A/N : So welcome to another chapter! Here are some things I'd like to say:
*** THANK YOU everyone who reviewed, It means a lot! ***
*As neither Ron or Harry were in the sorting ceremony in their 2
nd year, I had a lot of trouble finding Ginny's year-mates and even roommates, so I tried not mentioning them. If any of you have some information about those who started Hogwarts in 1992, let me know J
*Points of view will be switched sometimes, but most of the time, it will be told from Violetta's pov.
Please follow and favorite, but most of all- review!

#I do not own Harry Potter#

Chapter 4: New World

It was a week later, and in a few short hours the entire Burrow would start getting ready for their trip to Diagon Alley. It was still early in the morning, and it was chilly outside and vacant of people, but two children walking around the farm, Harry and Letta. The two didn't get to spend much time together, as Harry was almost always occupied with Ron, and Letta with Ginny, so the two liked to stroll outside together when they could. "You know Ray; I still think it's not true." Said Letta quietly. "I mean, I know I got the letter, but…"
"No buts." He cut her. "You got it and that's it. You're magical." He smiled and put his arm around her. "But how can it be? You all say you've noticed me do magic, but I haven't!" Letta was happy to get her letter, and wanted to believe, she was indeed a witch, but she tried being reasonable, after all, how could it be?
"Letta. Many witches and wizards don't show magical signs until they are older. Take my friend Neville for example, I've told you about him." He said, and Letta laughed silently at the thought of the poor boy hanging from a window. "Point is" Harry continued, "No need to worry, you'd make a fine witch" He smiled at her, as they walked towards the Burrow. Letta smiled and offered him a hug, and the two went inside the kitchen.

After breakfast, the whole lot of them were standing by the fire place and waiting for each's turn to travel to Diagon Alley. Letta was to travel with Meddy next, and she was grateful. She didn't like traveling by the Floo Network, as it made her feel dizzy and sick. Furthermore, she was scared about Harry's whereabouts, as he wasn't talking clear enough, in her opinion.

As they stepped out in the Leaky Cauldron, they met a terrified Ron, asking them if they knew where Harry was.
"What do you mean where's Harry?" She snapped at him. "He didn't arrive yet!" Ron answered.
"Let's go look for him, then!" She said, and without even glancing at her aunt they both ran off.
They didn't know where to go, and the alley was big, and since neither of them ever been there alone, they just ran in random directions and streets.

"Ron!" Suddenly a voice called, "Ron Weasley! 'Oi!" Ron's head turned to the direction the voice was coming from, and his face turned to a smile. "Hagrid!" He called and ran towards the caller. Violetta turned around to find a big man standing next to her red-head friend, a very big man, a very very big big man, with loads of hair, and a long beard. She came closer as Ron hugged him, and tried to make her way towards them, as people straggled to get away. "What are you doing here, Hagrid?" Ron asked, looking very up high, "Oh jus' got some slug repellent." Hagrid answered, and he suddenly noticed Violetta. "And who may you be, youn' lady?" Hagrid said and offered his hand. "I'm Violetta, Nice to meet you, Mr. ...Erm..." She said inconveniently, while shaking his hand. How could she not remember his name? How embarrassing! "Hagrid, Rubeus Hagrid. Keeper of keys, game, and grounds at Hogwarts." He smiled at her. "Call me Hagrid." He said with a wink. "You startin' at Hogwarts this year?" He asked. "Yes, I am." She smiled proudly. "Everyone thought she was a squib until last week." Ron said as he looked at Letta. "Really?" Hagrid said, clearly surprised. "Yes. But that doesn't mean that …" She started, "It means" Hagrid cut her, "That ye'r gonna be one of the finest witches Hogwarts has ever seen." He said warmly. "I wish you the bes' o' luck!", and Letta blushed at his kind words, and managed to mumble a soft 'Thank-you', before Hagrid mentioned sending Harry off in the direction he just came from. "Let's go then Letta!" Ron jumped, "See you in school Hagrid!" He waved as he started running where Hagrid pointed them. "Bye Hagrid!" Letta said also, and ran after Ron. "Bye kids!" Hagrid said as he went his way.

Meanwhile, Harry and Hermione were walking towards 'Flourish and Blotts', and Harry just finished exclaiming his gratitude, towards Hermione, who once more fixed his glasses. "Say Harry, who were the two little girls on the train platform, when we came back from school?" She asked. "I reckon the red-haired girl was Ginny, but who was the blonde, curly one? She seemed really sweet." Harry blushed a bit. Why was he blushing? That was just Letta, his best friend. "Oh, that's Letta. Remember I told you guys about her?"
"Oh, your friend from Privet Drive?" She asked. "Yes. She actually came with me and Ron's family, to get her school supplies as well." Hermione stopped, "But Harry, didn't you say she was a…" "A squib, yes, but she got her letter as well. We were all quite shocked, as was she." He recalled. "How fascinating!" She gasped, "She must be so excited!" She continued. "Yes, she is…" Harry laughed to himself, and then: "Hermione! Harry!" They heard Ron's shouting, and saw both Run and Letta run towards them. "Slower! I'm not as tall and fast as you!" Letta yelled at him. "Hey guys." Ron said, while Letta was sorting her breath out. "Harry where were you? We were worried about you!" She said once she could speak once more. "Landed in the wrong fireplace, I guess." He said. "Well your face is dirty. Here." She offered him a napkin. "Where are you guys heading?" Ron said, as he looked at Hermione, and Both Harry and Letta could swear he got a bit pink. "Just there." Hermione pointed at the book store behind them, and they all entered.

After Letta swore to Andromeda she would never run away again, and a rather unpleasant 'meeting' with the so-called-famous Gilderoy Lockhart, who she found completely irritating and obnoxious, contrary to Hermione, Ginny, and pretty much every witch in the shop, a blonde boy came up to Harry, and as he got a bit too annoying… "Leave him alone!" Both she and Ginny stood up, from each of Harry sides. "What's that Potter? Got yourself some cheerleaders?" He snarled, and eyed them, and after a second of looking at Letta, his face lighted, as if he remembered something. "A blood-traitor and a squib! Hilarious!" Malfoy said, bursting with laughter. Just then, a man, who looks like the boy's father came up, and introduced himself as Lucius Malfoy, and Letta remembered! That was the man and boy she yelled at all those years ago! She hoped the father wouldn't recognize her, but he did. "Grew up, haven't we?" He said, facing Letta. "Are you still yelling at strangers?".
"Lucius." Arthur's voice was heard. "Would you and your son move? You're blocking the entrance." He said. Lucius picked one of Ginny's second-hand books, and after making a rude comment about the Weasleys, put it back. "You should know, a family's quality is marked by their warmth and love." Letta stepped up again, not caring about the outcome, "And your family seems like the worst kind!" She was now angry; the Weasleys are some of the greatest people she met, and knowing them for not so long, that said something! How dared he say those means things about them? "Your expensive clothes or that fancy-silver-thing on your wand says nothing!" She finished. They reminded her of the bullies at her school, and she wouldn't have any of that here, and not towards the people who are so nice and welcoming. "Good-day to you." She said as she walked away, and the whole Weasley-Tonks-Granger-Harry lot after her. "That was awesome!" Ron and the Twins looked like they were about to fly, but Andromeda and Ted weren't as happy, but nor were they mad. After asking Letta to not yell at strangers anymore, they forgot about the scene.

Next stop for Letta was Ollivander's. She couldn't wait to finally get her own wand, the real proof she was indeed a witch. At the shop, which was small and filled with smoke, she entered with both Andromeda and Ted, who sat next the window at the front, and Ollivander, a strange yet fascinating man came up to Letta. "Ah... Violetta. Such a surprise to see you! Are you excited, having found out you're a witch?" He said smiling, "Living you whole life thinking you are something and then realizing you thought wrong." He was now going through many boxes which were staked on high shelves. Letta turned to her uncle and aunt with horror in her face. How did he know so much about her? She thought. But then Andromeda offered a reassuring smile and nodded. "Try it, Violetta." He suddenly said, and she turned around the find him holding a wand, and took it. She tried waving, but nothing happened. She looked at it; it was made of dark wood and was long with flowers carved onto it. "Hm… I guess not." He said, and turned to the other boxes.
After what seemed like fifteen or twenty wands, Violetta seemed to panic. "Maybe my letter was a mistake?" She asked in a low voice. "Nonsense! We just need to find the right wand for you. Perhaps… Perhaps this?" Ollivander said, handing her a light wood wand, with a white marble ball at its bottom. Violetta gave it a wave, and suddenly, a few boxes moved. "Ah yes… Now I understand… But not yet, not yet…" He took the wand from Letta and placed it back in a box, and went to the farthest shelf. "A unique wand for a unique girl." He said as he took out a white box, with beautiful red markings on the side of it, and as soon as Letta held it, she felt a swarm of light fill her, and the wand shot beautiful sparks. "Yes… Yes!" This is it then. Blackthorn with unicorn hair core, exactly twelve inches, unyielding. Congratulations Miss Tonks." He smiled. Letta examined the wand; it was dark brown, slightly thicker at the bottom, and rounded on both sides. It also had a white string around it, from the bottom to the top, and mirroring it, a red string. They paid Ollivander and went to continue their shopping.

After their day at Diagon Alley, they each went home, and Harry stayed at the Burrow until the end of the summer. Letta was excited, and couldn't wait for the holidays to be over. Nimmy also came back for a week from her auror training, and the amount of 'I told you so''s she gave out to her parents, was never ending. By September 1st, Letta had rearranged her trunk about ten times, and read some of her school books, charms and potions being her two favorites.

When the day finally came, they all met at the train station, and Letta, Ginny, Molly and Andromeda were the first to go past the gate to platform 9¾. Fred, George, Percy and Arthur were next, and Hermione along with her parents came after. Ginny, Letta and Hermione decided to try and catch a compartment they could sit in, and after a very teary good-bye from their parents, and aunt-uncle, the girls decided to board the train, and wait for Harry and Ron to join them later. The girls sat in compartment in the very far right of the train, but as it got moving, there was no sign of Harry and Ron.
"They couldn't have missed it, could they?" Ginny worried, "No way." Hermione told her "They were right behind us. I'm sure they just can't find us." She reassured her, and offered some muggle-sweets, Letta recognized are Jelly Babies, and they each ate some. About an hour into the ride, Ginny asked: "Do you know where you'll be sorted, Letta?"
"I … haven't thought about it…" She said, looking bewildered. "I don't know…"
"I'm pretty sure I'll be a Gryffindor, as my whole family is and was." Ginny laughed. "What about yours, where were they?" Hermione asked. "Ted and Nimmy are both Hufflepuff, but aunt Meddy was a Slytherin." Both Ginny and Hermione gasped. "Dromeda, Slytherin? But she is so nice, and loving!" Ginny said. "Most Slytherins aren't known for their kindness…" Hermione added.
"But there could be different people, couldn't there?"
I guess you're right..." Ginny said. "Any way, any house would love to have you." She smiled at her friends. She liked them, and she sort of hoped to be placed with Ginny, wherever that will be.

The train ride was long, but eventually, after hours of talking, laughing, eating and a bit sleeping they arrived. Ginny, Letta and the rest of the first years were taken by Hagrid to the boats, and there the girls got on a boat with a young boy named Collin Creevy (Letta thought 'Creepy' was more suitable), and a girl, Luna lovegood. As they came closer to the castle, Violetta was gaping at it. She was excited, and scared, and thrilled, and couldn't wait to start her studying.

When they arrived to the entrance of the Great Hall, they waited until they were called to come in. Meanwhile, at the Gryffindor table, Hermione and the older Weasleys were freaking out. Neither Harry nor Ron showed up, and the sorting ceremony was about to begin. Percy was going on about having to write to Molly and Arthur, but Hermione was wishing they didn't do anything foolish, but as she knew the boys were reckless and a little too brave, she knew better, and hoped for them to be alright. The doors of the Great Hall opened, and the first years came inside. Hermione needn't even search, as both Violetta and Ginny stood out- Ginny with her red hair, and Violetta with her blonde curls. Hermione felt jealous at times, seeing how her hair came into place so nicely, but knew better than to dwell on it.

The sorting ceremony began after the sorting hat's song, and empty seats started filling. Eventually, Ginny's name was called out, and she came up to the hat, and after a short few seconds it shouted: "GRYFFINDOR!" She hopped to her feet and joined her brothers as they stood up and roared proudly, and as they calmed down and sat, and a girl was sorted to Hufflepuff, Hermione informed her there was still no sign of Harry and Ron. Ginny was about to ask Fred and George what to do, when they heard Professor McGonagall call Letta up to the hat.

Violetta came up, sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head. She saw Hermione and Ginny looking at her, offering her encouraging smiles, as a voice spoke in her mind.
"Well well… Difficult... Interesting situation..." The voice spoke, but Letta stayed focused on her friends. "Loyal, daring, wise, kind…I do sense a connection to Slytherin, a strong one, but..." It stopped for a moment, "You're not aware of it…" And without breaking her eye-contact from her friends, she thought: 'I am. My aunt was in Slytherin.' "Ah yes, but it is far bigger than that. Nevertheless, you must learn it alone. We must find a house for you right now." Violetta now recognized Malfoy at the Slytherin table, and remembered how she stood up to him, and his father, twice. "Stood up for yourself more than once." The hat read her mind, "Not afraid to speak your mind. Also, a lot of care towards your loved ones…"

"Potter. Weasley." Snape hissed. "With me. Now."
Harry and Ron jumped; they were watching the ceremony from a small gap between the doors, and were nervously watching and waiting Letta to be sorted.
"Professor, please!" Harry asked, "Just one more second!"
"Now. Potter."

"…great magical potential and a want to express it…"

"But sir!" Ron pleaded Snape.

"…but I think, I shall place you…"

"Now, both of you." Snape was getting annoyed.

"…I shall place you in…"

"Please!" They pleaded.

"GRYFFINDOR!"
