4) The War And Liz's idea
"Liz! What did you do to Peter?" Susan asked, walking into Liz's room.
Liz looked up and Susan realized that she had been crying. "I didn't mean to, it just came out!" She explained the whole story to Susan, who just sat there in silence, Liz finally said, "I was blushing so badly, I didn't want him to see! It came out the wrong way, I sounded like I didn't want to see him at all!" More tears came, and Liz buried her head in Susan's shoulder. "He probably hates me now!"
Susan tried comforting her, to no avail. "Please Liz, come down to dinner, he probably won't even be there!" This made Liz cry harder, and she refused to leave her room.
"Where are Peter and Liz?" Lucy asked as they all sat at the dinner table.
"Liz is in her room, extremely upset." Susan said, not adding any details.
"And Peter's in his room, extremely upset, and not willing to give up any information." Stephen added.
"Think there's any connection?" Edmund asked, and only silence answered him.
Liz had basically cried all of the tears she had, when she decided to see if Peter was in his room. She tried to clean herself up the best she could, then she ran to the other end of the castle. When she finally reached his door, she became really nervous, hoping he had gone to dinner. She knocked on his door and it opened.
He looked distraught, his face was relaxed, but his eyes held a vast amount of pain. He looked surprised to see her, taking in her red-rimmed eyes and tear-stained face.
"Did you have something to say?" He asked; his eyebrows arched up into his forehead.
"Umm… Ye-Yeah." Liz stuttered nervously. "I wanted to say I was sorry for earlier, I didn't mean to make it sound like I didn't want to see you. Because I do, it's just, well, you umm…"
"Yes?" Peter prodded.
"Well, I was blushing because we had brushed hands when you handed me the book so," Liz took a deep breath before continuing. "I was hiding behind the book. I didn't want you to see me blushing beat red so that's why I said what I said."
"Why exactly were you blushing?" Peter asked, a wolfish grin on his face.
"Bloody hell Peter! Why do you think I was blushing?" Liz yelled, getting frustrated. No matter how mature Peter was, he still had a tiny bit of Teenage Boy Syndrome.
"Are you suggesting that you might possible like me?" Peter teased. Before he knew what was happening, Liz had pressed her lips against his.
Stephen (the biggest eater in Cair Paravel at the moment) was halfway through dessert when Liz and Peter walked in, hand in hand.
"FINALLY!" He yelled, and the rest of the people in the room cheered. Liz blushed and sat down in her seat next to Peter. Everyone was so happy; it was like a picture, one that is so unreal and perfect. They all knew it couldn't last…
"King Peter!" Sirius galloped toward Peter and Liz, who had just finished dueling.
"What is it Sirius?" Peter asked warily.
"The enemies I warned you about have entered Archenland. They are trying to conquer it, if they do, they will move on to Narnia." Sirius quickly explained.
"Send a runner to the King, and send with him a message saying we will send over a portion of our army if they need it." Sirius nodded, and galloped off to send the runner.
"What does this mean Peter?" Liz asked quietly.
"It means that we just might have a war on our hands, a war that you are going to stay out of." Peter said matter-of-factly.
"I will fight if I want to!" Liz replied hotly. She stood up to walk away, but Peter caught her wrist and pulled her back to him.
"Let's just see when it comes, I don't want to fight." He said. Liz just nodded, snuggling against his chest.
"Awwww… Look at them, they're so cute together!" Susan gushed as she and Lucy watched Liz and Peter together.
"Now we just need to get you and Stephen together." Lucy said.
"Like that's going to happen with the impending war." Susan sighed.
"You never know…" Lucy trailed off. All of a sudden, they witnessed Stephen run out to the couple. Stephen looked like he was saying something to them. Peter looked straight at them on the balcony, and yelled, "SUSAN! LUCY! STOP SPYING ON ME!"
The two girls laughed and ran back into Susan's room.
A few days later, the six of them were sitting at the dinner table, when Sirius came in.
"They are on their way to Narnia." He said, clearly worried.
Peter stood up, "When will they arrive?"
"In a weeks time." Sirius replied.
"Gather our armies, put out a call to anyone and everyone in the country who are willing to fight for their country and their freedom." Peter ordered. "I want everyone her in five days. All women and children are encouraged to find the nearest safe haven, or come here to Cair Paravel if needed." Sirius nodded and left.
"I'm going to fight." Stephen said standing up.
"So am I," Liz said, also standing up.
"Liz, you will not fight." Peter said through gritted teeth.
"You can't tell me what to do!" Liz yelled.
"Elizabeth Cullen, you will not fight, I order you as the King of Narnia!" Peter yelled back. Liz stormed out of the room, Susan at her heels.
"What is he thinking, ordering me not to fight?" Liz ranted.
"He's just trying to keep you safe, you should listen!" Susan said.
"I'm not going to sit back and let the men fight for my own freedom! I am going to fight, no matter what the High King Peter says!" Liz said. She looked around the room, hoping for an answer.
"As long as you are Elizabeth Cullen, and a woman, Peter is not going to let you fight." Susan said, hoping that would settle the matter. Liz got a semi-crazy look and she looked at Susan.
"What if I wasn't?"
