Always There

Chapter 4

Since admitting to herself she was starting to feel something for Zeke, Sharpay caught herself staring at him.

She knew she wasn't right for him - he deserved a nicer girl.

"What's up with you?" asked Zeke.

"Nothing," mumbled Sharpay.

She had been convinced to sit with the dream team and had been shredding her pizza since she sat down.

"You can't convince me," said Zeke.

"I'm fine Zeke," sighed Sharpay, pushing her food away from her. "Just not hungry."

Zeke's hand dived into his bag and he pulled out a Tupperware. Not just away Tupperware it was a Tupperware filled with a brownie covered in Sharpay pink icing. Sharpay knew it had caramel, strawberry and chocolate chucks running though it. It was her favourite brownie of Zeke's.

"So I suppose you're not hungry enough for this?" asked Zeke.

Sharpay's eyes opened wide and her mouth was salivating.

"I'm guessing that's a yes," smiled Zeke, handing her the box.

Sharpay quickly ate the brownie and stood up.

The brownie had filled her up, tasted divine as it had passed her lips but had reminded her that its creator would never be hers.

"I have to go check on something in the auditorium," she said.

With no comment from anyone else she strode off.

"Well we tried," sighed Gabriella.

"Sharpay is a very closed of person," smiled Ryan. "It's take a while to chip at the cracks before she opens up."

"Baking helps," smiled Zeke.

"What do you mean?" asked Ryan. "She doesn't eat bake goods."

"She's opened up to me slightly," smiled Zeke "Just takes a brownie or two."

"What's going on with you two?" asked Chad.

"I'm just her friend," smiled Zeke. "So I know that she wasn't going to the auditorium to check on something she's going to her dressing room to escape because she's feeling down. So if you'll excuse me."

Heads nodded and Zeke headed after Sharpay.

Inside Sharpay's dressing room Zeke was right Sharpay was crying. Zeke knew if he knocked he'd get no answer and he could hear the sobs outside the door. So he pushed the door open and walked in.

Sharpay was curled up on the couch, tears of anguish pouring down her face. The look on her face made Zeke's heart break and he swiftly went to her side and scooped her into his arms.

Sharpay sighed into Zeke's chest as he held her. She should of known Zeke would have come after her, he could read her better than anyone.

"Sharpay open up to me what's wrong?" asked Zeke.

Sharpay sighed and sat up, still sat in Zeke's lap and a sad expression on her face.

"Zeke," she whispered. "I think I love you."
