It was evening when Elrond woke again, his vision was blurry and he felt weak so weak that he almost could not move at all.

He was laying face down on a wooden plank, it was not the most comfortable position and almost constantly splashed water into his face.

He gathered the last of his strength to move on his back. Elrond could see the stars now, they were so bright and so far away. He saw Earendil, his father sailing in the night sky with the Silmarill on his head as a beacon of hope.

Even now seeing his father made him stronger, he did not want to give up now-no, he wanted to live and see his parents, family and friends alive in Valinor.

A few minutes later, his vision went completely black and he fell into unconsciousness.

It was still night when Elrond opened his eyes again the salt water was burning in his wounds and even breathing hurt his abused lungs.

He send a desperate prayer to the Valar, he almost begged for them to save him.

Only moments after that I calming wave of safety was rushing over his mind and soul. He felt how something pulled him deeply into unconsciousness and then he saw Lorien, the Valar of Visions and dreams in front of him.

Lorien whispered calming and reassuring words and softly stroked Elrond's hair. Elrond tried to get up but found that his body still hurt as much inside the dream as before.

Lorien spoke calmly:

"Don't move. You are gravely hurt and you need the rest. I am here to help: Although we Valar can not help you while you are outside of Valinor's borders, we can still ease your pain. I can not physically move you but I can move your mind to a different place. When you wake again, you will be in Valinor. You only have to keep hanging onto life. Rest now and enjoy your dreams."

Days passed in Valinor and there still wasn't a word from Elrond or how he was faring. Erestor took that as a good sign, a sign that Elrond was still alive.

He did his best to comfort Celebrian but she was always tense and worried, there never was a smile on her face any more and the only thing she did all day long was staring at the horizon to see a sign of Elrond.

Erestor couldn't blame her, he would do the same if he was in her position.

No one could be really happy in Valinor, knowing that Elrond was still out there, freezing and hurting.

With everyday that passed sank the possibility of Elrond being with them again- alive and well sank.

The suddenly one day, Celebrian saw a dark figure lying at the beach. His clothes were ripped and dirty, blood was almost everywhere on his body and he didn't seem to move. She ran towards him, finally recognizing him. When she saw in what state he was in, she felt like crying.

Almost immediately, healer came and put Elrond on a stretcher, they were careful not to move him to much.

Time passed slowly that day and when the healers had finally finished, Celebrian stormed to Elrond's side. He was still unconscious but on his way back to health. She was holding his hand and was studying his face. He had sorrow, joy, happiness and despair written over his face.

She felt guilty for leaving Elrond alone in Middle earth with the children, her children. They would never come to Valinor for they had all found happiness with a mortal life.

She was drawn out of her thoughts by a quiet "Hello".

Celebrian focused on Elrond again and she was overjoyed to see that he was looking back at her, his grey eyes wide open and filled with surprise.

It took a long time until Elrond was completely healed but he was allowed to leave the bed after a week. He sat on a bench next to Celebrian, watching the sunset. They had both accepted that they wouldn't see their children again. Elrond smiled and snuggled closer to Celebrian, feeling at peace for the first time in hundredth years. Time couldn't heal the pain, but it made it bearable until finally you'd be united with the person you belong to again.
