Chapter Four

Reina's POV (One Week Later)
"Reina! Terry's here!" I heard my mother yell out while I was putting on my boots, then I grabbed my bag of my books and what not. I felt normal so far...I was so excited to get out of that Hospital. Anyways, I said bye to mother and rushed outside to meet Terry.
"Hi, Terry! What brings you to my house today?" He had his hands in his pockets, shrugging while he walked beside me.
"Is it a crime to walk to school with a friend? Anyway, I just wanted to make sure you're alright." I smiled, Terry is a sweet guy. I hope he finds a girl that will love him, for some reason that thought made me sad. But I pushed that feeling aside and continued to walk to school with him.

It was the last class of the day when something odd happened, it freaked me out. When I was in my gymnastic class with five other girls, I was doing back flips and front flips. I did some somersaults after warming up and started running to jump over the high jump pole, when my body went higher then I thought it would. I got scared when I was about to land painfully on my face, so I tightly closed my eyes and flipped my body. I open them to see I had landed in a crouching position, my knees bent and toes touching the mat. My heels were up and the palms of my hands pressed to the floor like some...animal.
I fell to my butt, shell shocked at what I just did, then quickly looked around to see if the girls saw that. I sighed in relief when I realized they didn't, they were to busy practicing their moves. I went back on my bare feet and told the girls I had to leave early, since in that class you could leave any time your were done practicing. Gymnastics was mostly for people that had high grades, or lots of credit. In my case, I just had high grade's. B's mostly, I got C's now and then. But that was mostly when the ex-boyfriend problems first started.
I got my normal clothes on, waving bye to the girls, and walked home. When I got there I found out that mom had gone to the store to go shopping, annd she'll pick Kisa up later. So I'm home alone for a while. I sat down on the couch and turned the TV on, watching the boring news channel until it caused me to fall asleep.

(Next Day)
Today there's no school, thankfully...I don't want to go and have something weird happens to me again. Especially if people will look and think of me as some kind of a freak. I was at home trying to finish my Homework, after I completed it I left a note for mom; telling her I was going to the Mall to look around.
When I got there I walked all around, going to a variety of stores and buying a couple of things. I even got a cute stuffed bear for Kisa. Once I got all that I needed, I left the Mall; headed straight for home. While I was walking, I heard someone scream for help down an alleyway. I look in the direction of the yell, seeing one of those Jorkers trying to touch a lady. It annoyed me to no end! I clench my teeth, dropping my mall bags as my eyes narrowed. Not knowing they turn into slits, like a tiger. I charged at the unaspecting Jokers, "HEY!" When I yelled that out I jumped into the air, then just when he was about to turn his head I spun my body around and kicked him hard upside the head. Sending him into the brick wall of the alley.
I landed gracefully on the ground, dusting off my hands. "Dreg! Are you okay ma'am?" I questioned as I walked over, helping her to her feet. When I kicked that dreg she had fallen down,
"Y-Yes, thank you. I didn't think anyone would come to my rescue, even if I screamed..." I frowned, seeing her shiver in fear. I helped her home, not before grabbing my bags first, as I wanted to make sure she got to her house safely. Then, I continued to walk home myself.
"I'm home!" I called out when I close the front door behind me, taking my shoes off, then put my jacket on the hanging rack next to the door.
"Welcome home dear!" I hugged my mom and kissed her cheek when she walked out from the kitchen, beautiful as always. She had black hair that was much longer than my own, she always kept it tied in a low ponytail; so she could drape it over one shoulder. She has welcoming gray eyes, that matched her kind personality. She's the sweetest person ever and I love to death, her same with my baby sister Kisa.
"You're just in time sweetie, Terry, his younger brother Matt, and his mother Mary are here for dinner with us tonight." I smiled,
"Okay, I'll go see them right now."
"They're in the living room dear, I'll go finish dinner." I nodded and walk to the living room, hugging Mary when I saw her. Then I went over to Matt, ruffling his hair. Making him give me a frown.
"Hey!" He exclaimed, causing me to giggle. I then walked over to Terry, smiling.
"Hi, Terry."
"Hey," He greeted back, "How have you been?" I shrugged.
"Good, what about you?"
"You know, same old same old. Working for Mister Wayne is tiring, but I do it to get money for mom." I smiled, he really cares for his family, like I care about my own
After all that talking mom and Mary finished dinner, so we sat at the table; eating and talking. It seemed Terry's little brother Max had this crush on me, it was adorable. Even more so since he was embarrassed when Mary told me. It made me feel a little touched, but he's too young for me. However I'm kind of flattered he has a crush on me.
After everyone was finished with their food, we sat around and small talked; until it came time for the McGinnis' to leave. After saying bye to Terry, Max, and Mary I felt weird. Seeing Terry walk away made want to stop him, and ask him to stay with me for a while. I was surprise by myself, I never thought anything like that before. Not about him, but then I realize slowly started to realize...I have a crush on my friend Terry.
I mentally groaned, 'I told myself I wouldn't fall for anyone, not after what Eric did to me...but Terry is a good, sweet caring guy. But he problably only sees me as his friend.' I told mom I'd be in my room, going to sleep early. I sat down on my bed and crossed my legs, turning on the TV in my room to the news. They were talking about how the 'Jokers' keep causing trouble, not even Batman could keep up with all them. It seemed like Batman needed someone to aid him in taming all these trouble makers, a sidekick...I blinked. Realizing what I just thought, maybe I could help since the animal DNA experiment appeared to do something to me. I can help.
I stood up and went through my closet, looking for my old Halloween stuff for, finding a long white wig. I took that out then found a leather suit, I smirked. I could cut it then I started making my outfit. When I finished putting the now cut outfit and wig on I was looking at myself through my full body mirror, making sure if I needed to add anything else. My skin was too pale, then suddenly this idea came to me. Since I was acting like some cat type animal, I should look the part as well. I took an eye liner pencil from my makeup box and painted strips all over my arms, legs, stomach, shoulders chest, and one on each of my cheeks. I was about to hop out of my window when I realized people would know it was me by my face. So I searched through my closet again, grabbing the mask that went with my Halloween costume; it only covered my eyes.
"I don't know if I should be doing this...but if I can help Batman I'll do what I can." I crawled out of my window and silently jumped down. Landing on my feet, surprisingly it didn't shock my legs like like the last time, maybe having that DNA injection made me more animal than I thought.
I stood back up, straight, stretching and craning my neck before heading out into the night. To start my mission of cleaning up Gotham.
