The Re-meeting

The creature looked at the trio, growling.

'Her-Her-Hermione? Wh-wh-what is that?' Ron stammered.

'It looks like a werewolf to me.' Hermione said rather calmly.

'Then could it be Professor Lupin?' Ron asked.

Totally forgetting that it wasn't a full moon yet Ron just ran up to him and gave the dog a big hug.

The dog growled more than ever. But tried really hard not to hurt Ron and struggled to try and free them, in the end they gave up and bit Ron hard on the neck, leaving it bleeding and with tooth marks.

'Ow! What the bloody hell was THAT for?' Ron asked running back to Harry and Hermione clenching his bleeding neck at the same time.

'Well, why were you hugging her at the first place?' a mysterious but familiar voice asked.

'Professor Lupin! What-I-I-I don't understand! Aren't you... did you just say that it...it's a she?' Ron asked fully confused.

'No I'm not Serian,' He chuckled a bit, 'Serian is Ateva's pet Racksal, mind you; she may look different than other Racksals.'

'So Professor...what you're meaning to say is...this is Ateva?' Hermione asked Lupin pointing at the motionless body lying on the bed.

Lupin widened his eyes a little bit and silently walked over to the bed.

'Well is she, professor?' Harry asked, his eyes never leaving Lupin's.

'Yes.' That was the mere answer that was given.

He turned back and looked at Serian.

'My, my. Why Serian, you surly grew a fair bit haven't you?' He asked the Racksal.

'Um...Professor, how exactly do you know Serian?' Hermione asked again.

'I think it would be better if I explained the whole thing.' He said and began before any of them had the chance to object.

'Serian, is as old as you all, they live as long as humans, and can run faster than the speed of light, and in so doing defies some…logic that was said in the Muggle world as they are still intact and… as well as their passengers at the end of the trip, so that may also be the Racksal's given ability rather that the logic behind it. Ateva received Serian on her birthday. They are exactly the same age. Serian never left Ateva's side, ever. Unless she is in class or other activities. When Ateva left the school to live in the Forbidden Forest, I was her teacher, because I can understand Raseltongue because of how I can transform into a werewolf. Ateva was born with the gift to understand Raseltongue and say it.' He stopped.

'Is that all?' Hermione asked, a bit suspiciously.

'All I can tell you, yes.' He turned to Ateva, 'You have to ask Ateva if she allows you to go into her past.' He turned back to the others.

Harry's memories of their first and fourth year came flooding back to him.

$$$$FLASHBACK$$$$

HARRY'S POV

I woke up tonight, a bit to early for breakfast, mouth so dry it felt like my tongue was going to fall out of my mouth. So I decided to sneak to the Great Hall for a glass of water. My stomach grumbled, I had skipped a heap of meals to try and finish the homework our teachers gave us, and even stayed up a few nights. Blame Snape for the whole damned thing…For crying out loud, he's making us do…like 15 rolls of parchment on one herb! Is that even possible! Well, ok, so Hermione's already gone through 7 rolls just from the top of her head but she doesn't count.

I walked down from our dorm as quiet as I could, man since last time, Professor McGonagall took 150 points off because we were in Hagrids' cabin. I swear right now all I really want to do (apart from eating of course, that's my first priority right now…) would be to wring Malfoy's neck till it breaks, that bastard.

Seems like it's been hours since I got up, but FINALLY I reach the Common room, that's when I heard voices. I had no idea what they meant. They weren't English and that was all I could work out, not a very bright student I know…but at least I worked out it hasn't got anything related to English either, so there.

When I finally reached the foot of the stairs I saw a girl around my age sitting in the corner of a large window with tears silently running down her cheeks and was rubbing a sort of breed dog on the chin. The dog was extremely white but as large as a small sized tiger. The girl was talking to her dog in that language I didn't get.

I ignored her and made my way to the Great Hall; I listened a few times and was almost caught running in the corridors after curfew, Percy was one hard-working guy I'll say, I almost ran into him like…18 times. Maybe they'll make a game out of this. "Get as far away as you can from those pesky prefects." Well, makes sense.

By the time I got back, I still saw the girl, her dog was lying asleep by the fireplace, and she remained in the corner of the window with her head between her legs while her arms were around her folded knees.

I saw her body shake, I was quite cold tonight and the fireplace for some reason didn't seem to keep the heat in at all. I went over to a couch where there was a spare blanket. I draped it on her, but she's pretty sharp, as soon as the blanket made contact with her, she sprung up and jumped into a…fighting stance?

Her eyes stared at mine…what the hell? Is it possible now to actually get royal blue eyes? Ha, it can't fool me, I know colours when I see them (most of the time anyway,). It was not black, it was royal blue, I could just tell.

I don't know if it was the amusement or what, but I was starving! My stomach involuntarily grumbled loudly, I hope I didn't wake anyone up, I don't know what they'll do to me if I did…Death, I think I'm coming early.

She stared at me, I laughed nervously, hoping she won't just laugh her head off in my face, I don't like that, well…not at 3 in the morning anyway. I don't know what I was expecting, but absolutely NOT what she gave me. She smiled a sweet, innocent smile like nothing happened and simply asked, 'You hungry?' It wasn't an English ascent. It was almost Aussie, but… no I don't know why, but I just can't put a finger on her accent at all…

I felt the rush of blood onto my face. I nodded an embarrassed yes.

She gave me a small smile and indicated for me to sit down. I did as she gestured, then she pointed at me and said, 'You stay.'

I was really tired so I had no idea what she did next. I just went into a deep sleep.

When I woke up, there was this really good smell, when I opened my eyes I saw a pair of deep royal blue eyes. They moved back a bit and showed a grin from the girl. She literally pushed a plate of delicious smelling food into my face.

She pulled it back and sat it down onto the carpet, as well as herself. She seemed to say a silent Christian kind of prayer, then without a second thought, she started munching down the food on the other plate.

I didn't know what to do, is she TRYING to tempt me or something? Because it was WORKING! I didn't dare to eat the food in front of me because I just wasn't sure…

Since I was thinking about food again, my stomach did the usual drill when I'm hungry and grumbled again. When I looked back at her, she was smiling!

'Eat. Food no poisoned, trust.' She placed a hand over her heart, 'Elf make food just for you.' She said, trying to make SOME sense.

'Thanks.' I said awkwardly, and sat down and begun to eat. It seemed like hours before we finished the food. Every now and again she would throw some pieces of meat to the direction to her dog, which ate it up straight away.

In the end I wasn't too full, but not that empty either.

'Where did the food come from?' I asked in the conclusion of the rather amazing feast.

She simply smiled and stood up with the empty plate in one hand, and motioned for me to follow.

She whispered something into her dog's ear. Although it was sleeping already, it's ears twitched and started to stand up again, stretching it self and yawning as well.

It walked around for a bit before standing in one spot again, that's when she sat on its' back. She placed a hand on the spare spot of the dog and used her eyes to tell me to take a seat.

She pulled her hands over to mine, and said, 'Hold tight. Or off you fall.' She said, I didn't know where to put them, so she just wrapped them around her waist.

Oh my God oh my God this is not happening. I kept telling myself that. I was already head over heels for Cho so I was really blind about other girls (that's why I didn't know that Ginny liked me). I was about to tell her that I don't think she should be doing this,

'Uh... I don't think-'

but I was totally cut off when I felt like we were traveling at a thousand miles an hour. I felt as if I was slipping off the dog's back. So I held onto her waist even more firmly. Now I understood why she wrapped my arms around her waist. So I don't fall. How thoughtful of her…

I held tighter as we seemed to be traveling even faster. I was freaked. Then we came to a sudden stop. Ow… my back. When I let her go, she seemed to be choking a bit, because I held on too tight. Whoops…

'Sorry.' I muttered.

She held onto her waist in pain, and rubbed it over and over again. I hope I didn't leave a mark. I feel so ashamed of myself…

'Well, it's worse when get cursed by Voldemort. You might not have felt that much of the pain though, of course.' She said before suddenly she turned her face to the main corridor.

'What do you-' I began to ask before my mouth was slapped shut. It was the girl that did this.

Before I noticed she pushed me onto the wall, I had no idea what was going on, so I decided to ask her later. That's when I found the reason why, I heard the most dreaded voice possible to hear.

Snape. That should explain everything.

'Who is it? I know you're here. Come out here.' Snape demanded.

As Snape moved closer, I struggle a little, trying to protest. She turned around to face me, and I looked deeply into her royal blue eyes, while she had a poisoning look on her face and placed a finger from her other hand on her mouth.

She placed her hand onto the wall again, when I finally noticed that I was trapped in the corner of the wall, she wasn't looking at me and I did nothing. I was only waiting for Snape to find us there, and I'll probably get another detention again. I thought that it was just sitting in a room and a teacher shouts at you every once in a while, but it was Hell made on Earth. Naturally, no I don't like it.

As Snape came closer, I quickened my breath, and as she pushed herself closer to me, hiding her body more securely, I felt weird, it was as if I can't protect her and I felt much or less pathetic. I mean a girl was protecting me for crying out loud.

She released her hand from my mouth when I saw that Snape was extremely close I would've expected her to squeeze all the blood out of my face instead, thankfully he was looking the other way and the girl did something with that hand, and when I thought that Snape would look our way any second now.

That was when I heard something, it really wasn't meant to be pleasant, but at that moment it was like music to my ears. There was a growling noise, also known as a diversion.

Snape snapped his head around, 'Ah, so it was you was it?' He said before he turned to the dog and started to follow it.

I guess when the door closed was when the girl thought it was safe. And released me from my prison. She let out a great sigh and took a firm grip on my wrist. She led me over to the statue. To my astonishment I found that there was a port hole right behind the statue.

She led me into it, and we walked for about 3 minutes when I saw a glimpse of light shining out, we were walking right for it when suddenly she turned to the left, leading away from the light.

'Aren't we going there?' I pointed to the light we were supposed to be headed. She sighed and I walked in front this time. When we reached it, I found out to the absolute maximum of my revulsion, that there was an uh...couple there, sitting on a couch, turned around, but obviously 'doing something' inappropriate. When I turned around really madly, ashamed of the image I just saw, she already had her back to me, probably ignoring the whole scene, she muttered something like, 'Damned that required room creator…' under her breath as we walked back again.

After a few more minutes, I saw another hope in this dark tunnel. Light, again.

'This is where I get food.' She explained. Then I understood why she brought me here in the first place. To answer my question.

There was a lot of little I-don't-know-what. It happens to be a kitchen of some sort. They were talking and everything.

The girl called one over in the language I swear was the same as the one she used to talk to her dog. She handed the plate to him/it/her.

Him/it/her said in a polite voice, 'You're very welcome. And may I humbly ask who this gentleman is?' Him/it/her asked.

'I'm Harry, sir, Harry Potter.' I answered, sort of nervously, and kind of amazed.

'I've heard a lot about you. And the secrets of your fame. Don't worry, Mister Potter, your secret is safe with me.' With that he/it/she left.

'What secret?' I asked.

'No worry.' She simply said, but wasn't really happy.

Though I had no idea about what she was talking about, I sense a sudden change in her mood, and not for the better either.

I followed her out of the tunnel. When we reached the place, her dog was already ready to take us back.

'I-I-I don't understand what they mean.' I stammered.

'I tell when reach common room reach.' She replied and jumped onto her dog's back.

I felt that same mood, so didn't dare say anything.

'Can I sit in the front?' I asked, knowing I shouldn't have said that. She didn't say anything, but just move backwards.

'Mate, grip onto my collar hard, or you'll fall.' I heard, not knowing who from, I took hold of the dog's collar.

Within a second, 3 things happened, the girl grabbed onto my waist (which shocked me), I felt that weird sensation again (which wasn't a good feeling, let me tell ya), and I was slipping off almost at lightning speed (which scared the crap out of me).

The girl fell down first and so did I, I was so angry at myself. I'm such an idiot. Her dog stopped as well, noticing our weight off of their back.

'Sorry, are you all right?' I asked apologetically, giving out my hand to help her up, she said nothing but took my hand and I pulled her up. I heard a small 'thanks', but it seemed forced and angry, well no surprise there.

This time she just sat in the front part again, and I followed, I knew enough to not do anything stupid again.

We started off again. This time I realized it was way easier to hold onto her waist than the collar, and found out the burden she goes through to stop the both of us from falling.

When we were back, her dog went straight to sleep beside the fire, and so I started to talk to the girl.

'So what did you mean that-' I started.

'It wasn't you that made Voldemort vanish.' She said simply.

'But-' I began again.

'NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!' a scream screeched in the distance.

She looked at the direction of the dorms panicky, and rushed up the staircases.

I didn't want to cause more trouble so I just left her to do what she was about to do.

The second time was at the Yule Ball, she didn't seem to want to be noticed, but she seemed to be looking everywhere to find someone. At one point she saw him, her eyes were filled with anger and were narrowed, shooting daggers at him. A boy walked pass, and when he passed Harry couldn't see her anymore, but he was sure it was him, but what happened to the friendly attitude?

And those were the only times I ever saw her.

THIRD PERSON'S POV

'Anyway, I wanted you three to come here today were to ask Hermione to unfreeze her.' Lupin continued.

'Ok then,' Hermione said while getting her wand out, 'Mobilous.'

Ateva immediately awoke and sat up through instinct. She had eyes that were red and bloodshot. She looked around the room to Harry. She growled like a dog, sat up like one and went charging at him while taking her dagger out from her pocket.

Harry was so thankful when she was charging past Hermione and Ron, they both stopped her.

Lupin started speaking the same language that she used on her dog a few years back. But to Harry those words came out to him in plain English!

'Ateva! Stop this nonsense! You know you don't need to kill him.' Lupin shouted.

'I don't care! You are one sick BASTARD! I HATE YOU! YOU DEMON CHILD! I WISH YOU'VE NEVER BEEN BORN INTO THIS WORLD!' Ateva's voice shook the room, her teeth showed like a vampires'.

'He didn't know about it! You know well why those things happened to you!' Lupin exclaimed, taking over the responsibility to stop her instead of Ron and Hermione.

'I'M NOT GONNA GIVE ANY SHIT ABOUT IT! ALL OF IT'S HIS FAULT! HE STARTED ALL THIS! I JUST KNOW IT, IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF THIS BASTARD!' Ateva snapped back, never slowing down in charging at him.

'I'M WARNING YOU ATEVA, DON'T DO IT!' Lupin shouted, his calm voice evaporated into thin air.

'I'M SURE AUKINO WOULD BE PROUD IF I JUST KILLED HIM MYSELF!'

Ateva gave up madly, and then howled, it was loud and clear, within seconds, a group of Racksals broke the glass and came in, Ateva backed away from Lupin, then slowly back to the Racksals. Climbing on one of their backs, they disappeared, but before that, she took a sharp needle out of her pocket and threw it at Harry. It scratched his face and landed almost half dug in into the wall. A trickle of blood spilled out. And she warned, 'I'll make every single inch of your face just like your cheek.' Her eyes turned a threatening Gold.
