Hello! I hope everyone who's still following this story is still there, because I've finally gotten myself together and hopefully this story as well. This will be my focus on finishing, because I've kept a certain person waiting way too long. Also, if you are a returning reader, please go back and reread from the beginning. The story has changed.

Disclaimer: I don't own Black Cat, GX, or 5D's.

Note: This AU has a timeline where Zane Truesdale didn't fully change into his win-hungry side.

Chapter 4: The New Professors

As the sun rose upon Duel Academy, a pair of eyes cracked open and hazy amber optics scanned the dark Obelisk dorm room. A yawn escaped the person's lips, and they stretched, propping themselves up.

"Ugh…what time is it?" Jessi Nozomi groaned, picking up her PDA and pressing one of the buttons. The screen lit up, with the clock indicating that it was 8 AM. Jessi set the PDA back down and got out of bed to open the curtains. She pulled them apart, slightly wincing at the brightness of the morning sun. After she got dressed, she then walked over to her door, opening it and going into the hall to check up on her other two roommates. Taryn, her cousin, was still sleeping. However, Airi, her friend, was not in her room. Going into the common room they had, Jessi smiled to see that Airi was out on their balcony.

"Good morning." Airi Caelum jumped and turned around, only to relax upon seeing Jessi. "Good morning to you too, Jessi."

Air Caelum was a friend of Taryn's that Jessi had met when she had transferred over to DA from North Academy in their second year. Eventually the two became friends as well, and it was then that Jessi found out that Airi was some sort of princess of a foreign kingdom. The details were fuzzy to Jessi though, as Airi always downplayed her status and preferred to have people think that she was just normal. If anything, the only thing that pointed to her status was her abnormal political knowledge and polite silver tongue.

"We've got a late schedule today. The new professors are coming in today, so we're only having afternoon classes. Nothing to do until the afternoon." Jessi said, leaning slightly against the balcony's doorframe. Airi didn't answer, her gaze listless. Jessi noticed this and decided to tease her to snap her out of it.

"Hey, don't tell me you're thinking of visiting Zane up at the hospital. I know you're in love with him, but it's still early!" Jessi had to stifle her laughter as Airi quickly whipped around, red.

"O-O-Oh sh-shush, Jessi! I'm not thinking about Zane right now!" Airi blustered. Jessi had hit her right on the nerve button, for the Kaiser of Duel Academy happened to be quite close to the princess – or at least, as close as she could be with such a person. The tight bond had been forged after Airi had befriended Zane through their encounters with Jaden and Syrus; and then she had assisted in snapping Zane back to his senses following his defeat to Aster Phoenix and his drop to Underground Dueling. Jessi had remembered that Airi had even ditched school for a bit to go to Domino and physically stop him. Regardless, it was a good thing she had done so, for Zane had been developing a heart condition with the shock collars that he used – hence why he was at DA's hospital, getting a checkup.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. You didn't deny the last part though, but I won't tease you anymore lest I want to suffer your wrath." Airi huffed and turned around into her original position, obviously miffed.

"It's not Zane I'm worried about." Jessi's smile quickly disappeared as she heard Airi's voice lower and her tone darken. "It's my brother."

"Whoah, your brother? What's wrong with him?" She was fully concerned now. Airi never talked about her brother unless something big was going on.

"Noctis sent me an e-mail last night. It seems there was a break-in at the Chrysbody lab. It's a serious project for our kingdom, and thus he had to tell me. It's alarming, really." Airi sighed.

"So, uh…why are you telling me this exactly? Or to be precise, should you really be making me privy to such info?" Jessi inquired, taken aback. "I don't even know half of what you're saying!" Airi chuckled before turning back to Jessi.

"I had a feeling you'd be surprised. Well, there was more. Noctis is afraid that those Chrysbodies that were taken will be headed here. They run on energy, and dueling energy is no exception." Jessi let out a huge sigh.

"Don't tell me Jaden's going to have to save the world. Again." Airi's lips pursed into amusement as Jessi's face contorted into an expression of mock tiredness.

"Well, I'm hoping he won't have to with this advance warning. In any case, you should know because you're part of Jaden's circle since you're family and I can trust anyone with Jaden – plus you're the first person I've talked to this morning and I needed to let it out."

"I guess…" Jessi chuckled. "Well, how about we go wake up Taryn for breakfast? And then you can go visit your precious Kaiser." Atticus, I think you're rubbing off on me…that's probably not a good thing.

"Jessi!"

"Kidding, kidding!"

"Heya, kiddos, I am your new professor for this period! My name is Snow Villiers, but you can just call me Snow. I'll be teaching card mythology to you guys!" The blonde man named Snow then proceeded to give a thumbs up to his class. The class excitedly erupted into chatter; most of the talk being over how either cool or how stupid the new professor was acting.

"I don't mind the cheery disposition, since we need less Crowlers around, but…" Taryn started, but was quickly finished by Alexis.

"…what is up with his hair?" The two looked warily at the professor, whose hair was weirdly arranged into a slick-back down the middle, yet was ruggedly left alone down the sides.

"Hey, at least it isn't like Missy's hair. Hers bugged me, literally." Aiko snorted. Ken guffawed next to her, which made Bella chastise her for the loud laugh.

"Aw come on guys, his hair's not so bad. It could be spiky, like Chazz's!" Jaden laughed, and the boy named Chazz growled.

"Watch it, Slacker! At least my hair's neatly done in one style!" The group laughed as Chazz began to knuckle-sandwich Jaden's head.

"Are you guys always like this?" Emma asked, turning to look at Jim questioningly. Before she knew it, she had begun hanging out with Jim, Aiko, and their friends more often. Eve, who sat next to her, also turned the same way. She and Train had begun hanging out more often with the group as well. It made sense in a way, but Emma herself hadn't been anticipating herself being welcomed, much less being fully involved with such a group – and a popular one at that. Jim smiled, nodding.

"I haven't been in the group long, so I can't really speak much about it; but they've been this way ever since I made friends with 'em," he replied. Emma's mouth formed an 'oh' and she nodded, turning back to watch the two. Emma was unfamiliar with friendships, and thus she was having a hard time understanding how they got along so well. As she was contemplating this, Train had awoken from his little power nap next to Eve and was now teasing Chazz as well.

"Hey, group, over there in the Slifer section!" the group stopped laughing and teasing as Snow called out to them, a grin on his face.

"I get that you guys are cool friends with each other, but we're starting class now. So can you guys be quiet for the next hour? Please?" His chill personality seemed to sit well with everyone, so they easily fixed themselves into their proper seats.

"Yes, Professor Snow…"

"That lecture was actually really good!" Jesse exclaimed, stretching his arms.

"Yeah, I was surprised. He really kept me engaged in the lecture, and I learned a lot!" Jessi replied, smiling brightly.

"I took a ton of notes." Airi held up what seemed to be about four pages chock-full of notes.

"Sam Hill that's a lot! You got THAT much from one hour?" Hassleberry exclaimed. Airi nodded. "Well I'll be…"

"I just…kind of wrote. If you think about it, everything he said was a fact." she explained sheepishly.

"That's Airi for you. She's pretty studious!" Syrus said. "To be honest, her notes remind me of Zane's…" Airi quickly shot Jessi a glare as Jessi snickered, reminded of her teasing that morning.

"Well, we got one more lecture after this right? And it's yet another new professor?" Train asked, leaning back in his chair.

"Yes. And after that, it's time for dinner." Eve quietly said.

"I wonder who the new professor is…" Ken muttered.

"It's a new professor Ken, nobody knows yet!" Bella exclaimed. Ken huffed, but remained quiet. The door to the lecture podium opened, and everyone in the room quieted down, looking straight at the door. Through it came about 4 men. The class, especially the girls, started talking again. Airi, however, did not respond in the same way. Instead, her eyes went wide and her mouth hung open, as if she was surprised.

"Hey, they're pretty cute. Young-looking too!" Jasmine, one of Alexis's roommates, gasped.

"Right! The blonde professor is so dreamy!" Mindy sighed. The group slightly groaned. The two's tendencies to go off like this was an irritating gag within their circle.

"How…?" Airi murmured, eyes still wide. Her gaze followed them, specifically at the man trailing the group. Of course, all of this came to an end as one of the men started talking.

"Quiet! Thank you. Hello class, my name is Ignis Scientia. I, in addition to Gladiolus Amicitia here, will be your professors for Dueldisk Mechanics." The man in glasses spoke, motioning to a stubbled man at his right briefly. "The other two here, Prompto Argentum and Noctis Caelum, are transfers in addition to teacher's aides for the class. You two can sit in the Slifer area." And with that, the two at the end of the line strode over to the seating areas of the Slifers upon the end of Ignis's sentence. Students began to talk again, but mostly this time it was over the boy named Noctis and his last name. The uncanny shared last name with their classmate Airi was not missed.

"Airi." Jessi swiveled around and looked up at the black-haired girl. "Is that…"

"Yes…yes, it is…" Airi breathed, her eyes on Noctis as he took a seat in the front and Ignis quieted the class to begin the lecture. "But…how?"

So I cut off the excess crossovers and began to edit for fluidity since the story was just everywhere ahaha. Also took from the fillers and introduced characters from there. Hopefully the story's making a bit more sense now...xD Anyways, reviews, favorites, and follows are appreciated!
