Finally, a new chapter! I hope you like it. Harry's gets sorted.

Harry's POV:

So we're all standing in a room, waiting to go in front of the rest of the school, and getting sorted. I hear some red haired kid say something about his brothers telling him that we had to fight a troll. Well, how stupid are these people, I mean, we don't know any magic yet, so how would that work, anyway?

This blond kid comes up to me and asks, "I hear Harry Potter was on the train, I'm guessing that it's you."

"Yeah, I'm Harry Potter."

He puts his hand out to shake my hand, "I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy. These are Crab and Goyle."

I keep my hands in my pockets, but say, "Great to know Draco Malfoy."

He looks surprised that I didn't shake his hand, but just then, McGonagall comes back in and leads us to the Great Hall.

"The ceiling of the hall is enchanted to look like the sky." I heard a brown haired girl say. It's good to know that there are some people hear that read up on this place.

"When I call your name, please come up to be sorted, ABBOT, HANNAH…"

Hannah got sorted into Hufflepuff… And so the sorting has begun. Daphne Greengrass got sorted into Slytherin, I guess I'll have to go over and say hello sometime. The brown haired girl, Hermione Granger, got sorted into Ravenclaw. Soon enough it's my turn. After my name is called, whispers break out, but I'm used to it, and can block it out. I put the hat on my head.

"Another one with good shields, please take them down. Thank you. Now, let's see. There's lots of bravery, but not foolish bravery. You can be cunning and tricky when you want, but not all the time." (I smile, that had to be why Greengrass got sorted into Slytherin. She's always playing tricks on everyone. She even got some of the council members once.) "You are very loyal to your friends, and you have a thirst for knowledge. Either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw would work. You're very interested in this place, and you want to learn as much as you can about your home. For that, it's got to be… RAVENCLAW." The last word was shouted out, and I took the hat off. While I'm walking towards the Ravenclaw table, I glance at Greengrass. I could tell that she was sad that we didn't get in the same house. But since I didn't get into Gryffindor, it will be easier to talk to her.

You may be wondering how I know Daphne Greengrass. Well, her parents knew my parents. They may not have been the best of friends here, but her dad and my mom were both in training to become Jedi. Her mother was friends with friends that were Death Eaters. One day, Voldemort (yes, I say his name. Why be afraid of a name?) came to their home. He tried to get them to join the death eaters. Thankfully, they had a week to decide; otherwise they would have been killed then and there. Mr. Greengrass decided that they had to get out, so he brought them to Corascant. They've lived there ever since. Her dad and my mom have kept in touch, so when we went back home, we lived near them. Daphne and I have been friends forever.

I sit down by the brown haired girl, Hermione Granger. We introduce ourselves, and then turn back to the sorting. A slightly nervous looking kid, Neville Longbottom, gets sorted into Gryffindor. The next person, Ernie McMillan, gets sorted into Hufflepuff. A red head, Ron Weasley, gets sorted into Gryffindor, where, it looks, are his brothers. The last person, Blaise Zambini, gets sorted into Slytherin. Once the sorting is over, Headmaster Dumbledore welcomes us, and the opening feast begins.

During the feast, I talk to Hermione Granger, and Padme Patil (2 of the girls in my year), and Michael Corner, and Terry Boot. Two of the boys that will be rooming with me this year. We also talked with one of the 6th year prefects, Robert Hilliard, and one of the 5th year prefects, Penelope Clearwater. We talk about everything from our lives, to our classes, to our hobbies. (Needless to say, I didn't say much about my life.) After we ate, Dumbledore told us to not use magic in the halls, not to go into the Forbidden Forest, and not the 3rd floor either. (Honestly, does he think all students are going to walk into a forest? Plus, does he not realize that no everyone is interested in what's on the 3rd floor?) After Dinner the prefects take us up to our common room.

As we were walking up the stairs to our Common Room on the 5th floor, the prefects told us to watch out for the staircases, they like to change. We came to the door to our Common Room, and the prefects used the eagle knocker to knock on the door. It asked him a question, which he answered. He told us that to get into the Common Room, we would have to answer a question, and if we can't, we would have to wait for someone else to get it right. He also said that the door somehow knows what year you are in, thus the first year questions will be relatively easy.

The first things I notice when I walk into the Common room are the graceful arched windows, the blue and bronze walls, and the domed ceiling which is painted with stars. There are tables, chairs, and bookcases which cover the expanse of the floor, and a white-marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw sits next to the door that leads to the dormitories. Inside the dormitories have four-poster beds which are covered in sky blue silk and you can hear the wind whistling around the windows. According to the upper years, the wind can be very relaxing. We have a meeting in the Common Room. The couches there are very comfortable. The prefects tell us that they will walk with us down to breakfast, and give us maps to find our way around. Well, it looks like I get to explore another place; I can't wait for this weekend! Daphne and I used to go exploring in the Temple all the time; we practically memorized the whole layout in a year to a year and a half.

The prefects have us sit on the couches that face the fireplace. Our Head of House, Professor Flitwick comes in, and he and the prefects explain things to us. Robert tells us that they really like our common room in the winter, because you can see the grounds without even leaving the tower! You can see the lake, Forbidden Forest, Quidditch pitch, Herbology gardens, and everything in between! After they explain how things will work, we go off to bed.

The next morning, I wake up with the sun. Maybe I should try and sleep in some days, oh well. I get up and go out to the common room to meditate. I meditate for about an hour or so when I feel a presence come down the stairs. I open my eyes and see Robert and the other 6th year prefect coming down the stairs.

"Already up, Harry?"

"I generally get up with the sun. Old habits die hard, I guess."

"Ah, Sophia and I usually get up early to study. You're right. Old habits do die hard."

"We could show you the way to the Great Hall if you would like."

"Thank you Sophia and Robert."

As we're walking down to the Great Hall, I memorize how many pictures are on the walls in between turns. I don't remember which pictures they all are, but a few always help. When Daphne and I were memorizing the layout of the temple we counted floor tiles and beams in between the turns. It helped a lot, so I thought this might help me. (It turns out that it did.)

When we get down to the Great Hall, I see that there are a few people down there. I notice there are quite a few teachers, some Ravenclaws (they must have passed me when I was meditating,) a few Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, and only a couple Slytherins. Too bad Daphne isn't one of them. We sit down, and they start talking about their classes, so I take out a piece of parchment and write down all the things I remember from the way down here. (This also helps in memorizing.) By the time I'm done with that, and put some food onto my plate, lots of others have trickled in. Some of the guys, along with Hermione, come in with Penelope and the other 5th year prefect. I talk to them for a while, before Professor Flitwick comes to give us our schedules. We have Transfiguration with the Hufflepuffs, History of Magic with the Gryffindors, and Herbology with the Slytherins today. The prefects say that that's not such a bad schedule. Robert tells us to watch out for the HOM teacher, Professor Binns. He's a ghost and only talks about the goblin wars. Robert tells us that if we want to learn anything in that class, to read the book, look in the library, and talk to upper years. Penelope tells us to watch out for the Slytherins, they can be sort of mean, but since we're Ravenclaws, it shouldn't be that bad. I see the Slytherins come in, and go over to talk to Daphne.

"Hey Daphne."

"Hey Harry!"

"What's he doing here; he's a Ravenclaw, not a Slytherin."

"Oh quiet Bulstrode, he's my best friend. Give him a break, will ya?!"

"Geez Greengrass. No need to be so snotty." she muttered.

"So, how are the Ravens treating you, Harry?"

"Not bad, and the snakes you?"

"Just fine. Except for the fact that our common room is in the dungeons… and it's cold down there. Otherwise it's fine."

"I doubt it could be as cold as they say Hoth is."

"I bet you're right Harry. Plus we do have heating charms set in down there for when it gets really cold."

"That's cool. Do you think we can go exploring and map out the castle this weekend?"

"Like we did with the Temple? That'd be awesome! Homework Friday night to Saturday morning and explore Saturday and Sunday, or the other way around?"

"I was thinking the first one."

"Works for me!"

"Cool. What's your schedule?"

"Charms with Gryffindor, Potions with Hufflepuff, and Herbology with you."

"Cool. Transfiguration with Hufflepuffs, History of Magic with Gryffindors, and Herbology."

"Homework in the library after Herbology?"

"Sounds great to me Greengrass, er Daphne. It's going to be weird calling you by your first name all the time, now."

"Don't worry, Potter. People from different houses generally call each other by their last names. Sometimes even people of the same house do it. We can switch just like we normally would."

"That's great." Hermione, Michael, and Terry come over to walk with me to Transfiguration. "See you in Herbology!"

"See you Potter!"

How'd you like Daphne being best friends with Harry, and a Jedi? Remember to review and tell me what you think.
