Warnings: Mentions of death, character death.

There is a flashback of some sort in this chapter. It depicts a time period in which Jaune is relatively new to his powers. Understand, Jaune is not yet the badass he is in the previous chapters.

Enjoy.

THE YELLOW FLASH OF VALE

CHAPTER FOUR – (BONUS OMAKE) AN EVENT OF PAST

. . . A year ago

.

An explosion rocked the docks. People were sent scrambling for safety as machineries, debris and what-not flew at all angles.

"HELP!'

The shrill cry that pierced through the noise sent me halting. With a hand above my eyes, shading it, I looked around, trying to find the source of the scream. My eyes widened perceptively as I made out four figures down the road, obscured by a haze of fire and smoke.

I rushed over to see a woman on the ground scrambling away from the intimidating assailants. I jumped, launching myself at the man nearest the woman, tackling him. A swift jab to the face took care of him.

Rolling sideways I dodged a bullet that impacted the downed thug. I stood up, throwing my kunai at the closest thug in one smooth motion. The kunai struck his thigh and rebounded off.

My eyes twitched and I appeared directly leveled with the ground. With a slight turn of my body, I jabbed at his knee.

Placing my hands below me, I raised my legs and spun, lashing out with a kick at his face. I continued the motion, going down and sweeping him off his feet, literally. Pushing down on my hands, I lifted myself up and back on my feet.

With the #2 thug down, I turned to thug #3. Who held the woman at gunpoint.

I brought my hands in a placating gesture, my upturned palm going back and forth.

"Mm. . . Just drop the gun and I promise you won't. . . um. . . get. . .arrested." I said, fibbing through my teeth.

"You expect me to believe that? Fool! I ain't that stupid!" The man slammed the butt of the weapon at the woman's temple, watching as she crumpled to the fall.

Taking the distraction for what it was, I quickly moved towards him. The thug, somehow sensing my approach, looked up. With a move that comes from practiced ease, he brought the gun, aimed it at me and fired three consecutive shots.

All three missed. The first I dodged with a panicked jerk of my head, the second, with a tilt of my head. The last, I deflected it down with the flat side of my blade.

Twisting my body, I released the kunai, happy with the way the weapon struck and disarmed him.

Just before I could reach him, a pained whimper reached my ears. All action stopped immediately.

Hesitantly, I brought my head down; towards the woman I was saving. Pain, worry and FEAR met my eyes and I recoiled in shock.

The woman laid on the asphalt, blood pooling from a wound in her throat. A wound that could only be made by a bullet. A bullet from the gun of the thug before me.

I brought my face up sharply, my eyes instantly zeroing on thug #3.

His face whitens in fear as his gaze met mine. Quickly, he bent and grabbed his discarded weapon, turning on his heels and sprinting away.

"Get back here!" the order left my lips, sharp but yet calm. I knew I would catch him; it was only just a matter of time. And when I do get him, there won't be anything left of him. That was a promise I intended to keep.

I leaned forward and pushed away from the ground, running after the criminal.

Seeing him turn round a corner, I jumped, kicking off from the wall beside me and flipping myself unto the roof, my legs never straying away from the direction the criminal had ran off to.

I vaulted over a rooftop sign, dropping hastily to my knees and sliding underneath a metal rod. Nearing the edge of the roof, I jumped, my hands stretched out.

Grabbing a hold of an electric wire, I swung myself up and released my hands. Flipping through the air, I made my way downwards.

Dropping down, I cornered him. As I closed in, the hooded convict reached to his waist for the bulge in his pants.

"Stay the hell away from me, huntsman!" He cried out, the pistol leveled at my chest.

A kunai left my palm and before he could blink, I was right in front of him.

The man panicked, the gun uncorked, the trigger pulled and a bang resounded in the alleyway.

"Argh!" I released a pain-filled shout as the bullet slammed into my shoulder, nearly knocking me off-balance.

Using the motion, I rotated my body and swatted the gun out of the thug's hand, sending it smacking against a wall.

Landing, I winced in slight pain as I rubbed my shoulder.

"I don't have time for this! Where's that damned get-away driver when-"

A loud honk heralded the arrival of a van at the entrance to the loading bay.

"Finally, I'm outta here!" The hoodlum said, turning on his heels and running towards the awaiting van, its driver yelling from the front.

He jumped into the passenger seat and the driver pressed down on the gas. Moving my shoulder to get used to the throbbing, I exhaled sharply before running after the speeding van.

I jumped, released my weapon and landed on the van with enough force to slow it down. The vehicle crashed through a warehouse sending me flying.

I landed roughly, rolling a bit before skidding on the floor, my weapon lodged into the ground.

I stood up, my hands instantly outstretched as the van sped towards me with no sign of stopping.

I had a crazy plan that just might work.

I stood my ground, my hands pumped with aura just in time for the hood of the vehicle to slam into me.

"Oof!"

I dug my heels as the engine revved, straining against me. I pushed against the van with all my might, making the wheels skid and the hood crumple from the might of my aura-enhanced strength.

"Oh hell nah!" the hoodlum swore, his expression one of panic.

"Ha!" I exclaimed, happy that my crazy plan worked.

With one final push, I heaved it to the side, sending it skidding into the wall with a crunch.

Shouts of fury erupted from within the van.

The rear doors opened up, revealing scattered stacks of metal cases. The badly bruised hoodlum fell to his knees and cried out as he clutched the case to his chest.

"Torchwick's gonna off us." He mumbled softly, yet loud enough for me to hear him.

"I'm tired of this." A voice sounded from behind the steering wheel before the door opened with a bang.

The get-away driver pushed himself out of the van. Landing on the floor, he walked towards me, rolling up his sleeves and cracking both knuckles threatening.

"This could turn out bad." I whispered to no one in particular, just as he charged at me.

"Die hero!" The driver shouted, his fist reared back, ready to deliver a powerful punch.

I tilted to the side, my body turning slightly as I evaded the punch. Kicking back with my left leg and grabbing a hold of his outstretched hand, I heaved him off his feet, over me and down to the ground.

Before he had a chance to get up, I was already on top of him, intending to end the fight quickly.

"Did you think it will be that easy?" The driver said smugly, kicking me off him with ease.

Yes, I thought, hitting the ground rolling. No one can fault me for that. Ever since I unlocked my aura and semblance, I had become stronger than most, if not all of my peers. Every fight I had didn't last even a minute, all ending with a quick flick of my wrist. I had expected this to be the same, sadly it isn't. Seemed like I have to work for this.

I stood up, stumbling slightly but with a grin present on my face.

"What's wrong hero? Didn't expect a driver of all people to be beating the fuck out of you, eh?"

The driver, turned psycho, reached out to his surroundings, his hands grabbing at any wooden crates and/or debris he could find, hurling them at me. I barely managed to dodge all of them, the few I couldn't, depleted my reserves with each hit.

Can't keep this up forever. . . have to end this now!, my thoughts seemed to say at that moment.

The psycho grasped a six-foot-tall shipping crate and hoisted it over his head menacingly.

"Square up, hero! When I'm done with you, there won't be anything left!"

I dashed towards him just as he released the gigantic crate.

Need to take him down with one move, I thought, jumping right over the crate.

As my body passed the wooden projectile, I reached out with a hand and pressed my palm to its surface. Feeling the familiar feeling of my aura flow through my veins like molten lava, I released my palm and flicked a kunai towards the psycho.

A crash resounded throughout the warehouse as six inches of wood slammed into the psycho, the crate having been exchanged with the kunai mid-air. The man having been caught unaware, had no time to prepare.

The psycho was sent colliding with the side of the van where he proceeded to scramble back into the vehicle.

He moved the gear downward and slammed onto the pedal. The van reversed sharply and accelerated past the entrance of the warehouse, skidding off into the night, its rear doors still hanged open.

"The case!'

One of the metal cases slid across the floor of the vehicle and flew out the back. I dived after it, soaring towards the ground, catching the scroll just before it contacted the ground.

I breathed out a sigh of relief. Who knew what was inside the case?

Apparently, it was dust. A ton load of them.

"Woah!"

.

.

Present day

.

"You use dust?"

I looked up to see the inquisitive faces of my teammates, their eyebrow collectively raised in unison at the large dust crystal I held to my face.

I shook my head rapidly, my hands following my movements second later. I stopped when the dust crystal glowed an ominous red and my teammates backed further away from me.

I didn't have time to respond as the crystal, ignited by my still un-controlled aura, exploded right in my face.

Sent flying by the explosion, I slammed into the wall and got an imprint taken on it. I fell, face-planting on the floor.

Standing up, I slammed a hand repeatedly against my chest and coughed harshly to clear the smoke from my mouth and lungs. When I was done, I leveled a deadpan stare at my roommates.

"No, I don't use dust. And that's why."

This is an omake. It may or may not be part of this story's cannon.

Next chapter will be out sooner than expected. Don't flame because of short chapter, like stated earlier, next one will be longer. And yes, I know the last part wasn't necessary but think of it as an omake of sort.

See you next time guys!
