"My father and I have a very good relationship. We always got along. But I always scold him." –Amy Sedaris
'Lir, how're you doing?' Lir turned around, a bag with groceries in her hand.
'I'm fine, how about you?' Lir asked the elder man. His name was Larry, the owner of the cake shop just down the street.
'Same old, same old. But that's not what I wanted to talk about. I saw your father in James' a minute ago.'
'Again?' Lir sighed. James' was a ramen stand not far from where Lir lived. Her father frequently visited the place after her mother had disappeared eight years ago, not for the ramen but for the sake. James sold some high quality sake, but the only one who drank enough of it to get drunk was her father. But to be honest, he was much better now than before. Instead of looking for alcohol, he now often goes there to chat with James, who's an old friend of his.
'Thanks for telling me, I'll go get him after I put these away.' Lir said, referring to the groceries.
'You're welcome.' Larry said, walking away.
Lir put the groceries in the fridge before leaving the house again. She lived in a small but comfortable house, with what had been a dojo eight years ago attached to it. Her father used to give lessons in sword fighting there, but he had stopped after his wife's disappearance. Now, the only one whom he gave lessons sometimes was Lir.
'Lir, how're you doing?' James asked as she entered the ramen stand.
'Lir! Come here and tell James that I'm not just drinking at home!' Lir's father, Masao, said. He was around 47 years old, had long, black hair tied in a messy high ponytail and had a goatee. He wore a traditional white, male yukata and carried two katanas with him at al times. A rather odd sight, don't you agree?
'I'm fine James. And dad, I though you'd go home right after your walk?'
'I was going to, but James here invited me for a drink!'
'That's true, I did invite him.' James admitted.
'Well okay then, but I want you home before dinner!'
'Of course!'
'Okay then, I'll see you then!' Lir said, walking back to her home. But she never arrived.
Lir had just walked around the corner of a deserted street and looked up to the sky. It looked the same as always to her. That was when someone yelling right next to her scared her from her thoughts. She looked back at the street… Only to see that it had disappeared and that a bustling market had taken its place. She looked around, confused. She was about to ask someone for directions when a flying object/person hit her and smacked her to the ground.
Lir opened her eyes, disoriented.
'… That's right, this is Lucy's apartment.' She mumbled, sitting up on her bed, which was actually just a mattress with a pillow and a blanket on the ground. Lucy had left early that morning because she had a job with Natsu and co., and Lir had remained and fallen asleep again.
'So it was just a dream.' She closed her eyes and recalled her dream, which was exactly how she had ended up in that world together with Fairy tail. She missed her home, but most of all she missed her father. She felt tears prick in her eyes as she though about him, and how he must have reacted to her sudden disappearance.
'It's like mom disappearing all over again, only this time I won't be there to comfort him.' Lir sighed as she let her fall back onto her mattress, before snapping her eyes open and jumping up. It really was like when her mother disappeared, too much like it in fact. Could it be her mother had also been transported to that world? It would explain why she had disappeared without a trace!
'Maybe… Maybe mom's here too! I'm sure if it's her, she'll find a way out of here! She has too!' Yet again, Lir let her fall back on her mattress, content with her conclusion. Not everything was lost. She would be able to meet her parents again, she was sure of it.
This is the second time someone's had to point out I wrote a wrong name. I guess I'll have to re-read every chapter after I've re-read it just to make sure the names are correct. Well, thanks for pointing it out, anyways! Sorry for the short fic., but I really wanted to make a chapter of Lir's father. In any case, thanks for reading and see you next time!
