The next few weeks were filled with lots of tears and joy as Amy was finally released form the hospital. She was placed on bedrest for the next three weeks so she could recover and let her stress levels decrease. She was not in too much pain, but it was still not the greatest experience of her life. She leaned on Jake and he leaned on her. They worked together to deal with their loss and Amy's bedrest schedule and Jake working. He was working shorter days and he didn't even bother to go in on the weekend.
"Babe, can you help me please?" Amy called from the bathtub.
"Of course, I'm coming Ames." Jake called and helped her out of the tub before wrapping her in a soft towel.
"My stitches are starting to fall out." Amy said as he helped her dry off and apply the antibiotic ointment to help with the healing process.
"That's good, right?" Jake asked as he held out her sweats out for her to step in. She nodded and put her hands on his shoulders and slowly stepped into them. She sat on the edge of the tub and pulled her shirt over her head.
"Yeah. It means that its healing right." Amy replied and he helped her over to the bed and made sure she was comfortable.
"Do you need anything sweetheart?" Jake asked as he sat next to her and smiled.
"Can you just lay down with me?" She asked and he immediately walked around to his side of the bed and climbed in, gently pulling her into his arms.
"Better?" He asked as he played with her hair.
"Much." She smiled and soon fell asleep. He watched her sleep peacefully and continued to stroke her hair. He knew the recovery process paired with her pregnancy was extremely tiring for her.
Jake laid with Amy for a while before getting an idea. He went down to the Polish place Amy loved and got her some perogies, potato pancakes, and a cup of hot chocolate. He knew that it was the little things that did the most. He had learned that from his relationship with Amy. When he walked back into the apartment, he found Amy sitting on the couch and smiled.
"Hey beautiful. I brought you some perogies and potato pancakes with a side of hot chocolate." He said as he kissed her forehead.
"You're the best. Thank you, babe." Amy replied and he gave her the food before setting the hot chocolate on the side table.
"Anything for you angel." He sat next to her and turned on the tv. They settled on Comedy Central and leaned against each other. Jake consistently managed to glance at her every five minutes and make sure she was okay. Amy noticed it and it while it slightly annoyed her, she understood why he was doing it and just pretended not to notice. As she finished eating, she leaned more heavily into him and fell asleep quickly. He smiled and rubbed small, gentle circles on her back.
It was getting late and Jake decided to carry Amy to bed and put her into pajamas. He changed her into her favorite pajamas and changed into his and then tucked them both in and set the alarm so he could get up for work the next day. Amy slept peacefully and woke up with Jake and they went to a nearby diner for breakfast before Jake dropped Amy back off at home before going into work.
Jake sat at his desk, sipping his orange soda, and typing up his paperwork. He managed to close a few simple cases and filed those where they belonged. He went to lunch with Rosa and Charles and they came back to Amy sitting next to Jake's desk.
"Ames, are you okay?" Jake asked as he scrambled over to her.
"I'm so bored. I know I come back tomorrow, but it's so boring Jake. So, I called a cab and came here. I have been sitting since I got here. Terry asked if it might help if I could spend some time with Sharon and the girls and I obviously said yes, she's on her way here, even though I could have gotten another cab over there." Amy replied before they were ambushed with hugs by Cagney, Lacey, and Ava.
"Hey girls!" Jake smiled and hugged each of them.
"Hey uncle Jake!" They replied and hugged him and then Amy. They of course made their way around the bullpen picking up sweets and hugs. They even managed to get hugs from Captain Holt. Sharon stopped by and talked to Terry for a minute before making her way to Jake and Amy.
"Hey Sharon, thanks for doing this." Amy said as she rubbed her barely-there bump.
"No problem, it's always fun to talk to another adult, rather than three mini-adults. Who are completely full of sass and sarcasm." Sharon laughed and hugged Jake before catching up to the girls and rounding them up, to leave with her and Amy.
"Hey Ames, have fun, but don't over do it, babe." Jake said as he kissed her goodbye and she nodded.
"I know, I'll be okay, if something happens one of us will call you. Just pick me up after you're done, and we can get takeout or something." He nodded and watched her leave with Sharon and the girls. Jake continued to finish up some more paperwork before heading over to Terry's to pick up Amy. He walked in with Terry who left just before he did and followed the chatter to the living room.
"Hey ladies. Is there time for an uncle Jake hug?" The girls all piled on top of him and he smiled. Amy loved watching him with them, she could not wait to see him with their child in just six and a half months.
"Hey babe." Amy said standing over top of them and smiling.
"Hey Ames." Jake smiled and sat up. Soon the girls noticed Terry was home and chased after him, and Jake smiled and kissed her softly.
"You ready?" Amy asked and Jake nodded.
"Yeah, have you decided what you want for dinner tonight?" Jake asked he helped her get her things and they said goodbye to Terry and Sharon.
"Korean barbeque?" Amy suggested and Jake nodded.
"Yeah sounds good." He said as he opened her door for her to climb in. They went to their favorite Korean place and decided to eat in the restaurant and then made their way home. They laid in bed, talking and cuddling, and soon falling asleep.
