((if you get confused: this is in Peter's POV, I figured we could mix things up a bit. It will change back to Remus' POV vewwy soon, so don't worry! All my love, Lizney Wolf))
To Know True Love Chapter Four Discovery
Peter had almost had enough of Sirius' games and James' jokes for one evening. Sure, he would always laugh, and most of the time, in some odd way, he actually found each rude quip funny. But even he needed a few moments of peaceful quiet every so often.
The Great Hall was still full, there was still dessert on the table and no one really felt comfortable to leave until it was gone, or Dumbledore dismissed them. Peter didn't think he could wait that long...Sirius was about to tell his 'muggle on a broomstick' joke again.
"Hey! Hey, Pete! Ok...what happens when you cross a muggle and a...Pete? Where ya goin', Pete? There's still custard left!"
Peter looked down at James and Sirius with watery, uncertain eyes. "I'm going to see if Lily can help me with my Charms essay," he lied. He could see the other two Marauders physically shrink away from the thought of homework. That'll silence them, Peter thought menacingly. He usually wasn't one with manipulation, so he always reveled in a lie well received.
"Don't sprain your brain!" James half yelled, half chuckled as Peter retreated into the Great Hall. All Peter could do was roll his eyes, though he made sure to do so with his back safely toward the slightly temperamental Marauder.
He wasn't going to head to the library...no, too many people in there, even if most of them were at dinner. He didn't much like big crowds, but perhaps he'd see what the Room of Requirement could find for him this evening. He wasn't quite sure how it worked...but he was sure that he could figure it out...eventually.
The halls became eerily silent as the din of the Great Hall died away and Peter could hear the groan of ancient plumbing all around him that was usually lost behind the hustle and bustle of students. When he heard a door slam and the squeal of a giggle up ahead, he could only assume that Peeves was up to his old tricks.
A meeting with Peeves might just be worse than another dinner with Sirius' dancing charm on the pepper mill. This thought made Peter uneasy, he'd never quite gotten the hang of defensive magic, and so was powerless if the roaming poltergeist tried to attack him.
But as he drew closer to the door up ahead on his right, he noticed that the giggles were decidedly female, and by the sounds of the male voice trying to shush her, it was most definitely a pair of students.
Peter was just going to stroll on by, leave the love birds be, resist the tremendous urge to snoop...until he heard: "Ow! Remus! Remus, you're on my foot!" And suddenly his brain went on overload. How many Remus' could there be in one school? It really couldn't be that common of a name! So this had to be his Remus. Wait...Remus? Remus with someone else? Remus with a girl?
Peter peeked around the hall, made sure it was empty--save for him and the preening portrait of the eight legged poodle across the way--,crab walked with his back pressed firmly against the stone wall, and poked his weasely nose into the crack in the door.
All he could see were two pairs of feet. Blast school uniforms! It was difficult to identify someone by their penny loafers...especially ones that looked just like the ones that you and everyone else in the entire school were wearing.
Ah! A leg there...an arm...there! He couldn't tell where all these limbs were coming from, but it was plain to see that these two students were definitely interested in getting them entwined.
Then he saw a head. Was Remus' hair bright red? Not last time he checked...
Remus didn't know what time it was...and truly he didn't really care much at all. It'd been quite a while since they'd left the Kitchens, but the halls were still silent...so dinner must not be over yet.
They'd been in here for most of that time, having gotten here at a dead run so that they would miss any roaming ghosts or homicidal poltergeists. Here was...well...it was some classroom on the third floor, he guessed. It had cobwebs all over the place, and the black board was caked with a few semester's worth of un-erased chalk.
"Here. Here'll be the safest, yeah?" That was Lily, holding open the door of the musty, dark classroom. Of coarse Remus' first choice for a quiet place away from the preying eyes of students would have been the Room of Requirement. "No!" Lily had said. "James and Sirius will be in there right after dinner! You know them!"
A neat, shiny circle was outlined on the floor that was otherwise covered with an inch worth of dust. The back of Remus' robes was almost white with the grime, and he was lying in the middle of the spotless circle. Lily's robes were perfectly clean, she had insisted on...erm...being on top (if only to ensure that her freshly cleaned robes stayed that way!).
She was resting her elbows comfortably on Remus' chest, her legs adjacent on top of his. She couldn't help but giggle as he breathed in and his stomach lifted her up a few millimeters.
"There." Lily said matter-of-factly. "Now my robes stay clean, and you can't stand on my feet!"
"I told you I was sorry, good lord!" Remus leaned his head against the floor. He looked up with an evil little grin, "Gawd Lily...you sure are heavy." It didn't quite have the effected he had wanted. Instead of getting off of him, she dug her elbows deeper into his chest. He twitched. "Oh! God, uncle! No..."
Lily leaned down farther, her elbow going as far in as his bony chest would allow. Remus was grimacing satisfactorily, squirming under her to try to evade her wrath. "You cannot escape me, whelp," she murmured, breathing smoothly on the underside of Remus' neck. He moved his chin down quickly, catching her, unexpected, in another kiss.
"I wouldn't want to..." Remus had been keeping track of how many kisses they had. He knew it was pathetic...but he had done it none-the-less. And now he was very pleased to realize that they had had so many that he had actually lost count. With a grin, he kissed Lily again, and while she was relatively limp on top of him, he flipped her over.
She landed with a satisfying whump, ending up in a flurry of freshly disturbed dust that settled in her hair.
"It's a good look for you, Evans!" Remus said, loving the way her cheeks reddened in almost-rage. She glared at him, not even attempting to wipe the thick layer of dust that now coated the back of her once-black robes.
"Not a good move, Lupin...not a good move." She was relatively breathless as she pushed him down again and they rolled for a few feet until they met with the dust-padded wall. And then they were kissing again...and then Lily's hand was traveling down the front of Remus' robe, fumbling with the buttons of his undershirt...
That was when the door opened.
((ok...I know it's bad and I'm really sorry! I just can't write but I really wanted an update on here! The next chapter will be better...I swear. Review please!))
