Hey guys! I know it's been a VERY long time, but I am going to slowly bring this back. I've had a lot happen to me since the last chapter was posted. Hopefully my writing has improved. Sorry that it's short, but it's better than nothing right? Anyways enjoy!

The morning was beautiful compared to the hellish night. Rai, Kimi, and Omi waited outside in the lobby for the doctor. They all stood silent as the ticks from the clock overhead echoed like a metronome.

"I'm tired of the silence. What in the Hell happened to Clay?" Kimiko spoke harshly.

Before Rai could utter a sound, the doctor walked through the door. The trio raced to him and waited to hear about their friend.

" I have good news and bad."

"Well. Out with it. Is he going to be okay?" Rai interrupted.

"Yes. He will physically be fine. His mental state is in rough condition. He is still asleep but you can go see him." The doctor finished.

"Go ahead Kimi. I know you wanna see him first." Rai spoke softly. He stared out the window trying to hide the pain he feels for Clay.

How did I let this happen? I'm their leader. I'm supposed to protect them. What the Hell is wrong with me?

"Rai? Are you coming with us?" Omi pondered. A long pause swept the room before the Wind Dragon spoke.

"You two go ahead. I'll be back there in a minute. Don't wanna crowd him, you know?"

Omi and Kimiko stayed for a second before turning to follow the doctor to Clay's room. Rai wanted to sit and stew in his thoughts. What would Clay think of him after what happened. The brunette could barely stomach the thought.

"Come on! Lets get out of here!" Dojo roared as his tail came across and hit Felipe, sending him flying into the wall.

Rai in a blurred confusion jumped up and grabbed Kimiko. He untied Omi once he put Kimiko on Dojo's back.

"Come on Clay! I need you to take a few steps and get to Dojo." Rai screamed.

The cowboy opened his eyes and tried as hard as he could to lift himself up, to no avail. He fell back down and shrieked in pain as his shoulder slammed against the concrete.

"Is THAT A FUCKING DRAGON?!" Eduardo yelled half in awe, half in fear.

"Forget the dragon, let's get out before the heat gets here." Felipe croaked. The three misfits fled and Rai tried his best to get Clay to Dojo. Once all four of them were on, Dojo launched himself into the air and away from the club.

"Hang on Clay! Were going to the nearest hospital!" Rai spoke as he held the cowboy's hand, making sure he didnt lose consciousness for fall.

"Rai. Clay want's to see you." Kimiko placed her hand on his shoulder. Her touch startled him out of his daydream, but he smiled to reassure her and followed behind. The room was dark and the rthymic pings on the heart monitor echoed. Omi was sitting in a chair opposite of the cowboy. Clay's eyes were barely open and his breaths were heavy.

"Can I... talk to Rai alone?" Clay managed to utter out. The others nodded and left the room. Rai hesitantly walked to the blonde's side and sat down on another chair. The brunette saw the bruising on Clays face and down his neck. The images of the scene played in the back of his mind as he tried to focus on what Clay was saying.

"Rai? Do you hear me?"

"I'm sorry Clay, what did you say?" Rai sheepishly spoke.

"I'm gonna be fine Rai. No reason to worry about me. Yeah im hurting more than a fox in a bear trap, but I'll manage." Clay chuckled half heartedly after his comment. Rai sort of smiled; it's nice to see Clay act like the same rough-neck cowboy.

"Is the other's okay? I blacked out after, well... you know..." Clay managed to squeek out.

"Yeah, they're fine. Kimiko was just knocked out and Omi was tied up. Dojo got us out of there before anything else happened." Rai said

"That's good ta hear. Damn my back is killing me." Clay said as he rubbed his lower back. Rai reached for an extra pillow, fluffed it up and handed it to the blonde.

"That should help some." The brazillian chuckled. Clay smiled and positioned it just right. The pillow put a small bit of pressure at his tail bone and supported the rest of his back.

"Filho precisamos conversar . Agora!" a voice said behind Rai. The brunette spun around to see his father towering in the doorway. Fear rushed over the Xiaolin warrior as the dark figure grabbed him by his shirt collar and dragged him out the door. Kimiko came in after they left and comforted Clay, who was upset that Rai's dad just pulled him out like that.

"Its okay Clay. His father is just angry with him. Once they talk, he will be ok." Raimundo's mom stated as she calmly walked in.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you. Do you need me to call your parents?" she asked.

"No ma'am. I'm okay. No need to call Daddy and sissy. I'll be alright." The cowboy fussed.

"Okay. if you need anything I'll be outside." The brazillian woman stated and kissed Clay's forehead before walking out the door.

"Pai! Please just let me explain!" Rai yelped as he ran around his dad's truck to avoid him.

"I can't believe you let that happen to your friend! I raised a protector, not a covarde that hides while his friends are in trouble!" His father yelled while taking off his belt.

"No Pai! Just listen to me! I couldn't stop them! They ambushed us and I couldn't get ahold of the situation! I couldn't help even if I tried!" He screamed as his father closed in on him and grabbed his arm hard enough to bruise.

"Who did this Filho? Was it those desgraçado kids who you used to hang out with?" He coughed as he gripped Rai's arm tighter.

"Deixe ele ir. Você está fazendo uma cena!" Rai's mother shouted as she walked out of the hospital. On-lookers stared as the situation disipated. Rai's father threw Rai down on the ground and walked to the driver's side of the truck. The man slammed the door and drove off as Rai's mother ran to his side.

"Im fine mãe. Just take me back inside. I don't like being stared at like a sideshow freak."

The two walked back inside as the sun began to heat up the roadway. Silence fell upon the street as life's usual buzz hummed through the air.

Let me know how ya'll think about this chapter. Again, sorry it's short.
