"Good morning, Jade. Did you sleep well?" The Dragon Slayer walked into the dining room while rubbing the sleep from her eyes and yawning every ten seconds.
"Yes I did, thank you. It was probably the best night's sleep that I have had in years." She paused for a moment, "What about you? You do not sound very well."
"I just had some minor insomnia, but it was nothing too bad." the scarlet one lied. She had no intention of telling anyone about that strange dream. But maybe Carla would know about this. She had visions like these all the time, so maybe she could interpret it?
"Well as long as it was nothing serious, then I guess it is okay," Jade said with an encouraging smile. "By the way," she added, "even though my magic is fully restored, I can not read the clock. What time is it?"
"About 10:00am."
"Oh my, I am sorry if I made you wait for me. Feel free to wake me up earlier next time, okay?"
"Okay. Speaking of time, the master wants to see you at around 10:30 to ask you some questions."
"Really?" Jade asked in surprise. She hasn't expected to be speaking with Fairy Tail's master. "In that case, let me get ready real quick, then we can head over to the guild." Erza nodded and Jade ran back to her room. She grabbed a brush from her leather satchel and groomed her hair. She then trotted to the bathroom and briefly cleaned herself with soap and water. She wanted to make a good impression, but bad hygiene would not help her attempt. Finally, she checked her bag to make sure everything was packed and returned to the kitchen. At this point, Erza was ready to leave as well. They exited the dorm complex and headed to the guild.
Erza and Jade walked into the guild a second time together. Everyone inside instantly jolted their head away from what they were doing to see who the stranger was. Within three seconds the entire guild was silenced. After a moment of a tense, awkward silence, the guild proceeded to gossip about the brunette. Jade didn't hear too much, but she heard snippets like "Is that her?" and "Is that the dragon girl that dropped by last night?" She frowned and bowed her head at the ground shyly. Not only did she hate gossip, but she hated it more when it was about her, be it negative or positive.
Erza noticed that Jade was uncomfortable and whispered, "My apologies. The guild isn't used to excitement like this, which is kind of ironic considering all of the messes that we've been in."
Erza quickly marched over to the master's office while Jade followed with haste. She knocked the large wooden door lightly, then cautiously opened it. "Master? It's Erza and Jade, the one you wanted to see. May we come in?"
"Yes, Erza, please come in." The two walked in, but Jade was hiding behind Erza. She was really shy in front of new people, and she could tell that everyone in the guild was trying to listen to their conversation. Her Sight Magic sees more than the normal eye can, and she could see everyone standing next to the walls that surrounded the office door. "Erza, if you don't mind, I'd like to speak to Jade alone." Erza bowed her head in respect and left the room, closing the door behind her. Jade's magic saw her pushing away the guild members, allowing her and the master some privacy. She thanked her in her head.
"Master Makarov," Jade started while twiddling her thumbs, "what did you want to talk about?"
"You're the one who was here late last night, yes?" She nodded. "So that means you're the ultra-powerful Dragon Slayer that I've heard about, correct?"
"Well, I would not say 'ultra-powerful', but I am a Dragon Slayer."
"Why did you pick Fairy Tail as opposed to all the other guilds in Fiore? You could've easily gone to somewhere like Blue Pegasus or Mermaid's Heel, yet you chose this guild specifically. Why?"
"First off, this guild often gets high-paying requests, which I desperately need. Second, I am a very big fan of Erza. I have looked up to her ever since I first heard her name. She inspired me to learn the art of swordsmanship as a form of self-defense and to always fight no matter what the odds. Third, and most importantly, I am looking for a family." Makarov's eyebrows pricked up slightly.
"You see, I have been without a family for a long time. I only had my original parents for a short amount of time, and my dragon for a shorter time. One of my dreams is to find a family that can last a lifetime. From what I hear, Fairy Tail has the tightest family bond." The senior master closed his eyes and pondered. This girl was serious about everything she said, especially about looking for a family. He could see the kindness and strong will that resonated from inside of her heart. She wanted this badly, and she very well deserved it.
Makarov smiled and Jade's eyes widened and glimmered with joy. "Welcome to Fairy Tail, youngster."
The blind girl let out a huge grin as she heard the words that she could only dream of hearing. She bowed to her new master and almost yelled, "Thank you very much, sir! I swear on my life that you will not regret including me in your guild!" He nodded in approval and dismissed her.
He yelled out to her as she left, "Talk to Mirajane about your mark!" She gave a thumbs-up, indicating that she had heard him loud and clear.
Jade walked over to the bar and called out to Mira.
She came over in a matter of seconds. "Hello again, Jade! How may I help you?"
"I just joined the guild! Master Makarov told me to come to you for my mark." Mira smiled.
"Congratulations and welcome to the guild. Give me a second to get the guild stamp."
"Of course." Jade replied as Mira went and grabbed the stamp. She walked around the counter and went up to the newcomer.
"Where would you like it?" Jade pointed to the back of her right leg on her calf. Mira nodded and pressed the stamp to her leg.
"How does it look?" Jade asked in excitement.
"Perfect. It's purple with a green outline. It suits you nicely." Jade squealed with joy and thanked Mira at least five hundred times. "You're welcome. Now, feel free to ask me anything if you have any questions and enjoy your first day!"
"Yes ma'am!" she replied and bolted over to Erza. "Look, I am a Fairy Tail wizard now!"
The knight smiled, "That's great to hear, Jade. To celebrate, why don't you have a drink?"
"Actually," Jade said hesitantly, "I was wondering if you would like to go out with me on my first job. You know, help me learn the basics and such."
Erza thought for a moment. "Well I have nothing better to do at the moment, but how about we bring some other people along so that you get to know some of your new guild members."
"Okay, who else do you want to bring?"
"How about Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Happy, Wendy, and Carla? I know you haven't met some of them yet, but I'm sure you'll all get along. And I bet Natsu still has some questions about you and Xanchii."
"That sounds okay with me! Now let's find a job!" Erza and Jade went over the job request board. Since Jade couldn't read, Erza read aloud the requests. "Wait, what was that last one?" Jade asked anxiously as Erza listed some of the jobs.
"Do you mean the wanted poster for Daniel Reupart? That one pays for 500,000 J." Jade's eyes widened immensely.
"Daniel Reupart" she said with intensity and rage, "is the man who killed my parents."
