A/N: Captain America the Winter Soldier is fantastic and if you haven't seen it you need to.

November 1942

He sprinted from his room to the balcony that was in the hallway between his room and the stairs that led down into the church. He could see the tanks rolling into through the village and they were heading straight for him. He lived alone inside the church in Norway and he was quite a meek old man, he turned and moved down the stairs. The information he had received had been true they had heard about the cube and they were coming for it, he needed to keep it safe and out of their hands. He rounded the corner at the bottom of the stairs and entered the church itself. The front doors burst and exploded as a tank battered its way into the building, soon the church filled with men wearing black uniforms and helmets and a red insignia of a skull with the legs of an octopus. He was quickly surrounded and told to stand still, he kept his breathing steady confident that he could keep the artifact a secret from these men. He looked at the tank and saw a man approach the hole in the wall, he was wearing a similar black leather uniform like the other soldiers but he was wearing a commander's hat instead of a helmet which showed that this man was definitely in charge. The man was tall standing six and a half feet tall, the man was clearly in great shape. He was a calculating man, searching the room top to bottom looking for anything important. The man took off his hat and approached him "Good Evening" he said with a German accent. He stayed silent "My name is Johann Schmitt" he said calmly.

"I know who are….Skull" he said boldly hoping that he could anger him and prompt Schmitt to kill him.

Schmitt started to laugh "Your network of communication is more advanced than I realized." He started circling the priest "So you claim to know me priest? Please remind me."

The priest had been warned several weeks ago about this man and his group "You are in charge of the research arm of the Third Reich. You have been destroying your way across Europe searching for something" he explained trying to find some kind of way out of the situation.

A smaller man wearing a suit and carrying a bag, entered the church behind Schmitt and started looking around as well, he was also wearing a pair of glasses and had a thinning head of hair "The walls are the most likely hiding place" the small man said directing the soldiers.

"Don't bother it has already been moved" called Schmitt without even looking at the punitive man. "Dr. Zola do you recall what the first priest told us in Berlin".

"He said we would never find it" replied Zola.

"Ahhh yes. I wonder priest when was the last time an Asgardian actually visited Earth. I would assume quite a while given if they had returned they certainly would have taken the artifact back with them" questioned Schmitt showcasing his clear knowledge of the artifact.

The priest was fuming "The Tesseract is not meant for human hands."

Schmitt turned his head "If that were true than where are the gods to strike me down? I am destroyed every single piece of their followers on this continent and still they do not come to stop me. Do you know why?" The priest stood deathly still with a look of anger on his face. "It's because they don't care about you or the people of his planet for that matter. I am on the cusp of bringing a new era to this world and I need the Tesseract to do it." Schmitt grabbed the sides of the priest's face. "Now where did you send it?" he asked with a scary look on his face. The priest stood stone faced and refused to give anything to him. "I have seen this act before" he said letting go of his face and walking towards a window that looked over the village "You don't care about your life but certainly you care about those down in the village, the innocent, and the weak."

"You can't" he called out falling to his knees.

"I can and I will unless I get what I want from you" Schmitt said without even turning to look at the priest. There was a silence that felt like hours "Tell the men below to start with the women and the children first" ordered Schmitt.

"STOP, STOP, STOP" called out the priest with tears streaming down his face. Schmitt was staring bullets into the man as he waited for an answer. "Sicily I sent it to Sicily" he said looking at the ground as soon as the words left his mouth.

Schmitt smiled and lifted the priest to his feet and dragged him to the window "It was quite commendable of you to try and save them." He turned to his men "Make sure he lives long enough to watch them all burn" he began marching out of the room with Zola ignoring the pleas of the man "How long before we can be in Sicily?" asked Schmitt moving quickly as his men began attacking the village.

"It could be several months the invasion in North Africa has made getting around more difficult and Hitler wishes to us from extending our reach too far" explained Zola struggling to keep up.

"Our work is far too important to be slowed by a war that will prove to be insignificant when the work is finished" complained Schmitt getting into the driver's seat of a car with Zola quickly getting into the passenger seat.

"That may be true but without his support moving around would be impossible and that would certainly prevent any possible discovery" explained Zola. "Our new orders are to support the forces in the Soviet Union."

"The Third Reich has stretched itself too far now, the first chance we get, we must get to Sicily before the allies claim it and we are left without any chance of gaining the Tesseract and securing the new world" said Schmitt driving into the distance.

Armin Zola had been working non-stop with Schmitt since he was chosen to replace Erksine who had fled to the Americans after his work with Schmitt failed. Schmitt had given him some of the work that Erksine had left behind in order for Zola to perform his own experiments but the Tesseract was Schmitt's obsession, he believed he could usher in a new world with that technology, a world controlled and created by Hydra.
