Taboo
I feel I should explain that in the last chapter, Cameron did not add chocolate to the tacos, but chocolate laxative. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.
For this chapter, feel free to flame. This is more shock humor than anything. And it is obviously AU.
Morning sun came in from the window, filling the room with light and birdsong. John slowly opened his eyes. He was about to get up but something weighed him down.
"Hey sleepyhead," he said. "You need to wake up."
Cameron turned her head to face him. "I do not sleep John. You know that."
"I've seen you sleep before," John said.
"I shut down because I have no choice," she said. "I run out of energy quite quickly."
John gave her a kiss on the lips. "You know we have to get up soon. Mom won't approve of this."
"Since when have we cared about what she thinks?" Cameron asked.
"We at least tried," John said.
"You tried," Cameron corrected. "I made my feelings quite clear to you."
"You did not!"
John's incredulous statement made her laugh. "As clear as I could be. Romance is not my strong suit."
"I've noticed," John said. "I really like this suit, though."
He turned her face around to kiss her again. This one was full of love and purpose. They pulled away and stared in each other's eyes.
"That is a kiss," Cameron said. "I will never understand how you fooled those other girls in thinking you loved them."
John leaned back in annoyance. "You had to bring up Riley, didn't you?"
"And Sherrie, and Gracie, and Katherine, and -"
"I get it!"
John could see a small smile grow on Cameron's face. Despite her amusement, he still felt an apology was necessary. "I'm sorry. I was so scared of what would happen. I tried so hard to keep away from you."
"You were scared of what others would think that much?" Cameron asked.
"I was scared of myself," John said. "I can take war and death and pain easy. Love is new to me. I know mom loves me, but she shows it differently."
"She does not like to bake cookies on Saturday and watch TV," Cameron agreed.
"She tried baking cookies once," John said. "That's why we have the fire department on speed dial."
Now the both of them were laughing. They settled back down and relaxed, savoring the beautiful morning.
"They will never accept this relationship," Cameron said. "Not now, and not in the future."
"You know that for a fact?" John said.
"I feel it," Cameron said.
"I don't think people will care that much," John said.
"People are stubborn," Cameron said. "They hold deeply onto values and tradition, no matter how foolish it may be."
"Then we focus on the true war," John said. "If they want to infight, it can wait until the true battle is over."
"You are determined," Cameron said. "That's why you were meant to lead."
"Oh, come on," John said. "I'll have you beside me."
"But you were born for it, destine for it," Cameron said. "I just happened to come second."
"How could mom have known you'd show up?" John asked. "She loves you too. It's not like you're her burden."
"I know," Cameron said. "I just wanted to hear you say it."
They came together for one more kiss. Cameron started to pull away, but John held her back. "John," she whispered against his lips, "you said we have to get up."
"Uh-uh!" John said. "You started this, now we have to finish it!"
"Mom will not be happy if we are late."
John looked into her eyes and prepared a cheesy line.
"JOHN AND CAMERON CONNOR! GET YOUR LAZY BUTTS DOWN HERE NOW! YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" Sarah's voice came from the downstairs kitchen.
"COMING MOM!" The two giggled as they realized they had spoken in unison.
"Well, that's my cue," Cameron said. "Better get back to my room."
John watched her cute butt climb out of the bed. She gathered her clothes and opened the door, careful not to wake Derek.
"See you for breakfast," John said.
"See you too," Cameron lowered her head. "Bro."
She closed the door behind her, leaving John to chuckle at her pet name.
