Chapter 3
"And this is the 40th floor, where you'll be working." Sam said showing Paulina around as Danny sulked while he followed behind them because Sam refused to let him leave, Danny meeting the girl he crush on for nearly two years in high school was just to weird. Paulina was rather surprise to see him to and even more at how good he look now, long hair that reach down to his back tie in a pony tail, wide shoulders and she could tell that he had gotten very muscled since they last saw one another.
"Sam why am I still here again? I got to head to work soon." Danny told causing Sam to turn to him and smirked, oh she was so going to utilize full teasing rights after this.
"Please I know you got a late call today, beside you two haven't seen one another in so long, don't you want to hear how she's been?" Sam ask grinning causing Danny to frown (Yup, she is defiantly playing matchmaker, again. Oh the irony…it kills me.) Danny thought groaning and he gave her a dirty look that said she should stop it right now, Sam just stuck her tongue out at him childishly. Mean while Paulina couldn't help but smile at the two, even after all this time they hadn't really change and their friendship was still as strong as ever.
"Umm if I'm going to be working on this floor then how will I be working with you?" Paulina ask bring their attention back to the matter at hand.
"That simple, floors 41 through 45 are where my 14 board of director's work with the 47th floor belonging to me alone. The 40th floor is where the secretary's work and the 46th floor is where my head director of all operations works or Vice-CEO." Sam explained as they kept walking, passing by office's of people working.
"At any give time there are at least 26 secretary, 14 belonging to each director, 2 my Vice-CEO, 8 working for the administrator's and the last two working for the CEO which is me, that means you will report only to me and no one else, there should be no reason why any of my director's would tell you what to do without my say so." Sam stated and Paulina nodded understanding everything so far.
"And what about the other secretary's, do they report to you as well?" Paulina ask.
"Yes and no, as the CEO everyone works under me, director's, secretary's, general affairs, administrator's and everything else. but unless there a good reason I don't really mess with others secretary out of respect for my worker's." hearing this Paulina was really liking how Sam ran this company of her, coming up to an office Paulina was surprise to see all the high-quality things, and various furnishings that adorn the office.
"This will be where you will work, for the next three days you'll be gave several books on the work you'll be doing and coming to me to finish to you're in processing then until Monday your free to come here and check out your work place to ready yourself for your new job." Sam told Paulina who was tracking everything so far. "Any questions?"
"Just one right now, will there be anyone to show me around?" Paulina ask.
"Yes you will be a sigh to one of the other secretary's who will show you the ropes for the next two months." Sam replied, (That makes sense, still never thought the day would come where I'd be working for Samantha Manson of all people.) Paulina thought wonder just how her life ended up like this.
"Doing these two months think of them as time to get use to working here." Sam continue.
"You'll make mistakes that a given, but doing this timeline as long as their not too costly to the company they'll be over look. However after your two months are up, you should be able to handle things without the need of a baby sitter around to help you." Sam told her, Paulina was hanging on to every word that was being said and knew there was a lot more to learn, at that moment Sam's phone went off causing her to pick it up.
"Sorry one moment please, Hello Jenny... Mr. Yurimaki is here? But the meeting isn't until next month!... I see, send him up then." Sam said before closing her phone but now look very unhappy causing Danny to rise an eye brow.
"Isn't Yurimaki the business man you've been talking about that head of the-" Danny started when Sam cut in.
"The solar power project? Yes, yes he is! Anyway I've got to speak with him now so we'll continue tomorrow Paulina." Sam said as they begin making their way to the elevator.
"Um- Right, so then what time should I come back then." Paulina said wondering if things like this happen lot.
"9:30 should be fine, but if your here a little earlier that a plus, we'll finish your paper work then, and on the third day I should have someone ready to show you the ropes for when you start on Monday." Sam stated as they reach the elevator and luck would have someone just came down.
"Anyway I'll be going up now, if you have any questions save them to tomorrow." Sam said quickly getting on the elevator with saying only a good bye, Danny scratch his head and sigh before pressing the button for the next elevator to come.
"Sorry about that but this Yurimaki guy been giving her a hard time for a while now." Danny mumble to Paulina who only nodded back, waiting for the elevator to come awkwardness couldn't be anymore apparent. In High school doing the middle of the third year Danny surprising everyone had gotten over his crush on her, or rather everyone had finally realize that he had long since been over his crush on Paulina some time doing the summer before hand or maybe even somewhere at end of the second year.
"Sooo... you and Valerie still going out?" Paulina ask out of the blue trying to start some small talk in her own way, Danny for his part rubbed the back on his neck in embarrassment.
"I wonder if you can really call that as us going out? It was more about the sex then anything else." Danny mutter quietly, knowing both had known It wouldn't last long and once both got it out of their systems they likely break up... and they did.
"We broke up year's ago, right now she been trying to get into a relationship with Tucker who's become a bit of a playboy." Danny told Paulina who blink a few times in shock at hearing that about Tucker.
"We hook up from time to time since I'm still single and since Tucker pretty much a womanizer now so is Valerie." now that really surprise her Paulina since the last time she saw the geeky boy he still had a hard time getting a lady, (Guess a lot can change after High school, huh...) Paulina thought with a shaky smile.
"Your not still mad about the whole... you know, are you?" Danny ask noticing the elevator doors opening, getting inside and pressing the button one, Paulina face had taken on a frown.
"Oh you mean how the whole you and Valerie were using me to hide the fact the you two were going out? I think I'm still a little tick at that." Paulina growl, Danny just gave a half grin at her words.
"Again, it was more about the sex then anything else, and it not my fault you guys kept missing the rather obvious sighs that something was going between us." Danny counter and Paulina annoyance raise at the fact he was telling the truth. See the main reason it take so long for everyone to realize the two were in an intimate relationship was because he was still dropping sigh's that he like Paulina or rather fake sigh's that he still like her anyway, everyone still thinking he was a hardcore Paulina fanboy never take notice of how he and Valerie disappear together at the same time a lot, or how they always show up late together or even how doing lunch time they vanish and then show back up at class with their cloth's all mess up and had an sex after glow... when it became clear as to what was really going on a lot of people felt like morons for not realizing sooner
"Okay I'll admit we should have given you more credit than that but did you really have to fake having crush on me just to hide it?" Paulina ask as they reach the bottom floor.
"Hey in case you forgot you use my crush on you when it suited you, why shouldn't I have done the same." Danny replied walking out with Paulina who bite her lip, not able to help the feeling of guilt that slowly began to overwhelm her. Was this perhaps one of the reasons Star left her, because she was so full of herself that she became everything around her, not to mention as soon as their little game was up Danny never even look at her with anything other than boredom after that.
"Besides, that was, like, years ago, so why don't we just forgive and forget?" Danny ask as they headed out the front door.
"I guess, it was a long time along so I won't hold a grudge." Paulina said amicably as they reach a white corvette.
"Sweet, glad hear it, by the way, you need a ride any where?" Danny ask smiling as he open the door to which Paulina and nodded. "Yeah, 4th Mary's place please."

On the road Paulina found herself once again in an awkwardness silence, she just could think of anything to talk about at the moment and decide to just say what came to mind.
"How Star doing?" Paulina ask, Danny's eye's turn to her before going back to the road.
"Fine, last I heard she was planing on leaving the UFC to get marry to some guy name Harry Thomson but haven't I've talk to her in a while so that might just be a rumor. We haven't heard from her in a few months now."
"That nice to hear." Paulina said rubbing her arm, Star was still a sore spot for her but she had to ask.
"Yeah but that if she quits from what I heard her manage is trying to keep her from quitting the game since she's the foremost best woman in the UFC." Danny added and Paulina smile at knowing this was true, even if they hadn't talk much Paulina still follow Star's matches.
"Soooo. How are things with your family?" Paulina said not able to think of anything else and wanted to keep the talk going, Danny look a bit surprise she would ask but answer anyway after a pause.
"Well, my sister and dad die five years ago in a robber... and as for my mom...? Well, we haven't spoken or seen one another since then... In truth I don't know where she is now." Danny said lowly, Paulina look very shock to hear this and wanted to ask what happen so badly but felt that was asking too much too fast.
"I see, I guess everyone change over the years huh, I mean just look at Sam who would had thought she would end up a CEO of her own company!" Paulina chuckle and Danny tense for a moment, something Paulina notice. "Sams been through a lot."
"Let just say a lot happen after high school, and some of it had an impact on all of us." Danny stated.
"You remember that party me, Sam, Star, Valerie, and Tucker went to? Lets just say things happen that a few of us wish we could change." Paulina shut up at this, she could tell it was something bad that change them not that she knew what but Paulina had no plans to mess up such a good thing like this. The drive was an hour long before they got to her place and Danny pull up to her apartment.
"Thank for the ride Danny." Paulina getting out the car.
"Sure, since you'll be working for Sam now I guess we'll see one another around now." Danny said, causing Paulina eye's to glance over his body before look up at him and finding herself liking the idea.
"Yeah I guess so, it was really nice to see you again Danny." Paulina said closing his door, Danny simply smile but then look a bit unsure of something.
"Yeah, same here... um if you ever need a ride Feel free to call me. I'll help you out if I can." Danny said handing her a card with his name on it Paulina smile and take it gladly, saying thanks Danny wave good-bye and driving off. Watching him go Paulina smile as things were finally looking up for her now.
"No way am I messing this up." Paulina said with determination before walking to her apartment to get ready for her new job.

Saturday night
It was close to ten o-clock at night as Paulina was at her apartment fishing through the refrigerator looking for something to eat, she had finish all of the paper work and was due to start working as Sam's secretary the day after tomorrow... that is if she didn't starve to death first.
"God I miss our cook." Paulina moan, she hated cooking and ate out most of the time but she didn't feel like going out at the moment and yet had nothing that was quick to eat, (What has my life come too.) Paulina wonder closing the refrigerator, and walk back to the living room to flop down on the couch, she take a moment to look her self over, she was wearing a pair of really short boxer and a small tight tank top that show off her C but very close to D cup breast. Her skin was said to look exotic and her hair was soft and shiny, all in all Paulina was sure she was a bombshell and yet here she was sitting alone on Saturday night looking for some leftovers to eat.
"This is not how my life was supposed to turn out." Paulina groan until the phone ring next to her couch, however seeing the name on the caller ID Paulina was very temped to let it go to voice mail.
"Yes Papa..." Paulina answer anyway.
'Hey there sweet heart, you remember Mescal Banks he here at my place, why don't I send a ride to bring you over to say hi.' Paulina did her best not to growl at the name, Mescal was a touchy feely kind of guy who she hated but was the son of her dad's friend so he was always trying to get them together.
"Sorry dad, but I'm busy tonight." Paulina reply and somehow felt him frown over the phone.
'Come on Paulina we both know your just sitting there along, this is a good chance for ya... it to soon for you to become a creepy old lady who sit at her home alone.' he laugh causing her blood to boil.
"I'll have you know I was planning on going out to night, so fuck off!" she shouted hanging up! Paulina dad had been taking shots at her like that a lot, it was funny at first but now she was getting annoy.
"Stupid old man, I'll show him." she mutter going into her contacts before coming up to Danny's name and pause.
"Might not hurt to get to know the boss's friends a little better." Paulina reason tapping the number and listen to it ring.
"Wonder if he will even pick up and-" "Hello?" Paulina pause surprise to hear his voice but then quickly answer.
"Hey Danny it Paulina, I know this is last-minute and out of the blue but would you like to hang out tonight? Maybe hit up a movie or something?" Paulina ask without much thought, Danny was surprise she call him for this even though they just mat again.
"Umm sure, I'm not really doing anything this right now, should I just swing by your place to pick you up?" Danny ask.
"Yeah I'll be ready!" Paulina grin, this was just what she needed to break her guy funk, Danny wasn't a bad-looking guy and if he play his cards right then just maybe she won't be returning home tonight. With that thought Paulina got ready for a night on the town.
