A/N: My apologies for not getting this chapter done sooner. Still, I'm glad everyone is (if you'll pardon the expression) going bananas over the concept of Bobo being the villain. This idea was inspired when I saw 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'. It was also partial inspired by a story I saw where Ron reencountered Bobo who had become a monster. Furthermore, I'm surprised no one had thought of this before. Since the show involved a lot of things monkey related, you'd think someone would've come up with the old 'super intelligent simian' cliché. Remember, Mastermind is only partially an OC. I only own his name, not the character he originated from. I also don't own Kim Possible no matter how much I wish it so. If I did, it wouldn't have been taken off Disney XD (or Disney Channel for that matter). Well, enough of my prattling. The story continues!
I.
"What?!" Kim cried in shock as she looked at a quaking Ron as if he was crazy "You've got to be kidding!"
Meanwhile Mastermind continued cackling. "Oh, he's right, alright!" the villainous primate said wickedly "It's been a long time, Ron. Did you miss me?"
"You wish" Ron whimpered.
Kim couldn't believe it, but it was true. Their villain was actually Bobo, the former mascot of Camp Wannaweep; the very same chimp that had scarred Ron so bad in his youth that he developed a fear of all things simian that lasted for so many years.
"But…But how?" was all she could ask.
"Ah, yes" said Mastermind "This is the part where I explain my origin, isn't it?"
"Sounds like someone has been reading the supervillain manual" Kim muttered to Ron who merely nodded nervously.
"To begin my story" the supervillain chimp said "I'm sure you recall why the camp was shut down thanks to an encounter with another old camp buddy of yours".
Kim and Ron just sneered. Clearly this guy had done his research on their previous missions.
"Unfortunately, the camp counselors had no idea what to do with me following the camp's closing" Mastermind went on "In the end, they had no choice but to sell me to a science lab. Alas, it wasn't one of the more morally restrained labs. There, I was subjected to countless dangerous and unethical experiments. Oh, the pain and suffering I endured".
"Yeah?" Ron asked "Well, I'd feel sorry for you if you hadn't put me through the exact same thing!"
"Then one day" Mastermind said, ignoring Ron "I felt as if something was strangely different, like I was looking at the world in a whole new light. That's when I realized it: I had become incredibly intelligent as well as grown to the size of a human!" The intellectual chimp's eyes widened as he remembered the first days of his newfound intellect. "It was unbelievable. I was capable of accomplishing things no primate had ever achieved before. Of course, I kept my intelligence hidden from my captors by pretending to still be a mere chimp, not wanting those fools to know of what they had achieved".
"Naturally, in my new state, I didn't want to spend the rest of my life as a guinea pig so I eventually began to plan my escape. I knew that if I simply ran away, the scientists would search for me. I needed a plan to ensure they'd never come after me. After careful planning, I was finally ready. One night, I used the lab's computer to arrange for myself to be transferred to another lab. No one was the wiser. The day of my transfer, I discreetly placed some explosives I had developed inside the transport van. I then faked my death during my transfer by triggering the explosives and escaping from the van into the woods before they went off". Seeing the shocked looks on his captives' faces, he added "Not to worry, the driver got out safely. And more importantly, my cover was secure, thus ensuring no one would search for me".
"Of course, now that I had obtained my freedom, the question remaining was what my next move would be. I figured since I had been granted incredible genius, the only logical thing to do was use it, but how? That's when it came to me: I would use my intelligence to make primates the dominate species of this world! And thus, Bobo the chimp was no more. On that day, I had transformed into…Mastermind!"
After finishing, Mastermind took a dramatic bow, to which his simian henchmen applauded and hooted. Kim and Ron meanwhile just stared at the villainous chimp in front of them.
"Interesting story" Kim finally said in a dry manner "And just how do you plan to do that?"
"I was hoping you'd ask" Mastermind said with a smile that displayed rows of scary jagged teeth "Using the lab's data on the experiments they performed on me, which I stole in case it would come in handy, I created a formula of my own version in the form of a gas. It's designed to affect brain chemistry in primates and magnifies the cerebrum, increasing the primate's intelligence. I then went around the country to zoos and wildlife reserves in order find minions. Thanks to my intelligence, many were willing to follow me".
"Even Monkey Fist's monkey ninjas?" Kim asked as she looked to the ninja clad simians.
"They needed a new leader" Mastermind said simply "And fortunately, they chose someone who wasn't a mere human impersonating a monkey. Anyway, after I recruited enough apes, I then gave them a dose of my formula. To my delight, it worked perfectly. Their brainpower increased greatly. And they only grow smarter by the day".
"Well, that explains a lot" Kim muttered.
"Indeed" Mastermind said with a nasty smirk "And that's just the beginning. As you may have noticed, I've been having my minions steal the necessary chemicals in order to make vast quantities of my formula. I also had them steal the parts needed to build missiles, which I just so happened to finish constructing just before you arrived. Now I'm ready to begin. Once I launch my missiles, they will release my gas into the air across the entire globe".
"Which will cause every monkey and ape on the planet to grow smarter" Kim finished for him.
"Very astute, Miss Possible" Mastermind complimented the teen "But that's not all. It will also have an adverse effect on humans".
"What do you mean?" Kim asked, not liking what the chimp was implying.
"You see" Mastermind explained "Utilizing the technique your foe Dr. Drakken used to create his so-called 'silly hats' and the similarities between simian and human DNA, I've calibrated the formula so that while it will increase the intellect in primates, it will cause the human cerebrum to shrivel. As simians get smarter, mankind will be dumbed down. Soon, primates will be the smartest creatures on the planet and mankind will be blathering numbskulls!"
As Kim and Ron gasped, the monkey that seemed to be the second in command began laughing madly.
"Down, Digger" Mastermind said to the simian, causing Kim and Ron to exchange shocked looks.
"Digger?" Kim asked "As in Digger McDirt? The monkey that has tried to escape from the Blansford Zoo 128 times? You recruited him too?"
"It was a simple exchange" Mastermind said simply "I free him, he serves me. Back to the matter at hand, it won't be long before we simians take our rightful place as masters of the world! I can see it now, cities populated not by humans, but by apes!"
"Let me guess, with you pulling the strings?" Kim inquired.
"Well, someone has to be in charge" Mastermind said with shrug.
"Uh, KP" Ron said "While I no longer fear monkeys except for the one presently in front of us, I really don't want to live in a world ruled by apes".
"Oh, don't worry" the evil chimp said with a chuckle "You won't have any memory of your current lives. You see, I haven't tested my formula on humans yet, but I want to make sure the effects are exactly as I calculated before I launch my missiles. Fortunately for me, I just got a couple of human guinea pigs".
Ron gulped. "I don't like the sound of that" he whimpered.
Kim, meanwhile, focused on Mastermind "Just what makes you think we're going to let you do that?" she asked as she struggled to break free of her chains.
"You can struggle all you want" Mastermind said maliciously "That nerve gas you were hit with is a creation of mine. It's designed to leave the victim weak and helpless for hours. That's why I have no problem telling you my plan. If a villain's going to gloat, they should make sure their prisoner can't do a thing about it".
Kim just growled. Wouldn't you know someone would finally find a way to monologue properly?
Mastermind then turned to Ron "Before you go, there's something I've been meaning to tell you" his face turned into a sneer "From the moment I met you, there was something about you I despised. For some reason I hated your guts. That's why I did what I did".
"What?" Kim asked suspiciously.
"Oh, come on" the evil simian said "You really think it was an accident what I put him through? Please. I did have a little intelligence to know what I was doing".
"Wait a minute. Are you saying…" Kim said, anger in her voice "You tormented Ron on purpose?!"
"Ding dong! We have a winner!" Mastermind said sarcastically, causing Kim's rage to increase "Relax, Miss Possible. You won't be feeling angry for much longer. In fact, you won't be feeling anything in a few minutes" He turned to his second in command "Digger, be a good boy and take them to the gas chamber".
Digger saluted his boss before hooting to the group of primates. Two gorillas then grabbed Kim and Ron and hauled them to their feet. With a contained Rufus in tow, the two teens were marched out of the chamber by half a dozen simians led by Digger, Kim angrily struggling to break free the whole time.
"If I ever get a hold of you" the auburn heroine yelled to Mastermind "You'll wish you were never born!"
"And a 'Ta Ta' to you too, Team Possible" the villainous chimp said before walking off in the other direction with a wicked smirk on his face.
II.
"What a way to go" Ron said as he and Kim were marched to their doom "Our minds turned to mush by the very chimp that ignited my fear" he sighed "I knew that chimp was crazy. There was something about him that seemed off but nobody believed me. Now the entire world is doomed".
"Ron, you're acting like it's all over" Kim said as she continued to struggle against her chains.
"What can I do?" Ron asked "You saw how I acted back there. I may have faced down many monkeys before, but there's no way I can stand up to that chimp".
Soon, the simians led the teens into another room. Like the main one, there were machines lined along the walls. In the corner was a clear dome-like chamber. Digger hooted and the apes shoved Kim and Ron into the chamber which sealed shut as soon as they were inside.
"Well, at least I won't remember being afraid of monkeys" Ron looked on the bright side of the situation.
"Yeah, along with everything else" Kim said "Ron, you rallied my spirits after Drakken played me during the Diablo incident, so now it's my turn. You're not the same person that chimp tormented. You've changed. You're stronger now. And if you think I'm going to let you give into that freak, you've got another thing coming".
Ron thought for a moment and realized Kim had a point. "Thanks, KP. You really know how to boost my spirits" he then motioned to the apes working the console "But I don't think it'll do any good in a few moments".
At that moment, one of the apes pushed a button on the console. Air vents opened on all sides of the doom, allowing a yellow gas to flow in.
"Oh, no" Rufus moaned as he watched from his container, unable to do anything to help his friends.
"Don't breathe it in" Kim said before holding her breath, Ron following suite.
Kim had to act fast. While she and Ron were good at holding their breath for a while, they couldn't keep the gas that was currently flowing around them from getting into their noses for very long. They needed to get out of there. Unfortunately, as long as that immobilization gas was in their systems, they were powerless. Suddenly, she had an idea. If enough adrenaline ran through their veins, it might burn off the gas. But what could cause a bigger adrenaline rush than their current situation?
That's when it hit Kim.
Before Ron knew it, Kim planted a passionate kiss on his lips. Hot blood rushed to every part of Ron's body as he felt himself become reenergized. With a single flex, Ron broke free of his chains. Unfortunately, while Kim's strength had also been restored through the kiss, she wasn't strong enough to break her chains. Motioning to Ron to help her, her boyfriend got the message and slashed his hand downward, slicing through Kim's chains.
"Quick, get us out of here" Kim said with her hands over her mouth. No sooner did she say so than did Ron pull back his hand before throwing a fist at the glass wall, shattering it into pieces.
Quickly, the two teens escaped their confinement, only to come face to face with a group of angry apes who began advancing on Digger's command.
"Bring it on" Kim said as she got into a fighting position before confidently turning to Ron "This time, we're ready".
Sure enough, Ron's MMP was active. When an orangutan charged at him, he leaped over it with amazing grace before giving it a kick to the back. Then, with incredible speed, he ran up to the ape holding Rufus. The gorilla brought its arm down but Ron skillfully dodged before delivering a powerful punch to its stomach, sending the ape flying, causing him to release the container holding Rufus from his grip. Quickly, Ron caught the container and opened it.
"Hey, buddy" Ron said happily "You okay?"
"Hmm-hmm" Rufus said before retreating to the safety of Ron's pocket.
At the same time, two monkeys were charging at Kim with their trademark weapons. Dodging the first one's uppercut swing, Kim roundhoused it into unconsciousness. No sooner did he hit the ground than the other one brought its weapon down over Kim's head. Fortunately, the heroine managed to avoid getting smashed and delivered a strong kick to the ape's stomach.
As that was going on, four baboons moved in on Ron from four different directions. They then leaped at the blonde, but Ron quickly got into a handstand and spun to send them in all directions.
Meanwhile, a gorilla was trying to flatten Kim with its powerful strikes. "I don't think so" the auburn heroine said as she dodged before sweeping her foot underneath the ape, causing it to lose its footing and fall backwards.
Two more gorillas surrounded Ron on either side of him, each throwing a punch at him. Quickly, Ron grabbed both their fists.
"Let's go for a little spin" he said with a smirk before spinning like a top at high speed. Just when it looked like the two overgrown simian mooks were about to lose their lunch, Ron released their paws, causing them to go flying in opposite direction and crashed into the walls.
"Well, looks like that's all of them" Kim said as it seemed all their attackers were defeated.
"Kim, look out!" Ron shouted as he pointed behind her, causing her to turn around and see what he was pointing at. Sure enough, a desperate Digger, his fellow henchapes all neutralized, was charging at Kim.
Acting quickly, Kim got into a defensive possession just as Digger threw a punch at her that she quickly blocked. Digger then thrust his foot, only for Kim to jump to the side before delivering a kick of her own which sent the monkey flying backwards. Hooting angrily, Digger leaped upward and attempted to smash Kim with both his fists, but she quickly leaped away, leaving him to hit the ground.
"Looks like someone needs to work on their fighting style" Kim said with a smirk.
Growling in annoyance, Digger pulled out a shovel and wielded it like a sword.
"You've got to be kidding" Kim said in disbelief as she dodged the monkey's downward swing. However, when the shovel's tip hit the floor, it left a huge crack in it. "Okay" Kim admitted "You're not kidding".
His eyes narrowed, Digger swung his razor sharp shovel blade at Kim, nearly give her a close shave. Acting quickly, Kim grabbed the shovel by its handle opposite Digger and swung upward, sending Mastermind's second-in command crashing to floor out cold.
"Whew, glad that's over" Kim said as she looked around to see that all the primates were unconscious this time "Now we just gotta find our way around this place and stop Mastermind from launching those missiles".
Just then, a Kimmunicator came flying in through a tunnel and landed in Kim's hands. In a flash, Wade's image appeared.
"Hey guys, are you okay?" the tech guru asked "When I lost the signal of your Kimmunicators, I sent this backup to your location. Sorry it took so long to reach you".
"We're fine, Wade" Kim said "We're glad you sent this. Can you call up a map of this labyrinth mountain? We have to find Mastermind".
"Sure, no problem" Wade said "But who is Mastermind?"
"It's a long story that we'll explain on the way" Kim said "Right now, we need directions to the main computer room".
It took a few moments, but Wade managed to get a map of the mountain's maze-like cavern.
"Well, according to my scans, there's a large concentration of energy in the center of the mountain" he said.
"Tell us how to get there" Kim said as she and Ron took off.
III.
"Man, you could get lost in here" Ron was saying as he and Kim walked through the inner workings of the mountain "It feels like we've been walking for hours. Are we almost there?"
"Shh. Keep it down, Ron" Kim said in a hushed voice "We're here".
Sure enough, the duo had come to a large chamber that looked more advanced than the gas chamber. In the center of the chamber was a gigantic monitor and on the screen, they could see a trio of missiles prepped and ready to be fired. And there, in front of the monitor, Mastermind was working at the console.
Sneering as she remembered what Mastermind had said, Kim quickly approached him and attempted to grab him…only for her hand passed right through him, causing him to fizzle like a television screen.
Gasping, Kim pulled her hand away then waved it slightly through what appeared to be Mastermind, which fizzled again.
"A hologram" she realized.
As the image vanished, a familiar chuckle caught their ears.
"Did you really expect me to be unprepared in case you escaped?" the chimp said as he stepped from the shadows "I commend you for your efforts, but I'm afraid you're too late. I guess I'll just have to witness the effects my formula has on humans in the field".
Growling fiercely at the appearance of the evil chimp, Kim quickly turned to Ron. "You stop the missiles; I'll deal with this creep".
Nodding in agreement, Ron quickly raced over to console while Kim faced off against Mastermind, who gave a wicked smirk.
"So, you wish to fight me, girl?" he asked as he got into a fighting pose "Then I'll be glad to oblige you. Bring it on".
Kim did. In a flash, she threw a sharp punch to the chimp's stomach that sent him flying into the wall and sprawling to the floor.
As Mastermind shook his head to clear off the surprise attack he just received, Kim advanced on the simian's downed form.
"Do you know how much suffering Ron has gone through because of you?" she asked viciously.
"What's it to you?" Mastermind retorted as he picked himself up "Since when do you care about your boyfriend's well being?"
Enraged by Mastermind's words, Kim charged at him. She attempted to throw another powerful punch at him, only this time, the villainous chimp was ready and quickly side stepped it before throwing a kick to Kim's abdomen.
"You thought I was just all brains, didn't you?" Mastermind said as he got into fighting stance "Please. Who would know how to fight like a primate better than a primate?"
Refusing to lose to this creep, Kim threw out her leg, but Mastermind blocked it with a kick of his own.
Mastermind smirked to himself. Just as he had predicted, Kim was so enraged that while her attacks were fiercer, her movements were dampened. All he had to do was keep egging her on.
"Now, really?" he taunted the redhead "Is that the best you've got?"
Snarling, Kim then attempted to sweep kick him, but he jumped over her feet and landed behind her before launching a punch to her back.
"You know, I'm surprised that Shego hasn't been able to beat you yet the way you fight" Mastermind commented.
Growling angrily, Kim brought her hand down in a cross chop, but the wicked simian moved to the side to easily avoid it.
"Uh, KP?" came a voice from off to the side.
"What is it, Ron?" Kim asked, momentarily turning away from the villainous anthropoid in front of her.
"I'm looking, but I can't find the timer on this thing" the blond called back.
"Then there must be a launch button" Kim deduced "Rip it out, quick".
"Uh, I don't see that either" Ron said.
"Oh, you mean this?" came a taunt.
Whirling back around, Kim saw Mastermind holding up a small remote in his paw. Before Kim knew it, he pushed the button on top.
The sound of engines filled the whole mountain. Turning back to the monitor, Kim and Ron watched the three missiles launched and took off through the three silos in the side of the mountain.
"Looks like you're too late" Mastermind gloated as he watched the screen "It won't be long before those missiles pass over every major city in the world".
Anger bubbling up inside her, Kim growled ferociously before throwing her fist at Mastermind. Much to her surprise, however, he quickly grabbed her arm with both hands. Still holding onto her, the chimp then raised his feet and slammed them into Kim's midriff, pinning her to the floor.
"Enough monkeying around" he said with a sneer "Time to finish this".
"Kim!" Ron cried. At that moment, energy surged through him. Before Mastermind could deliver the final blow, Ron raced forward at incredible speed even for him and shot a powerful punch to the evil simian's side, sending him flying off Kim and crashing to the floor.
"Are you alright, KP?" he asked as he helped his girlfriend up.
"I'm fine" Kim said, breathing hard.
Looking back to the monitor, the pair saw that the missiles were passing over different parts of the world at remarkable speed, their vents releasing Mastermind's gas.
"Kim, listen" Ron said as Mastermind got back to his feet "You and Wade stop the missiles. I'll handle this dude".
Kim was about to protest when Ron placed his fingers to her mouth.
"You're too wound up to fight him" he said "I get that you're angry about what he did to me, but you're not focusing. Let me deal with him, please?"
Seeing the look in eyes, Kim reluctantly nodded before running over to console, leaving Ron alone with Mastermind.
"So" Mastermind said as he cracked his knuckles while walking in a circle "Just like old times, huh, Ron? Why aren't you quaking in your shoes?"
"Save it, creep" Ron said as he circled as well "It's just you and me, and I've got a score to settle with you" he took a monkey kung fu stance "Let's do this".
Making the first move, Mastermind jumped on his hands before thrusting his feet at Ron. Quickly, Ron leaped upward and grabbed a pipe on the ceiling to avoid the attack. He then dropped to the floor on all fours before launching his hands, palms out, into Mastermind's stomach.
"That was for keeping me up all night with your hooting and screeching!" Ron declared.
Not to be outdone, Mastermind threw a punch at Ron's chest, sending him backwards. Quickly recovering, Ron ran back at him and dodged a swipe of his paws before throwing an upward kick to the chimp's jaws.
"That was for getting your ticks all over my bed!" Ron shouted.
The evil chimpanzee then threw his leg out in a kick, only for Ron to duck it. Mastermind then shot out a punch, but Ron moved to the side before raising his leg and kicking Mastermind so hard, he crashed into the wall.
"And that's for all the mud you threw in my face!"
"You wish that was mud" Mastermind thought to himself as he got back up and charged at Ron.
As Ron and Mastermind ducked it out, Kim was looking over the computer console. Finally finding a port, she plugged the Kimmunicator into it.
"Tick Tock, Wade" she said as the tech guru's image appeared on the Kimmunicator "We have to take out those missiles before it's too late".
"I'm on it, Kim" Wade said before rapidly typing on his keyboard and getting some feedback "We may have a problem, Kim. There's no self destruct mechanism, so we can't detonate them manually".
Kim sighed "Perfect. We had to run into a villain who doesn't include that feature in his weapons. Well, how about if we caused them to crash into each other? That would destroy them".
"Just one problem" Wade said "Causing them to explode would cause the gas inside them to flow over a massive portion of the planet, affecting who knows how many humans and simians".
"Great, then what do we do?" Kim asked exasperated.
Ron, who was still fighting Mastermind, had heard everything and after some thinking, came up with an idea.
"How about if we divert them into space before crashing them into each other?" he asked. "That way, the gas wouldn't get to anyone".
Kim quickly turned back to the Kimmunicator in her hand "What do you think, Wade?"
"That might work" Wade agreed.
"Well then, reprogram those missiles to go into space, quick!" Kim said.
"You got it" Wade said before quickly typing again. Suddenly, the Kimmunicator's image began to fizzle.
"Wade, what's wrong?" Kim asked in a panic.
"My system has been infected with a computer virus!" Wade cried before the Kimmunicator went black.
"Ha!" came a voice behind Kim, causing her to whirl around and see Mastermind "Did you really expect me not to come prepared? What can you do know without your tech support? In a few moments, we will be living in a world of simians!"
"Not if I can help it" Ron said through gritted teeth. Summoning the full power of his MMP, Ron surged at Mastermind before thrusting out his palms, unleashing an invisible blast that sent Mastermind flying and crashing to floor, out cold.
With his enemy beaten for now, Ron quickly ran up to the console.
"Okay, there's got to be some way to reprogram those missiles" he was saying.
"Ron, are you sure about this?" Kim asked nervously.
"It's our only chance" Ron said before turning back to the console in front of him "Okay, I hope this works".
With that, he quickly pushed half a dozen buttons and pulled three levers. Looking to the screen, Kim and Ron watched as the three missiles deviated from their routes and flew upward into space before crashing into each other in a spectacular explosion.
The danger over, Kim sighed with relief before turning to he partner.
"Nice going, Ron" she said proudly "Once again, your dumb skill saves the day".
"Uh, not exactly" Ron said as he rubbed the back of his head "This was too risky to leave it to chance, so I actually had to do some thinking before I acted".
"Wait, so" Kim said in surprise "You knew what you were doing?"
"Yeah, pretty much" Ron said sheepishly.
A feeling of shock passed over Kim, followed by a feeling of even greater pride for her boyfriend, leading her to give him a massive hug.
"Way to go, Potential Boy" she said before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Just then, the pair heard a groan and looked to see Mastermind getting back to his feet.
"Well, well, well" he said "It appears I'm not the only super genius around here".'
"And it looks like it's game over for you, Bobo" Ron taunted.
"I beg to differ" Mastermind replied with a smirk "Just because you've foiled this plan doesn't mean I'm done".
Before the pair could approach Mastermind, he held up the remote he had used to launch the missiles and pushed the button. In an instant, smoke filled the room, obscuring everything from Kim and Ron's view.
"You haven't seen the last of Mastermind" the villainous chimp's voice echoed in the fog. When the smoke cleared, Kim and Ron were alone.
"He's gone" Kim said.
Quickly, Ron ran out of the chamber to check out the corridors. A moment later, he came back.
"And so is his entire army" he said.
"Wouldn't you know the rookie mastered the villain escape trick?" Kim groused.
Ron would've said something to perk her up, but at that moment, what sounded like beeping caught their ears. Whirling around, they saw a timer on the screen that read 00:06…

"Run!" Kim cried as she and Ron took off.
However, it was too late. Explosives sounded off behind them, destroying the chamber they were just in. As concussive blasts sounded around them, they felt rumbling as the mountain began to collapse. Quickly, they reached the entrance they used to enter and leaped over the side just as the final blast went off. The pair landed in the jungle as the mountain completely exploded into rubble. When it was all over, Kim and Ron crawled out of the bushes, covered in smudge but no worse for the ware.
"So" Ron said with a cough "Do you think he did that for the insurance?" receiving a groan from Kim before the two got up and started back towards the Sloth.
