As Cinder fell, she let out an ear-piercing yowl. Nobody could hear her, except Crow, who was quietly letting out cries and whimpers.

Cinder turned to him. "Goodbye, Crow," Crow looked at her, making a sorrowful face, and looking back up at the cliff.

Suddenly, Cinder was hit by nostalgia.

"I'm coming, Mom!" I ran over to Mommy, taking my talon in hers. She looked at me, smiling, her amber-red scales glimmering in the sunshine. "Flap your wings, and go out there, make me proud." I bounced off of the cliff we were standing on, and started flapping my wings rapidly. I smiled, which turned into a grin, which turned into a voice. "Mommy! Mommy! I'm flying!" Mom lifted into the air, and flew towards me. "I knew you could do it," She said with pride. "I am so proud of you."

Me and Mom looked up from out cave. The stars glistened in the navy blue night, the moon just a sliver. Mom looked over to me. "You are very special to be my daughter, the sister of the queen." I looked up at mom. "I feel special." She then folded a wing around me. We both looked up at the dark sky again. I soon fell asleep in my mother's wing.

Me and Mom were going for a fly around the kingdom. We swirled around each other, dancing in the sky. Mom then suddenly stopped, squinting her eyes. I flew over to her. "Mom? What are you looking at?" She didn't respond. Her eyes then widened. "Fly down there and keep hidden," She said, looking at me. "Don't come out until I say so." I nodded and flew down, hiding behind a rock. I looked up at the sky. A pale yellow figure was rushing towards Mom. I choked on a gasp. The yellow dragon, a SandWing, scratched Mom's face, Mom plummeting into the SandWing's belly. The SandWing then raised it's tail, and stabbed the barb into her side. Mom choked, and when the SandWing pulled his tail out, she fell to the ground. The SandWing flew away. I rushed over to mom, gasping as black, charred scales surrounded the wound. "Sparrow! Sparrow!" I flew away to get the healer. When I came back with her, mom lay, limp. Sparrow felt her chest, instantly knowing the wound was a SandWing's tail barb. "That SandWing must've been loaded with poison," She whispered, then turned to me. "It's no use. She will be dead in a few hours." I looked up at her, terrified. "No! This can't be! She has to live!" I shook Sparrow. "You would feel better me telling the truth than saying she will be dead in a few weeks." She then flew away. I then rested my head and forelimbs on Mom.

After a few hours, I knew Mom only had a couple minutes left. Suddenly, Mom opened her beautiful amber eyes. "I love you, so much…" She used the last bit of strength she had to take off the necklace she always wore. "Take this to remember me by…" She then wrapped it around my neck, and put her arms down. She gave me her last, shining smile, then closed her eyes.

I have never taken that necklace since.

I flew over to my aunt's cave. "Eagle has stated that, since my Mother died…" My voice trailed off for a moment. My aunt stopped eating her mice for a second. "Go on, or I'll rub these carcasses over my sister's grave," It hit me. I suddenly lunged forward, scratching my aunt's eye. "My goll!" She screamed, covering her eye. "What have you done, you little pest? You are nothing but a disgrace for destroying the beauty of the most beautiful queen!" She uncovered her eye for a moment. (People who are sensitive to gore, skip these few sentences and skip to the next paragraph.) It was bloodshot, bleeding, leaving a long scar over her eye and eyelid. A little piece of the eye where I scratched it left a small mark. Aunt screamed in pain.

I stared in horror at what I just did, and sped away, hearing a faint, "You will pay for this! You will pay!"

Cinder snapped back to reality. Before she could think of anything else, she hit the ground, shattering filling the air.

A/N: Sorry for the kind of violent chapter. Thanks for the good feedback!
