Gokudera took a pack of cigarette from his pocket and lit one, placing it between his lips. He walked along the dim-lit streets with one hand inside the pocket of his black pants. He puffed, smoke coming of out his mouth.

He'd just received a call from Tsuna to see him at Vongola's base in Namimori first thing in the morning.

He found it rather easy for him to keep Haru's condition a secret before. Tsuna and Gokudera rarely talked about personal things, most of their conversation only revolved around the mafia organizations, whom to make allies with and whom not to trust. He never spoke of Haru ever since Gokudera reported that she was living peacefully with her parents in Namimori. From that time, he rarely saw Tsuna mulling over Haru that much, although he could not say the same when Tsuna's behind the closed doors of his bedroom in the Vongola mansion in Italy.

I bet juddaime already found out that I've kept his child a secret from him and will confront me tomorrow. He thought distressfully. Even though he wasn't sure what kind of face to show his boss, as his right-hand man, he had to see Tsuna.

Gokudera threw his cigarette on the ground and crushed it with his shoe. Stomping on it for the last time. He ruffled his silver hair in frustration and cursed out lout. How did he get himself in a complicated situation like this?

"Sora's been asking about him recently" Haru started. "His father"

Gokudera remained quiet, staring down at the tea between his hands and listened patiently as he waited for her next words. Both of them expected for this day to come. It was inevitable as the child would surely look for a father figure sooner or later.

"I thought… I thought I would be enough" she continued. "I thought that maybe If I gave him love and attention that was more that he needed, he wouldn't need to look for a father"

Gokudera couldn't look at her, he didn't want to see the disheartened look on her face. And he definitely didn't need to see her expression as he spoke, as gently as he could. "Isn't it about time he knew?"

From his peripheral vision he saw Haru frown, her hands gripping her skirt. He clearly knew that she wasn't delighted with his statement, but he was just stating a fact. She can't keep her child a secret from Tsuna forever.

"We're not having this conversation again, Gokudera-kun"

"but haru— "

"Mama...?"

Gokudera was cut off as soon as he heard the voice of a little boy coming from the entrance of the living room. His eyes widened as soon as his eyes landed on the boy. This was the first time he had seen the boy up close and saw the striking resemblance the child had with his boss. It was like seeing the child version of his boss wearing a blue matching pajama's with cloud prints on it.

A genuine smile crept to Gokudera's face.

Sora rubbed his left eye as the other gradually opens. "Ah! Sora, what are you doing out of bed?" Haru immediately made her way to her son's side. "Come on let's go back upstairs" she says and holds her son's hand as they began to head back to his bedroom. But then the boy stops as he sees Gokudera.

"Papa?"

The boy's words stopped Haru's tracks, and the he took this as an opportunity to release himself from her hold and ran towards Gokudera. "Papa!" The boy cried as he held onto the man's leg.

"Sora," Haru quickly pried her away from Gokudera. "I'm sorry, Gokudera-kun" She muttered apologetically.

Yet Gokudera kneeled down and slowly took the crying boy in his arms, slowly stroking his hair. "Sorry, I took so long, Sora" Gokudera utters. "Papa's finally home"

Gokudera kicked the can in front of him, sending it flying away to some place he couldn't care less.

He didn't know what came over him that day. When he saw the boy crying as it clung on his leg, he felt his heart ache and he just couldn't let the boy down. He knew what it was like, growing up with only one parent. In his case, he grew up without a mother. Although there was Bianchi's mother, she never really cared for Gokudera that much, as he wasn't truly her son. There was his real mother, Lavina whom he thought was just a person who often comes to visit him and teach how to play the piano but sooner found out was his biological mother, but was already too late. She had already died from a car crash.

Perhaps it was foolish of him to let his emotions get the best of him. If he really wanted the boy to have a father he could've just told his boss about the child and everything would've been solved. But he considered Haru's feelings. He thought about how he had agreed to promise her that he would keep them a secret.

Or maybe he was just making up these excuses to cover up his real reason.

He began walking back home and gradually made his way towards the room he and Haru shared as quietly as he could, not wanting to alarm and wake the two.

The bed made a creaking sound as he laid on it, using his arms as a pillow. He glanced at Haru, who had her back turned to him. "Oi haru, are you asleep?" he muttered.

What kind of idiot would ask that to a sleeping person? He thought. I guess I really am Baka-dera.

He then turned to his side, using his elbow and arm as support for his weight. He peeks at Haru's sleeping face.

Gokudera could only observe her face up close during times like these. He awed at how long Haru's eyelashes were and curled upward towards the end. He then pokes her cheek where her dimples were supposed to be. He brushed the back of his index finger down face, feeling its softness against his skin. Haru groaned a bit and her eyebrows furrowed.

He laid back on his side of the bed and pretended to be asleep, anxious that his actions might have woken her. But then he relaxed when he heard Haru snore. He held back a chuckle. He slowly opened his eyes and reached out to play with a strand of her dark brown hair between his index and thumb. He recalled the first time he saw her with short hair.

"Why'd 'you cut your hair?"

"Haru got tired of the ponytail hairstyle so she went to a hairdresser to cut it short, just for a change"

"Isn't that a part of the moving on phase or whatever girls do after break-ups"

Gokudera wanted to slap his old self for saying that insensitive statement. He saw how it affected her as she only sat quietly while staring at the Ice cream she bought.

"Looks good on you"

He said in an attempt to cheer her up, and fortunately it did.

"eh? Is Gokudera-kun slowly falling for Haru's beauty?" she teased.

"W-who'd fall for a stupid woman like you?!"

"Hahi! When will you stop calling Haru stupid Aho-dera!"

He recalled his words back then. He wouldn't deny that over the years he had found the woman quite attractive. Or maybe Haru had always been this attractive, he just didn't acknowledge her back then except for when she's 'harassing' his boss. He chuckled as he remembered every attempt Haru made for his boss to see her as a romantic interest and not just a friend. Gokudera believed her attempts were futile for his boss only sees the boxing-idiot's orange haired sister. He was aware of Tsuna's feelings for Kyoko and often wondered why. Aside from having a pretty face, the girl was overall… dull.

On the other hand, Haru was eccentric, making her at least a bit more interesting. She's also strong and never once saw her let her emotions surface. She would always flash her bright smile that would make it seem that she's always happy even when sometimes he feels was just a façade to hide her brokenness inside. Her cheerful attitude made it easy to befriend her, or sometimes it was the other way around. She uses her optimism to befriend even the coldest of heart. And he knows she would do anything for her friends even if she had to put herself aside.

These were the reasons, he believed, why his boss had fallen in love with her.

He stared at her back. His hand reached out to hold her but halted just before it could even touch her arm. She was so close yet he couldn't seem to find it in himself to wrap his arms around her. He closed his fist and laid on his side turning his back against Haru.

His eyes widened as he felt her arm slide across his chest and felt as if she was trembling. He felt his heart beginning to pace, is she awake? He thought. He then heard her soft whimpers and muttered something that made him want to remove her hands from his body.

"Tsuna…"
