DZ2: I'm glad you approve of the use of the Byakugan in the last chapter. It was revealed that the Byakugan and Sharingan came from the same ancestor, so my take on it is that Sharingan and Byakugan have two different forms of "vision"….Sharingan is insight, Byakugan is perception.
I do not own Harry Potter or Naruto….I do think "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" was more fantastic than I expected though.
Fun fact: Harry's "cousin" Neji was a Jonin at the time of his death (Age 17); while most of his allies and friends in the Konoha teams that took part in the Chunin Exams during the Suna/Oto invasion were Chunin. He had completed 26 D-rank missions, 19 C-rank missions, 4 B-Rank missions, 11 A-rank missions and even 2 S-rank missions. His favorite was soba noodles with herring and his least favorite food was pumpkin….thus he would have disliked the most common drink served at Hogwarts…He also disliked spicy foods.
This is officially continuing! My flames of inspiration were reignited by DZ2's Harry Potter/Naruto crossover, Harry Potter: Missing-Nin featuring a Mangekyō Sharingan-wilding Harry! Thank you DZ2!
Harry Potter-Hyuuga was not used to wearing this style of clothing. The robes were baggy and unflattering, the tie felt constricting around his neck and he was concerned about someone possibly choking him with it, and the vest offered no true protection against anything but the cold. Even flak jackets worn by Chunin and Jonin had strengthened fibers to help protect against small kunai and shuriken. Though those weapons could penetrate those vests, it would prevent them from going into the body as deeply.
"These vests don't even have scroll pockets" Harry muttered bitterly as he gazed at the castle, fiddling with his hitai-ate. He had kept the sports tape wrapping around his palms, forearms, and lower legs to honor his fallen cousin, Neji, though. No one was going to make him stop doing so without facing the power of the Hyuuga clan.
He was following Neville and Hermione with his Byakugan activated as they and the other first years were lead to driverless and oar-less rowboats along the shore of a large lake.
"No more than 4 to a boat!" He heard Hagrid yell and the trio rushed into the nearest boat before a young girl their age joined them. She had long black hair and icy blue eyes.
"Sorry about joining you without permission, I'm trying to avoid certain…people" The girl said, with an icy glare to rival an angry Jonin at a small group of people among the crowd.
"At least you are polite about your reasoning and apologize for any inconvenience." Harry said, crossing his arms with a slightly amused smirk as his Byakugan deactivated, "I met someone on the train who did neither."
It was then he caught the girl staring at his eyes "No I am not blind. Have you heard of the Byakugan?"
The girl blinked at this information; "My father mentioned it in passing…" she trailed off as she glanced at Harry's pupil less eyes.
"My name is Potter-Hyuuga, Harry. My companions with me are Grainger, Hermione and Longbottom, Neville." He said sternly and the girl's eyes widened in realization.
"So you were in Japan! That's where you vanished to!" She said, before recomposing herself. "My name is Greengrass, Daphne."
"Oh? So you know of Japanese traditional introductions?" Harry asked with genuine curiosity as the rowboat gave a sudden lurch and moved itself into the water. He briefly activated the Byakugan, watching the chakra around the rowboat before pulling out a scroll and quickly writing his observations on how they used chakra to row the boat.
He looked up to see Daphne looking at him with an amused expression, Neville looking utterly confused, and Hermione trying to read the Japanese writing.
"My apologies. My Byakugan can let me see…magic…and I was writing my observations on the…spell…that is making to boat move on its own." Harry explained, trying to not to slip into the terms chakra and Jutsu.
Daphne gave a small, amused smile at his admission. "No worries, I understand perfectly well that you are very curious. I admit; I am slightly jealous about your ability to observe magic, and to answer your question, my family deals with a lot of different businesses, some of them overseas, so we were taught about different ways to greet others of different cultures."
Harry ran a head through his long hair as he put away his scroll.
"Duck!" They heard Hagrid's loud voice and all lowered themselves as a large low-hanging branch passed by where their heads had been. Harry let his Byakugan deactivate as he sat back up, gazing at the approaching castle in his full color vision. The one downside to the Byakugan is that it did not pick up color besides chakra.
"The winters here will be very cold." Harry stated as he gazed at the open doors as they passed into an alcove.
"It isn't cold where you're from?" Daphne asked in curiosity.
"I'm from Konohagakure in Hi no Kuni; The Village Hidden in the Leaves in the Land of Fire. It is mild and rarely snows." Harry answered with a nostalgic smile, already missing home.

After being passed off to a Minerva McGonagall, the group of first years was lead to a hallway with four unbelievably long tables with multiple students sitting around them. There were four banners, one above each table. One was green with a silver snake. Another was blue with a bronze raven. The third was red with a gold lion, and the fourth was yellow with a black badger. The ceiling looked like it wasn't there, but Harry's Byakugan could see the elaborate genjutsu used to make it appear like the sky outside. At the end of the room was another long table with adults sitting at them, an old man with a long beard and half-moon glasses in the center sitting at an ornate golden throne. In front of that table stood McGonagall in his dark green robes, standing next to a three-legged stool with a tattered hat on it.
Harry gazed intently at the hat as it opened up and sang. He gazed at the chakra and pulled out his scroll and wrote notes about how the chakra was used in the hat and the genjutsu on the ceiling. The hat was the most interesting to Harry, seeing an inanimate object given a personality and life.
"Abbot, Hannah" McGonagall called out, making Harry's Byakugan gaze snap to her as the girl walked up to the stool as the woman lifted the hat off of it. Harry watched, grip tightening on his scroll as the hat was lowered onto the first year's head and Harry saw the chakra interacting with the girl's own, acting as if it was scanning her mind. He quickly wrote down his observations and put the scroll away as his hand darted to the empty kunai pouch on his leg holding his wand as his body tensed and he became ready to perform the Juken at any moment.
While they wouldn't give up the secrets of their techniques, Konoha's Yaminaka Clan specialized in Jutsus that dealt with the mind. Thus Konoha ninja were given a mild course at resisting mental interrogations with recent years.
"Hufflepuff!" The hat shouted and Harry became confused. The hat read her mind and revealed…nothing? It only did so in order to say nonsense? Some of his confusion was cleared as the house under the banner with the badger cheered as the girl walked over to it and sat down as the other tables politely clapped. There was some chakra usage in that hat, as her robes gained a yellow trim and the crest with the symbol of that badger, and her tie became yellow with black strips.
Deactivating his Byakugan, he carefully gazed at the people around him, taking mental notes of who was where. Bones, Susan went to Hufflepuff, and Brown, Lavender became the first Gryffindor. A hand resting on his shoulder nearly made him jump, and he turned to see Daphne looking at him in concern, Hermione and Neville looking at him in confusion; not knowing why he tensed.
"The hat scans your mind." He whispered quietly to his friends and Daphne's eyes widened before giving an icy look to the object. Neville looked alarmed and Hermione looked uncomfortable with that thought.
"Good to know, thanks for the warning." Daphne said, looking at the others. "Clear your mind or think of something that you wouldn't mind others knowing, like your favorite snack." She told Neville and Hermione. Harry looked at the group of first years being divided up until "Grainger, Hermione".
The bushy haired girl rushed forward, nervously muttering spells under her breath until she sat down at the stool and the hat was placed on her. The hat looked uncomfortable, and sat there for a few minutes until it let out a call of "Gryffindor" and Hermione moved to the table with the lion banner.
"Greengrass, Daphne."
The girl gave him a small smile, squeezing his shoulder as she took a deep breath and walked forward with her head held up proudly. The hat looked uncomfortable sitting on her head before it let out a loud cry of "Gryffindor". Daphne looked utterly shocked for a few seconds, before she schooled her expression and walked over to the table under the lion banner, sitting down next to Hermione. The man with black hair and dark eyes at the staff table looked like he had swallowed something extremely sour and bitter.
Harry gave a small nod towards her, which she reciprocated as Hermione gave a small grin towards him. Neville was soon called up and then was sorted to Gryffindor, having to be called back to have the hat taken off his head.
"Malfoy, Draco." The boy with smoothed blonde hair gave Daphne a harsh glare before strutting forward like a peacock. The hat barely brushed his hair before yelling "Slytherin!" He gave a smirk and strutted over to the table under the snake banner. With more names called, McGonagall smiled slightly before calling the next name.
"Potter-Hyuuga, Harry"
Immediately the hall broke out in hurried conversation as statements such as "The-Boy-Who-Lived?" where echoed around the hall. Harry recalled his training and strode forward confidently, pupil less eyes scanning the different staff.
The old man looked relieved, but there was a glimmer of….something…in his eyes. Right before he made direct eye contact, his eyes gazed upon Hagrid, then a dumpy-looking witch with a friendly look on her face, than a small professor who looked half-goblin, and looked excited. Then there was a man in a turban, who was avoiding any eye contact. There were other teachers, such as a beautiful black haired woman sitting near a man with slicked black hair, a hooked nose, and what looked like a scowl permanently attached to his face.
He glared at Harry as he approached the stool and Harry glared back, veins bulging as a small black circle appeared around where his pupil would be as the Byakugan activated in challenge to the hostility. The man had some chakra building up in front of his eyes from his mind, but cancelled it when he saw the Byakugan. The same technique was also prepared by the old man and the man in the turban, strangely enough. Harry deactivated his Byakugan and sat down, missing the awed look from the Professor Flitwick at his skill at using the Byakugan.
He could feel the chakra trying to snake into his mind and he lashed at it with his own. To everyone else, the hat looked extremely uncomfortable, squirming around on Harry's head.
"You're a brave one." He heard the hat's voice on his head.
'And you're trying to enter my mind, which I don't approve of.' Harry thought bitterly, remembering Hiashi's proud gaze. There was nothing threatening to Konoha's safety in that memory.
"I'm just trying to do my job, read the student's personality to determine which House they best belong in. Salazar would have loved your cunning." The hat spoke in his head again, "But the fact that you, like your friends from the boat, have the courage to stand up to an unknown threat, I know just where to put you."
"Gryffindor!" The hat shouted, and there was a rambunctious, over the top cheer from the Gryffindor table. The old man at the table looked absolutely pleased, and the black haired hooked nosed man looked like he was angry at someone. Harry went to sit next to Neville, who was sitting across from Hermione. Harry looked up to see Daphne looking at him from across the table with an amused expression.
"The hat was upset it couldn't just read you, wasn't it." She asked.
"We are taught some resistance to mental interrogation techniques, so I had some way to fight off most of its attempts." Harry admitted, tightening his right hand into a fist. The small group turned to see the rest of the sorting. There was an issue as the red-haired boy from the train, Ron Weasley, tried pushing Daphne out of the way after being sorted to Gryffindor, but was soon carried further down the table by two older redheaded boys.
After Zabini, Blaise was sorted to Slytherin, the old man stood up. Harry refused to make eye contact after having seen that unknown technique he had been preparing, but listened while gazing at Professor Flitwick. At the part of a corridor being forbidden for those who don't want to die a most painful death, Harry's developing Shinobi senses were screaming an alarm at him. There was something secret about that location. He was not afraid of death; he was a Shinobi.
And the Forest of Death was Training Ground 44 back home; used for the Chunin exams, so there was nothing strange about exploring a deadly area. Harry wasn't expecting that one corridor had giant tigers, giant centipedes, giant leeches, giant spiders, or giant snakes, or man-eating plants, so that deadly location may be relatively plain. He cautiously gazed at the older students, and saw looks of fear and confusion.
'Those expressions' Harry thought, 'That must mean that corridor wasn't out of bounds previous years. Something is definitely up.' Harry then grimaced. Of the non-clan techniques, the only one he had truly mastered was the body-replacement technique. He still occasionally crashed into objects when using the body flicker, his Fire Release: Fireball Technique needed to be bigger, and his Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall took too long to form in a life-or-death battle.
"When I get home, I must look into more of the Juken techniques, and more Ninjutsu." Harry muttered to himself. "Maybe I can get Hokage-Sama to teach me the Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique and the Water Release: Water Bullet Technique."
While Harry himself had a natural affinity to fire release techniques; as it was a common natural chakra element for those in Konohagakure (In fact Neji had fire release chakra as well), it didn't deter him from learning other elements. The sixth Hokage Kakashi Hatake had a natural affinity to lightning release techniques, but learned how to perform all five basic chakra elements: fire, wind, lightning, earth, and water. Despite having only average chakra reserves compared to some Shinobi (Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha immediately came to his mind), his arsenal of techniques and skill with them made him deadly. It was something Harry aspired to be like. The fact that the elements he chose to learn; earth and water, were also elements Neji had learned to use did not occur to him.
Of course, this meant that Harry had to naturally learn more of the Hyuuga clan taijutsu arts. He had mastered the Eight Trigrams Palm Rotating Heaven and the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms along with the basics of the Juken, such as the Palm Bottom strike. He would look into learning the Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm and the Gentle Fist Art One Body Blow. When he was older he would learn the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists and Eight Trigrams Vacuum Wall Palm.
Harry was brought out of his thoughts when Neville nudged him. Everyone was standing up and following a small group of students who were either 15 or 17. He stood up and followed with his three friends as they were led up a tower and up different staircases until they reached a picture of a large woman. "Caput Draconis" A 15 year old student said and the portrait swung open to reveal a large room with comfortable looking couches and chairs, red and gold striped wallpaper, a cluster of tables and chairs, and a fireplace burning comfortably. There were two staircases leading further upwards.
After the first years were gathered, McGonagall entered and gazed upon the crowd, pausing on Harry and his friends. Harry listened to her talk about how the house was like their family, but something about this house didn't seem like family. Even compared to the traditions of the Hyuuga Clan, the "family members" were distant from each other. Still, the Hyuuga clan was changing, spearheaded by Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Uzumaki nee Hyuuga, as a promise to Neji. Yet, before McGonagall could leave, Gryffindor had its first inside conflict.
"Why didn't you tell me you were Harry Potter?" Ron Weasley nearly yelled, striding up to Harry and trying to intimidate him.
"I said my adopted family name. It was you who barged into my compartment uninvited without waiting for me to answer if I was fine with you sitting with me." Harry said calmly and coolly, schooling his face into a disinterested, cold look.
"And your eyes, you think you're so special because you're blind don't you?" Ron said, and Harry activated his Byakugan.
"I am never blind. The Hyuuga Clan's Byakugan is one of the three great eye bloodlines revered across my home….and the Hyuuga are one of Konohagakure's strongest clans." Harry said, muscles tensing. Everything in the boy's body language was screaming aggression. As Ron reached into his pocket and pulled out his wand with his right hand, Harry lashed out with his middle and index fingers, repeatedly tapping different spots on Ron's right arm with blinding speed. Ron scrunched his face in concentration, but became alarmed when nothing happened and his wand didn't respond.
"Look at your arm." Harry said with a calm indifference, and the boy pulled back his sleeve to see perfect circle-shaped discolorations similar to bruises where Harry had tapped. "I sealed your magic pathways in that arm."
Ron stared at the discolorations in horror. The words "magic" and "sealed" echoed in his head. He looked at Harry in total horror. "You can't just turn me into a squib!"
"Mr. Potter-Hyuuga, please unseal those magic points. Mr. Weasley, for starting this conflict before our first day, you will have detention with me every day this week." McGonagall said and Harry nodded, grabbing Ron's arm and quickly tapping the discolorations once again. Ron checked his wand, seeing small sparks fly from the tip of it when it felt his magic. This stood out to Harry; McGonagall was obviously strict, yet fair. Harry kept his Byakugan activated as he turned his back to the group and headed to the couch. Ron glared at him, raising a clenched fist in anger.
"Are you raising your fist to me? Do you wish to start another fight?" Harry asked, not even bothering to turn around as his Byakugan picked up the looks of amazement and shock from the other students. Neville walked over to him and motioned to the boy's staircase and Harry nodded, before nodding towards Hermione and Daphne. Both of the girls took the cue to head up the staircase and the two boys did the same. Harry sat down at the bed furthest from the door, his trunk appearing at the foot of the bed a moment later. Neville took the chance and took the only bed next to Harry's, and watched his trunk appear a moment later. Harry opened the window and Setsuna flew in, a mouse clenched in her talons.
"No thank you, I already ate, but I appreciate you offering." Harry said, stroking the head of the snowy owl, "You enjoy your prize." Setsuna looked pleased and started tearing into the mouse with enthusiasm. With that, Harry pulled open the class textbooks and started reading.

The next morning, Harry was already in the common room meditating when Neville, Daphne, and Hermione came down. Harry opened his eyes and picked up a bag carrying the supplies for all his classes. Just because he was away from home didn't mean he wasn't going to do some form of weight training, even if it meant carrying everything at once. He put on the plain black hat, feeling completely ridiculous at the look of the hat, and headed out the door with his friends following him.
He sat down at the very end of the Gryffindor table, closest to the teachers, and gazed at the breakfast selection. He took a few fried mushrooms and a crumpet with orange marmalade on it. Still, he grew up in a hidden island outside of Japan…he was used to Japanese meals. As if magic, a traditional Japanese breakfast appeared in front of him next to his mushrooms and crumpet.
There was a small bowl of steamed rice and another small bowl of miso soup. On a small plate, there was a small portion of grilled salmon, Nori (dried seasoned seaweed), and tsukemono (Japanese pickles) with a small plate of green salad next to it.
Hermione looked at the choices in curiosity, and Daphne looked up at the table and asked "Could I have the same thing?" Within a heartbeat, the same dishes were in front of her as Harry tried his first fried mushroom. It was different than Harry expected. Japanese breakfasts were lighter than the things served here, and were meant to meet one's appetite without being too heavy of filling. It was how Shinobi could train in less time waiting after breakfast.
The crumpets were more enjoyable, especially with the zest of the orange marmalade. With that food sampled, he picked up a fork and sighed, used to having chopsticks. With that, he took a small forkful of salmon. Professor McGonagall was moving around the table with stacks of paper, but paused upon seeing what Harry and Daphne were eating. She shook her head, reminding herself that Harry was raised by the Japanese Hyuuga Clan before standing beside him.
"Excuse me for the interruption, Mr. Potter-Hyuuga, but I have your class schedule." She said, offering one of the papers to him. He took it with an utter of quiet thanks, and looked over it as she continued passing out the schedules, first to Neville, then Daphne and Hermione before moving further down the table. He stared intently at the schedule. He placed the schedule in his bag and resumed eating, taking a piece of tsukemono with a forkful of steamed rice. After swallowing, he looked up at Hermione's curious look.
"Why are you eating that kind of food?" She asked him, making others look at his plate.
"This is a traditional Japanese breakfast." Harry answered, taking a spoon to have a little of the miso soup, "Something that isn't too heavy on the stomach as well." Very few words were spoken as the small quartet finished their breakfasts.
As Harry looked at his schedule, a small smirk pulled on his mouth.
"I daresay things are about to be….interesting…" He said to himself.
Hey guys, wanted to make a longer chapter to start a new year!
