Chapter 4: Walk in the Sun
A/N: hi everyone thank you so much for your awesome reviews. Here's the next chapter, hope you like it, sorry it's a bit crap: )
Sadly I do not own Danny Jones or the song I just own Anna and her story and all the other made up stuff.
Two weeks later
The familiar sound of my alarm clock filed my room as I woke up. I turned the alarm off and climbed out of bed. I was going back to school today. I wasn't that worried, nobody probably noticed I've been gone for the past two weeks.
I had a quick shower and got dressed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I looked in the mirror as I dryer my hair. You could still see the bruises that covered my arms. I pulled up my t-shirt slightly and sighed as the deep purple bruises became visible on my ribs.
It didn't really hurt anymore but I hated looking at what Ruby had done to me. I grabbed my hoddie off my bed and pulled it on. I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs to grab some breakfast before I set off for school.
"Is Danny coming to get you this morning?" my mum asked as I grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.
"No, he can't make it," I replied slinging my bag over my shoulder, "I'll see you later; I'm going to school now."
"Ok bye honey," my mum called after me and I exited the house.
I put in my headphones and turned my music up. I strolled down the street passing Danny's house on my way. He's probably left already, not that I care anyway.
Once I got to school I put my I-pod away and walked across the playground to the main building.
The corridors weren't very busy. Most people were outside chatting to their friends. I walked to my locker and opened it. I threw in the textbooks I didn't need and then slammed my locker shut as the bell rang.
I hurried off to registration like I do ever morning. After registration was over I went to my first lesson which was maths. Lucky me, what are the odds the first day back and my first lesson is maths.
As soon as class started I drifted off into my own little world. The rest of my morning went the same way. I let out a sigh of relief when the lunch bell rang. I jumped out of my seat and followed everyone down to the canteen.
I glanced over at the 'popular' table. I received a death glare from Ruby. I wasn't going to sit in here and listen to her slagging me off. There's only so much that I can take. I turned around and walked out of the canteen pushing past the football team on my way.
I just wanted to sit in a quiet place by myself. I headed to the music block. Music was the only reason I came to school, my music lessons were by far my favourite. My teacher, Mr Carter, was great. He let me use the music room at lunch time if I wanted to.
As I walked into the music block I heard a soft tune coming from the classroom.
This is strange, nobody is normally in here. I looked through the glass pane in the door into the classroom.
Danny was sitting on one of the tables, with his back to me, playing a guitar. Why was he here and not in the lunch room?
He opened his month and started to sing.
I wonder what it's like to be loved by you
I wonder what it's like to be home
And I don't walk when there's a stone in my shoe
All I know that in time I'll be fine
I wonder what it's like to fly so high
Or to breath under the sea
I wonder if some day I'll be good with goodbyes
But I'll be ok if you come along with me
Such a long, long way to go
Where I'm going I don't know
I'm just following the road
For a walk in the sun
For a walk in the sun
He has the voice of an angel. The song is beautiful. Danny carried on playing.
I pushed open the door carefully and slipped into the classroom. The door slammed shut behind me. Danny spun round to face me.
"I'm sorry," I said quickly, "I'm going to go now."
I reached for the door.
"Don't go," Danny said.
"Why?" I asked turning back towards him.
"Didn't you come here for a reason, I won't get in your way," Danny replied setting his guitar down.
"Erm…yeah I just came here to escape really," I said dumping my bag on one of the tables.
Wow it's really hot in here. Typical nobody had bothered to open any windows. I pulled off my hoddie and dumped it on top of my bag.
Danny gasped.
"What?" I asked nervously.
"Your arms," he exclaimed.
I looked down awkwardly at the bruises on my arms and shrugged.
"I get used to it," I muttered.
"I'm sorry," Danny said.
"Don't worry about it, anyways I better go, I shouldn't be here," I mumbled picking up my stuff. I raced to the door and pulled it open.
"Anna?" Danny called.
"Yeah?" I replied this time not turning around.
"One of my mates is having a party tomorrow night, do you want to go with me?" Danny asked.
That totally caught me off guard.
"What about Ruby?" I replied.
"She won't be there," Danny said, "so are you coming?"
"Erm…yeah I guess."
"Good, I'll pick you up at eight tomorrow might."
I walked out of the room and ran out of the music block. What the hell did I just agree to? What happened to me trying to stay away from him?
I groaned in frustration. I couldn't get his voice out of my head. That song was amazing.
The bell sounded bringing me back to earth. I pulled on my bag and rushed off to my afternoon classes.
I managed to get through Geography and then headed down to English. I crashed in my seat at the back of the class and waited with the rest of the class for my teacher to show up.
After ten minutes passed it became clear that the teacher wasn't coming so we all did whatever we wanted. I guess I could continue my story. I haven't touched my notebook for two weeks. I opened my bag and pulled out my book and a pen. I turned to a clean page and started to write.
Daniel stood frozen with shock. He couldn't believe it. He saw his best friend Chris walking towards him.
"What's wrong mate?" he asked.
"Anastasia left me," Daniel replied, his voice almost a whisper.
"Then what are you waiting for, go after her," Chris exclaimed.
"Are you sure?" Daniel asked.
"Hell yeah, you two have been together for so long, she's loves you dude, go after her," Chris replied patting Daniel on the back.
Daniel nodded. He had a plan.
Later that night
Daniel stood in front of Anastasia's house. He looked up at her window. He then bent down and picked up a small stone from the driveway. Daniel gripped his bunch of flowers in one hand and then threw the stone up at Anastasia's window.
The window opened and Anastasia climbed out onto the roof.
"Be careful," Daniel called up to her as she slid down the drainpipe like he did most nights.
As soon as Anastasia hit the ground she flung herself into Daniel's arms.
"I'm so sorry," she said kissing his cheek, "it's just my parents, they don't want us together, but I don't care anymore Daniel, I love you."
"I love you too," Daniel replied, "we don't have to stay here, let's run away together."
"How?" Anastasia whispered.
"Look, just pack you things and I'll come and get you tomorrow morning," Daniel replied.
"I'll pack my stuff now," Anastasia said hugging Daniel tightly.
"Before I go I want to give you something," Daniel said handing Anastasia the bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"There beautiful," Anastasia said looking down at her twelve red roses. She noticed that one of the flowers was artificial, (fake/plastic).
She looked up at Daniel.
"I'll love you 'till the last one dies," he said.
Anastasia kissed Daniel one last time and then climbed back up to her room.
I shut my notebook and looked up at the clock. The bell for home time was just about to ring. Most of my class had already walked out. I gathered my stuff and followed by their example. I stopped by my locker on my way out. I dumped in my useless books and my notebook. I wouldn't need it tonight or tomorrow night.
I made sure my locker was properly shut and walked out of the building. I made my way out of the school gate as the bell rang. Looks like I'll be spending my night trying to find something to wear for this party tomorrow night.
