Orange: Hello Readers. Sorry for the long wait but here is the third chapter. I'm afraid it is a shorter chapter but I have been busy this week.

Chapter 3

Yugi gulped as he was shoved towards the desk at the front of the line. The female guard looked at him and Yugi shivered. She looked like she was x-raying him with her eyes.

"Name" She demanded.

"Y-Yugi Muto" Yugi stuttered. He felt Darren from behind him slip his hand into his own. Yugi was thankful as he was reminded that he wasn't alone. The desk clerk scanned down a list before ticking a name.

"Age"

"Eighteen"

"Your Birthday?"

"June fourth" (a month before my birthday XD)

"Rank"

"Apprentice lightening and ice mage"

"Pass through the portal"

Yugi cried out in terror as he was ripped away from Darren and shoved towards the portal. "YUGI" Darren shouted out as he tried to push past the guards that were blocking his way.

"Darren" Yugi shouted back, the last thing he saw was Darren struggling towards him with his hand reached out before he fell through the portal and everything went dark.

xXx

Yugi groaned and shifted slightly where he lay. He felt lightheaded but he could hear the sloshing of water around him. Yugi moaned and relaxed against the cold, mushy ground. Wait a minute. Yugi bolted upwards and took in his surroundings.

Flooded marshland expanded out into the horizon on all sides. Lanky, reedy, wilting grass stuck out in muddy clumps on dark brown mud. Dusky murky water rested calmly in still pools. Small tiny flies buzzed around lazily in the grey, dull air as the sun hid behind its clouds.

"A…Marshland? Where the hell am I? And where is everyone else?" Yugi wondered aloud as he hesitantly approached a large pool of water. He crouched down and peeped into the murky depths with his amethyst eyes. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw sudden movement.

A large brown coloured fish with sleek scales skimmed through the water. It had ebony black eyes that seemed to be locked on to the little mage. The fish was enormous, about two metres long in length and about a meter wide with two large tentacles growing out from beneath it.

Yugi backed away from the strange looking fish. Wading through the water was no longer an option meaning that he would have to try and find a path on the mud. Yugi sighed and started on his long trek.

Before he knew it the sun was declining through the sky and the day was nearing its end. The shadows were starting to creep in casting an eerie gloom over the marsh. 'I'll have to find somewhere to sleep soon' Yugi thought as he scanned the area for a place to stay.

In the distance Yugi saw a patch of grass elevated a little higher than the surrounding marsh so he headed over. After all higher is better right, especially when there are creepy fish lurking around.

Yugi groaned as he sat down and rested his aching legs. His stomach rumbled loudly making him jump at the noise. It had been hours since he had eaten or drunk anything and now he was starting to feel faint because of it. He didn't even want to try catching any of the fish or touching the water for fear of the monstrous fish underneath that seemed to be watching him, following his every movement.

Yugi exhaled slowly before he picked some grass and formed a small pile. He held his hands together by his lips and murmured "Firefly" before blowing gently into his hand. A small orb of fire appeared in his hand which he let fall to the pile of grass. The fire burned gently generating a small amount of light and heat.

'This will have to do for now' Yugi thought as he curled around his makeshift fire and fell into and uneasy sleep.

xXx

Yugi groaned as the call of sleep beckoned to his dozing mind. It couldn't be morning yet as it was still dark so why had he started to wake up? Yugi shuffled around a little trying to get into a more comfortable position when he felt it. Something slimy and wet curled around his ankle.

Suddenly the slimy object tightened and pulled him down into the water. Yugi cried out as he was completely submerged in the ice cold water. Yugi whimpered and closed his mouth as water started to pour down his throat leaving a horrible taste.

Yugi held his breath as he frantically tugged at the tentacle clenched around his ankle. Yugi's head shot up as he saw movement and was met with the face of the fish dragging him to an early death. The fish now had its mouth open and was bearing jagged spikey teeth that seemed to be stained red with blood.

Yugi started to panic as the fish started reeling him in, bringing him in close, bringing him further down. Yugi's lungs were starting to hurt from the lack of oxygen. Yugi punched and tore at the tentacle but it didn't even faze the killer fish.

Yugi clapped his hands together and thought of the spell he wanted to use.

"Shocking grasp" Yugi gurgled out through the water as his own hand grabbed onto the tentacle. Yugi felt like he was being stabbed all over by hundreds of knives as he was shocked. He knew that using a lightening attack underwater would affect him too but he never knew that it would be that bad.

The fried fish floated in the water dead, its tentacle finally released Yugi's leg. Yugi ignored the pain radiating through his body as he swam back to the surface and broke through to the air just in time. Yugi gulped in the air before he dragged himself back up onto the grass.

He panted quickly as he tried to fight the tears building up in his eyes. 'I hate you Atem. This is your fault, this is all your fault. I will kill you for this, even if it is the last thing I ever do. I will not rest until you are dead'. Yugi grimaced in pain as he forced himself to his feet. He fled away quickly using the night as his cover while five more fish gathered where their fried friend and ceased to live.
