My training started the next morning before Ka-chan's shift at the hospital.

We went to the small training ground close to our apartment building. It was a quiet and secluded area surrounded by trees. The summer sun was shining and a small breeze rustled the leaves of the trees.

"When you turn six, you'll be old enough to join the academy." She told me and I grinned bouncing on my feet. "But you won't be allowed."

My face fell.

"But Ka-chan! You told me I could become a ninja like you!" I cried.

"Yes, but I'm not going to let you do that until you can prove to me you have the dedication."

"I'll do whatever it takes!" I yelled.

"Alright, if you want to join the academy then you have to pass my test first." She said with a bit of evil grin.

"If you want to be a ninja you have to be able to draw my blood in a fight." She said.

"What?! But I don't want to hurt you K-chan." I said.

"I don't care. If you want to be a ninja you have to be able to draw the blood of your enemies. It's the only way we can use our kekkei genkai in battle. When you can cut me in a spar, I'll let you join the academy." She explained.

"Why do we have to cut them to use it?"

"I'll show you." She said pulling a kunai from the holster on her leg.

She used the tip of the blade to prick her finger and motioned for my hand.

I held it out to her and winced when she pricked mine as well. A dark red bead of blood ran down my finger. I felt slightly hypnotized at the sight of it.

She took her own bloody finger and pressed it into mine.

"Blood Release: Flesh Puppet"

I felt an energy course through me and suddenly I couldn't move. Every muscle in my body seized up. I was paralyzed. Ka-chan twitched her hand and my arm shot out, completely out of my own control. Her hand twitched again and my hand came up to smack myself on the forehead.

"Ow! Hey! What'd you do that for?!" I grumbled at her while she snickered.

She released me from the jutsu and I stumbled when I regained control of my body.

"With our Ketsuatsu we can only control our blood, not others. But if you can manage to get even a scratch on your opponent with a kunai that you coat in your own blood, once your blood enters their body, you can control them as well. It's extremely powerful, but very difficult to control." She explained.

"It also has benefits to people use medical ninjutsu like me. You can use a Blood Release jutsu by putting your blood into the wound and using your chakra to heal them. But it comes at a cost. The greater the injury, the more life force it takes from you. Your internal organs will take on the damage and eventually fail. It takes impeccable control and is incredibly dangerous, thats why I myself have only used it a handful of times and only when absolutely necessary." She told me seriously.

"I understand Ka-chan." I nodded.

"Good. So now, we can begin your training. And when you can manage to make me bleed, I'll allow you to start at the academy. You won't be able to train in Blood Release until you awaken your kekkei genkai, but there are things you have to leatn first. The Blood Release technique is a combination of Water Style and Yang Release jutsu, so we will begin with those, along with basic taijutsu and weapons training." Her voice was very stern, I'd never seen this side of her before.

"Whatever it takes." I promised to both her and myself.

Without warning, she threw her kunai at me and I had to dive to the ground to escape getting hit by it. My first spar with Ka-chan had just begun and I was convinced she wanted me dead by the end. I now fully understood that she wasn't just my Ka-chan or a doctor, she was a Jonin as well.

3 months after my sixth birthday, I sparred with my Ka-chan on one of her fews days off when it finally happened.

I finally cut her! My shuriken had barely grazed her, but still! I had done it!

My eyes zeroed in on the on the small cut that graced her cheek, the small trickle of blood making me grin. I was panting and my heart was racing from our sparring, but the sight of her blood exhilarated me.

She touched her hand to her to her cheek pulling it back to see the blood. She smiled at her now bloody finger and looked back to me.

"Congratulations Akira, you're ready to join the academy." She told me.

I was in my third year at the academy when I met my mortal enemy.

Rin Nohara.

"Ka-chan! This kid got hit in the leg during target practice today! It was so cool!" I yelled excitedly when I barreled into the hospital room that she was supposed to be working in today.

Instead, there was a girl who was slightly older than myself, looking up at me in suprise from her examination of the man that was supposed to be Ka-chan's patient. She had short brown hair framing her face that was partially covered in purple makeup. On her forehead she had a hitai-ate.

"Who the hell are you? Where's Ka-chan?" I blurted out.

She looked shocked at my sudden appearance and outburst before recovering.

"You must be Kana-sensei's daughter. I'm Rin Nohara, I just made genin and she's been mentoring me for the past few weeks when I'm not busy with my team. Kana-sensei got called into an emergency surgery earlier so I'm checking up on her patients while she's busy, but she should be finishing up soon if you want to wait." She said smiley sweetly at me.

"Ugh, fine." I pouted and flopped onto the empty hospital bed next to the door, and she went back to recording her patient's vitals.

"So what's your name? Kana-sensei never mentioned it, just that she had a daughter in the academy." Rin asked.

"My names Akira." I huffed.

"Huh? but that's a boy's name?" She said, eyebrows furrowed.

My eye twitched in annoyance.

"It's unisex!" I shouted, my temper rising.

"Kira-chan, please try to keep the dramatic outbursts to a minimum. This is a place of healing." Ka-chan said from behind me.

"Ka-chan! You won't believe what happened today! This dumb kid in my class hit another boy in the leg during target practice, and blood squirted everywhere, It was totally awesome!" I rambled to her about my school day while she went to check her patient's chart.

"Rin, how's his blood pressure looking?" She asked her assistant, tuning me out in full on work mode.

I pursed my lips and felt anger begin to cloud my brain as Rin took Ka-chan's attention from me. I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at the girl.

"His blood pressure has returned to healthy levels Sensei. He seems to be recovering fine." Rin answered her dutifully.

"Good, he should be waking up soon. Make sure he gets something to eat when he's conscious, but keep him on a liquid only diet for now until we see how he's keeping food down. I have another operation scheduled in 20 minutes so i'm putting you in charge of my post-ops." Ka-chan directed her.

"Hai sensi."

Ka-chan patted Rin's head and and handed her the chart before finally turning her attention to me.

"I'll be home by 6 for dinner Kira-chan, make sure your homework's done by then alright?" She said before walking out of the room to prep for her next surgery.

I stayed, staring down Rin while she carried on her earlier work. The longer i stood there watching her, the more I fumed. My anger slowly turned into full on rage with the older girl when I finally blew my top.

"Hey! Just who the hell do you think you are?!" I demanded.

"Wha-?" She looked confused, but I cut her off.

"You think you can just come in here and steal my Ka-chan?! You don't know who your dealing with Nohara, I will end you!" I yelled pointing a finger at her.

She stared at me in shock for a minute before she started giggling. I could feel my blood boil as she doubled over in uncontrollable laughter.

"What's so funny?! I'm serious!" I stomped my foot and she just laughed harder, crying now.

"I'm sorry, Kira-chan, its just your so cute! Like a little angry kitten." She said wiping her teary eyes.

"Don't call me that! Only Ka-chan can call me Kira-chan!"

"Kira-chan is so much cuter though, it fits you better than a boy's name." She teased me.

"IT'S UNISEX!" I cried.

A nurse barged in then, hearing my hysterics from the hallway and I gulped seeing Nurse Suki. She had a zero tolerance policy for my scenes.

"Akira! Are you trying to disturb the entire hospital?! How many times do I have to deal with you before you get it through your head that there are sick people trying to rest! I've had enough with the temper tantrums. Come on, it's time for you to go home!" She said admonished.

"This isn't over Nohara!" I yelled while Suki grabbed me by the ear and dragged me away.

A/N: Finishing this chapter proved to be a little annoying because of my tendency to think to far ahead lol. I've got my over all outline finished to around the uchiha massacre right now and every time i think of a scene i want to include in the future I get annoyed with writing were I'm at now and end up writing scenes that i'm like 20 chapters away from being able to use. Anyway, Akira meets Rin and we see her ridiculously unstable jealousy issues! Let me know how you feel about this one!
