After school, I decided to go see Kaylee, who was absent, so I can try talking to her. I rang the doorbell. Her mom answered and told me that she had a bad cold. Mr. Willis picked Kayla up for a father-daughter day.
"Okay. I'll see her when she's better," I said. "Do you think I can text her? I just needed to talk to her."
"That's fine," said Mrs. Willis. "She's asleep right now, so you might have to wait until later on."
"Alright," I said. "I won't bother then in case she's still resting."
At home, I was debating to text Kaylee. But would she be sleeping? I'll just wait until she's back at school. Thank god she and Kayla had been great to me.
"Were you able to see Kaylee?" asked Dad, who knew about it.
"Mrs. Willis said Kaylee has a cold. I was going to try texting her, but I decided not to bother. She might be still sleeping," I replied.
"I don't blame you," said Dad.
"I'll wait until she's back in school," I said.
The next day, at school, Kayla and Kaylee were back. Yay!
"How are you doing? Mom told me you tried to see me while I was sick," said Kaylee.
"Worse," I replied.
"I remember Carlos did that to Meredith last time," I said.
"I remember that, too," said Kaylee.
"Same here," said Kayla.
"What Kristy did wasn't right," I said.
"I know," said Kaylee.
"I can't wait until it's over," I said.
"I bet," agreed Kaylee.
"Kristy was never like that to me," I said. "She wouldn't like it if I did that to her."
"I agree with you," said Kaylee.
"When I'm ready, I'll talk to Kristy and tell her how I felt about what she did to me," I said. "But I don't know what to say to her."
"You can tell her what you told us," said Kaylee.
"That would make her remember not to do that again next time," said Kayla.
"I agree. Dad forbid her to come over until she can apologize to me," I said. "In fact, Mrs. Brewer already knew and Kristy got grounded because of it. Kristy doesn't even know that I told her mom."
"Good," said Kaylee.
"There are times I can't take it any longer, but talking to both of you and Dad help me out," I said.
"True," agreed Kaylee. "Talking to your therapist helps out, too."
"Oh, yeah," I said. "Kristy and I usually talk things out as well."
"That's very odd," said Kayla.
"I know," I agreed.
