If you believed
When I said
I'd be better off without you
Then you never really knew me at all
If you believed
When I said
That I wouldn't be thinking about you
You thought you knew the truth but you're wrong
You're all that I need
Just tell me that you still believe

Round 4: A Work In Progress…

READY?

FIGHT!

Kim exited the room and started back down to the living room. She started to tell the officer that he could go talk to Sean now when she noticed two more men present in the room. Both in martial arts gi's. One she didn't recognize, tall blond and handsome, in a red gi and was chatting to Chun-Li and a seemingly annoyed Guile, and the other was also a blond, but was in a blue gi, and had his back to her while talking to Kim's parents and the Stoppables.

He turned toward her and to Kim the entire universe froze in place, as green eyes met brown. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't think. All she could do was stare, and it seemed he had the same problem. In spite of her inability to draw oxygen into her lungs she could feel her heart hammering far more rapidly than normal against her ribs. She numbly walked the rest of the way down into the living room, now completely unaware of anyone else there except the man she was staring at, almost afraid if she took her eyes off him he'd disappear on her again.

"Kim…" his voice spoke, hitching as his jaw struggled to work.

"Ron…" She echoed in a shallow breath.

Before the young man could say anything more, his face was turned quickly to the side from the impact of Kim's palm colliding with his cheek.

A pin drop could be heard as Ron stood perfectly still while Kim stood before him, breathing heavily and her face contorted with rage.

"Guys…" Ken walked up behind Ron.

"Why don't you take it outside and … talk this out…" Chun-Li said to the panting, angry Kim. "We can handle helping the investigation and as soon as we figure something out we'll come out and get you…"

Without a word, Kim whipped around and marched toward the backdoor, and Ron quietly followed rubbing his cheek. "Where… WERE You?" Kim growled out, clinching both of her fists.

"What?" Ron blinked rubbing his cheek a moment longer before glancing to the trembling redhead.

"WHERE WERE YOU?!" Kim yelled as she turned to face him. "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?"

"I… I was… after the Lowardians, I was…well…" He stumbled for words, unable to meet her angry eyes. "I had to learn to better control the monkey power I have and…"

"Better control?" Kim tilted her head, "YOU THREW THE LOWARDIANS THROUGH THEIR SPACE SHIP!"

"I… I…" Ron stammered as she approached him.

"And what was up with this? Huh?" Kim pulled out the piece of paper. She unfolded it and angrily recited it without even having to look at it, "It's not working, KP. We're better off not together… forget about me. – Ron."

"You… you kept that?" Ron asked but she completely ignored the question.

"It's not working? What wasn't working, Ronald?" Kim asked, angry tears forming in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "You know what WAS working, Ron? I was working. I was working VERY hard, and do you know why? Because the sooner I could get done the sooner we could be together. I was just told I was on the fast track, you know? I was on my way home to you and… and you pull this SHIT!" she tossed it at him, "And… Better off not together? Do you have… ANY IDEA WHAT THAT WAS LIKE?! FIVE YEARS WITHOUT YOU! I didn't even KNOW what it meant to not be together with you…"

"And… I looked for you, I've looked for you all this time…" Kim bit her lower lip for a moment, "And I had no idea what I was going to say to you… or what I was going to do… I still… And it took this and…" Kim's eyes snapped up at him, "You didn't just abandon me, you abandoned everyone. You abandoned Hana… Master Sensei gave her to your family so you could protect her, remember? Bang up job, Ron!"

"What? Are you… you think this was my fault?" Ron asked, his eyes flashing angrily.

"Let me be a little clearer, so you can follow," Kim snapped, "Had you BEEN HERE, Hana wouldn't have faced Bison and his thugs ALONE… So, yeah, pretty much, this is on you."

"Had I been here… what about YOU?" Ron asked, taking a step toward his ex-girlfriend. "And why weren't you here to protect her?! Huh? Kim?" Ron asked with a twitching jaw, "You're supposed to be this big super hero who can do anything right? Can't even protect a little girl from your home town… from your own neighborhood! Might as well have just taken her right out from under your nose!"

"I'm an Interpol agent now, Ron," Kim frowned, "I had missions …"

"Ah AH!" Ron held up a finger, "You said you were looking for me!"

"WHICH, AGAIN, IS YOUR FAULT!" Kim shouted.

"DON'T YOU TURN THIS ON ME!" Ron shouted back.

Kim took a step back and took a fighting stance while giving Ron a challenging glare.

"So… we're going to do this…" Ron frowned angrily as he stared at the angry redhead, "I guess it's come to this, huh, KP?" He said taking a stance himself.

Brown eyes and green locked as they began to inch toward each other, muscles tight and ready to attack.

Leave her alone! It's her turn! Taking turns is the basic foundation of pre-school. The jungle-law of daycare is behind us. We have structure. We have rules.

Teeth clinched as they eyed each other, waiting for the first move.

You're weird…

The two roared and leapt at each other at the same time, firsts prepared to fly.

But I like you…

Kim missed with her faster swing, but was able get her other arm up to block Ron's blow, and they were apart for only a moment. She took a fast and sharp snap kick that Ron was able to jump back away from.

He brought his fists to his side, forming a quick but weak ball of energy, "HADOKEN!" He yelled as he launched the ball of energy toward Kim. But the redhead back cartwheeled away, leaving the blast to only hit grass.

"Missed…" Kim smirked, then ducked when Ron made a flying kick that barely missed her head. "Missed again…" She jumped into the air and launched a bicycle kick that hit him in the chest, pushing him back against the large tree in the center of his backyard.

"Why are you holding back!?" Kim growled, blocking his swing. "What, are you afraid of hitting a girl? STOP HOLDING BACK!" She yelled kneeing him in the stomach, then followed through by falling to ground, then pushing up with both feet in an uppercut-like kick.

Ron flew up tumbling through the entrance of the old treehouse. He shook his head, just in time to catch another attack from Kim. He finally got a hard blow to her abdomen sending her back toward the old couch. He formed a ball of energy again his hand as he rushed toward Kim. "RASENGAN!" He shouted as grabbed her by the shirt, both of them tumbling onto the couch. The energy ball was held inches from her body as they laid together, nose to nose, gasping for breath.

"Do it…" Kim whispered between breathes as they stared at each other. "Do it…"

The energy ball faded as they closed the gap in a passionate kiss.

A short while later, Kim walked back into the house, fixing her hair, with Ron close behind readjusting his top. "So… you guys talk things out?" Chun-Li asked, glancing to her partner.

Kim flushed, "Something like that, work in progress…" Kim said glancing back at Ron, who couldn't meet anyone's eyes.

"Any word yet on Hana?" Ron asked as he sat down, notably far away from Kim's father.

Cammy glanced up at the two, particularly studying Kim. She was sitting in the floor cross-legged with a computer on the coffee table. A smirk grew on the British girl's face as her reading glasses slid down her nose, "Not just yet, but we are cross-referencing data from Delta Red, Interpol and Global Justice about M. Bison and Shadaloo in general's operations in the Middleton area… And off the subject, about bloody time. You've been needing a good shag since I met you, Kimberly."

Kim and Ron's jaws dropped, and before they could reply. "I have to say, I am mildly disappointed, you were out for not even thirty minutes. Not have very good stamina, do you, my friend?" She asked, glancing to the blanching Ron.

"WELL, I'M SORRY BECAUSE I'M WORRIED ABOUT MY SISTER, AND MY BEST FRIEND-EX-GIRLFRIEND-MAYBE-GIRLFRIEND AGAIN YELLED AT ME AND TRIED TO KICK MY ASS! DON'T JUDGE ME!" He complained, then covered his mouth as Kim turned crimson, elbowing him hard in the ribs.

Tim and Mr. Possible glared daggers at Ron, while Ron's parents shook their heads, and Mrs. Possible face palmed. Chun-Li smiled slightly, Guile rolled his eyes, and Sakura was rubbing Tim's shoulders, trying to calm him down.

"Dude! Bring it in!" He held out his fist toward Ron, while Ron stared back like he was crazy. "C'mon, man! Don't leave me hanging, bro!" Ken said again, waving his fist at Ron. He gasped when Chun-Li slapped him in the back of the head. "What?"

"Idiot…" Chun-Li rolled her eyes.

"We got something!" Cammy pushed her glasses on her nose and turned the computer as it dinged.

"Good, maybe, just maybe, we can get Hana back without her brother and hero getting back in each other's pants…" Mrs. Possible said in a scolding tone.

"Ten years ago, Middleton Metropolitan Airport was closed down when the Tri-City International Airport opened in Triton," Cammy explained as she read over the info. "It was among several former airports that were purchased three years ago by AGEV Industries out of Spain."

"AGEV?" Chun-Li asked.

"One of the more obvious Shadaloo cover-companies," Cammy explained, at Chun-Li's blank look she continued, "Spell it backwards, love…"

"Vega…" Chun-Li narrowed her eyes.

"So, what are we waiting for?" Tim spoke up.

"We?" Kim asked, turning to her younger brother. "You and your friend are staying here with the 'rents. The professionals will handle this."

"Professionals? That was real professional earlier with Ron, Sis…" Tim narrowed his eyes.

"What Ron and I did in the treehouse was something two consenting and emotional adults are allowed to do in a moment of crisis!" Kim countered, earning her brother to flinch back in horror.

"I was referring to the slap not… EWW SIS!" Tim took a step back in disgust.

Kim flushed a bit, before shaking her head, "That's … beside the point, you're not coming. This is dangerous. We can't focus on saving Hana and keeping you safe…" She reached for his shoulder, but gasped when he snapped his hand up and grabbed her by the wrist, "HEY!" She yelled before she cried out as he twisted her arm behind her back and forced her against the wall with a hard lock. "OUCH! TWEEEB!"

"I'm not the little boy anymore, Sis, I can take care of myself, and Hana. You taught me to be able to help people; I'm going to help people. So either let me, us…" he glanced back at Sakura for a moment, "Us come with you, or we follow behind. Your call. Either way, we're coming."

"Kid's fast," Guile noted.

"OK, fine, but you both follow instruction without asking a single question, got it?" Kim ordered as her brother let her go. She then turned to her parents and Ron's parents. "Mom, Dad, Mr. and Mrs. S, we'll have Hana home before you know it! Let's get going!" she said as the group piled out of the house.

-KPSF-

"This is the place…" Guile said as the group exited their vehicles and walked up to the locked gate.

"Yup, Monkey Fist used it as a hide out once," Kim said as Cammy looked at the lock.

"Yeah, I remember," Ron said, glancing up, "A good pair of pants was ruined up on that tower…" He said, pointing to the old control tower.

"Ripped um?" Guile asked in confusion.

"Um… yeah, let's go with that…" Ron mumbled.

"Grappling hook, cable attached to belt loop, pants went up, Ron stayed down," Kim smirked at the memory.

Ken chuckled before Ron elbowed him.

"Bloody rusted lock… hard to pick…" Cammy growled.

"Step back, I got it…" Chun-Li said, stepping up. "Give me some space, the gate will be open in just a couple seconds…" She said taking a low stance.

Chun-Li steadied herself on one leg and extended one toward the lock and chain, focusing her aim, and a moment later, her leg blurred as a barrage of kicks slammed into the lock and gates at such speed her legs blurred. Majority of the group had witnessed her signature Lightning Kick attack.

"Whoa…" Ron and Tim breathed.

"Now, you see why she's referred to as Thunder Thighs?" Cammy shrugged as the lock and chain gave way and the gate swung open.

"What was that?" Chun-Li spun around to glare at the British agent.

Cammy winked and waved, "Door's open, let's go."

The group walked into the incredibly quiet and dark airport grounds glancing around for any sign of life. "This feels like a trap…" Ron frowned.

"You'd know, how many have you sprung us in?" Kim stated.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Ron narrowed his eyes.

"Just facts, thought it for years but didn't want to hurt your feelings," Kim sent a sideways glare toward him. "But since you obviously didn't mind hurting my feelings, why should I be concerned about yours?"

"Since I… When have I ever intentionally hurt your feelings!" Ron fired back turning toward her.

"Guys…" Ken tried to step in, but Ron shoved him back. Ken just shook his head and continued ahead with the others.

"Oh, need I bring out Exhibit A again?" Kim asked, pulling out the letter.

"What, why are you carrying that around like that anyway?" Ron asked frowning.

"If you don't know yourself, I don't feel I need to clue you in," Kim growled, roughly folding it back up and stuffing it into her pocket. She then growled in frustration and continued forward behind the group that had walked ahead a pace. "I can't believe I'm even giving you the time of day… Hell, I can't believe I even… did THAT with you."

"Are you wanting another fight or something?" Ron shot back. "I won't be holding back this time."

"I didn't realize you were holding back, Ronald," Kim turned her back and continued on toward the others, "I thought it was just naturally a limp performance…"

Ron grunted and walked along behind her.

"Hey, Tim, look like your baby sister and her friend caught up," Sakura noted as Kim and Ron rejoined the group.

"She's actually my older sister…" Tim said, not catching on to the jab, though the flush to Kim's cheek said she at least did.

"Really? It's really showing with the maturity level," she stated.

"Kim, Ron, We need you both focused," Chun-Li chided, "You're a trained Interpol Agent, Kim, and on top of that in the manual there's a chapter on teamwork based on you two. Pull it together."

"I know… I know…" Kim whispered to her partner, ducking her head in shame, "It's just…"

"I know, you're mad him, he's mad at you, and you're both worried about his sister," Chun-Li patted her shoulder, "But you aren't going to be able to find her, if you keep stopping to jump at each other's throats."

"Right…" Kim and Ron both said at the same time, then glanced at each other. "Truce…" They said together again.

Before more could be said blinding lights lit up all around them. "See!? Trap!" Ron cried out, as they all covered their eyes.

"Ron! Shut up!" Kim snapped.

"Don't tell me to shut up!" Ron snapped back, "I'm not your sidekick anymore!" And Kim recoiled as if he had slapped her. Without even responding, Ron fired off a Hadoken fireball toward one of the spotlights, smashing it.

"This isn't good…" Tim said as armored fighters spilled out around them.

"Shadaloo," Guile growled, recognizing the uniforms.

"Are these the guys who kidnapped my sister?" Ron growled, his brown eyes focused on the small army.

"Yes, they work for… RON!" Cammy called as the young fighter dashed toward the group.

"RASENGAN!" Ron called as he formed a chi ball of energy in his hand and slammed it into the chest of the first soldier he came to, sending him flying backwards.

"So, guess we fight?" Chun-Li asked.

"Yup…" Guile nodded, extending his arms, "SONIC BOOM!" He called, swinging both arms forward to release a spinning wave of chi that wiped out a few of the oncoming troopers.

"KIKOKEN!" Chun-Li pushed forward with both hands, releasing a large round fireball that slammed into two troopers, then spun overhead with her Hazanshu overhead flip kick, that cracked another trooper right in the head.

"SHOOOOOOOOORYUKEN!" Ken yelled as he did his flaming dragon punch to the jaw of a trooper, and followed up with his hurricane kick in the center of a group.

"There's too many…" Tim shook his head as he did a serious of punches to a troopers gut then went into a full split and gave the trooper a hard punch right in the groin. As the trooper fell down and curled into a ball, "Guess they're not wearing cups…"

"Nice split!" Sakura beamed, doing a roundhouse kick to the trooper she was fighting.

"Hadoken!" She called, firing a small fireball, but frowned when it dissipated before it reached her target.

"Wasn't bad, Sakura," Ken piped in, firing one of his own that wiped out her intended target, "Just keep practicing! Need to find a way to pull it deep."

"Right!" Sakura forced a smile and nodded.

Across the small battlefield, Kim and Ron stood back to back fighting. In spite of their issues, fighting together still felt smooth and efficient. It was almost like they knew what the other was thinking before they even thought it. Spending the biggest portion of their lives together would have that effect, Kim imagined.

"There's too many…" Ron panted, making a hard snap kick to the trooper he was fighting.

"Says the guy who jumped into the fight…" Kim frowned, brushing some sweaty hair from her face.

"Guys, fight the bad guys," Chun-Li spin kicked a thug and landed beside the two, "Not each other!"

"We're getting nowhere fast…" Kim shook her head, "We're out numbered…"

"But we're surrounded, we can't get away either," Chun-Li noted, firing off another fireball at the large group of Shadaloo troopers.

"We're kinda starting to loose…" Cammy growled, from where she had just hit a trooper with her spiral arrow.

"We have to get answers on where Hana is…" Ron growled, glancing around at the group.

"METSU HADOKEN!" A voice called from the gateway, and a large devastating burst of purple energy ripped through the group of troopers.

"Wha?" the heroes turned to see the new comer.

"Ryu! About time you caught up, buddy!" Ken waved.

"Alright! Ryu!" Ron cheered.

"Ryu?" Chun-Li asked as the powerful looking fighter approached. His large powerful arms flexed from the ripped sleeves of his gi, and the red bandana and black martial arts belt waved in the breeze as he approached the attackers.

"These are the ones who helped Bison take the child?" Ryu asked Ken, and once Ken nodded, he turned to remaining enemy fighters. "Very well then." He said taking a fighting stance, before making his move.

"TATSUMAKI SENPUKYAKU!" He called as he jumped into the air and spun like a tornado, ripping through the group of soldiers. He barely was on the ground again for a moment. "HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN!" He called as he fired off a series of powerful fireballs that took out more than one trooper with each impact. "SHOOOORYUKEN!" He yelled as he launched a rising dragon punch that connected with a trooper's chin and sent him high in the air.

"Damn…" Guile blinked as the Japanese man who has been known in circles as the Ultimate Fighter showed where that nickname came from. With little effort he picked apart the troopers, till only one was left. The trooper tried to back away, but Ryu lowered his stance, "Metsu…" he clinched his fist, before launching first a left upper cut, then a right, then finally a third, holding his fist at the trooper's jaw, "SHORYUKENNNN!" He yelled as he lifted him high into the air to slam into the ground.

Ken clapped at his friends fight as the others stared in awe. Meanwhile Ryu just stared at his fists in disgust. "….Still not strong enough…" He growled to himself.

"Good job, bud," Ken slapped his shoulder, "Good to see you. Wish it was better circumstances."

"Right," Ryu nodded, and then glanced to Ron, "Sorry about your sister, my friend. I will do everything I can to help." He then glanced to Sakura, "Sakura-chan, you've grown stronger. Once this is over, I'd enjoy a spar."

"H-Hai!" Sakura bowed excitedly.

"Very good, very good!" A voice called from above. The group looked up to see Vega seated on the edge of a hover jet.

"Vega!" Chun-Li called out.

"Where's my sister!" Ron yelled.

"She's safe for now!" Vega replied, "Lord Bison would be more than willing to allow you to see her, should you make it to the finals."

"Finals?" Chun-Li yelled.

"The World's Warriors Street Fighter tournament, of course!" the masked assassin laughed, pointing toward Ryu, "You have a previous champion with you! But Lord Bison has changed the format this year. It will be a series of tournaments with the winners at each location given a new location, until they finally are given the location of the Finals, where the champion will be crowned. Young Hana Stoppable will be present for the championship matches. So if you want to see her again, you must fight, Mr. Stoppable. You must WIN! See you in the tournament!" he then blew a kiss toward Chun-Li, "I hope you decide to take part as well, my beautiful dove, I have missed the taste of your blood…" he said as he tossed down a brief case.

Kim carefully opened it and in it was a tablet. The group glanced at each other, and the young redhead hesitantly pressed the screen. It instantly lit up with a map of the globe with the caption at the top World's Warriors Tournament.

A booming, excited voice sounded from the tablet, "First Destination… USA!" it zoomed in to the East Coast, New York.

"I guess if we're going to find Hana and stop this lunatic…" Ron frowned staring at the digital map.

"We have to fight…" Ryu nodded.

"Then, we fight…" Kim nodded, placing a hand on Ron's arm, and nodded at him with determination, "And we win."

To Be Continued…
