's view, an old man hid behind his newspaper, Erik sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose; Thor looked between Darcy and the waitress in confusion, while Iris banged her head loudly on the table.

"Eggs," Iris said before she lifted her head from the table "She means eggs; we would like to have four plates of eggs and bacon."

The waitress nodded quickly at Iris before briskly walking away from their table.

Iris and Erik glared at Darcy's whistling figure.

"What?!" Darcy asked

"Just forget it Iris." Erik said with a sigh

Iris nodded in defeat, knowing that there is nothing she could do to change her admittedly odd friend.

"Is it you inside that cloud formation, yesterday?" Iris immediately asked Thor, any thought of Darcy and her oddity shelved away for a later discussion

"Yes, that was I." Thor answered

Before Iris could ask anymore question, four plates of bacon and eggs were quickly placed in front of them. Once her job was done, the waitress left as quick as she came all the while not looking at anyone in their table.

"Looks like we will never be able to eat here again." Iris sighed

Iris was about to continue interrogating Thor but one look at him and she knew that it was a lost cause.

Thor along with Darcy was shoving the food down his throat in a pace that would cause their stomachs to protest later.

"Just eat, Iris." Erik said as he patted Iris' shoulder

Iris nodded in defeat, when faced with a hungry delusional man and Darcy there is no way she could win.

AUTHOR'S NOTE (PLEASE READ): First of all please answer this question. It will decide as to which route this story will be going on. I want to ask your opinion as to whether or not a certain event would take place in the storyline, the next chapter to be exact. If you do not want it to be included then the story will take on an adventure-romance- with less Darcy and Erik theme going on for the rest of the chapters, if you do want it to happen then the next chapters would take o a comedy-fluff romance- Darcy and Erik included theme going on. The event is this: Thor's seduction of Iris. Just leave your answer in a review and I would stop counting the votes after a week. The entire thing is written so all I need is the go-signal. Go vote and we will see just how this thing turns out.
