`Lily and Harry were deemed well enough to leave the Hospital Wing the next day. They walked down the grey corridors towards Dumbledore's office, the students parting like a wave before the astonished redhead, all eyes on her son's forehead. Some pupils grinned at her, some shook her hand, and when they reached their destination all the portraits gave them a round of applause. James grinned at her from in front of Dumbledore's desk.

"Our son's a bit of a hero, Lils.""Indeed he is, James. Be careful, pray, that it doesn't go to his head," replied Dumbledore, coming down the spiral staircase, "or yours."

"Don't worry. I'll make sure that doesn't happen.," interjected Lily, smiling sweetly at Albus and cuffing James around the back of the head. He smiled sheepishly.

"I asked you here this morning to discuss what is to happen after you leave the castle," Dumbledore continued. Lily and James nodded nervously. "You could, of course, return to Godrics Hollow. I'm not sure, however, if this would be for the best- all remaining death eaters know the location of your old home and I'm afraid the cottage may not be fixable."

The two Potters exchanged looks.

"So where are we going to…""Well…do you happen to know Molly and Arthur Weasley?"Lily smiled and nodded, but James merely looked confused. Dumbledore continued. "She used to be Molly Prewitt, before she married Arthur. They were in the Order, but Arthur couldn't enter the battle outright, I'm afraid, as he was our spy at the Ministry."

James face had lit up in recognition when he heard the name Prewitt.

"Molly Prewitt? Oh yeah, she used to be always at our house with her mother when I was younger."

"Yes, she's a lovely woman. One of their son's is just a few months older than Harry. They live in the lovely village of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon. I was wondering if perhaps you would like to move somewhere closer to the other wizarding families with small children?""Would you mind if we discussed this a minute, Albus?" James asked, and Dumbledore smiled, humming the new Weird Sisters tune as he took out a sherbet lemon and moved to the balcony.

"Lilypad, you sure this is what you want? You don't want to stay in Godrics Hollow?"Lily looked torn. "James, I love Godrics Hollow, you know I do. I love Bathilda and the little church but I think we need to get away. We should go back some time, of course, but for now I think we need a change of scenery. And it would be good for Harry to have some friends his age."

"Yeah…but Lils, it was home."

Lily leaned her head against his, and looked deep into his eyes. "Home isn't where a house is, love. For me it's where you and Harry are. It always will be."James sighed and nodded slowly, eyes all the time boring into Lily's. "You're right. You always are. Let's do it." He pressed a quick kiss to her lips before sitting up and looking for Dumbledore, who was humming now what sounded to Lily like 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'. James leant down and heaved Harry from the rug where he'd been playing with his stuffed hippogriff, giving his funny little nose another kiss before pulling Lily to her feet and leading her out onto the balcony. Dumbledore smiled and turned to face them.

"I assume you have made a decision?""We'll move."Dumbledore's smile widened. "Excellent. I have a lovely little house to show you, if you wouldn't object?"

Lily and James looked at one another before nodding. "Excellent, excellent. We'll have to floo, I'm afraid.""One cannot apparate in and out of Hogwarts grounds," Lily smiled.

"Precisely, Mrs Potter. Now shall we…? Lily, you go first with Harry."

Lily held Harry closer, took a handful of green powder from Dumbledore's proffered pot, and was just about to step into the fireplace before turning back towards Dumbledore.

"Um, Albus, where are we going?""Oh! Yes, I forgot to mention that, didn't I. It's Honeysuckle Cottage, Dimble Lane, Ottery St. Catchpole."

Lily nodded, stepped into the flames and said the address. Moments later she emerged, coughing, into a red tiled kitchen. It was obviously a wizards or witches house, since jars of neatly labelled dragon's vapour and newt eyes sat on the shelf above a large stove. Sunshine filtered through the large window, illuminating a solid wooden table and a doorway which lead out of the room.

A quick glance behind her into the fireplace showed her that James and Dumbledore weren't on their way yet, so Lily put Harry down, and walked over to the window. It was a lovely view- a garden, full of holly hocks and winter rosemary, leading out onto a single meadow, which in turn came out in a village, characterised by a number of Wizarding dwellings with dragon shaped chimneys, rooms at odd angles and a few children whizzing around on miniature broomsticks.

Lily smiled, and leant down to pick up Harry, who was pulling at her leg.

"Look Harry. It's our new home. Do you like it?" Harry merely gurgled in response, and their 'conversation' was interrupted by a crackling from the fireplace. Seconds later, an ash covered James Potter emerged from the green flames, closely followed by the ever serene Albus Dumbledore.

"Sorry love, Said 'Honeybuckle' instead of 'Honeysuckle'."

Lily just smiled and gestured towards the open window. He came and stood beside her, breathing in huge lungful of air, before turning and smiling at his wife. Dumbledore came and stood next to them. "It's rather charming, isn't it? I lived here for a few years once."

"Really?" asked Lily, curious.

"Oh yes. During the dragons blood investigation. Some seventy years ago now, of course. So, would you like to see the rest? It's rather basic, I'm afraid, two up and two down, but quite pleasant."The Potters nodded and Dumbledore lead them out of the small side door and into the comfy looking living room. It was painted a soft, duck egg blue, and had the same large windows. A door lead out onto a small street, only two other small houses were on either side. Another door lead out onto the garden, and the field that lead down to the village. In the corner was a spiral staircase. James smiled and gestured towards it.

"You and Harry go, Lils."

Lily's face paled and she froze where she stood. James touched her arm gently, worried eyes on his wife.

"Lils?"

She shut her eyes and breathed deeply, in and out. "Sorry love. Flashback."

She turned and started to walk up the curving steps, red hair swaying behind her, and James looked on confusedly. Harry gurgled in Lily's arms, and she emerged on to a landing, painted a subtle cream that from which lead three doors. They were all ajar, the first revealing a master bedroom in a shade of primrose yellow, the second a nursery (that had obviously been freshly painted) that was a deep blue with stars enchanted to shine like the night sky. The last was a bathroom- white tiled and clean. As Lily looked around, she smiled. Memories may still continue to haunt them, but for now, at least, she knew that here they could live in peace.
