So Enjoy! ;)

Ch. 4 My Tears Are Becoming A Sea

"Are the dead truly gone if you've never forgotten them, and you carry a piece of their life within you like a stubborn shadow"

Mercedes:

My door was burst open and I looked up to see Zion making his way to me with Tristan fast on his heels. I stopped looking over the last map Jack had given me and stared awed at the younger Lucas for his fast recovery. I rose my hand immediately when I saw Tristan open his mouth to apologize on Zion's behalf and the elf quickly kept quiet. I shooed him away and watched in amusement as Zion immediately made it to my side.

"We can't kill him", he said immediately and I just stared. "He has to be possessed, my brother would never just attack an innocent, plus the attacks are almost vampire-like we're shifters! We have magic blood but we don't crave it!", he exclaimed and I snorted before closing the map shut.

"Zion, I know that. We're trying to apprehend him, not kill him. Jack is my friend-", I trailed off as a call from another realm reached me. I scrunched up my nose in confusion and tried to feel the magical signature of the person trying to summon me but suddenly I was slipping through time and space itself. I blinked my eyes and noted I was on a couch, a smug looking Quinn sat across from me.

Oh... I didn't realize her magic was just as advanced as her counterpart

"Hey you", I sent my old pal a grin before actually taking in my surroundings to see I was at the Lopez-Pierce residence. "Uh...", my observations went to halt in my confusion. I began to question as to why I was here but was silenced by Santana's brisk entrance.

"Did you summon her or wha- Mercedes! Thank GOD! We need your help", she exclaimed and I rose an eyebrow. The short Latina looked very stressed and her eyes worn.

"With what?", I asked concerned and before she could speak; Puck, Artie, and Tori also walked into the living area with grim expressions. My concern rose higher. Where was Brittany? Where was Roman!?

As if she read my mind, Santana answered.

"Roman has been kidnapped", she spoke with a hollow expression and I blanched.

WHAT!?

"By Alma", Artie growled and Santana narrowed her eyes.

"We can't be sure of-"

"It WAS her", he told Santana firmly and I watched as their age old, long since squashed rivalry show its head by how his stance changed to offense but Santana decided to be the bigger person and concede.

Oh how the times have changed...

"Alma's apparently back and she has my son", Santana sighed and a cold spike of dread drove into my chest.

"...BUT HOW!? SHE'S-"

"Very much alive and is holding a massive grudge... believe me, she shoved a three foot tube of nitrogen down my throat", he sniped grumpily and my mouth fell open.

Oh Jesus!

"But she's not herself you know? She's using like some unwilling guy", Tori piped up and I frowned. The thought of Jack's supposed crimes flashing to the forefront of my mind but I quickly squash the thought.

It was impossible... I mean yes he has magical properties but he was through and through a shifter, he couldn't possibly know any knowledge on traveling realms, neither could Alma so far as I'm concerned. I need more info.

"What do you mean? Explain everything", I question and Tori struggles to explain what happened that night.

"We all went out, Artie stayed behind to watch Roman because besides you, he sees the little runt the least", she tapers off at the sorrowful expression Santana adorns. "-Anyway we were out having fun...", she paused before shaking her head. "And there was a girl who... I just... I... I freaked out while there and I said some mean things I didn't mean, I'm sorry Santana, I really am", she stopped and the Latina sent her a reassuring smile. Tori cleared her throat and continuing with her story. "...Well after snapping at Santana, I ran off back here and everything was dark. It was really quiet and I was in my head too much to realize just how quiet it was until I stumbled over something. I thought it was a toy but as my eyes adjusted to the dark I saw it was Artie", she stated and I looked to the hothead supernatural. He wore a scowl on his face as he remembered his attack.

"Yeah I had just gotten R-man to bed and I was dozing off when some hooded guy appeared out of some portal looking thing. I aimed to get into a fighting position but he was fast, faster than any supernatural I had ever seen since the war with the elders...", he admitted and everyone all wore pained expression. Artie cleared his throat and continued his tale. "...He came dead at me with some cylinder, that he promptly shoved down my mouth", he sneered in self-loathing. "I wasn't scared or anything, I knew I couldn't die from just that so I focused all my energy on combusting so I could take him out with my flames but it was like he knew what I was up to immediately. He clamped his hand around my throat so hard my windpipe crushed with the tube inside it. From there it was like a frozen hell. It felt like ice in liquid form was trailing down my esophagus and as everything within me began to freeze quicker than Elsa, I knew what it was in the tube. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I staggered to my knees and before I could will myself to heal, I felt a blow to my head", he cleared up his side so Tori continued.

"Yeah so I found Artie's half frozen body laid out and noted with relief that he was still breathing, and was slowly healing. Fearing for Roman, I went to his room and found the hooded guy looking over the little guy as he slept. I tackled him and wrestled him under me, but he didn't fight me. His eyes were blue and terribly haunted. He kept begging me to help him stop her and before I could wonder what he was on about, it's like he shifted and he became extremely lethal", Tori explained with a cross of her arms. "He engaged me after calling me a filthy half breed. He also claimed Roman to be from his bloodline, even addressed Santana as his blood traitor granddaughter. He sounded just like an Elder so I got scared and tried to kill him but right when I could have dealt the final blow, Roman begged me to stop. He said that he could sense two auras within the man at my feet and the way the man slumped and begged for his life seconds later, proved Roman's observation right. He asked me to spare him because he had a brother named Zeke, Zane..."

Shit!

My eyes hardened as I corrected Tori. "Zion", I stated cautiously and Tori looked at me perplexed.

"Yes! How did you..."

I stood abruptly and began to pace.

"Mercedes what is it? What's up!?", everyone queried and I let out a frustrated growl.

"We have a big problem", I stated gravely and everyone shot me a look.

(In Alternate World...)

Roman:

I don't know if I was sleeping but a sharp pain woke me up. My head felt like someone was using it as a drum set and it hurt so bad. It was almost like the one time Tori tripped me and I hit the corner of the bed. Papi was so pissed...

The drums kept pounding in my head, and it hurt so much that I could barely open my eyes so I cried out and called for my mami but she didn't appear.

"Mami!", I called brokenly again but there was nothing.

I called for mom, Tori, Artie, auntie Quinn or Rachel but no one came. My bottom lip trembled as tears welled up in my eyes, I knew I was supposed to be a big boy but my head hurt. I just wanted both my mom's kisses, my papi's purring, or Tori's hugs. She always hugged me so tight.

Mami!

I called for her mentally and knew she'd come racing over here to wherever I was, to help but again nothing happened. No one came to me and that's when my tears fell, I didn't feel like a big boy anymore. I couldn't help my sobs that escaped from me as I cried like a baby. My mami promised no matter how far I got she'd always find me. Where was she!?

I felt an aura spike and I whimpered.

"Oh stop your crying it will be alright, just... Just take my hand and hold it tight", a hoarse voice sounded from afar and I struggled to open my eyes through the pain. "...I will protect you from all around you... I will be there don't you cry", the voice wheezed out before I heard a deep ragged breaths and chains move. It was quiet again and I desperately strained my ears to hear any other sound from the mysterious figure in the room with me.

"Hello?", I called out and a vicious growl greeted me. I flinched and curled into myself, absolutely terrified. That growl wasn't friendly.

Mami! Mami! Mami!

I screamed so hard in my head, I nearly missed the mumbled apology from the other person in the room but I was just too scared. I just rocked back and forth and concentrated on calling someone to find me. I didn't want to be here. I wanted to go home.

I WANT TO GO HOME!

Santana:

"Okay let me just make sure I'm understanding everything here", I piped in and the room went silent. Mercedes stared at me intently and nodded for me to start. I took a breath and held out a finger. "One: Alma is back", I asked and everyone agreed. "Since with all the statements and actions the assailant did we can infer that it was in fact her who kidnapped my son", I clarified and again everyone agreed.

Hmm... But how?

Who gives damn moron our son is missing!

Snix...

"Okay its settled I'm going to murder that wretched woman and make sure she stays dead", Snix's voice filtered through me angrily and I ignored how everyone flinched at my usual dormant dark aura flaring. A hand fell on my shoulder and I clenched my teeth together to calm Snix down. I took a much needed breath, nodded at Tori's calming presence and continued with my observations.

We'll find him Snix, we can get angry when we see that evil wretch!

I closed my eyes and tried to recall everything. "As I was saying... My second point; we all have come to the conclusion that Alma is using a unwilling boys body to do her bidding", I stated and again everyone agreed. "We also, with your help", I gestured to Mercedes with a flick of my wrist. "...have figured that the unknown possessed person is ninety-nine percent likely to be a young emissary from your secret world", I concluded and everyone agreed again until Mercedes piped up.

"A world that only I can gain access too; which does not help because there's certain things I cannot interfere in, being as I'm the embodiment of balance for all realms. Bringing you guys over there is the epitome of imbalance... God I'm useless!", Mercedes growled frustratingly but it was directed more at herself than anything.

"Not exactly", Quinn cut in suddenly and we all turned to her. She had been quiet the whole discussion. "If there's one thing I learned in my long life, its that if there's a will there's a way", she stated stubbornly. "We just need to try and understand everything and maybe then we'll find an answer", she said sagely.

"Well enlighten us Mercedes, nothing can be harder then medical school", Puck grumbled.

Mercedes looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking. "Its complicated... Time and space is a tricky thing...", she admitted. "...but I'll try my best to tell you as much as I can", she stated before another thoughtful expression crossed her face. "...You see, since the future is only potential and not actual, it is often conceived that more than one future may exist simultaneously", she began and we all listened intently.

Just hold on Roman we're coming

Mercedes explanation on how the universe worked spun everyone's head. After awhile of having our pretty little heads purely mind-fucked, Mercedes just decided to go. She, in her cryptic way said she knew of someone who could help us crossover to her realm without upsetting the balance of anything and that's all I could ever ask for. I was this much closer to finding my son and bringing him home.

Find ducky, she's been under all day

I looked out pass the sliding glass doors to see our backyard. My eyes stared intently at the little lake Brittany had entered ever since this morning and hadn't returned since. My face turned morose as I thought of how my blonde broke down the second Tori apologized to her for letting our son get taken.

I don't know what to say Snix, you were always better with words than me

I stared forlornly at the lake.

Santana, I'm part of you. You can do this, go and talk to your wife

He sounded partly exasperated and stern. I could just picture him with his arms crossed so I took a hint. I excused myself from my brooding friends, opened the sliding door and made my way outside. I ignored the nights chilly air and the goosebumps raising on my skin. I walked up to the lake and crouched in front of it. I expanded out my senses, letting my enhanced powers pick up all and everything around me. In just seconds, I felt Brittany's aura. I saw the blue color of it and knew she was aware of me too.

I put my hand in the water, leaving my hand extended and waited. Nothing happened for awhile but I kept my ground because I'd always wait for Brittany.

Good girl...

Shut it Maximus!

Okay mum

I sent him an image of me rolling my eyes and as I aimed to say something smart-alecy, the feeling of a wave brushing against my immersed hand made me focus though. Not even seconds later, Brittany's head emerged from the flow of water, her back was to me as she spoke.

"Go inside baby, I can't... I... I'm not coming in tonight", she sounded so broken, my heart clenched.

"Brittany...", I reached out for her but she took liquid shape again and seeped back into the lake. I slowly brought back my outstretched hand, swallowing down the bitter taste of rejection before sitting back on the grass. "I'll be here when you're ready", I mumbled and wait I did.

But she never came out.

(In Alternate World...)

Lucy:

"Gage", I call the monk who scribbles the universe's secrets.

His head turns to me, his eyes are kind and a fond smile is on his lips. I smile back, enamored by the teen but become serious as I wave the book I was reading in my hand. He cants his head in a signal for me to approach and I grin as I stride over to him.

"This book is most intriguing", I start and he takes one look at the cover before nodding his head in acknowledgment.

"What is it you wish to know Lucy", he says with a knowing twinkle in his eyes that I've always adored.

Knowledge was an attractive thing...

"Do you believe that in every life no matter the consequences, your fate is laid out", I ask finally and the boy stops his writing to finally give me his full attention. He rubs his chin as he thinks for a moment.

"Fate is inevitable Lucy. But... You always have a choice in which way that fate occurs", he says evenly and I groan.

"That is a contradiction", I say with a pout; wishing just for once, one of the elected book keepers would be straight with me. He looks to me with mirth in his eyes and eventually laughs at my facial expression as my pout deepens.

Alma did say the book keepers were cheeky little monks. Ugh to think I've spent the last two hundred years protecting his bloodline and this library.

I send Gage a scowl and he simply reaches forward and smooths out the frown lines on my forehead. I want to stay mad but the way the boy beams at me, I can't. It's impossible. Damn it!

He focuses back onto his paperwork once I'm no longer making faces. He picks up his quill with his left hand and rests his elbow on the table and lays his chin against his closed fist in contemplation.

"Life is a contradiction Lucy. Fate is set in stone but even stone can be broken and made into something different", he says sagely before going back to scribbling on his parchment.

He doesn't say anymore, I look at him for moments more before nodding. I think I get it...

I leave the inner sanction of the monk's library and head out of the temple to think more. I thumb through the pages of the book of twin souls absentmindedly when my wards alert me to a presence. The magic signature is familiar, it feels like the world itself.

Huh...

The sound of wind and buzzing bees filters my ears and it takes less than a second for me to deduce just who has come to see. With wide eyes I avert my gaze to the ground and bow as the buzzing sound of bees becomes louder. I anxiously await for anything as I look at the ground beneath me.

"There's no need for you to bow to me", the raspy voice speaks and I look at the Sidhe of our realm.

I'd never seen her in person; Mercedes Jones, our sovereign. The caring sidhe that all supernaturals raved about but I couldn't blame anyone really. They were right to praise this woman. She was as beautiful as all the visiting elves recalled and just as mysterious and majestic too. I don't know how long I knelt there staring at her before she seemed to notice I wouldn't move without her permission. With a small flick of her wrist, she signaled for me to stand and again I bowed my head slightly in a practiced method. I'd been around a few royals back in my day.

I stand upright with her blessing and glance up curiously to the woman who is staring at me familiarly. I don't know why but I find myself feeling an immense amount of trust in her, I wonder if it is because her power demands it or something else entirely.

She eyes me more intensely as I stand before her but eventually whatever she was looking for she finds. Out of the of the corner of my eye, I see her reaching for her back pocket. She pulls out a pendant that she puts on her neck and I'm more than a little perplexed by not only her necklace but the impromptu visit. I feel unprepared and wary, especially since she hasn't spoken a word yet but as I open my mouth to speak, I noticed my surroundings are changing. Within a blink of an eye, we're both seated in an office that looks to be hers by the grandeur of the interior designs. I look around alarmed at her ease with transporting my form across the lands. I had long ago placed wards on myself to keep people from summoning me or utilizing my soul.

Mercedes looks to be both amused and smug at my blatant shock and before I could gawk anymore, she is clapping her hands to get us focused.

"Lucy Fabray... Yes?", she says with confidence and something else. I don't dare speak. The way she says my name makes me feel as if her words were rhetorical, as if she knows me inside and out so I nod instead.

"I will cut to the chase", she says now entirely serious. "It is not a known thing from beyond my subjects but I am a half breed. This realm is not my first home", she explains and I'm confused.

Why tell me of all people this...

"I'm sorry but what do you need from me exactly", I ask candidly. Something tells me she won't destroy me for it.

She laughs loudly before sending me a grin. "Different in appearance but just as the same ol Quinn I know", she states wistfully.

Quinn?

"I live in a realm just like our own here, where everything parallels this. It seems that an old nemesis from there has crossed into this world through some sort of soul transfer or possession of the most wickedest kind, do you...", and as she tries to continue, I respectfully cut her off.

"Seeing that it's a nemesis as you say, you're likely dealing with a Kanaima spell... Especially if your enemy has latched onto another to do her bidding... but it is usually a desperate measure", I say more to myself as I think. "A Kanaima spell has little to no limits, but the host could temporarily break free of its possession but then again the host could also totally lose themselves to the vengeful soul utilizing their body", I explain and she sends me a dire look.

"Which brings me to my problem. With all the power I have, I am still the epitome of Balance Lucy...

I can travel through the realms and cross over to any dimension without causing a rift but for this delicate matter, if I intervene personally, chaos will plague these lands", she says with a frustrated look before she sets her sights onto me. "...This is why I need you. If I can't personally solve this issue I can send some... Frie...Warriors from my original realm in my place. They've dealt with this enemy's treachery and knows it's weaknesses but I need to know how to cross their souls over to this side to lesser extreme", she states strongly and I shake my head.

"I beg your pardon, but doing something as crazy as soul transference between worlds will always be extreme your majesty. No matter what spell I find, there runs a high risk that the souls collected will not make it back home. Magic always comes with a price", I warned.

"If we do nothing our world here will be lost", she speaks gravely. "I've seen first hand what this enemy is capable of if underestimated. This enemy is not to be trifled with, it will lay waste to all whether guilty or innocent in its fury", she states and I sigh.

"I have a spell in mind, whoever you wish to bring here would have to have a kindred spirit here to latch onto once crossing over or else their soul would wander", I explained again and the Sidhe nodded her head. "But. Even if their soul found a kindred spirit, there is no way of knowing without causing imbalance; what age, form, or even species their souls would inhabit", I say seriously. Because it is a big deal!

"That is for them to decide", she spoke with a shrug and my eyes widened. "Give it to me", she ordered and all I could do was bow my head.

May these brave souls have safe passage in their journey.

"As you wish", I concede as I snap my fingers and a vial lay in my palm. I hand it to over to her with a serious look.

"With this they'll merge with an Kindred spirit, this will keep the balance because they'll become one in the same with their host, but they must take caution and not lose themselves. Their minds must stay strong and remember who they truly are or they'll be lost", I directed and she nodded as she looked at the pearlescent liquid.

AN: I had to forcibly remove my hand from my keyboard. Oh! I just can't wait to introduce this alternate world and the characters, I'm so psyched! I'll need for everyone to sign a permission slip for the feels trip(yeah you read right, feels trip but it will be a good feels trip) I'll be taking you on :D so until next time, ciao
