Chapter 4: Suspicions
So it turns out that Soos has a girlfriend named Sana now, and he wanted to introduce her to the twins and Stan. Dipper told Soos that Stan had been sleeping and Sous was okay with that.
"Well, this girl," Dipper began, "she sounds nice. And does she laugh at your jokes?"
Soos nodded excitedly.
"Yeah, and she has jokes of her own!" he added to the nod.
"I bet they're better than yours…" Dipper muttered under his breath.
"What?" Soos asked.
"Nothing," Dipper lied.
Meanwhile…
Mabel was laying on her bed and staring up at her ceiling. She still had Dipper's shirt hugged to her chest and she didn't understand why. She had always loved her brother, but as a… well, brother… As more than that? She didn't know… But what she did know, was that she was feeling really weird right now.
"Mabel! Come down and meet Soos' girlfriend!"
Mabel exclaimed and sat up. She looked at the empty stairs that led down to the living room. She looked down at Dipper's shirt and gripped it.
"Mabel!" Dipper yelled again.
"Coming!" she called back to her twin.
She folded up Dipper's shirt and set it on her bedside table. She took one last look at it before turning around and heading down the stairs.
Meanwhile…
"This is Sana Dillard, she's my GF. Sana, this is Dipper, the male mystery twin of the Mystery Shack." Soos said, gesturing to the two.
Sana was a pretty, chubby, blonde girl with brown eyes and she seemed to be about Soos' age.
"Don't call me that, Soos. Mabel may like it, but not me." Dipper told the older man.
Soos chuckled and put his arm around Sana.
"Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you, Sana." Dipper said, standing up and shaking her hand.
Dipper then heard footfall and looked up to see Mabel rushing down the stairs.
"I'm here, guys! I wanna see Soos' girlfriend!" the brunette teen girl chirped.
When she saw them, she ran right towards-
"DIPPER!~"
She then glomped her brother and he was tackled to the ground.
"M-Mabel! I thought you were gonna go for Sana!" Dipper exclaimed, trying not to blush.
"Well, now I've gotcha!" Mabel said back, nuzzling her brother.
"Okay, yes, you've established that now! Now please let me go!" he pleaded to his twin.
Mabel smirked and granted her brother's wish by pulling away. She was still on top of him though, so, Dipper wasn't any calmer.
"Okay, now please stand up," the brunette boy told Mabel.
"Okay," she replied as she did.
"Do you really need a step by step tutorial, Mabel?" Dipper inquired, getting up as well.
"Nah, I'm just messing with ya, Dipper!" she replied in a chipper tone.
Dipper couldn't help but find his sister's chipper, quirky attitude kind of… cute and funny. He'd always thought she was funny, even now. But she was also just a classic beauty skilled in many things such as making him and others laugh. But Dipper redirected his thoughts back to reality because he saw his sister talking to Sana right now.
'I've gotta stop nodding off like that…' he thought, rubbing his temples. 'Otherwise I'm never gonna notice anything in life ever again!'
Later…
Sana and Soos bid them farewell and went on their way. Sous was very suspicious of Dipper and Mabel, because they seemed so friendly with each other as of lately… He'd have to talk to them about it sometime.
Meanwhile…
Dipper was up in his room with Mabel, and the latter was reading a book while leaning her face into her palm. Well, it was actually a photo album of them as babies, but it looked like a book from where Dipper was lying. He was laying on his bed and staring up at the ceiling, wondering what was going on with him. He looked over at Mabel and examined her features carefully. Her skin was the exact same tone as his, her nose was small and shaped perfectly like his, and her hair was brown like his, and her eyes were a bit bigger, but still held the same warmth as his own brown eyes did.
Mabel felt a sense that she was being watched for some reason and she needed to be sure. She looked to the left at her brother and saw he was the one staring at him.
"What is it?" she asked her twin, raising one eyebrow.
Dipper's brown eyes shrunk slightly and he redirected his vision to the ceiling.
"N-Nothing!" he lied, blushing a red colour.
Mabel grew curious and closed the photo album. She then went to Dipper's bed and crawled on top of him.
"M-Mabel?!" he gasped, freezing in shock.
"I know you're lying, Dipper." his sister said sternly.
Dipper bit his lower lip in shame; his sister was right.
"Now, what were you staring at?" Mabel asked again.
Dipper stuttered and stammered in nervousness. What should he say? If he told her the truth, she'd freak out and call him sick in the head. But if he continued to lie, she'd never leave him alone!
"M-Mabel… I can't tell you, just let me go, please!" he pleaded.
Mabel stared down at her brother and tilted her head.
"Dipper?" she said softly.
He looked up at his sister who slowly closed her eyes and started to lean down to him. Dipper was shocked but was unable to move at all.
'Mabel?' he thought, slowly slipping his eyes closed.
But before it could happen, they heard a voice call them.
"Mabel! Dipper!"
It was Grunkle Stan.
This kind of surprised them and made Mabel's brown eyes slip closed for a second and she turned her head away while opening them halfway.
"S-Sorry…" the brunette girl admitted shamefully.
She got off her brother who still had a red blush line across his face from what had just occurred. When Grunkle Stan called again, Mabel picked up her pace and ran out of the room and down the stairs. Dipper clutched his pounding heart and panted lightly.
'I must be going mad…' he thought.
"Dipper, get your ass down here, now!"
Upon hearing his Grunkle's gruff voice call him again, Dipper was able to snap out of it and make his way down the stairs. But that didn't snap him out of his state of having a pounding heart and a red face. Was Mabel trying to do what he thought she was trying to do? No, that wouldn't be right! It just wouldn't be right for her to kiss him, because they're siblings; twins, no less! He knew that Mabel got desperate at times, but would she really kiss her own twin brother?! And even he got desperate at times, but he wouldn't do that! It would be so wrong… But, why would it be wrong?
'Because she's my younger, innocent, blood-related, beautiful, twin sister…' he answered himself in his mind.
Then he blushed even more at the fact that he called Mabel "beautiful". Sure, she was beautiful. Even an idiot would say that! But for some reason, it felt even more strange when he said it.
'What the serious fuck is wrong with me?!' Dipper thought, digging his nails into his hair.
He felt so sick right now! But, he had to pull his shit together so no one would be suspicious of him. Who knows how they'd react? It'd be a hell fest just waiting to happen!
When Dipper got down the stairs, he saw Mabel, Stan, and his mother and father. Mandy, his mom, had short, dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes and she was a very kind, sweet, and compassionate person. Danny, his father, had brown hair and brown eyes which were the dominant traits, obviously, because they appeared on him and Mabel. But you could still see the physical, facial traits of Mandy on both the twins. Plus, they had their own looks as well. As Mabel got older, she developed her own small freckles on her face that didn't appear on either of their parents. It made her look even more cute, in Dipper's opinion. Just as he was about to exclaim, Mandy scooped the young boy up in her arms. Mandy was surprisingly strong for such a dainty looking woman!
"Gyah! Mom!~" Dipper whined, blushing.
He heard Mabel laughing at the scene and clapping coming from her hands.
"That's it, ma! Show him no mercy!~" the young girl joked.
This made Dipper growl momentarily but then he smirked.
"Oh, yeah? Get her, dad!" he commanded.
But before Mabel could run away, Danny scooped his daughter up and started giving her the same treatment!
The laughter from the whole family was enough to make someone say, "What a close family the Pine's are!" in a chipper tone.
But Grunkle Stan was feeling moody now, and was in no mood to be happy. So, he abruptly cleared his throat to get the tussling group's attention. It worked, and Mandy released Dipper, and Danny released Mabel.
"Yes, anyway," Stan said, pacing.
"Your parents have come here for a very important reason, kids." he told the twins.
They looked at each other then back at their Grunkle.
"And that is?" Dipper questioned the older man.
Stan sighed and corrected his glasses while he turned to face the four people standing there.
"They're here to take you home because I'm shutting down the Mystery Shack."
Dipper and Mabel gasped at this and looked at Grunkle Stan with half-shrunken brown eyes and covered mouths. They could not believe what they were hearing right now!
"F-For how long?" Dipper asked nervously.
"For good…" Stan replied.
"B-But-!" both Dipper and Mabel stuttered.
"No, kids… I'm sorry, but… Let's just say that business is bad, I'm fresh outta ideas, Wendy quit yesterday, and the rest is history! 'Sides, I'm too old for this crap…" Stan explained, cracking his back a little.
"But… where will we go for summer?" Mabel asked, her voice breaking off.
Stan sighed and tried not to look into Mabel's sad, brown eyes. Dipper felt like he was gonna cry as well but tried to hold it in. He then heard sniffling next to him and saw Mabel was now crying. Her tears were running like a fountain and her teeth were bared, making her eyes kind of scrunch up a little.
"Mabel?" the brunette boy asked, reaching for her.
But before he could grab her, Mabel distinguished the gap and grabbed her brother's hand. Dipper gasped and exclaimed as he felt Mabel drag him along with her, out of the shack and away from everyone else. Mandy was about to follow them, but lost her strength to try and do so.
"What is going one with the twins?" she wondered.
"Dunno, they've been acting weird ever since 3 weeks ago when Dipper had his heart broken." Stan answered.
This caught Mandy's and Danny's attention and they turned to Stan.
"Dipper had his heartbroken?" the latter asked and Stan nodded.
"Yeah, Wendy, a former employee, he liked her, but she's with some emo kid named Robbie now and that hurt Dipper. And Mabel's been showing him a lot of affection lately ever since."
Upon hearing this, Mandy raised an eyebrow and her head turned to the open door.
"Hm…" she murmured to herself.
"Affection, huh?"
Done! Also, stop asking me to continue this story, I am so sick of it!
