AN: Sorry, not a chapter update. But rather FAQs and long ass summary for what's to come, HUGE SPOILER ALERT! Please be aware of the spoiler tags to avoid the story from being spoiled (to those who doesn't want that happening anytime soon).
Story Summary, Enquiries and Answers for frequently asked question (In Captivity with You):
Q: Why is Akihito female in this universe? I don't see why you need to change the gender.
A: For this question, it might be because I was inspired to make a "James Bond" kind of story where Asami is the badass spy and Akihito the sexy, sassy counterpart for Asami. The plot would have a few incidents where Akihito would need to seduce some people and let's face it, realistically, not everyone is gay. So people who can't be seduced to hell and back by Asami, will be seduced by Akihito to heaven and back. That's the gist of it.
The second reason would be the fact that I am dying to write a Tango scene between Asami and Akihito where Akihito will be the one seducing Asami. It just looks so insanely beautiful if Akihito is in a dress (in my opinion) because I'm not quite fond of cross-dressing Akihito. It might be fun, but I just want it to be natural for a change.
The third and the most important reason would be Akihito herself in this universe. I want to see Akihito grow as a person and woman in general in this story. You might not realize it, but I've hinted how Akihito despises herself for being born as "female". She despises girly clothes and deep inside, she has doubts about herself (basically she is uncomfortable with her own body). She hates how woman are "expected" to be harmless, weak and try to break out from the stereo-typical thinking the society has projected for woman in general. I want to build a world where Akihito grows into her body and begins to love herself despite everything that she has to endure in the course of the main story. And Asami was just there to push her forwards and feed her confidence every now and then.
Q: Would you make another version of ICWY where Akihito is a male?
A: If there is a high demand, I might do so. But I'm not very keen to the idea as I've stated my reason as to why the genderbent even happened in the first place. I might have to re-write or re-construct a few things to suit the male version, but the main point of the story (where Akihito fights the discrimination against woman) would be lost? So yeah…. I might do it, but it'll probably lost the significant goal and it might take a long while (as I would definitely write the male version after ICWY is completed).
Q: When will you update this? / Is this story abandoned? / Will this be ever completed?
A: I will never abandon my stories, but I do have inconsistent update times as I have different loads (and different things to write and focus on). You can say I've been inactive in Finder fandom due to various RL circumstances (seeing as how I'm writing for a game project I'm in right now). And when I do have time, I most definitely spend my time to catch up with fanfics that I love by various author here (I'm only human!). But to answer your question, yes I am hoping to complete this one day. Wish me luck!
Q: Where is the story heading? And what is Asami's role in the story?
A: Well…. This is a tricky question. I don't want to spoil anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled, but I think I should give a summary of what's to come (especially since I don't know when I'll be updating chapter by chapter). This is to quench your curiosity and I sure bet you'll like to know what's ahead (seeing as I suck in giving summary with a word limit).
[HUGE SPOILER ALERT! DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED! This is basically the whole story jammed into a summary! Skip this until you found END SPOILER ALERT]
Chapter 3 would start with Takumi as the main narrator (it's his POV all the way). The chapter starts off by a flashback 2 months ago in Asami's office. Takumi was panicking since his plan to form an allegiance with Asami was met with a cold shoulder. Takumi had guessed that Asami would be onboard with his plan (a plan to cause a virus outbreak in Japan with them being the main source for vaccination. Basically a controlled outbreak where they would be the "God" to control and manipulate Japan). Takumi needed Asami at his side since he was the "Kingpin" of Japan and he controls almost all transactions from ports to air carriers (seeing how the virus is air-borne). But he didn't expect Asami to be opposed of his plan.
He was devising a plan to eliminate Asami when he received a call from Asami's secretary, Kirishima. It seems that this Kirishima-guy understands his vision and was willing to help him eliminate the boss. In Takumi's view, it seems that the guy was dying to be the head of Sion's Group and he was happy to lend a helping hand. They devised to eliminate Asami in two months to avoid suspicion of coercion. When the day comes, Takumi received a go-ahead signal from Kirishima that Asami will be meeting with a local mob boss and he would be harmless.
At the port, Asami's men was surrounded by Takumi's man. A smug look crossed Takumi's face when he saw the look of surprise from Asami. He felt all the more better when Kirishima stepped into the light (all clichéd badass) and exposed his betrayal to Asami. Everything was sailing smooth in Takumi's book when it happened. Asami took a shot and hit straight at Kirishima. The guy was dead before he hit the ground, blood pooling around his body. Takumi was in a panic when he realized that Asami has turned the tables and he had in fact anticipated Kirishima's betrayal. There was a shoot-out between Takumi's and Asami's men. Takumi managed to shoot Asami in the shoulder during the shoot-out. One of Takumi's men managed to get a hold of their van and in a last ditch to escape, Takumi took Asami by surprise and shot him at the thigh to immobilize him. Using Asami as a hostage, Takumi's men managed to escape the port without Asami's men on their trail. Takumi thought it was just bad luck, but unbeknownst to him, it was all Asami's plan from the very beginning to make sure Takumi revealed his hideout. And that is how Akihito first met Asami (all tied up and bloodied from chapter 2).
The chapter jumps changes narrator to Kirishima's point of view. The said secretary was lying in the ditch in a pool of red paint and it had hurt like a bitch to be shot at by blank bullets. Kirishima begins to recall the conversation he had with Asami two months ago:
Asami: If my men betray me, how do you think I should punish them?
Kirishima: *serious* A death penalty would be too kind for them, Asami-sama.
Asami: Are you saying death alone wouldn't suffice?
Kirishima: It simply won't do, Asami-sama. But your men are loyal, and I don't think there is anyone who would willingly betray you.
Asami: A pity… I would love for you to betray me, Kirishima.
Kirishima: *confused* Asami-sama?
Asami: *mischievous grin* Have you ever thought how you would die, Kirishima?
Kirishima: *speechless*
Asami: *evil grin* I always thought red would suit you pretty well.
Kirishima: *protest* But I would never betray…
Asami: *evil glint in his eyes* Oh, please I insist. Betray me, Kirishima. Show me what you can do.
And that is the beginning of Kirishima's waking terror for the past two months, acting as a greedy for power maniac. He could have won an Oscar award for his performance. But Asami-sama had outdone and outshine him yet again. Sighing, Kirishima stood up with Suoh's help. Getting into position for the next plan: to save their wayward boss and Japan all together.
Chapter 4 until ending are as follows (in bullet points):
- Aki took care of Asami's wounds every day to avoid infections. Asami initially thought Aki was Takumi's follower/subordinate. He observes Aki and her habits to keep in track of the time.
- Asami found out that both Aki and Hitomi were held hostage by Takumi. He learns that they were the "backbone" for the operation (without them, the research would ceased and Takumi's plan would crumble).
- Asami roped Aki into joining forces with him. He told Aki of Takumi's biological warfare (of releasing the virus nationwide and possibly worldwide while controlling the amount of vaccine supplied to the mass). Together, Aki and Asami devised an escape plan.
- Meanwhile, (on Kirishima's side) using his "dead man" status, Kirishima helps Asami in the shadows (by infiltrating the facility's security) while Suoh hold the front port for Asami's empire (as enemies and rival mob bosses tried to stake claim on Asami's business dealings ever since the head boss' rumored death circulates) and acting desperate for Takumi to show that he was willing to do any deals with Takumi as long as Takumi release Asami.
- Aki shared their plan with Hitomi and together the trio decided to steal the vaccine recipe and create a few samples that could be sent out in case the virus breakout. Asami had assigned for Krishima to organize a team outside (on standby) that would dedicate themselves producing the vaccine for the mass (free of charge).
- Kirishima was assigned to guard and keep in check of Hitomi, while Asami's doing the same for Aki's side. During this period, friendship and love blossoms between them. Kirishima fell in love with Hitomi, but he knew of her married status therefore kept his feelings a secret.
- The day of their breakout from the research facility came, Aki and Asami were on standby waiting for Hitomi's greenlight. Hitomi was assigned to steal the vaccine vial from the research safe room. Hitomi was found out by Takumi's right hand man, while struggling over the only vaccine vial left as sample (as the rest were taken by Takumi), a rack containing the virus vial smashed to the ground.
- Hitomi knowing that there was no way for her to contain the virus except sealing off the room with the emergency button, she sealed off the room and successfully trapping the virus inside the room (along with her and Takumi's right hand man). In the haste, Hitomi manages to throw the case containing the vaccine vial into a small compartment that would be sealed off (air sucked out of the compartment) which can be accessed from the other side.
- Hearing the emergency alarm blares off, Aki and Asami rushed to Hitomi's side. Through the glass door, they could see that Hitomi had successfully knocked Takumi's right hand man unconscious and she instructed Aki to take the vial from the compartment.
- Aki took the vial and urged Hitomi to come with them (Aki not realizing at this moment that the room had been sealed from within because the virus had contaminated the air inside). But Hitomi can only shake her head and mentioned this is the farthest that she can go. Aki was hysterical when she realized Hitomi had sacrificed herself by sealing off the room to prevent the virus from spreading. Aki was reluctant to leave Hitomi to die.
- Hitomi urges Asami to take Aki away and to get the hell away from the facility. With a heavy heart, Asami drags the hysterical Aki from the scene.
- Between the moments of her death, Hitomi spends it by video calling her twin sons. Telling them she missed them and that unfortunately she would be breaking her promise (she wouldn't be able to celebrate their birthday together).
- Scene changes to Aki and Asami in prologue where they ran from their captors. Aki urges Asami to take the vial when she was shot, Asami promising that he would come back for her.
- Aki was captured and tortured in process to reveal Asami's whereabouts. She never said a word, fearing for Asami's safety and also for humankind. She was later kept underground, sealing off any possible escape route.
- Meanwhile, Takumi was suppressed in every turn from various sides. Asami had gained trust from the government when Asami revealed Takumi's plan. Showcasing Takumi's shady dealings and research institute. Takumi in a last ditch to save himself, bombs the research facility to tie up loose ends and to eviscerate incriminating evidence.
- People died and many bodies were found from the research facility ruins.
- The last scene in ICWY, with Takumi's base burned to the ground, it was believed that Aki died from the bombing incident (as she was last believed to be trapped underground).
- Asami breakdowns in rage and heartbreak. He never saw Aki again.
- Asami met with Aki's mom to relay the news to her personally. To tell the story of two brave young women who selflessly sacrificed themselves to save the nation (literally humankind). Aki's mom cried out in grief when she finally linked the incidents that shook the world to her only child.
- "I always knew that she would be a great woman someday. I never thought it was to this extent."
THE END… OR IT IS?!
Well actually, there's an installment called "In Captivated By You" where it's revealed that Aki was indeed alive and she was extracted by Interpol before all that bombing shits happened. And why Interpol was involved you asked? Welp, there's a whole lot of plot for that one.
But basically very brief summary, in this universe, Asami didn't start off as a yakuza (or any underground shits). Asami was once an Interpol covert opt that went rogue (according to Interpol) after a mission went wrong. His power (current dominance in arms dealing trade) is built from his past connections while active in Interpol. Met Kirishima (former assassin – skilled in snipping) and Suoh (former military – heavy combat) and formed the current empire.
Interpol planned to use Aki to bait Asami. And many shits goes down from there.
[FINALLY END OF SPOILER ALERT!]
Well there you go. The key plots and highlights for this story (and universe). There's like a whole load of crap to write and I seriously wonder when will I be able to write all of this? That's what you get when your plot bunnies never stop giving and churning up ideas. I seriously do not have the time to write any of this right now. BUT I really hope to write this someday. It would be like a dream come true to write this vague ideas into a long trilogy!
Hope this helps sates your curiosity a bit! And truly, thank you for all the support and love. You guys are amazing!
