Heading back down Meilleur Mountain.
Breeze's P.O.V
"You Idiot!" I yelled as I threw the body to the ground, I was far enough away from the rest of the team for them not to hear me. I couldn't sense their magic energy anymore. I was worried about Natsu's hearing the most, I'm not used to worrying about other Dragon Slayers and their abilities, but Natsu could hear Laxus before I could, almost as soon as Lucy stopped to have a break.
The stupidly dressed man let out a grunt as he landed on his shoulder, I didn't pity him, I even felt like he deserved worse. "Were you trying to kill him?! What if I hadn't stopped you?!" I growled at my idiotic brother, Laxus chuckled. The man ripped off his black mask, revealing a disheveled mess of blonde hair and a smug grin.
"Hey little sis, don't worry I was just testing your team, I wanted to know if they're able-" "Well they are! You shouldn't interfere" I interrupted Laxus, my voice thick with rage. I ran my hands through my long hair flicking the ends out in frustration. They were capable before my arrival, don't doubt your own guild, brother" I spat. I could feel a tingling rage in my throat, a feeling that usually only happened when I was deep in a fight, one that let me know my Dragon Slayer magic was ready. I let out a shaky breath, knowing my reaction was blown out of proportion in the slightest.
"Hey sis, it's okay" Laxus looked worried, he put his big hands on my small shoulders. I took a deep breath, despite my appearance and usual temperament, I have a very short temper and I'm prone to reacting on a whim, letting my emotions get the better of me. Green eyes looked over my face, trying to search for my train of thought.
"Erza knew it was you" I mentioned, in attempt to damage his self confidence about the whole situation, not a very good disguise. Laxus just nodded as a reply, no doubt he could tell when the redhead didn't wipe the floor with him. I rolled my eyes.
"Did Grandpa send you?" I asked, hoping I was wrong.
"Yes but he told me to keep my distance and I just couldn't help myself" Laxus smirked, enraging me more. He started to walk back up the mountain. "Why doesn't he trust me?" I called after him and jogged a little to catch up with my brother,
"You know why"...
Meilleur Mansion.
Lucy's P.O.V
"Hopefully Breeze gets here alright" I stared out at the beautiful stars blanketing the night sky. It was a view that never failed to soothe me.
We had arrived at the client's mansion and it reminded me eerily of home. The large waste of space saw hardly a soul, but the rooms were kept clean, the garden watered. I left a bitter taste in my mouth when I thought of places like this. Once we arrived the butler had greeted us and shown us to our rooms. He assured us that first thing tomorrow morning we would have an audience with the head of the house. Though the room was grand and luxurious I couldn't help but stare at the stars, believing they were a much prettier sight than golden trims and velvet curtains.
There was a light knock on my door, taking my thoughts away from the lights in the sky. I frowned slightly wondering who it could be, knowing that if it were Natsu or Gray they wouldn't have bothered stopping for the courtesy of a knock.
"Come in~" I sung. At my invitation the door was pushed open slowly, I turned around to watch the person to enter. "Ms. Heartfilia, it is nice to finally meet you" A handsome young man walked into my room. I watched him cautiously as a natural instinct to be wary of attractive strange men kicked in. After the fake Salamander managed to get me with that charm spell back in Hargeon, I've been extra cautious. He looked quite classy and his attire and posture screamed rich, he had stylish caramel brown hair that seemed to grow darker at his roots. He had green eyes that pierced through the dim lighting in the room. I squirmed a little under his gaze from my seat at the window.
"H-Hello, who are you?" I pushed myself off the windowsill and took a few steps closer to the man, I felt drawn in by him. I didn't have a dragon Slayers nose, but his scent still managed to find its was to me, reminding me of a home-cooked meal or a warm blanket. A smirk played on the man's lips as he took note that I was staring.
"I am Carter Meilleur, the Lord's son" He stated, I expected his tone to hold more arrogance, but to my surprise it seemed quite casual. The more I thought about his late night visit the more uncomfortable I seemed to get. I took a step back and tried to wiggle out an excuse. I let a yawn rip through my lips, placing a hand daintily over my gaping mouth.
"W-well it's very nice to meet you, I'm sorry if I seem distracted but I am waiting on a friend." I sighed, stretching to emphasise, my sudden fatigue. He seemed to get the hint loud and clear with made me fill with relief. I thought that was going to be harder... maybe he actually did come to introduce himself.
"Well I am sorry to interrupt, hopefully I will be seeing you soon" he took a large step forward to close the gap between us and reached for my hand. As if by a force of habit, I let him take it. His lips softly pecked the back of my hand and I could feel a smirk dance across my skin.
"Goodnight Ms. Heartfilia" He walked over to the door, giving me a quick look before he disappeared from the room. I stood still for a moment, blinking. It was almost like he was gone as soon as he appeared. I started to wonder if he was actually here at all, or it was just my imagination running wild because I'm a little desperate for a boyfriend... Oh god please not let it be that.
Before I could dramatically fling myself onto my bed a voice just outside my door caught my attention.
"This is your room ma'am" A rough voice said from the other side. The handle of the door turned and the Storm Dragon slayer entered. She looked fresh, no trace of any injury or even a brush of dirt could be spotted upon first glance, I let out a sigh of relief. I wasn't expecting her to come back limping or missing an arm, but if I were in her shoes, I'm sure something along those lines would have happened to me.
"Hello Lucy" she smiled and sat down on the bed closest to the door. Her face had a soft smile that reached her eyes.
"Breeze! Are you okay? How was it? Did you find out who it was?" I climbed onto the bed and sat next to her, tucking my knees under my body. I looked a her in excitement, I was curious to know if the man that attacked Natsu had a top secret ninja mission. It was more likely that he had something to do with our job, considering he intercepted us on the way here. I slumped forward a little, the thought of having to fight a bunch of ninja's on this job wasn't at all what I signed up for.
"I'm fine and no Lucy it wasn't my right to know who it was, I left that up to the police. They were quite confident he had no ties to our job or our client though" She said, adding the part about his irrelevance to the job almost as an afterthought. I trusted Breeze knew what she was doing and didn't push her any further on the subject. I was just glad our job didn't have ninja's involved after all.
I flopped back onto the bed we were both sitting on "Well okay, so what do you want to do?! I'm not tired" I groaned, the Lord's son's possible visit -though I'm still not 100% sure it even happen- had left me more awake than I would like to be just before midnight. I rolled around in the bed a little, my limbs were like jelly at my sides.
Breeze didn't seem bothered by the prospect of staying up a little later, which I silently cheered for. The girl was probably tired, in the end she had to wake up the mountain twice today. But here she was, a little trooper, entertaining my childish whims.
"What did you have in mind" Breeze leant back, using her arms to support her. She looked over her shoulder, grey eyes looking at me with intrigued curiosity.
I tapped my chin for a moment, but when this idea came to me, it snowballed into something a little extreme.
The Boys Room, Meilleur Mansion.
Gray's P.O.V
Why Natsu? Why does Erza get a room to herself and Ihave to share with Natsu? Oh and who could forget the cat... "I wonder how Breeze went with the bad guy? He was pretty big" Natsu voiced out loud to no one in particular, he was laying in his bed with his arms tucked behind his head staring at the roof. Happy was by his side mimicking him almost exactly. He'd been thinking out loud for the past 20 minutes, most of his musing revolved around the newest blonde member of our group.
"I'm sure she fine Natsu, she stopped that punch right?" Happy sighed, his thoughts ran through different scenarios of what could of happened.
"I really want to see her in a fight, a proper one ya know?" Natsu started to smirk, but his body thrashed a little, restless at the thought.
I snickered "Why don't you ask her Natsu?" I could see Natsu perk up at my suggestion but his features were unsure. I don't think even I was stupid enough to take on a Dragon Slayer that Gramps had hidden away. She must have been kept separate for a reason... Come to think of it, no one has mentioned why she was back.
I sat on the side of my bed and swung my legs slightly. I could see Natsu debating if he could win this fight of not. With the power of Lighting, Water and Air on her side, it wasn't looking good for the lonely little matchstick.
"oooooh~ Natsu's scared!" Happy stood up and started jumping around Natsu on the king sized bed chanting "Natsu's scared~" over and over. The Dragon Slayer looked like he was going to burst "I'm not!" Natsu yells after about 30 seconds of Happy's little song. "I will challenge her to a fight! Right now!" He jumped up off his bed.
I groaned, "Natsu not now she's probably asleep. Think about it, she had to walk up the mountain twice, do you really want to wake her up?"
Happy giggled at my warning. "That's probably the only way you could win!" The cat remarked. I wanted to stop him but then again I wanted to see his ass get whooped as she beats him to a pulp.
Natsu and Happy had disappeared from the room leaving me alone. I couldn't help but sigh in relief, that idiot always leaves my ears ringing with his voice. I laid back on my bed and rubbed the bridge of my nose, trying to soothe the ringing to at least a duller tone. I sat there for another moment before thinking back to Natsu's challenge. If they do end up fighting I doubt it would last long. I better not miss out.
I pushed myself up so I could stand, but as I did, a force pushed me straight back down. I let out a groan, admittedly a little winded and startled from the sudden impact.
"Oh no~ Gray I'm so sorry!" A soft voice sung, and then the weight lifted from my chest.
I blinked "What just...?" I was pulled up and the person started patting my back. A soothing motion that did help to wake my nerves up again.
"Gray, Gray?" The voice sounded worried, I started to realise that it was because I was extremely unresponsive.
I snapped out of my daze and came face to face with Breeze "I'm so sorry Gray, Lucy was trying to prank Natsu and she made be crawl through the air conditioning ducts, and... well it didn't work so well" she scratched the back of her head sheepishly. Her face covered with her signature blush. Her eyes seemed so genuinely apologetic she almost made me apologise for sitting under the air vent in the first place.
"It's okay Breeze, I'm tougher than I look" Wow, that was so cheesy, Breeze seemed to think so too and giggled.
"As long as you're okay" she replied sweetly.
My gaze drifted down her body, I noticed she had different clothing on than her usual outfit she wore earlier today. She had removed her black trench coat and put on an army green sweater, it went nicely with her tight black jeans and a matching beanie. To be honest it looks like Lucy dressed her up in the movie cliché 'burglar' outfit. It wasn't too much of a stretch to assume Lucy was in charge of the outfit if this whole 'prank' was her plan in as well. After staring at her for probably too long I noticed a small bag full of white powder in her hand, my eyes went wide as she smirked and reached inside.
My eyes met hers and I saw an evil glint flicker through them.
"No-" before I could stop her the smirk turned into a grin that lit her face. She blew the handful at me then used some sort of spell to make it stick to my body, she ran out of the room followed shortly by me. I rushed to grab her waist, determined that if she was going to get me, I was taking her down with me. She let out a laugh as she narrowly avoided me arm. Slipping out of the door gracefully.
The powder smelt sweet, like roses, but felt extremely heavy and weighed me down as I tried to chase after Breeze. She seemed to have given me the slip, I skidded to a stop as I turned one of the many corners in this vast mansion of rooms and potential hiding places. I was sure she was headed this way and yet there was no sight of her. I stopped running and tried to focus on her magic energy, but again, nothing.
Damn this stuff is everywhere! I looked down at myself, I was only wearing boxers but they seemed to be nonexistent as the powder stick to me like a white morph-suit. I shrugged with a smirk and headed back to Natsu and my room, thinking my next move would be a shower. A thought struck me as I reached for the door handle for our room. She would have gone back to her room. Their room was the door to the right of ours, I smirked, Here I come...
In one swift movement, I swung open their door and was hit straight on by a rain of feathers, and so it seems they just happen to stick to the magic powder. I managed to sigh out the few feathers that fell into my mouth, adding to the whole effect.
"AHAHAHA" Natsu's obnoxious laugh filled the room "GRAY LOOKS LIKE A GIANT CHICKEN" other laughs join Natsu's... Lucy, Happy and Breeze.
"You got him good Lucy!" Happy laughed, I managed to wipe most of the feathers off my face to see Lucy and Happy rolling on the floor while Natsu and Breeze sitting crossed-legged on a bed chuckling and giggling. I smirked maliciously as I took a run up and pounced on the two on the bed, covering them in powder and feathers. Breeze accidentally rolled off the bed, laughing as she tried to spit out the feathers that had got caught in her mouth.
Natsu on the other hand, did not look to pleased "YOU BASTARD" He yelled at me "YOU LAUGHED, IT'S ONLY FAIR" I yelled back, our foreheads butting.
"Boys, Boys I'm sure there are people trying to sleep in this house, there is no need to fight" Breeze smiled, her lips letting out small giggles every now and then. She stood up and tried to pick off the few feathers that were stuck to her.
I just sat on the bed a little ways away from Natsu, unsure what to do next. It was clear these feathers were spelled to the powder and I was starting to doubt a simple shower would take them off. "How long is this going to last?" I asked, knowing I wasn't going to like the answer.
Lucy let out a laugh "I spelled it for forty-five minutes of chicken loving fun!", she seemed truly chuffed with herself.
Breeze stood up from where she had fallen down, picking at a few white feathers that seemed to have attached themselves to her jumper. Presumably forgetting we were here, or that it isn't normal to take your clothes of while in company -hypocrite-, she simply lifted her jumper over her head and castes it aside.
I could feel my face flush with a raging blush. She stood in the middle of the room wearing jeans and a bra, definitely a sight worth seeing. I could see Natsu stiffen at my side, his mind likely going through a similar track as mine.
Lucy giggled nervously "Aha Breeze her have this~" Lucy threw her one of her pink shirt. Breeze took the shirt in confusion, she didn't seem to realise what she was doing wasn't normal etiquette. After all her examples for normal behaviour did include me.
Natsu cleared his throat, squirming, "I'm gonna get back to bed now, Night Bre- Night Guys" He walked out of the room with his blush not wavering.
I stood up from the bed. "Sorry 'bout that, see you tomorrow" I apologised to both of them. Wait why the hell am I apologising?! Breeze stood in front of me, close enough that I could touch her "See you tomorrow, Gray" she smiled and gave a small wave, I walked past her to leave bumping her arm softly as I left.
Breeze's P.O.V
Both boys left with deep red cheeks and flecks of mischief in their eyes. I was a little confused as to why they got up in such a hurry. Gray even left without pestering us to remove the spell.
"Woah, they both totally like you!" Happy exclaims, I frowned. They didn't like me before?
"Maybe we won't start picking up Gray's habits hey Breeze?" Lucy softly suggested, gesturing to the shirt in my hand. I looked at it still confused as to what she was trying to tell me. I sighed and looked at the small trail of feathers Gray had left in his retreat.
"Well that prank worked!" I changed the subject, unsure as to why Happy was hinting that they didn't both like me before now. I put on the pink shirt Lucy handed me and it fit perfectly.
Lucy grinned, happily accepting the change in subject, "It was fun wasn't it?!" I gave her a reassuring nod.
I woke up to the light shining through the grand curtains. I stretched out before opening my eyes, the room seems like a peaceful place when it is lit with natural light, less intimidating. I rolled over and realised my arm had gone numb from sleeping on it, my face screwed up at the feeling of 'pins & needles' shooting through it my arm. I sat up and started waving my hand around like it wasn't connected to anything, after the dreadful feeling went away I sighed. Even though it was a horrid feeling it did make me smile to watch my arm flop around.
I took both my arms above my head and clasped them together, reaching out to the sky in a deep stretch. I had slept pretty well despite this not being my bed, it had the kind of mattress that you just melted into, the rich kind.
I looked over to Lucy's bed and left out a little huff, I realised I was the only one left in this giant room.
"Lucy?" I whispered, I got out of bed, my warm feet welcoming the plush carpet. I wiggled my toes and walked over to Lucy's bed, it had been made, either that or Lucy never went to bed. I frowned slightly, I sniffed the air for any hint of her within the last hour or two but there was nothing. My frown only deepened. Maybe there was a meeting no one told me about? I don't think that was it, even though I haven't known them for very long it seems they would wake me up at least if something was going on. I settled slightly at the thought maybe they were letting me sleep in.
I grabbed my skirt, tank top, trench coat and boots and pulled them all on as I hopped over to the door, I brushed my hair out with my fingers and pushed the door open. I sniffed once more for Lucy's scent but still nothing, before I started the trek around this massive house, I decided to check next door with Natsu and Gray first.
I knocked lightly and I heard nothing from inside, after waiting for a second with no reply, I tried the door handle and it was unlocked. I opened the door to see Gray and Natsu both asleep snoring in separate beds, they don't sleep like normal people either, and they were both in odd positions. I stood in the doorway for a moment trying to put together a reason as to why Lucy wasn't here but the boys were. I was relieved to see the boys but now knowing they were still fast asleep had me worrying why Lucy was not.
Where is Erza's room? I didn't want to go barging into different rooms looking for her, even though most of these rooms were most likely empty I didn't want to make too much noise. If something had happened to Lucy I didn't want to alert anyone that might have her. Don't be stupid she wasn't kidnapped.
Still standing in the doorway, I realised that Happy was nowhere to be seen either. Maybe they both went for a walk?
"Breeze?" I snapped out of my thoughts to see Gray sitting up in his bed, shirtless. "What's wrong? Did you need something?" He sounded sleepy but still concerned,
"I-I can't find Lucy, I'm probably just overreacting but it's seems as if she hasn't been in our room since I went to sleep" I slouched my head, If something had happened to her, I will have failed as a teammate.
Gray got out of bed and walked over to me, he put a hand gently on my shoulder "Lucy will be fine" I looked up and Gray was smiling "We'll go and look for her huh? Sound good?"
I smiled back "Yeah" Even if it is nothing at least I want to know if Lucy is safe...
Until next time xx
