"Lina, we have company!" Gourry said, looking over his shoulder.

"What is it?" asked D'Nar as he ran over to Gourry's said in order to give him aid.

"I don't know," Gourry answered back. "Its just big and...."

A loud roar echoed through the castle as a lumbering giant was awoken from its slumber. Its massive eyes broke open as it's looked over the inside of the castle. As it rose, rocks and dirt fell over its body and Gourry and D'Nar just looked up in disbelief. The monster hunched back and its shoulder ripped apart and large fiery wings emerged from the shell. It stood there looking at the two figures slowly back back into the hallway.

"Lina!" D'Nar shouted as he turned to a full stride running back into the hallway.

Lina, Amelia and Filia were standing back at the edge of the hallway watching Kaylen intently.

"What have you done with the book?" Filia asked her golden hair was starting to get ruffled. "Please, we are not trying to hurt you. Lina did what you asked of her, so WHY ARE YOU PLAYING GAMES!"

"Heheheheheh," Kaylen chuckled. "Xellos was correct when he said that dragons were so easy to get angry." Filia bristled even more when she mentioned that name. "But no matter, I do not know where the book is. As you are very well aware, it disappeared from my hands. But I believe that you have more important matters on your hands. And with that her body began to shiver but didn't move. "What's going on? My magic is not working!"

"You are so worthless," a voice came from a corner. Zelgadiss, who hadn't said anything since Lina had come, had been watching the whole scene. "The monster is blocking your mazoku magic. Heh, anyone could see that." The chuckle had no humor in it.

Kaylen just stood there fuming, as the attention of the group turned back towards Gourry and D'Nar.

"What does the situation look like?" Lina asked.

"Well it hasn't move but it doesn't seem to want to let us leave either."

"Well, I just need to go have a talk with this character of evil!" Amelia stated matter-of-factly, as she marched pasted her astonished companions and right out the door.

Zelgadiss sighed and thought to himself, "This girl is going to get herself killed one day."

And with that the five ran outside after the justice-crazed teen. Kaylen simple slumped to the floor in complete disbelief.

"What's wrong with me?" she whispered to herself. "It's not supposed to be like this."

"You disappoint me, Kaylen" a familiar voice soothed. "I expected more out of you."

"Damn you, Xellos! Why are you here?"

"That's a secret. But I will tell you this. You are about to miss a show outside by someone you haven't heard from in a while." And with that he was gone.

Kaylen slowly picked herself and the rest of her pride up and walked outside to where the others where standing awe-struck.

Amelia was perched in her often seen justice-giving-speech stance, and she was giving the monster a vicious tongue-lashing. However the monster's patience seemed to be near empty. With one swing, the monster destroyed the ground that she was standing on leaving a huge gap between the group and itself.

"Amelia, are you crazy?!" Zelgadis yelled as he ran out to get the startled girl.

However the monster had seen the chimera running to the rescue and decided to crush this new insect.

"Zelgadis, look out!" Lina shouted

Zelgadis looked up and saw the monster's fist speeding towards him and he closed his eyes.

"So this is how it ends.." He thought.

But the impact never came. Instead there was a huge roar from the beast as it was getting ripped from the inside out. The group stood there as they watch in disbelief as it met it's demise in under 5 seconds. Then they all rushed to were Zelgadis and Amelia were standing, and looked over to were the beast had been. In its place stood a figure in all white with a long blade that had a little blood left over from the monster, with a complete look of boredom on his face. With a nonchalant look, he flicked the blade once and put the sword back in it's place. He felt that he was the center of attention and his gaze found Lina's. They held for a second and the figure turn and walked away.

"Who was that?" Lina asked to no one in particular. She turned her attention to Zelgadis and Amelia, not noticing that Kaylen was backing against the wall, her eyes wide in disbelief.

"No, no, no, it can't be." She stammered.

"I told you," Xellos's voice said. "Surprised?"

"Why is he here?!" She demanded. "What is it that you two want?!"

"Don't you think you're talking to loud?" he laughed at her. "You're drawing to much attention to yourself."

"What..." She turned and saw the Slayers looking her direction with questionable looks spread across their faces.

"What are you guys staring at?" she yelled angrily.

"Oh nothing, we're used to seeing people screaming in the air when nobody's around." Lina replied smoothly.

Kaylen could do nothing but blush.

D'Nar spoke up. "Do you know that character?"

Kaylen just looked at him as if this was her first time seeing him, and with that she promptly fainted.

"Isn't this great" Lina muttered. "We have mysterious people killing mysterious monsters, while more mysterious people that we can see yelling at mysterious people that we can't see..it's just so exhausting!"

"Aw, Lina-san don't tell me that that is going to get you down." Piped Xellos, as he materialized in front of the group.

"Namagomi!" fumed Filia.

"Xellos?" Lina questioned wearily? "What are you doing here?"

"Why Lina, you speak as if I'm unwanted." The priest replied with a hurt look on his face.

"Take a hint and a number." Growled Zelgadiss casting a quick look from the fallen Kaylen back to the priest, who let one eye open in interest.

"So how's my favorite golden dragon these day's?" Xellos teased.

"Don't you DARE SPEAK TO ME!" Filia boomed.

"AH, dragons are so violent." Xellos stated in a dismissive manner. "Lina," D'Nar tapped her on the shoulder. "That's not Greater Beast Xellos, is it?"

"The one and only." She replied back. "I keep strange company don't you think?"

"But he is a mazoku," he stammered. "I thought you got rid of mazokus."

"He is and I do," she answered. "However, Xellos is out of my range, plus he can be a good addition during fights. She places Xellos in a head lock. "When he decides to stick around, that is."

"What did I do this time?" the mazoku whined.

"Nothing, but with you popping up and this guy with all that white on, plus this monster showing up and the Book of Thorn disappearing, you have a lot of explaining to do."

"I can't tell you anything about the guy in the white, and the Book of Thorn is another thing. However I have been following you around because you amuse me."

"Useless as usual," Zelgadis mumbled.

"Kaylen might be able to give you some information when she wakes up," Xellos said as he started to hover in the air.

"Wait a minute, Xellos! I'm not through with you." Lina yelled after him.

"I know, but I have some business that I need to take care of." And with that, he vanished.

"Well, all we can do is to go back to town and rest up and wait for sleeping beauty here to wake up." Lina sighed. "As of right now, she is the only one with any clue of what's going on."

The rest of the group nodded in agreement.

"Hopefully she is a little bit more helpful then that pitiful Xellos," Filia muttered under her breath.

The group nodded in agreement again.

"So when is she going to wake up?" Gourry asked all of sudden.

Sweat drops all over.
