Kakashi closed his eyes and rubbed his thumb and forefinger over the lids, trying to rub away the frustration and strain as he read over the warn document time and time again. He could count the times that he had read the mission's statement; one hundred and thirty-five times. The silver haired man ached every time the words echoed throughout his head. Every single time he read the documentation his mind did nothing but talk through the scenario; this time was no an exception.

The woman her size has about 8 pints of blood, 10 when using any kind of soldier pill. The body of a trained shinobi can lose about 40 percent before needing a blood transfusion. His head ached, the thought hurt him but he needed to figure it out.

A total of 20 pints of Haruno Sakura's blood were found over a 4 mile stretch of the Cloud Country; over 4 pints found within a mile of comrade's bodies.

His breath hitched as he read the sentence over again. With his experience, he knew that there was a slim chance that Sakura could have lived, even with the blood loss suffered. He read on, trying to figure out what had unfolded over the time of the mission.

Months after being deemed MIA, a body was found.

His stomach lurched, a knot building in his throat as his eyes refused to read on. It took a moment for him to regain his composure, even though he knew exactly what the paper said.

The investigation continued for a total of 11 months

Medics determined, from 4 different autopsies of different parts of the body, that the DNA undeniably belonged to Haruno Sakura. Cause of death determined to be self-administered cyanide poisoning, chakra depletion, and blood loss.

Leaning back, Kakashi sighed, falling against the white bed. The ceiling was no more comfort to him than the paper had been; the image of her smile engraved in his head too clearly to ever forget. He felt his body jerk at the memory of her smile, the way her eyes glowed when she looked at him. She died fighting, the silver haired man thought to himself as his body began to ache. I cant keep this up, Sakura, I cant. He covered his eyes with his arm, enjoying the darkness as his thoughts darkened along with him, Without you everything seems like a chore. You changed everything.

The soft click of a pair of heels was the only thing that Kakashi could hear, a soft sigh escaping his lips. "What do you need this time?" He growled out quietly as he lifted his heavy hand; checking to make sure his mask was adjusted correctly.

The soft clicking stopped as the sound of his voice, "I apologize, Kakashi-san," the older woman muttered softly, bowing even though his eyes were closed. "I came to check on you," she whispered as a soft blush painted over her face. Kakashi slowly peeled his eyes open, blinded momentarily by the white walls. He stared at the woman blankly, knowing full well the blush was because of him. Whispers of the woman's infatuation with the Copy Ninja had reached Kakashi's ears over his trips to the hospital over the past months; yet he never spent more than a moment on her.

His eyes slowly opened as he turned to the window, "You don't have to, I'll be leaving soon." His tone was dull, coming off as a quiet snap to the woman who stood at his bedside. "Now, please stop wasting my time and tell me why you're here."

The woman flinched, her eyes falling to the charts in her hand, "Naruto-kun will be visiting while Hyuuga-san does another healing on your shoulder," Her voice was quiet, timid as she read off the chart; knowing full well he wasn't listening. Without his knowledge she turned and walked towards the door, whispering softly, "I'll leave the door unlocked so you can sneak out."

He gave a heavy sigh, giving the woman credit for knowing that he would leave before her next visit. Closing his eyes, Kakashi welcomed the darkness of his mind. I've been on 38 missions since the funeral…

The silver haired man wondered aimlessly around the village, enjoying the rolling clouds as they slowly took over the sky. He had grown fond of the ever present rain that plagued Konoha the past few nights. It made him feel as at peace as he could without Sakura at his side. "Oi, Kakashi!" Genma's voice rang out as Kakashi walked past a group of men. Genma pried his way out of the crowd, a huge grin on his face, "I saw a woman going into your apartment earlier, I see you're finally getting out that frustration!" He winked, the drunken blush painting his cheeks.

Kakashi slowed his stride, his brow raising to look at the man in pure confusion. "A woman?" He asked quietly; trying not to sound as confused as he truly was.

Genma nodded quickly, his grin spreading, "You sly dog, not even letting me know." He looked suddenly surprised, "Wait, its late, shouldn't you be with her?"

Kakashi nodded, "Yeah, I should be going," he muttered softly as he walked off; not giving the man a second glance. A woman at my apartment? He thought to himself as he thought of the women in his life, No one that Genma wouldn't recognize; even in a drunken state.

Even though Genma had mentioned seeing someone at his apartment, Kakashi wondered around for hours; his lethargic being not really caring whatever a woman was doing within his apartment. As the clouds began to darken, the smell of rain lingered in the air. Right on cue, he chuckled bitterly to himself as a small drop of rain landed on the tip of his nose.

As he reached his apartment door, he froze; eyes wide in shock. The door was cracked open, a few drops of blood along the handle. His eyes sharpened, I might not be strong enough to handle this, he thought as he slowly and silently pushed past the door frame. Unfortunately, the smell of blood only intensified as he walked into the house. Petite boot marks were scattered over the entrance, Smaller than mine, but any transformation would do that. His eyes scanned out to the world outside; clouds beginning to clear as a full moon struggled to make it's presence known.

Noticing the pair of general shinobi boots tossed aside, Kakashi realized that his intruder had made their way to his to his bedroom. That door was open as well, causing Kakashi's brow to frown in confusion. A sloppy shinobi, that's not normal.

As he pushed the door open, quickly freezing in his steps. His eyes scanned the figure that was under his sheets. The moonlight that gleamed through the windows illuminated pastel hair against his grey sheets, porcelain skin glowing under the light. No

His eyes tore away from the figure, his heart beating against the bones of his chest; threatening to escape. The bed was in disarray, mud and blood scattered over the sheets as if they had struggled to make it into the bed. That cant be her, he thought to himself as he took slow steps closer to the woman. She's asleep, he thought to himself as his eyes widened quickly lifting his headband to scan the room correctly; taking in the scene with his sharingan.

Her clothing was shredded, dirty and hardly recognizable. Pastel hair was longer, longer than he thought it would be in the months of absence; reaching down to the middle of her back. The crimson eye did nothing but enhance the scene, proving that woman in front of him was real. His heart stopped; the silence deafening as he watched her body shift as she continued her sleepy breathing. New scars covered the body, or what he could see of it, fresh and barely healed with her normal finesse.

Before he knew it, he was standing beside the bed, unable to breathe as he memorized the body beneath the sheets. "Sakura," he whispered softly as his hand reached out for her. His voice was shaking, his hand trembling as if he was seizing in front of her.

The woman stirred, pressing her nose against the fabric that was clenched within her hands. Kakashi looked for a moment, how had he missed her holding something? His grey eye softened as he realized it was one of his shirts, her nose pressed deep within the fabric so that every breath consumed her with his scent. Without a sound, emerald eyes were fluttering open, staring at him through a haze. "Hey there," she whispered softly as her eyes slid shut once again.

His heart jumped into his throat, his eyes falling to the floor, "Prove it. Prove you're her." He growled quietly breaking the silence. His fists clenched white at his side. "Say anything," he snarled, his voice slowly losing his edge as he began, "anything to prove you're real."

The woman chuckled softly, almost bitterly, realizing that he didn't believe her. She reached up, her hands shaking from fatigue; pointing to his head. "You have a scar on the back of your head that you didnt let me heal," her voice was soft, barely auditable above the sound of KAkashi's heartbeat. "You hit your head when we were about to have sex, but you liked the memory so much that you decided to keep it."

His eyes widened, glistening bright in the moonlight as his mouth slowly dropped; unable to take his eyes off the woman. Not a single person knew of that scar, he had treasured it's meaning; his own personal secret of the nights they shared. Kakashi felt his heart stop, the heavy silence now becoming warm as her emerald eyes became clouded once again, "I'm so tired, I just wanted you, Kakashi-kun." Sakura's voice whimpered out, his name lingering on her lips as her body fell against the bed, her back resting against the soft mattress.

Kakashi's eyes sharpened, she hardly used the suffix with his name. Within the moment of doubt, Sakura's breathing changed. Why didn't I notice that until now? His mind scolded him darkly as he watched her breathing become heavy and labored, her lips gasping for air as perspiration glistened across her body. "You have a fever," he whispered softly as he moved closer.

Her eyes parted slightly, unable to fully open as she whimpered out, "I just wanted to be home," tears glistened in her eyes as she breathed out, "I couldn't fight anymore…"

Kakashi sat beside her on the bed, slowly running his fingers through her hair, "Let me take care of you tonight," he whispered quietly as his eyes softened. His posture hunched over, his breathing still lingering in his chest; caught unwilling to escape. The silver haired man gave her a bitter smile, trying with all he had for it to be real, only to get up and walk to the bathroom.

Running his fingers through his hair, Kakashi looked into the mirror. Even he could see the hope glimmering in his eyes. I'm a fool, he growled lightly to himself as he lazily maneuvered around the bathroom grabbing whatever medical supplies he subconsciously knew he needed. A terrible old fool. A sigh escaped his lips, a small smile tugging at each corner as a single thought lingered in his mind. One more night with her, just one. Even if it's all a lie.
