Chapter 4: In To Deep

Hermione groaned as the sun peeked through the curtains of her new room. She knew that she'd have to face Malfoy when she woke up. The longer she kept her eyes closed she hoped to keep that from happening. Rolling towards the window she huffed. This is not what she had in mind for her weekend. She had gone into hiding for a reason. To get away from all of the Wizarding world. No matter how much she tried something kept pulling her back. Much to her dismay.

Feeling movement beside her she tried to quiet her breath. Maybe if she faked sleeping all day she could get away with it. A hand snaked across her hips and pulled her to a hard chest. Gasping a little she heard a deep chuckle. "Not used to waking up to a man, Granger?"

"On the contrary. I enjoy it." She furrowed her brow. The words left a bitter taste in her mouth. She had only ever woken up next to Ron. And that had only been twice in their entire relationship. "Well, Granger. Seems you are a minx." Draco pulled her hair away from her neck, leaning down he kissed the same spot that she had enjoyed so much last night. A small moan escaped her lips before realized. Gritting her teeth she turned in his arms. Gathering all of her Gryffindor strength she cupped his face with her small hands. Before she had a second thought she kissed him.

Shocked Draco closed his eyes, silently smirking at her. Interesting indeed. Seems her pride was getting the best of her. And he loved it. Messing with her was going to be fun. Draco knew she was trying to play him. Interesting just didn't describe it in the least. Kissing her back he thread his hands in her hair. As Hermione gathered more courage she slid her hand down from his face, across his chest. Slightly shocked she hadn't really expected that she had followed through with her plan.

'Alright, Malfoy. You wanna play...let's play.'

Using her hand on his chest she pushed him flat against the bed. Sitting up she threw her leg over his body and sat on his hips. Smirking at his face she leaned back down and kissed down his chest. "Good morning, Malfoy." Quickly sliding off of his lap, Hermione made her way to the bathroom, swaying her hips extra as she walked. If that didn't work to frustrate him, she really was out of her league. Safely in the bathroom she leaned against the counter. That had been more then she expected. And she enjoyed it. Far more then she wanted to. Shaking her head she reached for her toothbrush, dead set on scrubbing the taste of Malfoy out of her mouth.

Draco laid in the bed staring at the canopy of his bed. Hermione Granger was a minx. If she admitted to it or not. And she was fucking with his head. He was enjoying it. Sighing he sat up looking towards the bathroom door. The taps to the sink turned on. Throwing the covers from his body he trudged to the closet. He needed to go see his father. Things to settle. Things had happened so fast yesterday, there was much to discuss and get into order.

Aimlessly he stared at the neatly hung clothes and contemplated why he had even said yes to this whole ordeal. Maybe he had a grudge against Granger still after all these years. Or perhaps he just was fed up with all of the pressure that the new law was bringing to his normally quiet life. Non-the-less he was quite satisfied that now he didn't have to listen to his father saying, "You're a Malfoy. Malfoy's don't run from these types of things."

Shaking his head, Draco ripped a shirt from its hanger. If there was one person who irritated him more then Potter did, it would be his father. Sadly though all his father wanted now days was to make sure that Draco had everything he could need. Be it new clothing, a faster broom, or in this case; a wife. He wondered if his father was worried that the Malfoy line would end with him; that he only excepted a Muggle-born witch because his great 'legacy' would end. Whatever the case may be, Draco wanted to find out. Slipping his dress shirt on he listened to the water taps cut off and a soft humming come from within the bathroom.

As Hermione began her morning routine she hummed softly to herself. No tune really in mind, she busied herself with washing her face. Usually by this time Crookshanks would be purring along with her as he rubbed against her legs. Crookshanks! Her cat. She had forgotten her cat! How could she have forgotten her faithful companion. After all these years this would be the first time she had forgotten him! He was probably worried and scared! Dropping the rag in her hand to the counter she flung the door open startling Draco.

"You forgot my cat you git! You got everything but my cat! You heartless bast-"

"Your bloody cat is here Granger. The last I saw it my mother had it. Ruddy beast wouldn't even come to me. It seems to taken a fond liking to her."

"Your mother has my cat? Oh thank Merlin!" Heaving a great sigh she clutched her chest, relief flooding her. At least her cat was safe and warm. "Do you happen to know where she's at? I want to see him."

"Check the library. She spends a great deal of time there during the mornings. And Granger. Don't call me heartless. Ever. I made sure to get your bloody cat. You practically carried the thing everywhere in school." Sneering at her he jerked a pair of pants from the closet, and slammed the door shut. "I'm going out. I don't know what time I'll be back," he hissed at her. "Bloody well make yourself at home." Stalking to the bedroom door he threw it open and slammed in firmly behind him. She could hear angry his angry footsteps echo down the hallway. Waiting until she knew he was far way she dropped to the floor. It had been a long time since she had seen such anger in a person. Let alone him.

She shakily ran a hand through her hair. Hermione hadn't meant to anger him. It was the last thing on her mind. Racking her brain she tired to figure out what had exactly had angered him. "Don't call me heartless. Ever..." The words kept ringing through her mind. Calling him heartless had been spoken out of fear. She didn't truly think he was heartless. Not even when they were at Hogwarts. He had shown compassion. Very seldom. But he did.

Standing up on wobbly knees she made her way to her duffel bag. Rifling through it she found her favorite pair of jeans and a green sweater. Slipping them on she too contemplated what she would do now. She decided on finding Crookshanks first, then figure out how to swallow her pride and apologize to Draco. Shaking her head she smiled. That statement was not something she thought she'd ever be saying. Opening the door to the bedroom she peered out into the vast hallway. 'Well isn't this just peachy...' She thought bitterly to herself. Once again she was stuck in Malfoy Manor and wasn't sure which way to go. Not to mention the paintings on the wall seemed to hiss at her before she even stepped foot into the hallway. Schooling her face she took a deep breath and set off down the hall to find Narcissia.
