The compact Audi swerved as it avoided the rocket that sped towards them. The force of the blast caused the car to fishtail and narrowly avoid the second volley of rockets. The second explosion caused the car to spin out of control and suddenly stopped in the now empty freeway.

"There's someone by the sign," Vergil commented coolly as he looked ahead towards the welcome sign of Fortuna. Rei growled angrily as she gripped the steering wheel of her car.

Angrily she unbuckled her seat belt and exited the car. Vergil watched as she walked to the front of the car, in the distance, Vergil saw the spark of a rocket being shot towards them. Vergil gripped the car door handle as he saw the rocket get closer, what Vergil didn't expect was blinding bright engulfing himself and the area around the car.

The deep bass of the explosion echoed around him.

"Are you fucking trying to ruin my car?!" Rei shouted as if the unknown person could hear her. Vergil watched as Rei reached behind her pulling her phone from her back pocket.

Welcome to Fortuna! I didn't expect to see you here…with him…I am very much surprised little one

"Oh? It seems as if I am at a disadvantage…you are?" Rei asked her tone completely different from before.

No need for names I am sure that we will meet in person quite soon…in hell

Once again the bright light that engulfed him earlier, engulf him and the area again. Vergil slowly opened the car door and stepped out as the smoke cleared and stood next to Rei.

"Totally not what I was expecting," Rei clicked her tongue.

"Problems?" Vergil asked.

"Huge," Rei replied and frowned.

Vergil turned his attention from seething woman and to the person unnaturally perched on top of the "Welcome to Fortuna" sign. Whoever this person was, they were not human and clearly, they wanted them both dead. A sharp piercing pain shot through the back of his head, the pain caused the man to clutch the side of his head in an attempt to endure the pain.

"Whoever this person is…they either want us dead…or not to enter the city," Rei began as she kept her focus on the unknown individual by the sign. "I am appalled by the audacity this person has…to think they can stop me from doing what I want..."

"What are you going to do?" Vergil asked as he regained his composure.

"Waltz right into Fortuna. What else? "Rei replied as she jutted her chin up in defiance of the person that attempted to stop them. She turned heel and walked back to the driver's side and Vergil back to the passenger side. Within seconds the car revved back to life

"My promise to you was to help you regain your memories…and that's what I'm going to do," Rei said as she buckled her seat belt.

"Even willing to risk your life to do so," Vergil commented.

"There's no way either of us are dying, we have things to do, people to see," Rei replied. "Ready?" Vergil nodded silently.

"Ok," Rei said as she revved the engine again. With a smirk, she slammed her foot on to the gas pedal.

Another spark and a rocket sped towards them. Rei deftly shifted gears as she sped forward, she easily avoided the rockets that sped toward them. In his peripheral vision, he saw the individual had vaulted off into the trees and retreated, surely the unknown had set up a trap for them.

"A bomb," Vergil commented.

"I know and I'm working on it," Rei said as she continued to drive.

It was faint, but Vergil could feel the air around him and the car change and soon the trees that buzzed passed them as they sped down the freeway seemed to slow down. Time had seemingly stopped around them, just as the bomb began to break apart slowly unleashing the deadly explosion encased inside of it. As the car sped pass the exploding bomb time began to flow again.

SKREEEECH!

The force from the blast caused the car to fishtail before it sped off into the city unscathed from the trap their unknown enemy Fortuna.

Minutes later the white Audi stopped in front of a small shop, an unexpected face greeted them outside the shop, it was the blond-haired demon, Adonis. He stood eyes closed, arms crossed and blatantly ignored the stares of women and men that passed by him.

"I'm so hungry," Rei whined as she got out of the car and leaned onto the roof. At that moment, Adonis stirred as if he had been asleep as he waited for them.

"Getting into trouble so soon?" Adonis asked and focused on the woman.

"It's not like I actively aggravated them, besides they attacked first," Rei replied as she watched Vergil exit from the car and close the door.

"They attacked first? That's new," Adonis replied bored.

"You could sound a bit more concerned Adonis…if anything happens to me…" Rei began and noticed that had caught the white-haired devil's attention.

"I understand, I wasn't that far away," Adonis replied.

Vergil focused his attention to his new surroundings, the city seemed quaint but that modern features and technology melded with the old. The buildings and homes seemed drab, heavy wooden doors, brick roads, few cars, it was completely different than the metropolis that Rei resided in. He turned his attention towards the large Cathedral in the distance, he was faintly aware that Adonis and Rei began to speak about him.

"It could be someone…or something that has been sent to retrieve Vergil…or for something else," Rei began. "But who knows at this point. Vergil doesn't remember much but—"

"This place feels familiar to me," Vergil began.

"Really?" Rei perked up from the roof of her car. "Have you been here before?"

"So he doesn't have the mind of an old man," Adonis commented.

"I've been called here before," Vergil glared at Adonis.

"Yamato is here...so maybe your power has been called here before? Nero does have your sword, a devil arm and has used it so...," Rei trailed off.

"Nero…" Vergil trailed off. His brows furrowed at the mention of the name but he had no recollection of who this person was.

"Hn. The Doctor is waiting for you," Adonis said as he started for the black wooden door.

"The Doctor?" Vergil questioned as he watched Rei stretch.

"Do you remember the man you saw earlier…when you woke up?" Rei began as she ducked back into her car for her jacket that she had taken off. As she began to put on the jacket she caught a glimpse of the blank stare on the man's face.

"Oh...sorry...Rodain is an informant for...us...the Doctor is an informant on medical and human and demon worldly things," Rei replied as she flipped her ponytail. Vergil nodded in agreement and followed behind the two as they entered the shop.

"Well, Well, Well...if it isn't little Adonriel and his little Master Rei," Vergil heard a deep male voice descending the stairs in front of him.

"Nice to see you too Doc," Rei scoffed, Adonis scoffed in response.

"It's good to see you made it here in one piece…I could feel your energy on the all the way from here,
the Doctor commented as he looked the woman from head to toe.

A petite, dark-skinned young man stood in front of the three, he brushed his long white hair over his shoulder bringing more attention to his pale green eyes.

"You must be Vergil Sparda...you look like you've aged well especially being in the Inferno," The Doc said as he began to study Vergil. Vergil glared at the petite man in annoyance, the Doctor smirked as he noticed the annoyance on the white-haired devil's face.

"Don't worry, I'm just making sure that you are who you are and not a copy," The Doc replied.

"A copy?" Vergil questioned.

"Your power...and energy has been used for less than savory means boy. Although I can say I expected you to be more of an icebox," the Doc commented.

"You could be nicer Doc. I mean he is Sparda's Son," Rei commented as she looked at her nails.

"It matters not to me, Sparda is long gone, and this one doesn't even have its head on right," The Doctor replied as he approached Rei.

"You're able to tell just from this simple interaction…I'm impressed," Rei commented as she crossed her arms.

"I am who I am for reason, I do not need your false amazement," The man shot back. Rei waved off the man's attempt to chide her, but she could feel his pale green eyes on her.

"You look beautiful as usual Rei," the Doctor said as he looked her from head to toe.

"Thanks, but you can calm your incubus libido now," Rei dismissed him. Vergil caught a glimpse of the petite man's twisted from before he turned his attention back on to him. Vergil frowned as their eyes met.

"From a quick look at him…there's a barrier… around his memories and what happened to him. I'm not sure what it correlates to but it is also affecting the other side of him," The Doctor began as he walked away from the group. Rei followed after the Doctor as did Adonis and Vergil.

"And what is this barrier? What is it?" Rei questioned

"What it is…could be a million different things. I can't really confirm anything until I do a full examination of him," The Doctor continued as he sat at a white marble desk.

"No," Vergil replied before Rei could utter a word.

"You don't have a choice in this matter. Your master is the one that decided it for you," The Doctor shot back.

"She does not decide anything for me," Vergil stated firmly.

"My my, my…you truly don't remember. A shame really, you are bound to her will and are required to do as she says," the Doctor began. "Tis the law of the contract that you were bound to…"

"What does this examination include?" Rei questioned.

"I—"Vergil began when Rei turned to him, her sharp grey eyes pierced through him as she silently and seemingly looked through him. He remained silent as he pursed his lips together. There was something inside of him that forced him to immediately cease, an unknown sensation that willed him to stop.

"Hah! See what I mean Son of Sparda? You are bound to her will I'm no fool," The Doctor sneered. "I understand the process she used to get you from the Inferno. I also understand how your power has been used to torment people due to a power grab in Hell and the Inferno. You should be thank you that your brother and your child—"

"Child?!" Rei exclaimed.

"Child?!" Vergil repeated uncharacteristically surprised.

The Doctor grinned from ear to ear at their reactions. Rei looked to Vergil confused and he at her in the same manner.

"You have been busy Vergil," the Doctor smirked. Vergil growled at the incubus but kept his anger controlled.

"What are you implying?" Vergil growled.

"I dunno you tell me," The Doctor replied brazenly. "Aww is the little devil getting mad? You're all bark and no bite," The Doctor chuckled as he leaned back in the plush leather chair.

"That sounds like information you've conveniently omitted, why?" Rei sneered.

"Oh? I guess I did forget to mention that one piece…" The Doctor trailed off.

"Who is it?" Rei questioned. The Doctor smiled, it was a simple but telling gesture that sent a shiver down Rei's spine. The look in the incubus' eyes was telling enough that she would find out who Vergil's child was.

"Of course I can tell you for an additional price," The Doctor began.

"What is it?" Vergil spoke up before Rei or Adonis could say a word.

"Your delectable little master has a delicious aura around her. I want it," The Doctor began.

"Absolutely not," Adonis growled. The blond-haired demon had been silent since they had arrived at the shop. "You will not lay a hand on her,"

"Ah yes…your bewitching contract and of course, the brooding demon speaks up for his master's safety…for once," The Doctor sighed as he waved off the demon's underlying threat to act if he attempted anything against the woman.

"Since I cannot examine him, you're going to have to do it the hard way, look for items, people, things that he has seen in his life and see what happens,"

"Alright then, we need to go to the source, Nero—"Rei began.

"Ah…yes Nero…he's actually no longer here. He left earlier today," The Doctor replied as he looked at his cellphone uninterested in the three that stood in front of him.

"You knew we were coming and you didn't even bother to tell me that Nero was leaving…" Rei began as she crossed her arms. "What good are you?"

Vergil pursed his lips together as a million thoughts raced through his mind. How much of his memory had been damaged that he had forgotten the fact that he had a child.

"I don't appreciate the lack of important information, especially when I asked and paid for it," Rei began. "I should have just gone to Rodain if I knew you were going to conveniently omit important information,"

"And the old man would have referred you to me, so you're stuck with me. Besides, information like that comes with a premium cost, you know this," The Doctor replied.

"I already paid you for it," Rei said firmly.

"And the information price rose. Pay up or you can forget about it," The Doctor replied.

"I can't believe you," Rei sighed heavily.

"Bring me something good and I'll have that information for you," The Doctor said as he focused his attention on Vergil
