Area-C(3): Aile and Prairie's Apartment
Aile grimaced as she looked down at the paper on the desk before her. There were so many little calculations and doodles that no one but the Transporter could possibly hope to understand them. She scratched her head as she wrote down another number, but after thinking she scratched it out and wrote another number underneath it.
She groaned as she pushed away from the desk, annoyance clear in her demeanor. Tossing her pencil onto the desk she slumped over as she felt a headache form.
"Ugh, I will never be able to figure this out."
"Figure what out Aile?"
Aile then jumped, flipped around, and backed into her desk out of sheer terror. Standing before her was Prairie who was giggling at Aile's little display. It took a few moments for Aile to get her heart back to beating at a regular pace.
"Prairie, please stop doing that. It freaks me out every time."
Prairie just smiled, the girl had a really bad habit of entering and exiting rooms and conversations without being detected. However, it seemed that she mainly used this skill to frighten Aile every chance she got.
"Aile, it is now 2 A.M., what are you trying to do that is so important to keep you up this late?"
"Just finishing some stuff that Mr. Harpuia assigned the class. Nothing that important, but I still need to get it done."
Prairie tilted her head and gave Aile a very curious gaze, it concerned Aile what she might be curious about.
"Mr. Harpuia didn't assign any work for any of his classes today. He said that we deserved a break."
Aile chuckled, she had been caught in the small lie, but it really didn't bother her. Besides, if Prairie actually knew what she was working on, it would probably get weird. Aile was about to speak again, until she saw that Prairie had somehow managed to get ahold of the paper and was now reading it. Aile made a desperate grab for the paper, only for it to be snatched away from her as Prairie stepped out of the way.
"Well, it simply looks like the calculations one would make to determine the age of a Repliroid, or not, I really can't tell with all of this scratched out work and doodles."
Prairie looked up from the paper as she again avoided Aile's lunge. She smiled when Aile crashed into the wall. Going back to the paper she continued to study it as Aile pulled herself off of the wall.
"Why do you want to know how old this Repliroid is?"
Aile didn't answer she just stood up and tried to quietly grab the paper from Prairie while she had her back turned, she tried, but Prairie almost instantly sidestepped it and Aile fell to the floor.
"Seriously Aile, I will give the paper back if you just answer the question. Either that or spend more time in Mr. Phantom's classes."
Aile pulled herself up, annoyed at the fact that she was so easily bested in her retrieval attempts by a girl that was not even paying attention. However, she sighed and resigned herself to answer.
"I want to know how old you are Prairie."
"And why is that Aile?"
Prairie giggled as Aile stood up, the look on the Transporter's face was very amusing. It resembled something between defeat and flustered.
"I just wanted to know if you would be looked at weirdly while your with me."
"And why would I be looked upon like that?"
"Because last time I checked, you are almost three hundred, while I am fifteen."
"Yes, and?"
Aile shrugged she walked back to her chair.
"Well, people kind of frown upon that kind of age gap with humans, so I was just worrying."
Prairie chuckled and walked over to Aile, wrapping her arms around the taller girl Prairie continued to smile as Aile returned the hug.
"Aile, the age of a Repliroid is calculated by how long ago they have been reformatted. Yes I am almost three hundred, but how it stands I am only sixteen."
Aile suddenly had a look that told Prairie that she hadn't remembered that.
"Besides, there are no laws restricting Repliroids and humans being together if they wish. So there is really nothing for you to worry about."
"Man, I am such an idiot."
Prairie giggled once more as she let go of Aile and turned to the door, turning back around she gave Aile a small wave.
"Now how about you get some sleep. You'll need all of the sleep you can get for Mr. Zero's class tomorrow."
With that Prairie vanished, Aile chuckled as she sat back at her desk. Pulling out more papers she scribbled a few notes before turning to stare at the wall, no particular reason why, she just needed to clear her head. After a few more minutes of this she returned to the work and frowned when she realized how much of the first page was blank.
"I will never get to sleep tonight."
I hope you have enjoyed! In this story the world is a kind of school thing. The Livemetals are teachers, and that is about as far as I got with it.
