The next morning, Maggie called out of work. She was emotionally and physically drained. She slept in and decided to stay in bed all day. Amelia came into her room and checked in on her.

"Maggie, what's wrong? What happened to you last night? Mer said you came home upset."

"I was just overwhelmed Amelia. I felt my world crashing in and I just couldn't deal. All these feelings that I've never felt before took over me. Amelia I couldn't breath and I just wanted to get home and melt into my bed. More like hide so no one could see me breaking and falling apart."

"Did you talk to Jackson?"

"No, and please don't tell me to. Not right now. "

"Okay. I can respect that. Call me if you need anything."

Meredith overhearing her and Amelia chimed in, "Maggie, it is hard to connect with your feelings when you're good at hiding them. For a long time, I wouldn't allow myself to feel then I met Derek. I learned about love and how it can hurt. Maggie, it's hard but it gets better."

Turning to leave she yelled out, "Call Jackson, he can support you with all of this. Trust me! Amelia, let's go we are going to be late."

Maggie looked down at her phone, she didn't want to have to explain to him what happen last night. Though she promised to talk to him when she was ready, she wasn't ready. She turned it off pushed it aside, curled under her comforter and went back to sleep.

...

Jackson woke up and reached over to the other side of his bed. He was so used to Maggie's warm body next to him. They would cuddle until he got tired of hitting the snooze button. He missed her. A feeling of sadness hit him. He wanted her to be okay and he wanted to know that everything was okay between the two of them. He got up and got ready for work. He hoped once he got there he would be able to see her. Being able to see her was enough for him.

Jackson walked into the attendings lounge and got ready for his day. He changed his clothes and walked over to the OR board to see what OR Maggie was in. He knew that she had an early surgery. He wanted to catch her before they both got too busy. When he walked over to the board he noticed her name was not there. He took his phone out of his lab coat and called her. It went straight to voicemail. One of the nurses informed him that Dr. Ryan would be covering Dr. Pierce's service because she was out sick. He was worried but he knew she would call him when she was ready. He believed that she would keep her promise.

He went on with his day.

A couple of hour went by and Maggie was lying on her bed. She heard her door slowly open. When she turned to look, she found Bailey walking toward her. He climbed onto her bed and laid next to her with his Thor figurine in his hand.

"Hi Bailey, why aren't you downstairs with the sitter?"

"I wanted to come be with you Auntie Maggie, I don't want you to be sad anymore."

"Who told you I was sad."

"Mommy, before she left she told us to leave you alone because you were sad." Bailey took his little hands and placed them on Maggie's cheeks. Looking into her eyes he said, "smile Auntie Maggie."

Maggie couldn't help but to smile. A tear came down her face.

"Why are you crying Auntie Maggie?"

"Bailey, you are making my heart smile."

She kissed him on the cheek and he gave her the biggest of hugs. He tucked the Thor figurine under the sheets with her. He said with a dig smile on his face, "to protect you." He jumped off the bed and ran out of her room. Maggie let out a giggle, took the toy and held it to her chest. "I love that kid" she said with a huge smile on her face.

When she first realized how much she cared about them, she couldn't understand the feelings that were coming over her. Her heart was wide open and the feelings consumed her. She heard the words Meredith spoke to her that day, "You have to push through it and push the awful aside and just get through the day."

Tears began to stream down her face. Maggie thought about when she first came to Seattle. She had no one. She was alone and the only things she had was her job. A job that she was great at and she was okay with that. When she was in Boston, she had relationships, but people usually were so fascinated by her brain that they never really took time to get to know her personally. It was all about how young, gifted and talented she was. Her parents loved her and cared for her and she was perfect. Never gave them any problems. She was the perfect child. It wasn't until she moved to Seattle that really got to experience Love. Love from her sister, her nieces and nephews and Jackson. She had friends who cared about her and didn't see her as just a genius but a person.

Maggie then realized she was being too hard on herself. She was not alone. If she was to fall apart, there were people around her who cared about her to help. Maggie said out loud to herself, "I do this all the time. I push people away when the feelings get too real. I run before they can leave me, once exposed, I don't know how they will react. It's okay to cry and it is okay to be vulnerable." She processed her thoughts and feelings for a while as she laid in the bed.

...

It was the end of his shift at the hospital. Maggie had not called or text him all day. He thought about asking Meredith how she was but he wanted to respect her space. He wanted her to come to him.

He went home and turned on the game. He ordered some food and sat on the sofa with a beer. He heard someone wrestling with the door. He turned to see who it was, it was Maggie. She walked in and closed the door behind her. She walked over to where he was and laid down putting her head on his lap. Jackson didn't say anything. A smile came across his face as he reached down and played with her hair. He wanted to just grab her and kiss her but he held off.

Softly she said…"Sometimes, you can feel scared but then your lying next to each other at night and it just feels right. Jackson, It feels right."

"Thank you Jackson. Thank you for being so understanding. I was having a hard time dealing with all these emotions from April almost dying . Holding it together for you and Harriet was not easy. I had to push my feelings aside in order to do my job. Once things were calm and everything was settled, it came like a flood. I have never felt anything like that before. I almost lost my friend Jackson. I was so focused on everyone else that I didn't realize how much her dying would also affect me and our relationship."

He moved the curls away from her face and looked down at her, "Maggie, I didn't know that it affected you this much. Why didn't you just talk to me?"

"I didn't want to overwhelm you Jackson. You had to worry about Harriet. Didn't want you having to worry about me too."

"Maggie, you are not a burden. If anything you are a gift. You make me so happy and things are better in my life because of you. When I tell you I am here for you, I am here. You can yell, scream and be quiet if you like, but i will always be there, as long as you need me."

Maggie sat up and placed her hands on his cheeks, "You are here for me and through everything you continue to be there. I appreciate you Jackson." He leaned into her and kissed her. He then laid his forehead on hers and gazed into her eyes… pulling away he asked, "Are we good?"

Rubbing her nose against his she whispers, "we are perfect," before pressing her lips against his.
