Here we go, guys. This is a very fluffy chapter. It is also entirely from Uncas' pov, which is a big step for me. I normally don't write in a guys' pov, and when I do it's usually only a small bit. I just feel like I don't write as well. But that's just me. Anyway, sorry for being gone so long. I hope this makes up for it. The next one should have a little more action in it. And possibly some Hawkeye/Alice/Heyward drama ;-)

Uncas
Uncas had greeted the morning with a heart filled with joy. And why wouldn't he? His people were free from their mortal enemies, the hurons. Sure, there had been casualties, and his heart did hurt from the tears that he had seen from his people. But those closest to him had managed to escape unscathed. His father, his brother, and his heart were all here, safe and sound, with only minor injuries.
He was now going to the river to go for a swim. It had been so long since he had been able to do so. Lucky for him, the tribe of the Delaware had positioned their camp right near the Glenn waterfall. A small ways from the camp rested a river bed that flowed to the waterfall, whose waters cascaded down into a large pool of water.
Uncas had planned to see Cora this morning, and maybe even ask her to join him, but she wasn't in the wigwam in which she slept. After searching around camp to no avail, he had actually began to worry. To his relief, he had run into her father, who had assured him that he had just been to see her, and that she was most likely somewhere in camp with her sister. Figuring that they were probably walking in circles around each other, he had gave up on locating her and figured he'd just see her later.
But he'd only made it to the river when he was stopped in his tracks. The very woman that he was attempting to find was splayed out on a large rock adjacent to the river, naked as the day she was born with eyes closed lightly. She looked as though she were asleep. She looked...peaceful. He now looked upon her with both anger and amazement. His eyes raked over her and pride ran over him. This beautiful woman was his wife. She was his. Yet, here she was, laying exposed to the eyes of any wandering brave. He was angry that any man could look upon her.
He was so focused on her beautiful hair and skin that he didn't pay attention to where he placed his feet. For the first time in years, he stepped harshly on a small twig. A large snapping sound was heard and her eyes opened and found him immediately. She wasn't asleep after all.
A wave of heat went over his face, and he found himself feeling embarrassed to have been caught looking at her when she was in such a vulnerable position. This faded quickly, though, as he remembered that she was his. He stood up and walked the distance between them. The rock she was on was positioned perfectly in the sun, and its rays shined down on her lovely form. Her dark brown hair looked softer, shinier, and its ends fell in beautiful waves down her back. It also emphasized the paleness of her skin. Though hers was usually a few shades darker than that of her sister, it now looked much lighter with the beams of light falling onto it.
"Uncas." She breathed warmly, sitting up and turning slightly to face him. Her long hair served as a curtain over her breasts. But for some reason he found himself desiring her more now then when her chest was in full view just moments ago. She smiled at him, her eyes sparkling, the love that she had for him showing clear as day in them. Uncas couldn't remember a sight that he'd rather see.
"Cora." He replied, his voice bordering on a whisper as it dropped an octave. "You're beautiful." He said, running his left hand through her thick, dark hair. For a moment, it was just the two of them in the world, staring deeply into each other's eyes. But then she looked down, now remembering that she was not clothed. A pink blush spread across her cheeks. And he found it endearing.
He put his hand under her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes. He didn't want her to be uncomfortable. Though he was perfectly at ease in his own skin and wished for her to be so too around him, he could understand her embarrassment. They had grown up in two very different worlds. This was why he refused to let his eyes wander. His thumb stroked her cheek, and after a few moments passed by he could feel her unease begin to slip away. She reached a hand up and laid a palm on his face. Tilting his head to the side, he kissed her hand, and as her eyes closed at the contact, he moved his mouth away and took hers with a warm kiss. Not rushed or desperate for contact. But slow, methodical, and drawn out. He pulled back slowly after a little while. "Cora, I need to tell you..." her eyes opened and looked deep into his. The pools of rich brown hypnotized him, and for a second he forgot what he was going to say. Her blink woke him from the trance. "We are one. You are Uncas' woman." She smiled lightly, though her eyes showed her confusion.
"Forgive me if I'm wrong...but I thought I was already 'your woman'?" She asked. His lips curled up into a small smile.
"When we were by the ledge, you proclaimed that you were mine." He began. She nodded remembering the event fresh in her mind as if it had happened minutes before. "Among my people when a man or a woman claims another their souls are made one." He continued, before looking down at her to see if she was understanding what he was saying.
"You mean they are married?" Cora asked. He nodded his head slowly. Her eyes lit up, love flowing from her eyes. She stood and took a step forward as if to pull him closer to her but her foot slipped on a loose rock at the base of the one she was laying on. As the rock wasn't far from the ledge that overlooked the pool at the bottom of the waterfall, she was soon tripping over various rocks and such on the ground before plummeting over the ledge and into the water below. He was unsuccessful in his attempts to catch her, most likely because it all happened so quickly. "Cora!" He yelled, his voice filled with fear. He lept off of the edge of the rock and dove into the pool of bright blue, almost crystal clear water. He came up, scanning for a sign of her. He didn't know if she could swim. However, before he could dive under to search for her, he saw her head pop up out of the water. She wiped stray water droplets out of her face, and let out a hearty laugh. Her wet hair slicked back against her back, and he could see that it reached the bottom of her waist through the clear water. Uncas let out a rare laugh as they looked lovingly at each other. They sat there for a few seconds, treading water, when Cora pushed a handful of water in his face. His mouth opened in shock as his eyes closed on instinct. She giggled and dove under the water. His lips curled into a smirk and he dove after her.
He grabbed her by the ankle and she let out a scream underwater. The bubbles rose to the top, as did the couple. She laughed out loud when she reached the top, bringing joy to Uncas' heart, and was about to splash him again when he splashed her first. She huffed in indignation as he dove away.
"Uncas!" She yelled as he resurfaced several yards away. She swam towards him, thinking for a split second about how much easier it was to move around without the restriction of clothing. Uncas swam towards her and she smiled and went to meet him half way. But just as she was about to reach him, he tucked under her and stopped short right behind her.
She spun around to face him and they merged together, in an embrace as old as time. They stared at each other for what felt like years, reading each others' souls. Uncas wasn't sure who leaned in first, but he soon found his lips fused with hers, drinking her in. His hands found her waist as hers found the long strands of hair that ran down his back. Their legs moved in sync under the water, holding them afloat. Uncas found himself thinking that if he could choose how he would die, it would be right here, in her arms.
