Heeeeeeeeeeeey ok tthis has been a very long time...sorry for the long wait x.x Hopefully it's length will make up for it.
The moon was high in the sky and the air was chilled as the servant walked through the forest. His eyes darting about, like pinballs in a machine, he was hunting. The Einzbern Castle was somewhere around here. His smile shone as bright as his sunglasses under the moonlight while the large hat on top of his head shaded his face in the darkness. He could feel it. Tonight was going to be one of those nights. When spending an eternity in the dark one discovers the difference in the nights. Tonight was one that was going to be filled with bloodshed. Someone was going to die tonight. He then turned his head toward his master who had been following him. Kariya had no intention of stopping his servant do as he pleased for the time being. Tohsaka was still in hiding thus there was nothing to do.
"What are we doing here Berserker?"
"Hunting. Didn't you say that the war was called off until someone hunted down Caster?"
"Yes but we are heading to the Einzberns, to Saber."
"Yes. A wounded Saber at that. What is a better target for a class that is full of cowardice? The glory of taking out a wounded lion has always been favorable to the weak. It would be natural for him to attack Saber since she is the most vulnerable at the moment."
"Is that right? Is this the famous Guerrilla warfare of the son of the dragon?"
"Yes and while they are fighting I will jump in and take them both out at once. I do hope that they team up against me. That would be very fun indeed."
"Are you sure you came here to fight Caster or are you here to gawk at that king of knights? After all you have a reputation for being distracted with women."
"My. Is that sarcasm I hear coming from your lips? My master."
"Mild teasing...at best. Anyway I have no interest in Caster or Saber. They will take each other out but if you want to interrupt them fine, You still have some extra prana from those boys the other night, but I am going back home.. Don't use up too much." He ordered walking away with a yawn. Berserker smiled to himself. Good that meant he could let loose without having to worry about the mortal. All was well anyway.
He smelled it. Blood. The scent of blood filled the air as he continued to walk. feeling a coldness in the air that only another demonic force could give off. That feeling of dread that he himself has given off for so long. It was almost surreal to feel it himself. Yes! Finally! Another abandoned creature was in this wood. Somewhere there was another him. He was very curious to see what he would be like. Would he be weak, mad and a more despicable monster than himself or would he be something glorious? Would he be cowardly or brave? Loud or quiet? Beautiful or hideous? So many questions to be answered and so little time to get there but still he walked. He did not run or sprint. He was patient while the questions in his head nagged at him. That was when he was in range to hear them. 'Ah. They are already starting without me.' He thought to himself.
Saber swung her sword time and time again against these demons. Cutting, slashing and hacking. Her face full of rage towards Caster. That beast that had tricked her with fake children. That mad magus who dared mock her and the others by already claiming victory. He deserved a quick death by her blade. Excalibur. The blade forged by the world, for the world. This match was no longer to covet the grail, it was a fight to end Caster's twisted effect on the world. He can no longer be allowed to corrupt the war. No he had to die. That is what she told herself. What she always told herself. They needed to die. It had to be quick and honorable no matter what. She would NOT stoop to their level. Never. A king had to be more than that. Never slow and painful. Not in battle.
The endless sea of monsters rolled towards her. The constant and ever growing horde. It was becoming increasingly difficult. How? Even the class of caster does not grant infinite prana. Unless, that book. Saber glared at him. "Don't tell me that book is your noble phantasm?"
"Yes my holy maiden. It was given to me by my mentor, The Great Prelati! It gives me the power to control the forces of hell itself! Tell me holy virgin. Do you still believe your beloved god will save you? Will he condemn me to hell or will he ignore me like before? Those hundreds of lost souls screaming for his benevolence and justice. Yet he did not come for them or you!" Caster proclaimed as the demons surrounded Saber. Their boneless limbs wrapped around her. Holding her down with their combined strength. Saber blinked suddenly as they were wiped away by several slashes and fled to regenerate.
When Saber looked up she saw Lancer standing next to her pointing his lance toward Caster, who pulled at his hair in fury. "You dare interrupt my reunion with my holy virgin?! I have every right to her! Even her soul is mine! You have no claim to her! Leave us!" He howled at the newcomer.
"Listen here Caster. If you wish to pursue Saber romantically then I will step aside but if you wish to fight her then I must intervene, for our duel is not yet over."
"Lancer?" The king of knights asked. Confused by this sudden change of heart.
"Do not mistake my intent Saber. I will be the one to defeat you, but my orders are to defeat caster. So our best option would be to combine our strength is it not?"
"Very well then." Saber said moving into a stance. "I will take the fifty on the right. You will take the fifty on the left. Think you can handle it?"
"HA! I can take down a hundred of these creatures on my own Saber."
"Fine, first one to take down a hundred wins."
"So it is a competition then?" Lancer said before jumping into the fray with Saber jumping to her side as well. Both of them slicing and dicing their opponents while keeping a close eye on the other was commendable indeed. To see two warriors of such caliber in battle like this was a rare treat to see. Suddenly a large colony of bats swarmed the area. With their flapping wings and loud screams, they blinded and deafened all those in it's path. they all kept circling their prey as they all converged into a single mass. A large clump of small winds and fur began to mesh together, creating a humanoid figure with glowing red eyes. laughing ensued ,as the humanoid became more detailed and refined, it became clear that it was Berserker who had also entered the fray.
Caster howled in anger. "Another interruption! How dare you!" He pointed at Berserker. A small demons began to crowd around Berserker. He smirked as the group lunged at him. He leaped to the side crashing into one of them while pulling out his Jackal and shooting behind him without looking. The bullets ripping the demons apart as he bit into the one in front of him, devouring it. Lancer and Saber both stopped to see that Berserker had entered the fray, Soon they went back to their fights. Though no matter how many monsters they put down more sprang up. None of the Heroes could advance. Not Saber with her Excalibur, nor Lancer with his Gae-Dearg and Gae-Buidhe, nor Berserker with his guns. Berserker smiled at Caster. It was impressive to hold back three servants like this.
Caster's shrilled laugh was sounded as the servants were back to square one. "You cannot cut through my horde! I will see your face twist in pain! Jeane!" Saber frowned. "No matter how many we cut down more spring up."
Lancer looked over to Saber. "Any ideas?"
"Can you run on the wind Lancer?"
Lancer smirked at the idea. Already figuring out what the king of knights had planned. "Won't that make us open from behind?" Looking to the monsters behind the group as well as both sides.
Berserker had put away his guns and the symbols on his hands began to glow. "Releasing control art restrictions to level three...level two...one. Cromwell invocation approved. Hold release until targets are SILENCED!" he chanted as red eyes appeared all over his body and the ground. Black hounds and monsters ripped out of the shadows and his body, with amazing speed they raced and took the creatures by surprise. They were actually devouring the horrors as they in turn were also devoured. It was a mutual slaughter on both sides. The maniacal laughter of Berserker boomed across the forest as the shadows and flesh horrors fought.
Saber smirked as she saw Berserker covering their flanks. "It seems shameful to rely on an all or nothing tactic like this." Lancer nodded agreement. "Though there is no honor in slaying these things forever."
Saber raised her sword as she gathered the prana she needed. She moved her stance and made it so the hilt of the sword was at the same level as her head before pushing the sword forward. "Invisible-Air!" she called out as the air hiding the golden blade she held. The wind blowing the horde away into a constant vortex. Lancer took this opportunity to lunge forward and run into the vortex. With one decisive strike he landed a hit on Caster's spellbook causing all of his horrors to be reduced back into the blood sacrifices they sprung from.
Caster yelled as he pulled out some of his hair. "HOW DARE YOU! Next we meet I, Gille De Rais, will devour you all!" Saber rushed for him. "Not so fast. Monster!" Though she did so in vain as the ground exploded into blood covering the air with red mist. When the mist cleared Caster was nowhere to be seen.
Lancer and Saber both showed signs of disappointment and what was this? Lowering their guard? Beserker smirked as he held up his jackal at them and opened fire. Both of them hearing the shots suddenly jumped out of the way as the bullets ripped through the trees, causing them to collapse.
Berserker laughed at them as they moved into their fighting stances. "Did you forget about me already? King of Knights?! First Knight of Fiana?!" Berserker bellowed. Insulted that they let their guard down in front of him. Lancer all but growled at Berserker.
"What is the meaning of this madman?! Did you not come here to help kill Caster?"
"No, I came here to fight. Though now I am interested in Caster, I would very much prefer to kill both of you right here and now though."
That was when the feeling hit them all at the same time. Dread. That twinge that their masters were in danger. Suddenly Berserker snarled. "You dare call me back now?! It had better be good Kariya!" He yelled as he rapidly disappeared.
Now with Berserker gone, Saber relaxed a little though noticed Lancer did not. "Something wrong Lancer?"
"It is my master. He is in danger."
"Ah...It must be because of my master...Lancer go. I will stand aside for tonight. We will conclude out bout another time."
"My thanks Saber" Lancer replied as he too disappeared.
Kariya was running. Damn that Berserker using up all that prana and become that distracted that he had to use a command seal to make him notice. The bugs didn't even affect the horde that was chasing him and he was carrying an unconscious Rin. Suddenly he felt it. Berserker was here. The horde was suddenly engulfed in darkness and red eyes. Screaming as they were dragged into an alley before they were silenced and the sound of flesh being ripped and devoured was heard.
Kariya caught his breath as he stopped running. A low chuckle was heard from behind him. "Berserker! What the hell took you so long! I even had to waste a command spell on you!" The vampire chuckled at his master. "I was caught up in something. By the way master." Berserker kneeled down before him in a courtly manner. Bowing his head like a proper servant. "I wish to investigate Caster a bit more. This attack on your person is unforgivable. I shall grind him to dust."
Kariya frowned at his servant. "No. Tokiomi is our goal. You are to focus on Archer and kill him." Kariya still furious at his servant's actions. He gave a clear order not to waste too much prana this early in the grail wars. Berserker's grin turned devilish. He would get what he wanted. To learn about the monster that is Caster. "My master. Caster identified himself as Gille De Rais. The serial killer bluebeard. I overheard him and his master planning an attack on the Matou and Tohsaka...something about taking their heirs and luring their master's out." It was a lie on his part. Caster obviously had no plans other than attempting to win Saber's affection but he wanted something to chase rather than just blindly go into battle. Caster's master while unknown to them didn't seem like a very smart mage to let his servant needlessly kill so many and fight three servants at once. Someone that obviously wouldn't think of a plan that complex let alone be able to execute it, but his master didn't know that. All he had was the faithful word of his servant. His evil grin widened as he began to manipulate his master. He was strong willed but not as much as 'her'. 'She' would have seen right through his tactics but not Kariya. He was far too emotional for that.
"What will happen to poor Sakura if I am to ignore Caster? Even Rin was attacked by his master which shows proof that I am right. If you truly love them then let me hunt Caster!" His hair began to wave like shadows and his face twisted into that of a psychotic deviant befitting his class. "Let me find him and strip his flesh from his bones! Let me massacre him and his horrors to hell! Let me do this for you. I am a monster and I will do what needs to be done."
Kariya stared at his servant. He had a good argument. "Very well...Search and Destroy! Kill Caster and his master before they can succeed their plan." He gave the order. Berserker's smile grew wider and more twisted. "As you command. My master." He said before disappearing into shadows.
Hopefully the next chapter will be up soon...Will start writing soon as this is posted.
