Chapter 4
Emma, Mary Margaret, and Henry finished eating their lunch. Mary Margaret paid Granny with the euros that the other Mary Margaret gave her. They exited the building, wondering what to do for the rest of the day. "Mr. Gold isn't in this town," Mary Margaret said sadly.
"It looks like we need to meet Queen Regina after all," explained Emma. Mary Margaret let out a sigh as she walked beside Emma and Henry.
"What should we even say to her? Will she threaten our family?" asked Mary Margaret. Henry let out an interesting noise, but never came out with words.
"Henry?" Emma said curiously to her son. She stopped and put a hand on his shoulder.
"What's wrong Henry?" said Ms. Swan. Henry looked at his mom. He shrugged as he let out a small sigh.
He stated, "It's just... It's just that I don't want her to act like she used to. She wasn't the nicest person to be around then, and maybe, with everything here, she might be..." Emma rubbed his shoulder with her hand.
She reassured, "I'm sure everything will be fine. Try not to worry about anything right now. We'll deal with it when the time comes." Henry nodded as he looked back down at the ground. Emma reached for his hand, but he moved it away from hers. Was he still mad at her?
Emma brought her hand down to her side. Mary Margaret gave her daughter a small smile. This trip wasn't helping their family so far, but it may soon.
The blonde smiled back. There wasn't anymore point talking about the current subject. "What do you want to do now? Want to walk around some more or do you want to head back?"
"Well, I think that we should head back. Maybe, this Mary Margaret has the same book that you did Mary Margaret," Henry explained happily. The book. Maybe it could help them learn information about the people here. They could get somewhere, figure out what has happened, and how everyone got here.
Emma nodded. "Ya, sure. That's fine with me. As long as it's fine with Mary Margaret." Emma looked at Ms. Blanchard.
She laughed, "Of course it is. You don't need to ask me." The family headed back towards the mansion where the prince and princess were spending their honeymoon.
Once they arrived at the house, Emma opened the door. There was no one in sight from the front door.
The trio walked into the room, and took off their shoes. Footsteps could be heard coming towards them. Emma looked up. It was just Leroy. "Welcome back. I hope you enjoyed the town. It's not that big, but good things come in small packages, right?" Leroy told. "Anyways, please try to not make a mess. Me and my companions have worked all day on this, and we wouldn't want someone to ruin our hard work before dinner." Emma nodded.
"I'm sure we won't, right Henry?" asked Emma. He looked at his mom, and back at Leroy.
"Of course mom," he stated. Leroy looked at them, and walked away from them.
Before he wasn't in sight of Emma, she yelled, "Wait! Is there a library in here or somewhere where they store books?" Leroy turned and walked back towards Emma.
"Ya, upstairs in the left hall, the fourth door on the right," the cleaner explained. Emma thanked him, and headed up the stairs with Henry and Mary Margaret.
"So you think the book would be in the library?" said Henry. She shrugged.
"It's a start," she replied. The trio made it to the door. Ms. Blanchard opened the door. Inside, there was bookshelves everywhere. The room was flooded with books from top to bottom. Henry, Emma, and Mary Margaret entered the room. Henry seemed amazed on the amount of books in this one room.
Emma closed the door behind them. "Doesn't the book only appear when it is needed? Like when Henry needed it for hope?" Mary Margaret questioned. Henry walked towards the first bookshelf.
"We can at least try to find it," responded Emma. Henry moved from the second bookshelf, and removed a book off the shelf.
He said, "I found something." Mary Margaret and Emma walked over to him. He was holding the book they were looking for.
The book was much thicker than the one in Storybrooke. Something must have happened more severe than Storybrooke. Something that would need to add at least 50 more pages in.
Henry flipped to the first page. It was the same as the book in their land. Henry scanned through the next couple of pages, and didn't find anything useful. He turned to the last page. There was a picture of a baby, similar to the one of Emma in the book from Storybrooke. The baby had brown hair and brown eyes. The baby's blanket had a name stitched on to the blanket. It said Henry on it.
"Henry? Maybe you do exist after all," told Emma. The picture had Snow White and Prince Charming on it. They were standing beside a toddler with blonde hair. It looked like Emma a bit.
The toddler seemed scared, nervous about something. Snow White and Prince Charming seemed very calm in the picture.
The baby was in a wardrobe, maybe like the enchanted one back when the Evil Queen cursed the Enchanted Forest. Snow White and Prince Charming were probably saying goodbye to the baby. Maybe the curse was later than the one that happened to the Enchanted forest.
Henry seemed very contented with the words written in the book. He was always interested in this stuff.
Suddenly, the door opened. Henry closed the book, and put it on the bookshelf the way he found it.
The other Mary Margaret came through the door wearing a nice, blue dress. "I was told you would be in here," the other Mary Margaret explained. Her voice seemed very happy, but with a hint of fear. Like they were digging into something they shouldn't be. Emma smiled.
"Ya. We were just wasting time. We finished walking through town. It was good. We are excited about tomorrow though. The people in town were telling us about the forest activities," Emma partially lied. The book seemed to have a lot of information that could be useful to them.
The princess gave a curious look like she was on to them. After a moment, she smiled. "I'm glad you had a good time. Dinner will be in an hour and a half. Continue to enjoy the books in the library. It was made because of a friend who adores books. I'm sure she would want more people like you to read these days." The other Mary Margaret left the room.
Emma sighed as she looked at Henry. "How did you know that she wouldn't want us to read the book?" asked Emma. Mary Margaret looked at Emma.
"Her asking us what we were doing was about the book? She didn't want us to read it?" questioned Mary Margaret. Emma nodded.
"It was obvious. Henry, what can you tell us about here? What happened?" He grabbed the book off the shelf again, and opened to the last page.
"You see this picture?" Henry said as he pointed to the picture with baby Henry. The pair nodded. "According to the story below, Henry was the Evil Queen's son, but was stolen by Snow White to prevent Regina to attack her." Mary Margaret looked shocked. Her own doppelganger took a child from its mother.
"How could... how could my other... my other me do such a... such a horrible thing?" Mary Margaret asked confusedly, choking on her own words. Emma put a caring hand on her mother's shoulder.
"I don't know. Henry, is there anything else?" Emma said as she removed her hand off her mother's shoulder. Henry looked at his mother.
"Not here. I need to read the book before I can tell you anything else," he explained. Emma nodded.
"Do you want us to leave you be for a few moments? We'll come and get you when it's dinner." Henry nodded.
"Ya, sure mom." Emma smiled, and put a hand on Mary Margaret's back as they walked towards the exit.
Once they were outside of the library, Emma stopped Mary Margaret from walking. "I'm sorry about this. Not everyone out there is good," explained Ms. Swan. Mary Margaret nodded as she wiped her tears.
"I know, it's just... I wish it wasn't me who was bad," replied the former teacher.
Emma sighed, "Sometimes, you don't know how people are on the inside. Even if it's your other self." Mary Margaret rested her hand on the door as she leaned into the door. Emma crossed her arms as Mary Margaret let her thoughts catch up to her words.
After a minute, Emma looked back at her mother. "Thank you Emma," Mary Margaret said nicely. It was hard to accept this, Emma knew. Sometimes, some people need a shove more than a push.
"Don't thank me," stated Emma. "It was all you." Mary Margaret looked deeply at her daughter. Emma wondered what thoughts her mother had: about them, about the worlds they came to, and even everything. She never knew how her mother handled everything.
Mary Margaret smiled. "I guess so," she said as she moved herself off the door.
"Come," Emma said as she moved her head to the left for a brief second. "Let's go see what's for dinner." Mary Margaret shrugged, and walked with Emma to the stairs.
...
Back in Storybrooke, the wolves are gone. None of the wolves Regina made existed anymore. Regina and David walked to Granny's Diner to get something before going back home from a long problem. "What did you mean by you think someone or something is coming to destroy us?" David asked as he turned his head to Regina.
She stopped moving and looked at him. She pointed at the clock. "It stopped moving again. I thought the problem was solved when Emma came and saved the town. The clock is telling me otherwise," she explained. The clock told everything. It was very... magical, but then again, the town itself was very magical.
David looked at the clock for himself. It has stopped moving. "Shouldn't we get Mr. Gold in on this? I mean, he may know something," questioned David.
Regina looked at him as she laughed with a smile, "You think Mr. Gold would help us? When would he ever help us?" He shrugged.
"Maybe when he may lose his own life." The smile on her face quickly faded.
She said in defeat, "Well... fine. Maybe you are right. Let's go see Mr. Gold." David and Regina turned around, and headed to Mr. Gold Pawnbroker & Antiquities Dealer.
Fifteen minutes later, Regina and David opened the door to Mr. Gold's shop. The bell on top of the door rang as they walked through the door. David looked around the shop while Regina headed to the front counter. Mr. Gold walked into the room. "Well, well deary. What can I do for the mayor today?" Mr. Gold asked. Regina looked at Mr. Gold blankly.
"Charming and I need your help. The clock has stopped ticking again. And it wasn't me this time," she explained. Mr. Gold looked at her as he looked through his shop. David walked out of the aisle he was in, and headed to the counter.
"Ah, Charming. If there isn't thing wrong with the city, you owe me a favour when and wherever I want. Deal?" he said curiously. Regina looked at Charming.
"What if there is actually something wrong with Storybrooke?" she replied. Mr. Gold headed to the back.
"Then I help you, and you still owe me a favour, bigger than the first offer. Maybe even two." Regina let out a regretful sigh.
She said, "Alright. Do you have anything that could figure out the magic on the town?" Mr. Gold came back with an old book in his hand. He opened it, and flipped through the pages.
Suddenly, he stopped at a page. "Here it is."
Mr. Gold read the page over before going back to the back of the store. Once he left, Regina turned the book around so she could read it. David looked over her shoulder. "What exactly will this spell do?" David said.
"Something good," she answered. David wanted to ask what she meant by that, but instead, he just nodded.
A few minutes, Rumpelstiltskin came back with some potions. He placed them over the table. "It may take a bit for the mixture to be complete," Mr. Gold told. Regina let out an angry sigh. She had no time. She wanted to get this done sooner rather than later.
"Fine. We'll wait her until you're done," she said madly. He nodded his head.
"Do what you please deary," he said. She snarled at him. Time is needed, but patience was key. The mayor knew her acquaintance had everything under control. She just hoped that his potion would work.
Hope this was good enough.
Judge away.
