AN: Hey everyone, I have the next chapter here. This one has a little less action, but a lot more heart as I explore some interesting character connections. This one also has an awesome moment near the end that was fun to write. Hope you enjoy this chapter, leave a review with your comments and questions, and have a nice day.
Chapter 4 – Relate
After the meal, Bulma sat at the table relaxing. While Roman found himself at the kitchen sink, washing dishes, "Why am I the one doing this!?" he commented as he cleaned.
"If you want to get into a sexist argument, I can match you shout for shout." Bulma responded with a smirk, "but we might wake up Beerus."
"You're bluffing," Roman called, "He'll attack you as well."
"It wouldn't be the first time," Bulma retorted, "Though, I am image Vegeta can do a lot more damage now than he could back then to a God of Destruction." She said as Roman scoffed, returning to washing the dishes. After a few minutes, the blue-haired scientist spoke up again, "So, you and that girl."
"Neo." Roman corrected, "What about her?"
"How did you two met?" She added on.
"You and I are not that chummy," Roman responded before going silent. However, as the blue-haired scientist glared, the orange haired criminal sighed, "I found her alone when she was just a kid without a care in the world. And when I say alone, I mean nobody knew she even existed." He then focused on washing the dishes as he talked, "She had nobody. And I, a hothead still in his teens, decided I could look after her." Roman then had a small smile form on his face, "But soon, it was the other way around, and she was the one looking after me." Roman placed the last dish on the drying rack. He then looked over to see Bulma, gazing out a window, "Hey, were you even listening to me!?"
"Yeah, I was." Bulma responded before giggling towards him, "It's a sweet story." She then gave him a wink at the end of her next sentence, "Believe me, I can relate." Roman was slightly taken back for a second as Bulma stood up, "Now, I just had an amazing idea." She then leaned in as Roman leaned back, "Do you have Dragon Balls on this planet?"
"…What?" Roman responded as Bulma took out a white circular device with a button on top and a green display. She pressed the button, but no dotes showed up, "What is that?"
"Hm, looks like no Dragon Balls here." Bulma said before putting the device away, "I guess I'll just go back to Earth to find them all."
"You need to start listening to my questions," Roman demanded, "What's a Dragon Ball!?" Suddenly, Bulla started crying in the distance, "Crap."
Adding to baby waking up, so did Beerus, "Bulma, if that child does not go back to sleep soon, I will destroy it."
"Double crap," Bulma added on before running out the room. She turned to Roman at the last second, "I'll tell you in the morning, goodnight." Roman had an uneasy wave before sighing. He then sat at the table as he rubbed his eyes, still wondering what a Dragon Ball was.
Meanwhile.
As nighttime fell over the destroyed city, the members of Team RWBY and Goku had sought shelter in an abandoned parking complex. While the four girls slept, the Saiyan from Earth kept watching. He looked down at the creatures of Grimm searching below. Suddenly in his mind, he heard a voice call to him, "Goku?" the speaker was in a slightly promiscuous in tone, helping the Saiyan from Earth tell who it was.
"Oh, hey Whis." Goku spoke aloud, causing Weiss to turn over in her sleep, "Where have you been?"
"I wanted to explore this planet a bit," Beerus' attendant responded, but he had a slight chuckle in the second half of his response, "Don't worry, I am still keeping a watchful eye out for everyone. And you seem to be doing much better in the teaching role than I thought."
"Thanks," Goku said as he scratched the back of his head, but then had a look of concern on his face, "Still, are you okay traveling on your own now."
"Don't worry," Whis responded, "I found a little friend to keep me company as I visit someone else." He said with Goku titling his head in confusion, "Take care." Suddenly the voice in his head was gone.
A few seconds later, the red-hooded girl's eyes twitched open from the commotion. She then looked over to see Goku sitting on the edge of the building, looking up at the shattered moon, "Hey," Ruby whispered as she walked over, not wanting to wake her teammates, "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah," Goku said as Ruby sat next to him, "I was just wondering." He then looked up at the night sky, "What happened to the moon here?"
"Huh," Ruby responded, "I mean, nobody really knows. It happened a really really really long time ago." She said before crossing her arms, "I think I heard people say it was a small meteorite that did it." the red-hooded girl then had a slight smile on her face, "But, my Mom told me once that the moon was shattered during a battle of Gods." Goku then looked to see Ruby smiling as she looked up at the moon, "She used so many hand gestures and sound effects to make it feel like I was there watching it." Ruby then turned back to Goku, "You two would have gotten along well, she was really strong."
"I bet," Goku responded with a smile and chuckle, "And if you met my Grandpa, he would have told you some great stories as well." The two then laughed before looking up at the moon.
However, Ruby's smile started to fade, "…How did you deal with it?" Ruby said with Goku having a look of slight confusion. He turned to see the remorse in her eyes, "Losing someone that special to you."
"Well, Bulma did mention how I had issues letting go of it." Goku responded as he looked back at the moon, "I guess, I thought I could never lose him in a way. That everything was still the same, and it was always going to be that way." As the Saiyan from Earth spoke, his mind turned the shattered moon whole, the color changing to orange, and four red stars appeared on it. However, Ruby looked to see the smile on Goku's face fade, "But then I lost my best friend right before my eyes, and nothing was the same afterward. It caused something to awaken within me I didn't know I had. I almost lost complete control, like when…" Goku did not finish his thought, he then turned back to Ruby, "The point is, the Pain of Loss can be used to get stronger and overcome previously impossible tasks." His eyes then focused as he looked at Ruby, "But if you let it cloud your judgment, you will end up doing things you can never take back." Goku then had a calm smile on his face, "Even if you forget everything else that I teach you, please remember that."
"Okay," Ruby said with a nod and a smile, "I'll remember."
"Good, now get some rest," Goku responded, "We still have a lot more training to do." He said with Ruby nodding before standing up. She looked over to her team but glanced back at Goku. The Saiyan from Earth was looking back at the shattered moon, a smile remaining on his face.
Meanwhile.
At her domicile, Salem sat at the head seat of the table, her eyes closed. Suddenly, her eyes started to twitch before opening. On her table sat the black and white corgi, "Arf!" Zwei said before panting as Salem had a scowl.
How did you get here?
"Well, it has been some time," Salem heard someone speak to her back right. She looked to discover it was Whis, "My, have you changed." He said with a smirk.
Whis!? If you are here, then-
Whis giggled as Salem scanned the area, "Do not worry, Lord Beerus is not with me," he said with her sighing in relief, "But he is on the planet. Overseeing a couple of his students, who are now teaching children of this planet."
…
"Oh, don't give me that look," Whis said with a smirk.
You realize what happened the last time he was on this planet.
In her mind, Salem remembered the event that look place millennia ago as if it was yesterday. She cradled her dead beloved as God of Light walked towards God of Darkness. Each deity faced off with their aura building. However, a vertical pillar of light appeared between them. Salem had a look of astonishment as Beerus and Whis arrived, the God of Destruction yawn.
Suddenly, Beerus eyes focused as he looked to the God of Darkness, "Now then," He said with a glare and a smirk, "Whis, we appear to have interrupted a brotherly argument."
"It would seem so, Lord Beerus," Whis responded.
"Who are-" The God of Darkness was saying, but Beerus walked towards him with hands behind his back.
"Before creation comes destruction, a simple concept." Beerus said with his eyes closed, "But you two are taking that concept to a ridicules level, involving this man and woman."
Whis then moved over to a confused Salem, "Hello, Milady." He said with a slight smile on his face, but she did not know how to respond.
Beerus then opened his eyes, looking at the God of Darkness, "For that, I will have to cast judgment on you two brothers." He then sighed as he spoke, "Pity, I liked your shade of purple."
"You dare talk down to a God!?" The God of Darkness responded with rage, his aura radiating violently. However, he had a look of confusion as Beerus held his right hand in front of the God of Darkness' face.
"You do not know the mean of that word." Beerus said as his purple aura radiated violently, overshadowing even the God of Darkness', "Hakai." The God of Destruction declared.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" The God of Darkness screamed as his body disintegrates into atoms.
"Brother No!" The God of Light screamed before his aura flared. His body began to morph into a dragon as he roared at Beerus.
The God of Destruction turned to see the other brother approaching. He moved his right hand towards the changing dragon. At the last second, Beerus held back his pointer finger with his thumb. He then flicked the God of Light in the center of his skull, the destructive force launching his body backward at lightspeed into the sky. Before fully vanishing, the God of Lights body crashed into the moon, shattering it. The God of Destruction lowered his hand, a smirk on his face.
"Oh my, Lord Beerus." Whis said with a jaunty nature to his voice, "You seem to have broken their moon."
"Technically, it was his brother that broke it," Beerus said as he looked at the last atoms fade away of the God of Darkness. He then looked back at the shattered moon, "A shame, I rather liked that moon." He then turned to Salem, whose eyes were quivering in fear, "You, I will entrust you to return order to his world." Beerus said as Whis walked to his side, "Or else I will be back to destroy this planet." The two then teleported away from the planet, Salem still trying put together what just happened.
Back in present time, Salem sighed as she looked at Whis, who was still giggling, "I remember that day, but I think Lord Beerus has forgotten that he once visited this planet." Beerus' attended spoke up.
What does that mean exactly for Remnant now?
"Well, the outlook of the planet's longevity is…shall we say, grim." He said with Salem's eyes half open, Whis continued, "As a God of Destruction, Lord Beerus will need to destroy Remnant to prevent Grimm from spreading through the universe." He then had a slight smile on his face, "However, if these students perform well in their teachings, I can see a favorable outcome for this planet." He then looked over to see slight anger in the Queen of Grimm's eyes.
And what of my fate?
"In due time, Milady," Whis spoke with a slight bow, "You are not the only one who has been put in a precarious position because of Lord Beerus' actions. For now, wait and have faith in these new students." He said with Salem remaining displeased, but Whis still smiled, "Do not worry, I can still see a fairytale ending in your future." Salem then sighed.
Suddenly, Zwei barked again, "Arf!" Salem turned to see the corgi panting at her. With a slight smile, the Queen of Grimm reached out her hand.
Nice doggy.
"Arf!" Zwei said with a smile as Salem's hand was close enough. The Corgi then jumped, biting down on three of her fingers. However, Salem did not scream in pain. Rather, her expression went deadpan. As the lifted her hand, Zwei remained latched onto her fingers. Even after a slight shake, the corgi would not let go. Out of the corner of her ear, she heard Whis giggling.
"Oh, my," Whis said as Salem turned to him with slight rage in her eyes forming, "I think that means he likes you."
AN: There you go, I did like these two conversations with the respective series' original characters (Meaning, Bulma and Goku, as well as Ruby and Roman, are two first characters to appear in their shows. Not counting trailers). You may also notice that Salem talks differently than the other characters do. This is just how I write her dialogue in my stories, since I wrote her this way in Fates Collide. You also go see her backstory with the rwby lore is a bit different in this continuity. Whoever made that guess in chapter one review, they knew this was going to happen, because it just fits so well. So far, I am having the most fun writing Beerus and Whis here. (I should also mention that I don't like the V6 rwby lore. It's not that I think it's bad, I just think it's boring and not interesting). To add, Salem is not the Big Bad of this story. Nor does this story have a Big Bad in general, but more of obstacles in the way of a goal for the characters to achieve. The next few chapters should make this become clearer. That is all for now, thanks for reading, and hope to see you in the next chapter.
