The Kidnap - Chapter 3
General POV:
Scott took a deep breathe and looked to the ground. "I know that what I'm going to say is going to sound... Weird... Or unbelievable... But I need you to bear with me. Okay?" Maka nodded slowly. She was curious as to why he was here, but at the same time, she was confused. She could have sworn that she knew this man from... somewhere... Anywhere.
"Okay... Well... Makayla and I aren't from around here... More specifically... We aren't from this time period..." He started. Maka's eyes widened. "But, time travel isn't possable-" Soul put his fingure on her lips. "Hush. It is where we are. I'm fairly certain that you know the person who created it as well... After all... It was you." Maka's eyes became even wider. "W-Wait... I created time travel!?" Scott simply nodded at Maka's question.
"After Stien passed away, he left you all of his research on time travel. By the age of 34, you had finally reached compleation with your research. It was time for the construction of the portal that you were going to use for time travel. You see, Stein lacked something that you didn't." Scott paused, seeming as if he was lost in his own world, thinking of good times he wish he could relive.
"What exactly is that..?" Maka asked curiously. Scott chuckled. "Actually, now thinking back on it, he lacked a lot of things when compaired to you." Maka raised a eyebrow. "Like..?" Scott simply chuckled again. "Well... He wasn't stuborn like you are. That was a bad thing... Afterall, he gave up half way through and abandoned the project. However, you were too stuborn and thickheaded to give in. You kept pushing and pushing the impossable until it became possable." He smiled lightly to himself, while Maka frowned a bit, taking it as an insult.
Scott saw the agrivation on Maka's face and smiled lightly. "But he was also lacking your imagination. He didn't have that sparkle in his eyes that you had whenever you came up with an idea. In fact... It was your creativity that made time travel possable. You studied the effects of the magnetic forcefield that you had went in for a mission against Misquito for BREW. Because of this, you found the missing key elements that Stien could never find."
Maka looked at Scott slowly. She couldn't believe that she did all this. "So... What were the elements..?" Scott chuckled. "I'll leave that to you to find out when you're 35. I can't give you any spoilers, unfortunatly. Unless they save your life, if they're not related to saving your life, I will disapear. Which doesn't matter, seeing as though I'm only here to save your life." He stated, turning rather serious.
Maka looked confused. "Do those men have something to do with it..?" Scott nodded. "Yes. They're from my time line. They used the time travel to come back here and try to stop me from saving you." Maka looked confused. "But... I live until I'm 35... Right? How could you be saving me now..?" Soul sighed. "That's the thing. There was still a few faults in your desighn when you were murdered. You didn't have the chance to fix them. The time machine is dependable, and safe. The entire issue is that it never lands on the exact time zone that you tell it to. It flops around, give or take 20 years from the actual date that you picked. Sometimes it doesn't though. So I took the risk of entering the actual date you were murdered on. Then those goons followed me here." He explained.
Maka looked shocked. "Why was I murdered..? Did people not like me..?" Scott shook his head. "No, Maka. Most people loved you. There were a few, however that despised you. Those two goons where just an example of the people who don't like you." Maka stayed silent, awaiting an explaination.
"Okay... I know that look... And it means that you want me to explain... So here it goes..." He took a deep breathe. "While you were testing the prototype of the final machine... There were some people who where observing. Other scientists that wanted to see it in action. They didn't listen to your warnings, and one person got too close to the machine... You didn't notice..." He took a deep breathe. "The persons name was Stacy Renivere. She and her husband, Eustice Renivere, were both scientists who wanted to see the demonstraton. Stacy was rather curious, and she thought that if she got closer... She could see how the machine worked... And possably make her own and perfect it..."
Scott looked at the ground, Maka looked at Scott, listening. "You see... The machine hadn't been tested on humans yet. After all, the voltage was too high, and we didn't know how it would react to something bigger than an apple..." He sighed. "Stacy got to close, and you were too busy monotoring the machine to make sure that everything was working correctly... And... Stacy got sucked in... Needless to say... The machine couldn't handle her body mass... And Stacy's body imploded and exploded..."
Maka's eyes widened. She... Killed someone..? She looked at the ground and said nothing. Scott looked back up at Maka. "So... You see... Eustice is the one who hates you. Him and Stacy's family. You apologized and offered to give Eustice everything. You were willing to hand over all of your research and give it to him. He rudely declined and left... You fell into depression after the shock ran its course. But it wasn't your fault that it happened. It was Stacy's own stupidity. You tried killing yourself multiple times, but your husband was there to stop you. Afterall... You were pregnant as well. He didn't want both you and your unborn child to have to die because of something that wasn't your fault."
Maka's eyes widened, she opened her mouth to ask who, but Scott as if reading her mind answered. "I can't tell you who your husband was. You're smart, I'm pretty sure that you'll figure it out adventually." He stated. Maka closed her mouth.
"You adventually came out of depression once your daughter was born seven months later. You knew that she needed you to be there, and you pulled yourself out of depression wth your husbands help. You than pulled yourself together and started working again on the teleportation device. You tested it on yourself when the time came for it to be used with humans. It worked without a hitch, and you only went back a few years, so it was easy to teleport back to our time once you were sure it had worked." Maka smiled slightly at the idea of starting a family.
"Five years later, at the age of 41, you were one of the richest women in the world due to your invention. However, you donated most of the money to orphanages and food banks, only leaving enough to yourself for your family to live happily. Everything was going well for you, your husband, and your daughter. Your daughter started school, and you and your husband had alone time. Let's just say that one thing led to another, and you found out that you were expecting again." Maka blushed slightly at the thought of 'alone time'.
"Sense you were rich, naturally, you were also famous. News of your pregnancy reached every corner of the globe, spreading like wildfire. Of course... This news also got to Eustace..." Scott looked at the ground. "You see... Eustace became a very bitter man after the death of his wife. He wanted to make you pay by leaving your husband heart broken and shattered. He found this to be the perfect oppurtunity. Not only was he taking you away from him... But his unborn child as well." He continued, looking down at the ground further.
"You see... You and your husband were Soul Mates..." He continued, his voice cracking slightly. "Very few people find their Soul Mates in one life time. You two loved eachother so much that it hurt. Literally. Whenever you two where seperated or hurt, the other would feel ten times worse for not being able to help. When Eustice killed you, he went spiraling into the deepest depression anyone could ever go into. You had just called him, because you were coming home from the doctors appointment... He couldn't make it because your daughter was sick... And you had told him that you weren't expecting one baby, but two. The doctor had told you that one sneaky little baby boy was hiding behind his twin brother..." He paused. Maka could have sworn that she saw a tear fall to the ground, but she couldn't tell.
"On your way home from the doctors... Eustace had set up a trap for you... He had made a dog run in front of your car, and you didn't have enough time to stop... You hit the dog and promptly ran out of the car to help... What you didn't know was the Eustace was on the side of you... He put a bag over your head and took you to an alley..." He paused again. Another tear.
"He tied you to a dumpster in the alley and raped you before kicking you in the stomach multiple times... Your husband felt the wavlengths of his babies die off... And he knew something was wrong... But he was in shock... He couldn't move, and he couldn't leave his daughter alone... He was trapped... And this was what Eustace was hoping for..." More tears.
"He cut your jugular open and allowed you to bleed out, leaving you tied up with the bag over your eyes so you couldn't see anything... We never caught him... Because he went home and shot himself... However, he videotaped the entire thing, and posted it on the web before his suicide... By the time your husband finally got someone to watch his daughter and make sure she was safe, he got to you when you were taking your final breathes... No matter how much he tried, he couldn't help you. You kissed one final time before you met your death... He knew you were gone when your wavelength that was so soothing to him disapeared... He tried suicide multiple times, so that he could be with you, but his daughter was there to stop him. It took years for him to get better when he realized it wasn't too late... He could use your invention to save your life..." He stopped.
Silence covered the room, an eerie fog looming over them. At some point during Scott's story, she had started to cry. But she had also realized... He wouldn't be able to know all of this... Unless... "Scott... Are you my husband from the future..?" She managed to get out, before it became obvious that she was choaking on her tears. Scott simply looked into her eyes, unable to answer. He eyes were red from crying, and full of sadness. Maka could tell that the answer was yes... Which meant... His daughter, Makayla, was... Hers? She looked over at the little girl who was currently crying and hugging the purple cat. It was all piecing together.
The purple cat must be Blair from the furture (sense Blair had won a bet that Maka would be the one to defeat the kishin, her prize was to stay with Maka and Soul as their pet for the rest of her life and be pampered), the girl was her daughter from the furture, but... Who was Scott. She knew he was her husband from the future. But just who was he? Scott Erens was certainly a name that she had never heard before. It couldn't be Soul just desciusing himself... Could it..? No. Of course not. Mr. Cool would never fall for someone like her.
Authors Note:
Tried to include a lot in this chapter before I forgot. The ideas just kinda kept flowing in and out of me all day today. Sorry for all the late updates. Quality over Quantity I always say.
Anyways, I hope you liked this chapter. Keep in mind that this is a SoMa story. So I didn't really leave a cliff hanger, if you know what I mean.
Updates might be late due to my main computer missing. It was only two months old, and it 'broke'. By broke, I mean that it just decided to stop charging. The reason why there's a delay is because all of my plot ideas are written on there. So I went off of my planned plot, but I actually like how this came out better. Until next update, hope you all enjoy this chapter! -LeaCarosella
