Hey! So sorry I haven't updated in a while. I will try to finish this story soon!

Denmark blearily opened his eyes, waking up slowly. He tensed, sensing someone else in his bed, then relaxed, remembering the events of yesterday. He had hugged Elleore close to him in his sleep.

Elleore was still sleeping soundly, eyes flickering in sleep, with one arm hugging the pillow and the other lightly grabbing his shirt.

He detangled himself from her slowly, not wanting to wake her up, and headed to the kitchen, planning to make breakfast. He didn't have much, but he thought he might have just enough sugar left to make something special for her first morning.

Suddenly, he heard a loud pounding on the door.

Looking down the hall towards his room, he hoped that Elleore would sleep through the unwelcome visit; if not, he hoped she would at least stay in his room.

He opened the door, unsurprised to find a German soldier on his doorstep.

"Letter for Mr. Kohler from General Ludwig Bellischmidt! Heil Hitler!" The young soldier snapped, holding out the envelope.

Denmark grabbed the letter quickly. He had a feeling that what was contained in the envelope was bad news. The soldier turned and marched away, and Denmark quickly shut the door, leaning back against it as he ripped open the envelope.

Mathias Kohler,

I thought I should inform you of the completion of the camp at Frøslev. I should also inform you that you are going to be arrested on September 7, due to suspected involvement with the resistance movement. You will be sent to the Froslev Prison Camp if found guilty. If you try to escape Denmark, or are not at your current residence at the date, your people will pay dearly. I will see you at the trial.

Ludwig Bellischmidt

A groan worked its way up Denmark's throat as he reread the letter a few times. How could he have forgotten, even for a night, that he was still in the middle of world war, was still being occupied? He had been lucky to not to be questioned by guards on the way home.

Moreover, what was he to do about the current situation? Under no circumstances did he want Germany, or anyone from the Axis, discovering Elleore's existence. She had only formed a few days ago; she didn't belong anywhere near the war.

He knew he couldn't back out of the court date, and he couldn't try to hide her; they would undoubtedly search his house when they came to arrest him. And he couldn't just leave his people completely.

The thought crossed his mind about leaving her with a Danish family or member of the resistance, but he didn't like those plans. From what he could pick up over the smuggled radio, there when the axis and allies fought over land, there was a lot of bombing involved. It would eventually come to Denmark if the war was going to come to a close soon. He wanted her away from that when it happened.

There was only one thing he could do. He would have to smuggle her over the border to Sverige.

Sorry it was short, I'm going to try to update again tomorrow, I promise!

So there was only one camp in Denmark during the war, the Froslev prison camp. It was completed August, prisoners were contained around mid-august.

Elleore, I discovered, was founded August 27, 1944. I do wonder if the Nazis didn't know about it, or didn't care.

Bornholm, part of Denmark, was badly bombed by soviet forces due to the German garrison there.

Most of the Danish Jews escaped Denmark in 1943 by fishing boats and motorboats to Sweden.

See ya tomorrow!
