A/C - I've used 'The Plastics' in this story, which is a name taken from the film Mean Girls, being the inspiration for this story. Therefore, I obviously don't own anything from Mean Girls or Sonic the Hedgehog! Also, the pranks listed in this chapter were found on the internet and suggested by friends - please don't try them and then sue me, because they're quite mean and probably don't work xD
Thank you to: ProwerPower85, Fables-and-FairyTale, hannahtranter16, Blazing-SongBird, Wolf star1500, djaik-niffsta and SpeedsMyGame!
ProwerPower85 - I am so glad to hear that! :'D Thank you ever so much! Aw, Tailsmo is adorable ;3
Fables-and-FairyTale - Thank you very much for your review! Poor ol' Sonic! -.-"
hannahtranter16 - Thank you! ^.^ N'aww! Hehe, Sonic is certainly an enigma... ;D
Blazing-SongBird - Aw, thank you so much! It warms my heart to hear that!
Wolf star1500 - Thank you! :D
djaik-niffsta - It makes me extremely happy to hear that, thank you! Ah, yes, ScarstarOfMountainClan's "It Started in the Cafeteria" is a great story which I have read and loved since writing MMG and there are certainly similarities, due to high school plots and very similar ships, but I have taken MMG on a very different path, rest assured :D
SpeedsMyGame - I'm not actually, I'm British, as we write 'Mum' in the same way. That's really cool that your family is from Vic — I'd love to visit Australia, one day! :D

Chapter Four - This Means War
(...Amy's P.O.V...)
Damn, I thought. He's done it again.
I watched the corridor — void of a blue hedgehog — for a couple of seconds. I cursed myself for not asking "How come we bumped into each other?" or "Where did you go, yesterday?" or even "So, um, wanna hang out sometime?" But my thoughts were broken by the others.
"Amy? Are you okay?" Cosmo asked, gingerly approaching.
"Yeah, you look a little lost..." Blaze lowered her voice, only audible to me, "Where'd Sonic go?"
I turned to them, smiling warmly, "He zoomed off. I guess I'm gonna have to get used to that," Raising my head, the others naturally spread back and welcomed me into the conversation. Silver waved and Knuckles nodded, with a smile etched on his face.
"So, you and Sonic, eh?" He grinned, deviously.
"So not," I sighed, "What about you and Rouge?"
Knuckles growled, lowly, with a blush spreading across his face. Flirtatiously, Rouge smirked and placed her arm around the echidna's shoulder, "Oh, yes. Knuckie's all mine," She purred, making the rest of us laugh. Knuckles knocked her off, glaring.
"Rouge!" He warned. She pouted at him, but placed her hands firmly on her hips.
"Are all of you going to Cream's house, today?" Cosmo asked, changing the subject. We nodded.
"Yep, you can count us in!" Silver shifted his weight, causing him to move closer to Blaze. I smiled at him, knowingly, before he raised an eyebrow in response. I decided not to say anything.
"As long as Rouge doesn't do her horrific Truth or Dare game," Blaze added, shooting a suggestive look at the bat.
Rouge rolled her eyes, "Aw, c'mon, don't be a spoilsport, Blaze. My dares are brilliant!"
"Sure, 'cause last time, sticking my head down the toilet was great fun," Knuckles snapped back, making me snicker. Rouge heard me, eyes lighting up.
"Exactly! It was funny!" Rouge sighed, sauntering off in the direction of her class. The rest of us followed and we broke out into smaller conversations. I kept my gaze on Rouge. I was envious; she had the confidence of a model and it showed in her walk. A few boys' heads turned. I wondered how Knuckles felt about that, but he didn't seem to notice. He was glancing at his phone, squinting. Strange. I didn't have Knuckles down as a gadget guy.
"Hey, guys!" A voice called out. I recognised it, smiling when I saw Tails running towards us. His rucksack swung from side to side as he ran, looking rather adorable.
"Tails!" Cosmo had a broad smile on her face, as her blue eyes shone. I gave her a side-on glance, with my mouth curving into a smile. But she gave a well-timed cough and shyly looked away.
I turned to Silver and Blaze. They had embarked on a long discussion about the achievements and failures of Harry Potter and Twilight. Silently, I had to agree with Silver — I adored vampire stories — but Blaze had presented a very persuading argument and was heavily invested in it.
"Okay, Amy, you have the final say. Which is better?" Blaze asked, as Silver put his hands together and mouthed at me 'please, please, please!' I smiled, feeling bad for Blaze.
"Sorry, Blaze. Twilight wins," I laughed as Silver cheered and the lavender cat folded her arms in a huff.
"The world is ending!" She moaned.
The Science block corridor came into view. From my deciphering of the timetable, I knew that Tails and I had Chemistry together, so we waved to the others and he told me the basics of the past few lessons. I couldn't help but notice Sally, on the other side of the hall, with annoyingly beautiful, blue heels and an angry glare. Unfortunately, it appeared that we shared this class. Fortunately, however, the bell rang and I could break away from her fixed stare.
"Well, that was tedious," I muttered, clutching my Chemistry notes. Tails sighed in agreement, rubbing his forehead with the palm of his hand.
"Tell me about it. I love Chemistry but the teacher makes it unbearably slow," He moaned.
My shoes gave a high-pitched squeal, as I skidded to a halt. Sally had suddenly strutted into my path — her walk was strong and confident — and her two friends followed with haste.
"Oh, look. It's Pinkie," Sally grinned, her hands on her hips. Her hench-girls tittered, on cue. I recognised Suki and the raccoon next to her was familiar. Molly, wasn't it?
Really inventive nickname, I thought to myself, but decided to suck it up and play nice, "Listen, Sally, we—" She cut me off.
"No, you listen," She came closer, eyes swirling like a storm cloud. The sharp, pointed heel of her spiky boots made me jump, as there was a loud crack when she stepped. I cursed myself for flinching, "New girl or not, I don't like being upstaged. Especially when it comes to my private business. Don't get so high and mighty, just because Sonic looked at you. You have no idea what kind of connection we have,"
"Sonic doesn't see you in that way. He's told you before," Tails frowned, "Get over yourself,"
Sally tilted her head towards him, furiously breathing out of her nose, "Watch it. Neither of you want to mess with me. Not. At. All,"
Sally strode off, with a slight sway to her hips, and the other two scuttled after her. Their formation clearly showed who held all the power. I groaned, wanting to gag at all this drama and cliches. Tails hugged his books tighter.
"Phew," He breathed, as they turned the corner, and glanced up at me, "You might wanna watch your back for a bit. They're not joking. This is one reason why our gang sits together: we unite in our aim to oppose Sally's reign,"
Reign? "How come everyone acts like they adore her, then?" I asked.
"I guess they're scared. Fair enough, I suppose,"
"Why? What's she gonna do? Stab me with her stiletto?" I joked, but Tails didn't laugh along.
"Don't even joke. She'll carry out a vendetta against you, with pranks, hurtful comments and rumours,"
I frowned, pondering it for a moment. He seemed genuinely worried for me. All this over Sonic? Really? Sure, I wasn't surprised that he had a few admirers, but surely it couldn't be that bad? I shrugged, "No biggie. I know a few pranks myself; I'll just play some on her,"
"It's not entirely that simple. She is the Queen around here and is very aware of the potential of her power. But don't worry — we'll help you out. I know Rouge, Knuckles and Shadow will be keen to fight back. They're not exactly her biggest fans,"
"I see. Hey, maybe we could discuss it at Cream's? Plan a line of defence, in case Sally really does try something,"
Tails smiled, giving me a thumbs up, "Defence? Good idea. I'll let the others know. See you at lunch!" He glanced at his watch before muttering, "Shoot!" and running off down the corridor. It suddenly occurred to me that I was going to be late too.
It was lunch and, this time, I was prepared. I edged around the canteen, sticking close to the walls with Cosmo, dodged anything that came towards us and watched my step. We made it to our table, without any food-related incidents.
"You don't have food on you, this time," Shadow stated, quite innocently. I blinked, surprised by his comment and that he had spoken to me. Cosmo giggled, saying that his sketchbook had been confiscated. That was why he was so "chatty", as she put it.
"Yes. Well, uh, that's a good thing, right?" I could feel myself blushing, but covered it up with an awkward grin. Shadow momentarily assessed me before nodding and heaving his bag off the seat next to him. Cosmo had already sat down, so I took the hint to do the same, next to the ebony hedgehog. He didn't comment, so I thought that was a good sign.
"Anyway, enough with the pleasantries. There are more important things to discuss," Rouge banged her fork on the table, causing everyone to expectantly look at her.
"I agree. We can't allow this to continue. Sally needs to be dealt with," Knuckles began to crack his knuckles. I flinched but I'd heard that this was merely a bad habit for him. He didn't intend to be threatening, most of the time. He glanced at me, "Tails filled us in on what happened,"
"Oh, okay. But I still don't quite understand. Just what has Sally done? And how are we going to teach her a lesson?" I asked, shying away from Shadow's intense stare. And yet Rouge barely batted an eyelid, when he turned to look at her.
"Prepare for a lesson in the social politics of a complete and utter bitc—" Rouge was cut off by Silver.
"Hold up. Shouldn't we wait for Sonic and Cream? They're not here yet," I glanced over to where the grey hedgehog was pointing: two empty seats sat next to Tails and Knuckles.
"I suppose so. But I don't know how Sonic's going to deal with this. You know what he's like," Rouge stabbed her fork into a stray piece of pasta, dejectedly.
Shadow noticed my confused expression and proceeded to explain, "Fak— Sonic is a peace maker. He might hate his enemies, but he certainly doesn't like being forced to admit it, or being horrible to them. Besides, he still laments over the fact that he used to be friends with Sally,"
"What do you mean?"
"When Sonic joined this school, Sally became good friends with him. We didn't know her all too well, but she seemed nice. Tails became friends with her too," Knuckles joined in the conversation. Shadow shot him a light glare, "But things just went completely out of control, when something happened between Sonic and Sally — he doesn't like talking about it — and Sally started up her group, The Plastics. After that, Sonic and Tails became friends with us,"
"What the hell are The Plastics?"
"Grade-A bitches," Blaze muttered, vehemently. Cosmo and I jumped in surprise.
"Blaze..." Silver soothed, placing his arm on her back and rubbing small circles, comfortingly.
I was concerned by Blaze's sudden outburst, "What did they do?"
"To me? They stole my bra from the changing rooms and tied it to the school roof. I had to find a janitor to get it down and humiliate myself further by asking him to clean off the spray-painted 'A-cup slut' on my desks," Her hands were clenched and she seemed to be trying to control herself. I could sense the bitter grit of Blaze's teeth.
"That's awful," I cried, wondering just what Blaze had 'done' to endure that.
Rouge nodded, twirling her fork between her fingers, as if the words 'I told you so' were threatening to escape, "That's The Plastics,"
"Have they done anything else?"
"Spread countless rumours about everyone and everything, despite whether there's any truth in them..." Silver supplied.
"And they taped a helium balloon to what's-her-name's skirt..."
"They managed to persuade a jock to release crickets into some guy's locker!"
"Or targeted someone by placing an open bag of dog poo, outside the girls' toilets, when the girl when inside..."
"Jeez," I was shocked, "They're awful,"
"That's why they need to be taught a lesson," Rouge firmly insisted, glaring in a specific direction, across the canteen. I didn't want to obviously stare, but presumed that she was looking in their direction. But I was sure about what needed to be done.
"You're right. We need to stop them. If not for the whole school, then for Blaze!" I blushed, lightly, wondering if I'd made a show of myself. Silver reassured me, by loudly clapping and cheering. I reddened, laughing it off my mock-bowing.
"Right. And how do we do this, exactly?" Blaze's tone was sour. She leant back, as Cosmo reached forward to hand Tails' screwdriver back, which had rolled across the table. Their fingers brushed against each other, making them flinch and pull away. The lavender cat had been watching — as had I — and her expression softened.
"We can plan the details, later. At Cream's place," Knuckles suggested, closing the lid of his now-empty grape pot.
"Nice idea,"
"Yeah!"
"Good on you, Knuckie,"
"Rouge," Knuckles growled, with his shoulders deflating. It seemed that he'd given up on fully scolding her. He settled with an exasperated sigh. The bat merely smirked.
"Hey, guys! Sorry we're late!" Sonic's voice drifted into earshot. I glanced up and felt my heart-rate quicken. He was gorgeous, with the sunlight drifting across his features, from the window — but I tried not to think about that. Dumping his tray on the table's surface, he sped off and reappeared within seconds, holding two sets of cutlery. After offering one set to Cream, who graciously thanked him, Sonic sat in the seat next to Tails. Cream placed herself beside Knuckles.
"Not to worry. We were just talking about The Plastics," Silver informed them, shaking his head and slyly stealing something from Sonic's plate.
Cream stopped chewing completely. Sonic still carried on eating, but he looked a little paler.
"Why?" He asked, simply.
Rouge straightened her posture, grandly announcing, "We're going to teach them a lesson,"
"We...are?" Cream gulped, but her mouth had been empty.
"Yeah, it's about time someone did. Besides, it'll be easy," I remained positive, pushing back my slight doubts.
"If you say so, Amy," Sonic's gaze lingered on me for half a beat longer than necessary and I froze. I could feel electricity crawling up and down my spine, but there was also a cold sensation in my throat. I was suddenly conflicted.
Most of us glanced over at their table, where the trio were laughing at some poor girl's outfit. I saw nothing wrong with it, but Sally claimed that she would rather come to school butt-naked than wear that. Rouge gritted her teeth, Sonic frowned and Shadow glared. I clenched my fists.
"This means war."
