Max P.O.V. ~~

The elevator opened with a ding, dropping me off at the top floor of the apartment complex. I dragged my suitcase out with me and stepped into the hallway. There was a single door straight ahead with the letter PH engraved on a golden plaque. Other than that, the hallway was empty. The elevator closed behind me as I walked to the suite. The door was left slightly ajar and I pushed it open with my spare hand.

I don't think anything could have prepared me for what I saw when I opened the door. The room was abso-freaking-lutely beautiful. And huge. And classy. And elegant. And I could have lived here forever without ever leaving if I had too.

"Max, come check out the view!" Nudge called over excitedly. Both her and Ella had their faces smushed against the floor to ceiling glass panel windows that covered the the far wall. Dropping my suitcase at the doorstep, I walked over and joined them. If I thought the view inside was good, it was nothing compared to what lay outside.

Beyond the windows, Paris lay bare. The buildings, both old and new, rose from the ground in clusters while antique bridges leaped over waterways. In the background, the Eiffel stood strong and tall. It looked like every single tourist picture of Paris I had ever seen and then some.

As we stared out the windows, there was a quick knock at the front door. I turned around to see Fang leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed against his chest. He smirked quickly before lifting his hand for a quick wave.

"Aw, Fang. Did you miss me that much?" I looked at my bare wrist and pretended to look at an imaginary watch. "It's only been a few seconds since I left you," I teased.

His lips quirked up in his typical half smile. "What can I say? I have never met someone quite like you. I yearn for your presence and I ache in your absence. Without you by my side, I know not who I am nor who I can be. You are my world, my soul, my everything! You make me happy when skies are grey and I crave your company. Please don't ever leave me again Max! I don't think I could bear it!" He finished with one hand on his heart and another against his forehead as he swooned to the side.

By now Nudge and Ella had turned around to witness Fang's display. They were clapping enthusiastically in the background.

"Do I get a cheesy yet totally romantic monologue too Fang?" Ella asked.

Fang smirked. Again. "Would you like one Ella? I'm sure I could come up with something. It might come off the top of my head but I shall mean it from the bottom of my heart."

She swooned nearly falling into Nudge's arms. "I'm expecting one too now, Fang! You can't just give one to Maxie and promise Ella one without coming up with one for me!"

I rolled my eyes. Those two would never change.

"So Fang, what brings you to our humble abode," I asked gesturing to our suite. It looks anything but humble right now and from Fang's signature single eyebrow lift he agrees.

"Actually I came to see if you guys would like a tour tomorrow? I'm free and I have nothing else to do so I figured why not show three lovely ladies around?"

I turned to Ella and Nudge. "Are you guys cool with having a tour tomorrow?"

They responded simultaneously, "Of course, Maxie!"

"Guess we're game!" I said, turning back to Fang.

"Cool, I'll meet you guys here at 8 then. Make sure you're up bright and early," he said looking at me. I stuck my tongue out at him. He obviously thought I was a heavy sleeper and loved sleeping in... He thought correctly. Fang waved goodbye and winked at me before walking out and closing the door behind him.

Nudge and Ella squealed behind me as I sighed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.

I woke up the next morning to the sounds of shouting and yelling.

I groaned and rolled over trying to cover my ears with my pillows but the noise wouldn't die down. "Nudge! Ella! What the hell are you doing this early in the morning? And why are you making so much noise?"

My only response was more yelling and more shouts. I rolled out of my bed and looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table. 6:30 A. freaking. M. Who wakes up this early on vacation?

Running my hands through my tangled hair, I tried my best to tame it down. I swear, my bedhead is the absolute worst. It looks like a flock of birds flew in in the middle of the night, made their nest in my hair, had their babies, and left before morning.

I passed by the mirror hanging on the wall and caught a quick glance. Scratch that. It wasn't birds, it was raccoons. That had to be the only explanation for why my hair looked as if someone purposely styled every strand to point in a different direction. Quickly, I pulled at the biggest knots and tangles and managed to subdue the disaster that called itself my hair.

I walked over to the bathroom trying to rub the sleep out of my eyes. I was seriously going to murder Nudge and Ella for disturbing my slumber.

When I opened the door to the bathroom, all I saw was make up, hair products, skin care items, lotions, and brushes everywhere. In front of the mirror, Ella and Nudge were wrestling with the curling iron. Ella had her hair half curled and half straightened.

"Ella, you've been using that for the last half an hour! It's my turn now!"

"No way Nudge! Can't I just finish my hair at least? I'm halfway done and here you are trying to take it from me!"

"That's because my hair takes so much longer to curl and you know that! I have to straighten it and then curl it in order to get perfect waves! So give it to me!"

"No! I need to finish my hair!" Ella said.

"No! I need to finish my hair!" Nudge retorted childishly.

I looked at them in shock. "Guys! Guys! What's going on here?"

"We're getting ready for the tour today and I am trying to look my best when Fang comes so that I can have all his attention today, but Nudgey here keeps getting in my way!" Ella responded. She yanked on the curling iron she and Nudge held in their hands but nothing happened.

"Puhlease! If anyone is going to have Fang's attention, it's going to be me. Now give me the curling iron, woman!"

"Not on your life!"

"Nice hair by the way, Max!" Nudge exclaimed as she wrestled with Ella. For as long as I could remember, Nudge and Ella were there to make fun of my bed hair every single morning.

"Yeah!" Ella agreed. "It really brings out your inner cavewoman. Now give me back the curling iron Nudge!"

I looked at both of them strangely. Just yesterday they were trying to hook me up with Fang and now they were fighting over who gets to have his attention? I will never understand those two.

I figured both Nudge and Ella were too busy to appreciate any sarcastic comeback I had for the cavewoman comment so I just let it slide.

I walked over to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of milk while Ella and Nudge duked it out in the bathroom. Eventually, their harmless fighting became background noise, and I searched the kitchen for something I could eat. I pulled out the pancake mix and everything else I needed to make myself some pancakes. If I was going to up this early, I might as well put this extra time to use because there is no way I would be able to sleep with those two maniacs.

I had just finished stirring the pancake batter and begun to look for a pan when Nudge and Ella finally strolled out of the bathroom, their hair done and their faces made up.

"Are you guys done acting like 5 year olds?" I laughed.

Ella crossed her arms over her chest and turned her face up so her nose was in the air in an expression of mock haughtiness. "For your information, we were not acting like 5 year olds. We were acting like any normal teenage girl would do when a hot guy is coming over."

"Are you calling me an abnormal teenage girl?"

"Well you certainly dress like one," Nudge quipped with a smile.

Oooh. She was going to pay for that. "Is that so?" I asked with a cheeky grin. They had no idea what was coming. "Well at least I'm not the one with pancake batter in my hair."

"What are you talking about, I don't have pancake batter in my hair," Nudge said genuinely confused.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked. I grabbed my bowl of pancake batter, stuck my hand in and pulled out a handful of the gooey substance. I threw the ball of goo at Nudge and hit her right on her forehead.

She screeched. "Max you are so going to pay for that!"

"Oh yeah?" I taunted. "Come and get me!"

Nudge ran at me, batter dripping down her face. I grabbed a handful of batter and prepared myself. As she neared me, I effortlessly dodged out of her path and dumped the handful of batter right. on. her. head.

Nudge glared at Ella and I as we laughed, tears streaming down our faces. "You think that's funny do you?" She lunged at me and managed to grab the batter bowl while I was hunched over gasping for breath before pouring half its contents down the back of my shirt. "Take that Maxie!"

I screamed as the wet, cold, and icky traveled down my back. Ella clutched her sides as she laughed.

"Ella! Don't think you're getting away with this either!" Nudge yelled as she flung the remaining batter at Ella.

Ella gasped in shock as the felt the batter spray across her freshly done face and clothes. She looked up at Nudge after examining the damage done to her outfit of the day and calmly said, "It's on."

And so it began. The breakfast batter battle of the century. The three of us were laughing as batter flew across the modern kitchen. I grabbed Ella in a headlock and using the excess batter I collected, I rubbed it deep into her scalp. "I hear pancake batter is good for the roots," I teased.

We were all so wrapped up in our batter battle that none of noticed the door open at 8 o'clock sharp as Fang slipped into our apartment. In fact, none of noticed him at all, even as he stood in the kitchen entrance watching the scene with a more than a hint of amusement on his face.

"Take this Nudge!" I yelled, aiming a well placed batter ball at her head, but at the last second she ducked and avoided the flying projectile. Fang, on the other hand, was not so lucky. The batter ball hit him square in the chest, and I looked in horror as it slowly dripped down his black t-shirt (obviously) before falling on the floor with a splat. Nudge was about to return her own batter ball when she saw the look on my face and spun around to see what had shocked me.

"Oh crap," Ella said as she stood in front of the refrigerator, a batter ball in each of her hands.

Fang looked at the batter staining his chest then back to me. One look at his face and I knew I was in trouble. "Well Nudge, Ella. It was great knowing you! I gotta run. See ya!"

I looked around for an exit but found none. The kitchen had only one entrance/ exit and that was currently occupied by Fang. However, it did have an island.

I ran behind the island counter and watched Fang carefully. I was tensed on the balls of my feet ready to run at any moment, and then without showing any indication, Fang leaned down, grabbed some batter and threw it at my shoulder. I ducked and watched it hit the cabinets behind me.

I leaped up to stick my tongue out at Fang, but he was no longer there. Fang had made his way around the island and was coming for me. I yelped a little quickly and began to run, trying my best not to slip on any of the puddles of batter. Desperate to keep the mess contained yet stay as far as I could from Fang, I chose to run in circles around the little island in the kitchen.

"I'm so getting you for that, Max."

"Bring it on, Fangy poo."

He feinted left and I started moving right, but before I could notice, he changed directions. Now I was running straight at him. To make matters worse, I was running straight at him through a puddle of batter and obviously, with the luck I have, I managed the slip and fall right into Fang's arms.

The slippery flooring combined with my forward momentum was too much and Fang fell backwards with me still in his arms. I landed on his chest, my face inches away from his.

Strands of batter soaked hair fell across my face as we stared at each other. Fang still had no batter on his face and I could see every chiseled detail including his high cheekbones and defined jawline. Hot, hot, hot. Did I say hot? I could even feel his hard chest under my body and for a second I was thankful my face was covered in pancake batter so that Fang would not be able to see me blush.

Eyes twinkling, Fang reached up and tucked my falling hairs behind my ears, his hand lingering on my cheek for a second. Just as I was about to lean into the contact, I felt a splash of cold against my cheek and saw the cocky smile on Fang's face.

That dirty cheat.

Ella and Nudge broke the spell with their sudden scream of "Fang! Are you all right?"

I crawled off him slowly and used the cabinet to pull myself up.

"Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about me," he soothed. He got up easily and made a big show of wiping off as much of the pancake batter from his clothes as he could.

"Yeah guys, I'm okay too. Thanks for the concern and all."

"Yeah, yeah Max. Whatever. Don't be such a drama queen. We're just being polite and making sure our tour guide isn't injured."

"He is our tour guide after all. We kind of need him for today."

Fang grinned at me. "Yeah, Maxie. I could have been severely hurt and then who would you have to show you all the secrets of Paris?"

As the four of us stood there in a messy kitchen covered in pancake batter, I rolled my eyes. I had a feeling I was going to be doing that often.
