OH MY GOSH, I'M SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING SINCE FOREVER. I HAD THE WORSE WRITERS' BLOCK EVER BUT NOW IT IS GONE.
"Fin-a-lee!"
Sadly, it moved to Darkness vs. Light and that story is on a hiatus. Besides, the parts were turning out sucky anyway.
"Aww."
Besides, with one less story on my hands, I gotta be working more on things. Also, with winter break coming up in less than a week, I might have more time.
"Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayaayayayayyaayyayayayaayayayayayayayayayayaaayaaayya-"
Shut up.
"Alright miss nasty pants."
You mean antsy?
"No."
Oh yea, for now on in this story, it will always start with a 3rd POV of Herobrine. Yea, okay then. Let's get going.
Chapter Three - Making Bonds, I Think
At night when no one was awake, Herobrine settled in, watching his prey in their slumber. Actually, he's been watching for a while now, since he had scared Sammy and his mother on the square. No one had seen him since. But he's seen them.
Herobrine thought about what he should do with them, the Chosens. An interesting ten this year, he thought to himself as his eyes floated to Lilliana Thag, who looked peaceful while she was asleep. Her orange hair would be easily traceable at night, even day. Easy trackable prey, maybe. A nice, braggy, headstrong side of her she exposed whenever possible. Another side of her she always hid, about the basketball of her brother. Maybe he should do it again.
But Herobrine was getting ahead of himself. He looked at Christos Excel, his fist clenched together under his pillow, his face all in knots of sheer anger. He'd be a hard one to take down if Herobrine decided to do so. Short-tempered Christos was, especially about the one the Games were named after.
Herobrine chuckled and flicked his soulless eyes to Jacob Hart, who was wrapped around his girlfriend, Lae Louse. It'd be torture, Herobrine thought, for one of them if the other died while one survived. He decided to do so, just unsure who right now.
The last one in the room, Joe Gravidel, the oldest of the Chosens, the one of anti-peace. If he lived, Herobrine thought, he'd had more of a reason to promote anti-peace. Others would believe. There would be wars, murderers, deaths, blood, burning civilizations because they can't promote peace. There must be violence.
But thats already happening, Herobrine thought, and Herobrine himself is mostly the reason. Besides, no one believes the dude.
Herobrine walked out the room and into the one with the other five sleeping Chosens. The first one he saw was Reen Navel. The little bit aloof, stubborn maybe. He was still wearing that golden shirt from the reaping. Matches his dark brown hair perfectly. Herobrine couldn't think of anything about him. Unsure whether to keep him alive or not.
Herobrine stared at the Anets, seeing Dawnlyn and Naudia curled up in a protective hug as Lae and Jacob were. The two were like twins a bit, only one a lot smaller than the other. It'd be the same, Herobrine thought, for one of them to die and the other to suffer. But Dawnlyn is very protective over Naudia, and it would be a shame on Dawnlyn's part if Naudia were to die right in front of her. Then again, if Naudia lived and her sister died in some horrific way, Naudia would be scarred, and she has more years to live in paranoia. But if they both died, their parents would suffer too- losing both their daughters- but they don't have that many years left in them.
Herobrine's eyes shifted to Markelly and nearly laughed out loud on how Lilliana called him Kelly. Maybe he could make the two the only ones alive and have them forced together. It'd be torture for both them, and much funny entertainment.
Herobrine turned to face Sammy and caught a big surprise- Sammy's eyes were wide open. Whether the boy would think this as a dream or not, Herobrine decided to me a nightmare. He growled at the little Pentruse kid, who hid his blackened-eyed head under the blanket, quivering.
Holding his hand to his mouth to keep from laughing out loud, Herobrine teleported away.
Lilliana's POV
"But I saw him!" I heard Sammy pronounce "I really did! He looked right at me and growled!"
I walked out my room wearing a fluffy cyan robe- really brings out my hair- and starred at the open door of the the room.
"Sammy, there is no way Herobrine could've," Reen said.
"But I did see him! He was looking right at me! And he growled!" Sammy cried. Markelly, Reen, Dawnlyn, and Naudia surrounded the-
"Who?" I asked.
Markelly glared at me. "He said Herobrine was inspecting us last night," Markelly said.
"He can't hurt us before the-'s Game begins," I said and yawned.
"But he didn't hurt us! He was watching us with his soulless eyes!" Sammy said "Hero- I mean, he was looking between the five of us in this room! Then he looked at me! I'll never forget it!"
Naudia whimpered and leaned against her older sister. "Dawnlyn, I'm scared."
"You should be, prey," I said and smiled devilishly.
Naudia only got more upset. I remembered my father's words- to kill the Chosens if it came to that. Naudia would be on my list.
"Lil' stop it," Dawnlyn said "You could be the first one to die."
My face turned red. I was not going to die! My father forbad it! And how dare she call me Lil'! I stomped up to her and yelled, "You know what-? You and your teeny-weeny sister could get your heads ripped off! Or thrown into a pit of lava! Or maybe, Herobrine's plan is to watch one of your sister die, her limbs pulled off one-by-one? Hey-, have you ever considered that? Huh, huh?!"
Naudia began to cry into Dawnlyn's chest. I could see her older sister's tears shimmer in her pale blue eyes.
Laughing, I turned to Markelly, his eyes huge with fear and surprise. "And what does our Kelly have to say about all this? Being from the poor side of the city where much of you die?"
Joe's POV
I had the front row seat to the world's ugliest and most violent conversation ever in the history of mankind. I've heard of one's getting swords pulled out and others ending up in the hospital and dying, but this doesn't compare.
Lilliana was laughing and asked, "and what does our Kelly have to say about all this? Being from the poor side of city where much of you die?"
Just then, YanSun ran from who-knows-where and pulled Lilliana away from the group of younger Chosens and through a corridor. I followed the two, Lilliana swearing as she is, into a room of the dining car with a large table inhabited by a bunch of people.
"Now listen up, Thag," YanSun said harshly "You need to grab up your brains - if any - and organize your attitude. You aren't going to act the way you are for the next couple of weeks, understand?"
Lilliana yawned. "Seriously Yawn? Nothing is wrong. I'm going to-"
"No one will like you, Herobrine does not like you. He probably won't spare you. You stop being so prideful and put up your act. You aren't immortal, you could die! The world doesn't resolve around you for Steve's sake! Are you listening to me?"
She wasn't. Lilliana peered at some of the people at the table and I realized…
Them. Youtubers.
Lilliana screamed and ran. She yelled, "Oh my Notch I'm your… hey!"
The witch stepped up to the unblinking Sky and whacked his head. A thunk came from impact. "These are Nether-worthy wood!"
Behind me were the other older three Chosens. The younger Chosens peered over the hallway. Dawnlyn, clearly upset, uttered, "Wood?"
Markelly walked up to them. Five chairs were filled with wooden Sky, AntVenom, CavemanFilms, Deadlox, and TrueMU. Markelly tapped on one of the wooden impostors and said, "The liars."
Everyone at the table erupted into laughter except one petite lady with bright yellow hair.
Lilliana ran up to YanSun and smacked her face. "You- liar! Impostor-creator! Have her executed by Herobrine himself!"
Though the situation wasn't good to laugh at, I was one of the 8 laughing Chosens.
Lilliana's POV
YanSun pushed me away and rubbed her cheek. "Kirkous! Pose! It's been done!"
What's been done? I thought, though I didn't care at the moment. Almost everyone was laughing, and I was the embarrassed one.
Two men from the table stood up and carried away the wooden imposters, laughing. My cheeks blared red and I yelled, "You- planned this all along with your Kirkous and Poop!"
"Pose," YanSun laughed "And don't say that again around him."
"But you lied to us!" I exclaimed "How could you! We're gonna freaking die soon and you want to spend our last days wallowing in your stupid pranks!"
Christos, one of the only few not laughing, said, "Well, I hate to side with her, but that's true."
"See!" I shouted and pointed my finger at Christos. "He believes it! So does everyone else!"
"I like humor," Sammy exclaimed, chuckling.
"Shut up, Midget," I growled.
"Well," YanSun said "I'll stop if you don't want me to, but this only shows that not all things are as they seem, Lilliana, and my 'pranks' are really outside-the-training-center-training. Speaking of the training center, we'll be there by morning in two days, so don't get too comfortable."
Dawnlyn's POV
Sure, I was disappointed in the YouTubers weren't making a true appearance, but I didn't linger on it.
Lilliana did. She never forgave YanSun and sat farthest from her during breakfast. There was one lady, the petite blonde in the white robes of a servant, who didn't laugh, one of the servers, who knelt beside Lilliana while pouring her juice and whispered. Lilliana laughed and nodded her head, whispering back to the lady.
After breakfast, I stood on the balcony that hung off the train car and looked as the world sped by. Naudia joined me, followed by Reen.
"Why can't we just jump off this?" Reen asked "To escape."
"You can't," I explained, holding out my hand to the railing where a burst of small static knocked it back. "Some sort of force field keeps you off."
"I don't get why they want to protect us from something they don't want."
"The City of Ways found a way out of devastation."
"Well, I really wanna jump off this thing. I would, rather have a broken leg and be in the middle of nowhere than have Herobrine slit my throat."
Naudia whimpered.
"Be careful of what you say around her," I hushed.
"Ten-year-olds aren't babies," Reen said like it was obvious "I remember when I was ten. I used to climb the apartment buildings to the roof."
"What're you, eleven?" I asked.
Reen rolled his eyes, walking away.
I wonder when we're suppose to make trust with each other.
Markelly's POV
Reen stomped away from the train balcony where Naudia and Dawnlyn were watching the landscape past by. I left them alone and tried to find Sammy. Almost immediately, I heard Lilliana say "How's it going, Kelly?"
I whipped around. Lilliana's orange and cyan hair bounced with every laugh.
"Can you stop calling me that?" I asked, maybe for once the nice approach would work.
"Lemme think about that, no," Lilliana laughed sharply. In the corner of my eye, I saw the blond lady who didn't laugh at YanSun's prank, laughing as well. I thought these Chosen Helpers were suppose to help us. I guess not.
I stomped away to the younger Chosens' room and found Sammy talking with Christos. They sat apart from each other under different bunk beds.
"I do have to admit, she is an idiot," Sammy said "Except if I ever said it to her face, I'd die before we'd get to this training center."
Christos laughed, a deep one that sounded more like a snort. "She has a crush on Jacob. She's one of the stalkers at school."
"Its hard to ignore. I wish I was older."
"Being young makes you more innocent."
"But if I were older I'd have less of a life to loose!"
I walked into the room, getting noticed. Christos let out a tight sigh. "For a second, I thought you were Lilliana," he admitted "Where is the witch?"
"Terrorizing everyone on the train with some Chosen Helper as a side kick," I told.
"That's all we needed," Sammy whined.
"Aren't we even suppose to make some sort of 'trust' or 'bonds' with each other," Christos said "Because it doesn't look like it."
"Well I have more people to talk to now than I ever had in my life," Sammy said.
"This is a bonding," I started "What did you do with your last two hours with family? I tore up my room."
Christos nodded. "I did too, in front of my brother. He doesn't care."
Sammy looked back and forth, nervous, when the attention went to him. I could tell her didn't want to talk.
"You don't have to," I said.
"Herobrine threatened me and my mother," Sammy spilled.
Christos jumped, not noticing the bunk bed and banged his head on the upper bed.
"He what?!" I exclaimed.
"My mother spoke up against him… and now… Herobrine swore I… would not come home alive," Sammy said in near tears.
I wrapped my arm around him. "I'll try to protect you," I vowed.
"But Herobrine is too strong. Even being superstitious about him doesn't work. I'm going to die painfully and my mother will watch it and kill herself, you see."
Christos punched his hand into his fist. "The little demon. I'll make sure he doesn't kill you."
"T-thanks," Sammy stuttered.
Lae's POV
"You two are so in love," someone mooned "It's like you're fused together. Wait, you are, by fate."
I faced away from kissing Jacob and looked at a tall, skinny man, more likely a Chosen Helper, looking at us from inside the train. Me and Jacob had been looking over the blurry landscape on a balcony. The man worse a dull red T-shirt and black, shiny pants. He had dull red eyes, just like his shirt, as if he was bleeding and had bloodshot eyes. His hair was over wrong, being wider than his head falling off his head in a ponytail, the same red as his eyes and shirt. Black spikes came out of his hair, which gave me the feeling he's one of the gangs in the city. Actually, I recognized him just as the leader of one of the gangs that roam the City of Ways.
"Leave them alone, Evan," said an approaching woman. She had short brown hair and blue eyes that shimmered fiercely. She had on a servant's white robes that just fit her; not that she was anywhere near fat, but it just fit her to her thighs. Her skin was the same color as Evan's but that pretty much was all they had in common, along with their height.
"I'm only joking-" Evan defended.
"You are always joking," said the woman. "Wait, aren't you suppose to have been at the training center to set everything up?"
"I miss the previous train, so I took this one."
Katie glared. "Say sorry."
Evan looked shocked. "What did I do?"
"Say sorry."
Evan lifted his nose. "I don't say sorry. That is, until you tell me you love me."
The woman walked away, blushing. Taking his chance, Evan turned back to us. "I wonder how you two do it," he said "Katie hates me but I just love her to death."
Me and Jacob giggled.
"Whats that?" Evan questioned.
"Nothing, only me and Jacob used to be nemesis before 9th year and then we fell in love," I explained.
"How'd you do it then, Jacob Hart?" Evan asked.
"Called get an experience with her," Jacob advised.
Evan got an evil smirk on his face. He turned and ran in the direction of Katie, shouting "Thanks for the tip, sacrifices!"
Somehow that stirred me. Jacob laughed, saying, "I wonder what he's going to do."
"He called us sacrifices," I retorted. "And I hate it."
"Why's that?"
"Think, we're in some Herobrine Game to die just so everyone else can have their freedom. Don't they know we want to spend eternity with each other?"
Jacob sighed solemnly, but beamed up with a good alternative like always. "If we both live, we still have our lives, but if we both die, then we can spend eternity in the Aether."
I smiled, saying "I like that a lot."
Lilliana's POV
The blonde Chosen Helper servant, Manda, came back with news. "Apparently not a lot of Chosens are getting to know each other," she explained "So we have to go back to the dinning car and greet them."
I scowled. "Nincompoops."
Manda took me by the arm. "No matter how much I hate my job, I'm a Chosen Helper so you have to come with me."
I scowled. "So why don't you quit your job?"
"We're on a ten Game contract, five years. Besides, it pays well."
The money. Always the sweet, tasteful urged of pleasurable money.
Reen's POV
Lilliana and the petite blonde Chosen Helper were the last to arrive.
"Sit here, Lilliana," YanSun said, pulling up a chair for the fifteen-year-old in our little circle next to the fireplace. She snarled then sat next to me and Christos. The fire gave a popping sound the moment she plumped into the chair.
"Now," YanSun began "We'll be on this train for one more day after this-"
"Why is the training center so far away?" I questioned.
"It's not. Only this train is slower than most trains and we can only afford one driver, who sleeps from 10pm to 6am."
"That's not bright," Markelly remarked.
"Anyway, you guys, the two days we have on this train are suppose to be a start off of you ten making friends, therefore less fights where Chosens get injured, sometimes fatal."
"So Chosens can kill each other?!" Lilliana perked up, excited. I wonder why that got her so excited.
"Oh, please no," Sammy gasped, wide eyed.
"Well, we can't really control you from the station," YanSun said "But, never mind that. Right now, I want you all to say one thing about yourselves."
We looked at each other. Sammy melted into his chair, emerged in shyness. The poor sucker.
Naudia jumped up and announced "I'm an actor and want to be one when I grow up!"
"You won't be able to grow up," Lilliana muttered under her breath. Her comment made Naudia sit down, her cheeks flushed red.
"Okay, in the circle. Dawnlyn?" YanSun said, trying hard to smile.
Dawnlyn's eyes reached the top of her eyelids, thinking. That reminds me I really have to be thinking about what I should say. Nothing that'll give Lilliana a chance to bully me with her counter-depress.
Dawnlyn took a deep breath and declared "I can remember most of what I heard."
"Phonographic memory," Christos muttered.
Lilliana was about to speak but Jacob cut her off. "I'm head of the football team."
"What is this football you speak of?" Markelly asked. Lilliana burst into laughs.
Lae said "I'll be marrying Jacob next year. He'll propose to me."
Joe cursed.
"Well, since you're right next to her, you go," YanSun requested.
"I"m better than Jacob, whatever the freak he is," Joe growled. Lae's eyes widen and Jacob's face morphed to anger.
"Sammy, please be something good," Yansun begged.
"I… I… uhmm-"
"He has a mother that cares for him and will back him up with sponsorship terms," Markelly jumped in, winking at the twelve-year-old. The younger boy actually sighed.
"Well," YanSun said "That's sweet. Your turn, Christos."
"I want to bash Herobrine's hea-"
"Anything besides that. For now on something good."
"I am a strong young man willing to do anything to get my life back."
"Who isn't?" I added. All the boys' except Sammy's hands went up.
YanSun eyed me. I realized I hadn't thought of anything, but really her vision was directed at the witch between me and the young man.
"I am a beautiful, loved young lady-"
Markelly faked coughed with the words "Not even close" between.
"I'm serious you guys," YanSun shouted angrily "Enough of this. Pretend you are all strangers to one another who are being prepared to be thrown into a place for the rest of your lives. You gotta know one another are friends."
"Not gonna happen," Jacob said, glaring at Joe.
"The world is not filled with peace because there's no such thing," Joe retorted like it was obvious.
YanSun's cheeks became red. She shouted, "Enough! Reen, go."
I was quiet. YanSun's eyes literally were red with enragement and glaring right at me. She's preparing me to fight a loosing battle along with every other stupid person in this room. And she wants me to make friends with this bunch of unfortunate victims? What was I gonna say?
"Not gonna happen." I stalked out the room.
Markelly's POV
After Reen left, there was an unbreaking tension between us Chosens. YanSun dismissed us, looking defeated.
"We're a hard bunch," I said to Sammy and Christos as we went to our rooms.
"It's because the witch is with us," Christos said "Everything would be easier to handle is she wasn't around to make crude comments and harassments."
"True," Sammy agreed.
"Do you think we could ask to have her switched out?" I asked. "Since she's the problem."
"No," Christos barked "She's finally getting what she deserves. Death!"
Naudia's POV
I strayed out of Dawnlyn's grip and ran off to the direction where Reen went. I found him in one of the train car's balconies, trying to shove his way through the force field.
"That won't work," I said loudly.
"Thank you captain obvious," Reen groaned, rubbing his head. "I just wanna get the heck outta here. I'm only eleven, you're ten. I mean, seriously, children to be slaughtered by Herobrine just so he can have some fun? Nu-uh. Every six months it happens. Lots of children die so others can grow up and laugh and smile while some of us get our heads chopped off crying and bleeding and the survivors suffer for the rest of their lives."
"Don't you want the city to be safe?"
"I have my own life to live and keep it to myself. I rather not die before I become a teenager."
"Don't you want your little bro to be safe?"
Reen looked at me. "How-"
"We're in the same year at school and you blabbed about having a younger, unborn brother every day."
"I really don't know who the baby will be. I mean-"
"I know what you mean, Reen, listen. If we don't have the Herobrine Games, then the City of Ways will go to war with Herobrine and he'll kill us all, including you and your family. But with the Herobrine Games, we have a chance to live, understand? And before you speak again, I see how unjust it is and ever since me and my sister were reaping, even before that, I wish it was gone, the Games. I wish they were gone."
Reen's hands went into fists. "You realize that there was only seven ten-year-olds who ever survived the Herobrine Games? And two of them ended up killing themselves because the nightmares were too much? Do realize how slim of a chance you have to survive? And me? And your sister? And every Chosen on this train? Do you know how many people are wondering what your parents are going to do now that they lost Naudia and Dawnlyn Anet to Herobrine? They aren't even hoping-"
"Yes they are!" I screamed, pushing him against the rail, tears blinding my eyes. "They are! There is people waiting for me to come home! Or at least hoping! There's people… people who want to crush Herobrine… because he kills children… including… me."
I plopped on my bum and scowled at the floor, cold, salty tears trailing down my face, into my open mouth, onto the floor. I felt a pat on my back. Expecting it to be Dawnlyn, I looked up and found her in the train, leaning against the wall, her mouth open in shock. I looked up at Reen and asked "Why?"
"Why?" Reen smiled. "Now you understand me. Now you understand why the Herobrine Games must end. Together, me and you will endure the hardships and when we return to the City of Ways alive, we will end the Games. Defeat Herobrine. Kill him! Make him know what we feel! That we are human, not disposable funnies for his pleasure! The 89th Herobrine Games will be the first battle in the rebellion that'll end the Games and be rid of the demon of Minecraftia! Forever and ever! The Games will end! Rebelling the Herobrine Games!"
At first, I looked at him questionably. Then, I studied his proud and brave smile, his bright gray-green eyes shining in the dimming sunlight, the way his short silky hair waved in the wind like a hero.
I stood and shouted "The Games will end! Rebelling the Herobrine Games!"
I feel like I tricked you guys but I decided not to involve the YouTubers...
"Get the swords!"
Don't!
I am still accepting OCs for Chosen Helpers. Actually, your OC may get into the sequel of this story, which is hinted in Naudia's POV. The form is on my profile... somewhere near the top. I'll put it by the top, kay ppls? I'd love a review and this story is getting close to 700 views! Not much of a milestone, but my next biggest story has been wrapped up.
So... yeah.
And yea, Evan and Katie OCs are from Bukkitthebrony! Gracias bukkit (so many red lines on my end), I had fun writing them. Rainbowtwister219, your OC will appear next chapter (at least she caught the previous train of Chosen Helper trainers).
Cya readers!
