|Chapter Four: Lilyflower, Giggles and Games|

August 7th, 1976

|Evelynn Dawson|

"Wow… this… is beautiful" I murmured, amazed by the sight.

I turned to look at Sirius and saw he was already looking at me with a smirk on his face. "I knew you'd appreciate it, my little nerd" he teased as he squeezed my hand playfully. I rolled my eyes and bumped my hip with his "Oh hush, I can't help it if I'm a bit of a bookworm!" I exclaimed. Sirius grinned and patted my head affectionately "I wouldn't have it any other way" he winked and I felt my cheeks flush from the comment. I looked away and released his hand so I could go explore this new room.

I can't believe James had a hidden library in his home! It was absolutely spectacular and I couldn't get enough of it. The number of books that lined the wall, it made my head spin as I looked at the countless number of shelves that lined the floor in rows. All the possibilities of the types of books that could be in here… I smiled and quickly turned back around to give Sirius a giant bear hug, he laughed and hugged me back just as hard. "Thank you for showing me this, it's absolutely amazing" I breathed into his chest. Sirius smirked and pulled me back so he could look at my face, but he kept his hands on my waist "You're welcome, Prongs told me that you were more than welcome to take whatever you liked and Mr. and Mrs. Potter agreed." He told me.

My mouth popped open and I grinned in excitement "Really?" I questioned and Sirius nodded his head and gestured around us at the shelves "Have at it" he replied before going to sit on the loveseat in the middle of the room- watching me. There were of course other couches and even a desk placed in the center. I grinned to myself and quickly made use of my time, the library was quite a spacious room- there was a beautiful wooden spiral staircase that wound up towards a second floor where I could see the tops of bookshelves, the walls seemed to be ingrained with the shelves (no wallpaper in sight) and it had a wonderful home feeling with the smell of books (obviously.) It was perfect and I excitedly trailed the spines with my fingers as I took in each book title.

"Sirius, we won't be found up here will we?" I questioned, poking my head behind one of the shelves so I could see him. "Don't worry love, Peter has no idea about this place and I'm sure James won't ruin our fun" he said, winking as he said fun. I rolled my eyes "Don't be a prat" I muttered before disappearing from his view. All I could hear in response was his bark like laugh, putting a small smile on my own features.

As I gazed at the books I noticed that it was actually very well organized and clearly Sirius and James didn't know that the library seemed to actually have been used in recent years- there were books that were only three years old on these shelves. I briefly wondered who collected all these books as I trailed my finger along the wooden edges, eventually I came to the conclusion that is was in fact Mr. and Mrs. Potter. Suddenly I found myself gazing at the romance section. I grinned, this was exactly what I wanted to find.

"Have you found something yet?" Sirius questioned, his voice seemed to be pretty far away.

"Hush, I'm trying to concentrate!" I exclaimed, reading each title and seeing which one appealed to me the most. I heard Sirius chuckle and muttered something about me and books but I ignored him as I found the title that enthralled me the most, I had been wanting to read this book for a while but I hadn't had the chance to actually go out and purchase it. Carefully I took the book from its place on the shelf and blew the dust off of it before taking my hand and brushing the excess dust off.

The Princess Bride, the 'good parts version' abridged by William Goldman.

A tale of true love, with splashes of hatred, fighting, fencing, revenge, death, lies, miracles and of course a smidge of sex. I had heard the book was absolutely amazing and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I clutched the book to my chest and made my way back to Sirius, I giggled when I found him practically sleeping on the loveseat. Quietly I made my way over to him, my intention on being scaring the wits out of him but of course I should have known better- he was a Marauder after all. But being the silly girl I was, I attempted to creep up on my best friend and just as I was about to yell something his eyes snapped open and a wicked grin took over his features.

The next thing I know Sirius is hovering on top of me as I lay on the couch with a bewildered look on my face.

"Nice try Foxy but you're going to have to try harder to get one on me" he smirked, looking quite proud with himself. I rolled my eyes and playfully swatted his chest with the book "Well I tried but mark my words Black- I will get you one day, now if you would so kindly get off of me…" I trailed off, giving him a look with my eyes. Sirius smirked and pretended to think about it "Hmm… I think not, I quite like it right here" he teased, an amused gleam in his eyes. I blushed and attempted to hide the flush with my hair "Well maybe you do but I, on the other hand, am not so crazy about it" I retaliated. Sirius chuckled and brought one hand to my cheeks, lightly running his finger over the redness. "That's not what your blush is saying…" he whispered teasingly.

I blushed darker from that comment.

"Sirius!"

Aforementioned boy huffed and reluctantly got off of me "You're no fun" he exclaimed as he sat up. I rolled my eyes and sat up myself, running a hand through my hair to calm my nerves down. "Well you're mean to me" I grumbled childishly as I leaned against his side and snuggled closer to his warm body- ignoring the butterflies that seemed to multiply in my stomach. Sirius wrapped his arm around my shoulder "So what did you choose?" he asked, peering at the book in my hand. I grinned and happily showed him. "The Princess Bride? Sounds silly" he mused as he picked the book from my hands and began to examine it.

I huffed and grabbed the book back "Well, you should never judge a book by its cover! I think it's going to be a wonderful read" I grumbled as I opened the front cover. Sirius chuckled "Sorry love, I didn't mean to upset you- I'm sure that the book is lovely" he amended. I shook my head and chuckled "Fine then, why don't you read it with me? Since you so graciously showed me this lovely room- why don't we read together?" I suggested, feeling a bit nervous towards the end of my sentence. I bit my lip in anticipation as I waited for his answer, shyly, I looked up and saw Sirius grinning at me "There's nothing I would love more" he answered.

I grinned "Wonderful, then you wouldn't mind reading first" I exclaimed, giving him my puppy dog look- he never could resist it. Sirius barked out another laugh and shook his head "Of course Foxy, I would love too" he caved as he opened the book to the first page. I smiled and quickly kissed his cheek "Thank you!" I exclaimed before settling down in his arms again. It was silent for a moment and I looked up to see Sirius staring at me with a weird look in his eyes. I furrowed my brows and poked his cheek "Anytime now would be wonderful" I said, snapping him from whatever he was doing. Sirius shook his head "Right, sorry about that love now where were we?" he asked. I gave him a flat look "At the beginning" I deadpanned. Sirius chuckled "Right well then…"

"I think it's time we stop for today"

I shook my head "No… just one more chapter- please Sirius?" I mumbled against his chest- I felt the pleasant rumble as he chuckled. "Considering you are about to fall asleep on me, I don't think so darling" he teased as he attempted to push me off of him. Stubbornly, I quickly attached my body to his like a koala- which wasn't entirely comfortable, mind you we were still on the couch and I was wearing a dress but I tried my best not to think about that, I was mostly focused on his warmth. "Fine, but just take the book with you- we'll read it before bed" I grumbled. Sirius laughed and placed the book in my hands before hoisting me up in his arms where I could rest comfortably (and yes I was still clinging to him like a koala but I did fix my dress so it still looked appropriate and I made sure his hands didn't wander.)

I smacked Sirius' hands away from my upper thighs and I leaned back to glare at him "No" I said, as if I was speaking to a dog- which was partially true. Sirius laughed and squeezed my thighs teasingly "Sorry love, couldn't help it" he teased. I rolled my eyes before turning back to rest my head in the crook of his neck.

I kept my eyes closed and enjoyed the calmness that radiated off if Sirius as we ventured off to find our friends, I felt guilty for leaving Lily with James for more than half the day but I'm sure we can make up for lost time- Sirius and I hadn't been reading that long, we had only read up until chapter two. "Do you think we won the game?" I questioned as I played with the ends of Sirius' hair, fiddling with the semi-long strands, watching as the lanterns fizzled out as we passed them. I felt Sirius grin against the side of my head "Of course we did love, we were in there for quite a while" he mused. I smirked "Brilliant. I absolutely loathe losing" I said, he laughed and nodded his head "I know that, that's why I took you to the secret library- no one knows about it" he stated proudly. I smiled and leaned back to see his face "And I am absolutely glad that you did" I thanked.

"My pleasure" he whispered before opening the secret door towards the Marauder Lair.

We, well Sirius, quietly crept back up the stairs and I grinned when I heard Lily's voice- I giggled, she of course was on one of her worry raves. "Don't you patronize me Potter, I have every right to be worried! Evelynn and Sirius have been gone for ages, what if he took her to join some weird wizard cult against her will? Or maybe-" she was effectively cut off by Sirius who quickly switched me so I was clinging onto his back piggyback style before sauntering into the room. "Or maybe we're right here" Sirius said, sounding quite amused at Lily's babbling. From behind her I could see the amusement in each of the Marauder's eyes and I rolled my eyes when James winked at me. "Evelynn! I was so worried! Where have you been? We looked all over for you!" Lily exclaimed with a huff before she fell against the couch, beside James might I add.

"Hiding" I answered with a secret smile.

Lily rolled her eyes and crossed her arms "Clearly, you two have been gone for over an hour!" she retorted. I smirked "So does that mean we win?" I questioned innocently. Lily groaned and nodded her head "Yes you daft girl, that is what it means but next time please try to respond when I am calling your name like a mad women! You left me all alone with these… these… Marauders!" she exclaimed as she waved a hand at the boys. I chuckled and hopped down from Sirius' back while dropping the book onto the side table before patting his arm in thanks. "Hmm… that's brilliant! That means Sirius and I get to choose the dare for the rest of you" I said evilly. Then I quickly walked over to Lily and tackled her into a hug. "Oh my darling Lilykins! I am terrible sorry for leaving you with these three hooligans! Will I ever be able to earn your forgiveness?!" I exclaimed dramatically as I squished her in a hug.

From around us I heard the boys laughing as Lily squirmed from beneath me.

"Get off me!" she exclaimed as she shoved me away from her person, but I knew she wasn't angry- the amount of giggles she was producing showed me that, I myself was conjuring my own giggles. "You two are mad" Sirius commented as he and the boys watched us with amused smiles on their faces. I grinned and winked at him "All the best witches are" I teased before standing up and stretching my arms up. "Come on Lilykins, let's go to my room and leave these boys to their devices" I decided and she nodded her head in agreement so I began to lead her upstairs. "Hey wait, where are you going?!" James called and we paused for a moment to look back at him.

I giggled "Didn't you just hear me Prongsie? I am taking Lilykins to my room so we can have some girl time!" I told him, speaking like I would to a five year old. James pouted and Sirius came up beside him with Moony and Wormtail at the rear- grinning like mad men. "Oh come on Evie, don't you want to spend more time with us?" Sirius coaxed. I rolled my eyes but smiled nonetheless "Considering I spent half the day with you- no not particularly, Lily and I need a good boy talk!" I teased. Immediately the Marauder's tensed and looked at us with owl-like expressions, Lily and I giggled at them. I quickly grabbed Lily's hand and dragged her up the stairs before shoving her into my room. I quickly popped back to the top of the stairs to see the boys still standing there, but this time they had mischievous expressions on their faces. I narrowed my eyes and placed my hands on my hips "See you boys! And don't even think about listening in, you'll regret it! Between Lily and I… I'm sure you can come up with the consequences we might have" I warned before quickly running to my room and closing my door.

I found Lily lying on my bed and quickly I joined her, sitting in silence for a moment.

"So what did you and Black do? You were gone for quite a while…" she goaded, giving me a sly grin. I rolled my eyes "Oh, um he took me to a room full of books- it was absolutely amazing!" I gushed "We were just reading- I found The Princess Bride and he began to read to me" I admitted. Lily squealed "That's adorable! Black actually read to you? That book is one of my favourites, you have to finish it!" she exclaimed. I blushed "We will, I decided that we are going to read one chapter every night" I told her. Lily giggled "Aw Evie, how cute! You and Black, reading together- I think I smell love in the air" she teased. I rolled my eyes and shoved her shoulder "Oh hush, there is nothing going on- we are just two friends reading together, don't you insinuate anything from it!" I retorted.

Lily snorted "That's what you say now but when you two are married with adorable little babies- I have every right to say I told you so!" she threatened.

I stuck my tongue out at her "Lily! We are not going to get married and have children!" I exclaimed.

She smirked and gave me a sly wink "Not yet at least" she taunted.

My stomach erupted in butterflies, my heart almost jumped from my chest just thinking about dating Sirius- marriage was completely out of the question, plus I was only fifteen [almost sixteen] for goodness sake!

I huffed and crossed my arms before a thought came to me and I smirked deviously.

"So Lilyflower how was hide and seek with James?" I questioned, smirking as she turned the same colour as her hair. She huffed "I could ask you the same love, even though I already know there wasn't much hiding going on with you too" she retorted as she rolled onto her stomach. I blushed and rolled my eyes, sitting up so I could rest against the headboard. "You first" I proposed, Lily stuck her tongue out at me before nodding her head in agreement. "Well to be quite honest, as conceited and annoying as that arrogant toerag can be… he was kind of a gentleman today" she admitted, attempting to hide behind her fiery locks. I smirked and gave a playful shove on her shoulder "I told you James wasn't that bad" I teased. Lily rolled her eyes "Just because he was decent for one afternoon doesn't mean my opinion has changed" she muttered haughtily. I laughed and shook my head "Not yet anyways" I taunted, giving her a wink.

"Oh hush up" Lily rolled her eyes before snatching my pillow and whacking me in the face with it, giggling at my bewildered expression. "Lily!" I exclaimed, she giggled and gave me an innocent look "What?" she teased. I laughed and snatched the pillow from her hands "Take this!" I yelled as I smacked her with the fluffy pillow. Lily shrieked and we both erupted into laughter as she grabbed another pillow from the bed to begin her counter-attack. "Lily!" I shouted as she smacked me in the face, I let out a battle cry and launched myself at her. "Take this!" I shouted, Lily laughed "Evelynn!" she shrieked as we both fell onto the floor. I caught Lily's eye and we both erupted into more laughter as we began to hit each other with the pillows.

Best. Pillow. Fight. Ever.

"Nice, girl on girl action! Nice knickers Foxy, but I think I like the red ones better."

Immediately Lily and I stopped our fighting and looked towards the door, James, Remus and Sirius were all standing at the threshold- watching our fight. My eyes widened when I realized what Sirius had said, I blushed and quickly pulled my dress down- not realizing it had ridden up during our pillow fight. Sirius smirked "Oh don't stop on our account" he teased. "Please, continue" James said as he gestured towards our pillows. I caught Lily's eyes and we burst out laughing. "Uh-oh Prongs, I think they've finally cracked" Sirius tutted, for some reason that just made us laugh even harder- I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. I peeked over at James and saw he was smirking at the two of us. "Well Padfoot, there's only one way to fix it, right Moony?" he said as he winked at his friend. Remus smirked and nodded his head "Best to tickle the laughter out of them- get it all out of their system" he deduced.

My eyes widened and I shared a panicked look with Lily.

"Run!" I shouted at her as James and Sirius leaped at us (I noticed that Peter was nowhere to be found.)

Quickly we scrambled to our feet and I went one way while Lily went the other, but that didn't work too well considering the bed was in the way but somehow I was able to dodge Sirius' first attack. Unfortunately for Lily, James had already caught her and I could hear her laughter from behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw that Sirius was catching up, I thanked Merlin that the room was fairly big and I made it to the door but unfortunately for me I ran into someone's chest. I looked up and blinked "Remmy!" I exclaimed, trying to move past him. Remus chuckled "Sorry Foxy" he teased before wrapping his arms around me- trapping me in an embrace.

No matter how nice Remus was I always needed to remember that he was in fact a Marauder and he was prone to mischief.

"Thanks Moony, now pass the little vixen over" Sirius' voice said from behind me. Remus grinned and happily handed me over to Sirius. Instantly I burst out into laughter as he threw me on the bed and began to tickle me. "Sirius!" I shouted as my laughter mixed with Lily's and she shouted a "Potter!" our voices sounding slightly hysterical. Sirius smirked from above me and straddled me by my waist as his fingers continued their merciless attack. "Hahahaha- Sirius- let- met- go!" I said between my laughter, tears rushing from my eyes. Sirius grinned "I'm sorry love, what was that?" he teased. I had no idea what was going on with Lily now, totally focused on the devil in front of me. "I- can't- breath!" I wheezed out after a while, Sirius chuckled and quickly stopped tickling me.

"Feeling better?" he teased, brushing the hair from my face.

My chest heaved up and down as I attempted to catch my breath, my body and face feeling extremely flushed. I peered over the bed and saw Lily in the same state as James grinned from ear to ear beside her. I flopped back down onto the bed and Sirius rolled beside me "You guys are gits" I announced, shooting a glare at the three boys. Remus gave me a sheepish smile before walking over to the desk to sit on the chair. Sirius chuckled from beside me "You have to admit though, that was pretty fun" he grinned. I rolled my eyes and smacked his chest "Maybe for you! Lily and I are winded now!" I exclaimed. From the floor Lily nodded her agreement "Torture is illegal you know" she teased. I giggled "We should have you punished for that" I taunted.

Sirius smirked and sat up on his elbow "Punish away darling" he gestured towards his body with the other hand "I don't mind if you're the one dishing it out" he winked.

I rolled my eyes and smacked his chest "Don't be a prat" I muttered, a blush coating my cheeks.

"So why did you boys decide to barge in here? I thought Evie told you it was girl time" Lily said as she stood up to sit next to me on the bed. I sighed and sat up with her "Yeah, this is girl time and last time I remember you three weren't girls" I pointed out, crossing my arms with a meaningful look. James sat up and crossed his legs "You girls had enough time to talk earlier! Besides it's already 5 o'clock and I'm hungry" he whined. I rolled my eyes "Let me guess, you want me to make some dinner?" I guessed. James gave me a sheepish smile, as did the rest of the boys "Please" they muttered in unison. I turned to look at Lily and she giggled at me "As much fun as that sounds, I've got to get going" she said.

I frowned "Already? Come on Lilykins, stay for dinner!" I invited. Lily shook her head and smiled apologetically "Sorry Evie, I have a family dinner tonight" she said. I pouted and crossed my arms "Fine, but next time you are definitely staying!" I demanded. Lily smiled and nodded her head "Whatever you say Evie" she agreed as she stood. I stood up with her and together we walked towards the fireplace so she could floo back, the boys following behind us.

"Thanks for coming Lils, today was wonderful! I'll see you at Diagon Alley- usual time and place?" I questioned. Lily nodded and gave me a hug "Of course and you better not be late! I do not want to be waiting around for half an hour again!" she exclaimed. I laughed into her shoulder and nodded "You got it! I promise to be right on time" I swore. We pulled away and Lily turned towards the three boys behind us "It was lovely seeing you Remus, Sirius and… James… thank you for having me over" she said, giving each boy a hug. I chuckled, James looked like he had died and gone to heaven. Lily pulled away and I handed her some floo powder, with one final wave she shouted her destination and vanished in a puff of green smoke.

I sighed, now to deal with my boys.

"Alright you lazy buggers, what do you want for dinner? Oh and by the way, where's Peter?" I asked.

"Wormtail said he had a family dinner to go to, and speaking of dinner… I'm in the mood for meat" Sirius said, smacking his lips together. I saw James' and Remus' eyes light up as Sirius said meat "Brilliant idea Padfoot!" James congratulated while Remus nodded his agreement. I rolled my eyes and began to walk into the kitchen "Marauder's and their meet" I muttered. I walked to the sink and began washing my hands, when I was finished I turned around and saw the boys were sitting at the table- looking at me with innocent expressions. I placed my hands on my hips and shook my head "Nice try but if you want dinner, you're going to have to help me" I stated.

I smiled as Remus sighed and stood up to wash his hands, I kissed his cheek as he walked by "This is why you are my favourite" I announced, Remus smirked triumphantly. I giggled at the disgruntled looks on the other two's faces before they reluctantly stood and followed Remus's example, of course getting their own kisses- Sirius seemed to be in a better mood after that. "Right boys this is how things are going to work: James you will make the salad, Remmy I want you to cook up some vegetables- the usual ones and Sirius you can mash the potatoes, got it?" I ordered. The boys gave me a mock salute and nodded their head "Yes ma'am!" they shouted. I rolled my eyes and tied the apron around my front before grabbing the stake from the fridge.

"Brilliant, now let's get to work"

"Hahaha, you guys are idiots! I leave you alone for two minutes and this is what I come back to?" I questioned, trying (and failing) to keep my giggles in.

The boys gave me sheepish looks and my eyes widened and I let out a full hearted laugh when a piece of salad dressing fell from James's hair and onto his nose. Still giggling, I grabbed a couple of paper towels and began to wipe the boys clean from their mess. I had gone to the washroom for a minute and when I came back the kitchen was covered in lettuce and somehow the dressing was sprayed everywhere as well. When I got off as much food as I could I threw the paper towels out and ordered each of them to take a shower. After they left, I quickly finished up dinner and quickly cleaned the kitchen of their mess.

*Pop*

"Mmm… something smells delicious!"

I rung out the cloth in the sink and turned around to see Mr. and Mrs. Potter standing at the threshold. I grinned "Mrs. P, Mr. P! Welcome back, I hope you don't mind but the boys and I made dinner" I said, gesturing towards the dinner table. The Potter's smiled and shook their heads "How many times must we tell you, it's Sarah and Jude honey- Of course not, this house is as much yours as it is ours- you know you're like a daughter to us!" Sarah exclaimed as she came to give me a hug. "Besides, you are a wonderful cook!" she complimented. I grinned "Thanks Sarah."

"Speaking of which, where are those troublemakers?" Jude questioned as he sat down at the head of the table. I smirked "I sent them to get cleaned up, I went to the bathroom and came back to the kitchen in a complete mess- merlin knows what they were doing" I explained. Sarah rolled her eyes "Those boys, I remember the first time James brought Sirius home- it was like a hurricane wentw off in his room!" she reminisced.

"Mum, we weren't that bad!" James whined as he walked in the room with Sirius.

"Yeah Mrs. P, all we did was wrestle" Sirius reasoned.

"With Pillows" James added.

"And popcorn, don't forget the popcorn Prongs. I remember I got one stuck up your nose!" Sirius exclaimed.

Remus and I burst out laughing "I think I still have a picture of that!" I exclaimed. James and Sirius gave me a bewildered look "How did you get a picture of that?" they exclaimed. I smirked and nodded towards Sarah "Sarah was gracious enough to make a copy for me" I replied cheekily.

"Mum!"

"Mrs. P!"

Sarah smirked at her boys, waving a hand dismissively at the "Oh hush now, it's dinner time- now stop whining and come eat the dinner that Evie made" she ordered as she sat down. James huffed "We helped!" he exclaimed as he sat next to his mother, I grinned and sat across from him with Sirius on one side of me while Remus was on the other. Sarah smirked at her son and patted his head lovingly "And I'm sure the water tastes wonderful honey" she teased as she took a sip from her water. I giggled as James scowled "Don't pout honey, it's not becoming of you" Sarah chastised. James sighed and dropped the look.

"Let's just eat" he grumbled irritably. I glanced at Remus as he chuckled from beside me "Always the Mama's boy that one" he whispered and I smirked "You've got that right Remmy!" I agreed. James had always been a mama's boy and to be honest it was quite adorable. "So Evie, did your friend Lily come over today?" Sarah questioned before taking a bite of steak. I snickered as James's attitude immediately perked at the mention of Lily. I nodded my head "Yeah, thank you for allowing her to come over! Merlin knows I needed some girl time" I joked. "I resent that, why have girl time when you can have Marauder time?" Sirius questioned in a joking matter. Sarah and I rolled our eyes as the other two agreed with him.

"Boys it's either girl time or you listen time" Mr. Potter, Jude, reminded them.

Sarah glared at her husband "Do you have a problem with listening to me honey?" she questioned. Jude's eyes widened and the rest of us snickered at his expression "Err, no honey that's not what I meant!" he denied. Sarah made a "Uh-huh" noise and took another hard bite of her meat. Jude winced and gulped- the boys and I were trying to hold in our laughter.

"Anyway, I think my Lilyflower is finally coming around" James announced proudly, taking the attention away from his father- who gave a thankful sigh. Sarah squealed in delight "That's wonderful Jamesy! Now when do we get to meet this lovely girl?" she questioned. I laughed and shook my head "Probably not for a long time Mrs. P, what James means is that Lils is slowly beginning to stop hating him- I don't think she'll be confessing her love any time soon" I pointed out. Sarah frowned "Oh why not? My Jamesy is a wonderful boy! He may be a prankster but he has such a beautiful heart" she gushed as she pinched James's cheeks.

Sirius, Remus and Mr. Potter all burst out laughing as I snickered. James gave an affronted look but there was a slight blush on his cheeks from his mum's words.

"What, is this gang up on James day or something?" he grumbled.

I laughed and scooped up another spoonful of mashed potatoes "Oh don't be silly Jamesy, that day is every day!"

"So cruel Evie, so cruel"

"So Evelynn, is there any… special boy in your life"

I blanched and quickly stopped drying the dishes, a blush forming over my cheeks. "Err… no… not at the moment" I lied- I definitely was not going to tell her about my latest attraction to a certain silver eyed Marauder, well not yet at least. She sighed and continued washing "That's too bad, you know I was really hoping that things would work out between you and James" she pouted. "You two were the cutest couple, it's too bad we had to break the engagement" she said sadly. I blushed even darker and quickly put the last plate away "Um… I'm going to go up and see the boys, see you later Mrs. P!" I quickly exclaimed as I scrambled out of the kitchen.

I loved Sarah like a mother but did she really need to bring up the engagement?

It made me sick just thinking about it.

"James!" I exclaimed when I burst into the room, Remus had left a couple minutes after dinner so it was just James and Sirius. "Evie!" he exclaimed right back as I dove in for a hug. "What's up?" he questioned, I sighed and pulled away from him so I could fall back against the bed. "Your mum is trying to set us up again" I exclaimed. Sirius's face popped over mine as he gave me a bewildered look "I thought Mrs. P was all for James and Lily? Hold on a minute… Again?" he questioned- sounding completely confused. I turned slightly to give James an equally confused look "You mean you haven't told him?" I asked. James shrugged his shoulders and gave me a sheepish look "No, it… uh never came up?" he admitted, making it sound more like a question.

"Would one of just tell me what the bloody hell you are talking about?" Sirius exclaimed.

I rolled my eyes and sat up properly "Well you see, Sarah is now one hundred percent for Lily an James but you know how our parents have been friends since Hogwarts?" I questioned, leaning back against the headboard- Sirius wrapped his arm around my shoulder and nodded his head. "Well… last year when you couldn't come over for the summer…" I trailed off and snuck a look at James, mentally telling him to continue the story, he shook his head, I rolled my eyes- of course he didn't want to tell the rest. "Yeah…" Sirius prompted. I sighed "Well James and I were sort of engaged since birth and last summer we decided to… try… dating…" I muttered.

"WHAT!?" Sirius yelled, sounding quite appalled- his arm flying off of me.

Sirius froze and stared wide eyed at the two of us. "You're engaged!?" he exclaimed, throwing a scathing look at James who quickly shook his head.

"No! Not anymore mate, Evie said we tried dating and were engaged and well that didn't work out so well…" he muttered.

I snorted "Of course not, you are like a brother to me James- the whole relationship felt incestuous!" I exclaimed.

I felt Sirius release a tense breath "Well… what happened?" he asked.

I shrugged and leaned back into him "Well… James is obviously in love with Lils and I clearly didn't like him that way so we talked to our parents and the engagement and relationship ended quickly" I explained.

Sirius nodded his head "Did you guys ever… kiss?" he questioned hotly.

My face heat up and I glared at James- telling him to answer that question.

James scratched the back of his already messy hair "Err… depends on what you mean by kiss" he avoided. I groaned and shimmied away from Sirius so I could press my face into a pillow. "Yes okay? We kissed- once and it was only because Sarah made us!" I exclaimed. James groaned "No offense Evie but I'm still trying to forget it." James muttered. I rolled my eyes and threw the pillow at his face "You and me both you twat" I exclaimed. I looked at Sirius and saw he was giving each of us a calculating look.

"So you don't have feelings for each other?" he questioned, sounding slightly... Jealous?

I quickly shook my head along with James "Hell no, I love James but only as a brother" I said, patting said boy on the head affectionately. "That's right mate, Evie is just a sister to me- I love my Lilyflower" James agreed. I chuckled "All we have to do is get your Lilyflower to admit she has feelings for you too" I snickered. James gave me a confident look "Don't you worry Foxy, I've got everything under control" he stated proudly. I rolled my eyes but smiled nonetheless "Whatever you say Prongs, but just remember I'm still waiting for you to beg for my help" I teased. Sirius burst out laughing and James gave me a mock annoyed look. "You'll see! I'll have my Lilyflower before we graduate!" he said determinedly. I giggled "Alright Potter, but when you and Lily get married I have dibs on being the godmother of your child!" I called.

James smirked "You've got a deal Foxy" he agreed.

"Hey! I call being godfather!" Sirius exclaimed.

I grinned and high fived him "That child will be corrupted in no time!" I exclaimed. Sirius chuckled "Better not let Evans here you saying that love, she would probably kill you for that" he teased. I chuckled "Well it's a good thing Lils isn't here then, isn't it?" I retorted. "Lilyflower" James murmured wistfully, a strange look coming over his face. Sirius and I burst out laughing "James! Snap out of it!" I shouted, throwing a pillow at his face. The pillow hit its desired target but unfortunately for James I may have used a little too much power and he fell off of the bed.

It was silent for a moment, until I looked at Sirius and we burst out laughing.

James sat up and huffed at me, causing even more laughter to come from Sirius and me. "Oh James, it looks like a bird just threw up on you!" I exclaimed, gesturing to the amount of feather mussed up in his hair. "What is with you and feathers" James exclaimed as he climbed back onto the bed. I shrugged and plucked a feather from his hair "Sometimes these things just happen, it's not like I meant for the pillow to burst open" I exclaimed. James rolled his eyes and pointed a finger at me "You better watch out Foxy" he threatened. Sirius jumped up from beside me "Hey, I want in on this action- I still need to get this vixen back for her artwork" he exclaimed.

I rolled my eyes and playfully shoved his shoulder "Oh shove off, you already got your revenge by tickling me senseless!" I said. Sirius smirked "No sweetheart that was just the beginning" he teased. I smirked and stood from the bed "Game on boys, game on." I challenged before sauntering from the room and giving an exaggerated hair flip. Unfortunately for me, my clumsiness came into play and I tripped on the way out so my badass exit… yeah not so badass anymore. James and Sirius began to laugh, I stood up and quickly shot them glares "Laugh now while you still can, you won't even know what hit you!" I exclaimed as I tried to redeem my dignity. The boys continued to laugh, I crossed my arms and frowned "What are you going to do? Fall on us?" James teased. Sirius smirked and gave me a suggestive look "You know I wouldn't mind it at all if you did love" he flirted, patting his lap. I rolled my eyes and scowled at him before turning on my heel and walking from the room, attempting to hide the blush that rose on my cheeks.

Stupid Sirius Black, making me all embarrassed and flustered.

Merlin's beard, what is wrong with me?
